Nigeria deserve better leadership. In fact the President himself confirmed on WikiLeaks that he was not the best person for the job. Lets quit sentiment and do the right thing on election day. Show GEJ the exit door. We need excellent leadership potential in our leaders. Leaders with vision. Leaders with foresight. |
May the soul of the dead Rest In Peace. I am very disappointed that this happened. It shows that our security forces in Nigeria are not fit for purpose. The security forces know the capacity of the stadium and they failed to manage the crowd movement including entry and exit. Many Nigerians who visited the stadium could not upload a single picture or video of the incident. What a shame with all the GSM? Is this what will happen on election day? Ballot box thieves will have an enjoyable day. Nigeria media has no pictures or video. View eye witness on video on BBC website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12441928 View Reuters Report and video: http://www.reuters.com/news/video?videoId=187041526&feedType=VideoRSS&feedName=LatestVideosUS&videoChannel=1&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+reuters/USVideoLatest+(Video+/+US+/+Latest+Video)&utm_content=Google+UK |
There is no need to panic about this. If the UK carry out their threat, they will be shooting themselves in the foot. Foreign students in the UK today are mostly Africans and Asians. Nigeria takes the greater share of student numbers from Africa. India takes the greater share of student numbers from Asia. If the UK authorities cut visas to Nigerians and Indians, it will have knock-on effect on some colleges. Some colleges and even Universities may closedown. The fees for foreign students keep increasing without control. Nigerian and Indian students are helping the UK with huge money pot for studies. Time will tell because when Nigeria gets better, UK will not see many students from Nigeria anymore. |
My people!!!!!! A word is enough for the wise. This is the evidence that PDP is bad news for Nigeria. Like it or not, Jonathan cannot progress Nigeria. He is known to be slow in everything. He belongs in the corrupt camp. If you vote Jonathan, you indirectly vote for James Ibori. People must vote wisely. |
All, Buhari and Bakare are a good combination. Not perfect, but better than others. GEJ is bad for Nigeria. He cannot take control. In fact the situation in Nigeria now is chaos, GEJ is not in control. Killings everywhere. Stealing and looting in government. EFCC is tired of pursuing Nigerian politicians. Nigerians should quit sentiment and face the reality. We need a strong leader whose 'yes' will truly be 'yes'. Malaysia, Turkey, UAE, Kuwait, etc are islamic nations who are progressing high in development. The problem with Nigeria is not Christian or Islam. In fact people from both religion marry each other in love, peace and friendship. Nigerians should think beyond PDP. PDP owns GEJ, he has no voice of his own. NIGERIA NEED A CHANGE. We do not need another 4 years of sluggishness and looting. Nigerians must grow up now or else there will be more suffering than what we have now. Nigerians must be ready to take back the country from thieves. Buhari is not perfect, nobody is perfect. GEJ has failed Nigerians in his slow system of development. PDP has good structures in Nigeria because they have the looted money under their control. The stolen money of Nigeria are in PDP. No party has been in government longer than PDP. |
Fellow Nigerians, There is no need to argue and blame Dr Tunde Bakare for his stance. Nigerians must begin to take responsibility to change the country. The current state of Nigeria is a shame on everyone, Christians or not. We can do something to change the shame. Dr Bakare has made his effort, what are other people doing? The Bible makes it clear that when ungodly people rule, the people suffer. Dr Bakare cannot continue to sit on the fence like many Nigerians. That will give PDP another mandate to loot the country dry. Unfortunately, many Nigerians are enjoying the system failures in Nigeria. I am disappointed that some Nigerians enjoy the various troubles in the country: No light, No water, No good road, No good school for common man, No good health care, etc etc. The rich send their children abroad to study. The rich go abroad for medicals. The common Nigerian has no choice. What a shame. |
Teething problems in the voters registration process reported: http://www.voiceoutng.com/2011/01/voter-registration-starts-on-shaky-note/ |
REGISTER NOW! REGISTER NOW!! REGISTER NOW!!!
|
My People, Voting is your civic right as a Nigerian. Do not let the current underdevelopment in Nigeria make you angry to the point of refusing to register. If you do not register now, you cannot vote. I am a Nigerian and all Nigerians in the house MUST remove shame from our beloved country by registering to vote now. Register NOW before 31 January 2011 and get your voting card ready. |
GEJ and PDP brought shame on Nigeria. After many years of PDP, the results: 1. No good road anywhere, except Abuja City. 2. No genuine electricity after expending huge sums of money. 3. Only the rich can afford to live in Abuja. 4. The poor and middle class are maginalised. 5. No pipeborne water. 6. Slow progress in development in Nigeria. 7. National reserve being emptied with nothing to show for it. 8. Many more - Add to the list my people DO NOT LET ANOTHER TIME OF PDP LEADERSHIP TO DESTROY THE FUTURE OF NIGERIA. Nigerians at home and abroad are tired of slow progress in Nigeria. Poverty has developed into crime and youth underdevelopment. My people, register to VOTE out the PDP machine forever. If you do not register, you cannot vote. |
texazzpete:No child will be taken without their consent. The essence of orphanages is to look after children without parents and guardian. The job of the NGO is to help care for child destitutes in the community. Any community or parent that refuse help will be left alone. No fight or force. For example, in London, some people sleep on the street willingly. Some these destitutes in London are given food and shelter as a matter of choice. No force. @texazzpete, I am very disappointed that all your 'legal' knowledge can only produce argument without any solution to the problem. |
texazzpete:It is not kidnapping if done sensibly and with authorisation. This is why a registered NGO volunteers/personnel is required, not ordinary people. It is done with the support of local Police. Any child collected from the streets will automatically be recorded with the local Police in case they have been reported missing. |

@Poster, Thank you for identifying this problem of child poverty and abandonment in Lagos. A similar problem may be in other states. You did not identify the correct method of getting support to these destitute children. Nobody likes to pay money to unregistered individuals or anonymous bank accounts. It you live in Lagos, you should be able to help further. I believe the answer is not in giving money to the children on the street. The children need a secure environment to grow and get education. To set the ball rolling, we need a simple plan: 1. Provide a list of registered orphanages in Lagos. 2. The next step is to contact each orphanage to determine their capacity and their current vacancy (daily update). 3. The next step is to collect these children every day/night and take them to their nearest orphanage with vacancy. 4. People can then make donations to these orphanages in cash or kind. This simple plan can be adapted and used by local NGO in Lagos or anywhere in Nigeria. People can also form new NGO for this purpose. |
@Poster, The simple answer is GREED. Our greed has taken Nigeria away from true progress. In other countries, weekly and monthly rent is normal. In Nigeria, landlords want two years rent in advance. Unfortunately, there is no government in Nigeria to curb the greed. The government is like the people they serve. Imagine some Lagosian jobbers still living on the street without even a rented home of their own. |
@Poster, 1. It is the right thing to return to Nigeria, you are not mad. 2. Challenges are too many to list, like anywhere else in the world. 3. Jobs? What jobs? There is high unemployment in Nigeria. Your foreign skill and qualification would put you at an advantage over locally qualified but you can create jobs and employ other people. Aim to be an employer, not an employee. You can make more than N2million naira in a month if you pursue entrepreneurship. I am not kidding. You can set up many businesses and run them in parallel in Nigeria. You do not need rigorous permit and registration to operate a viable business in Nigeria. However, be ready with some money to start a business. |
Get a job first before you go to Nigeria. Check the following website: http://www.careersinafrica.com/summits/london Better still, visit Nigeria alone (without your family) and take a look at Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt. Investigate job opportunities as well as business start-up opportunities. It is easier to start a small business in Nigeria because no regulation to satisfy. Just start. |
@Poster, It does not matter where your estates are physically located in Nigeria, people need to know the price of your properties. |
I saw your properties on your website. What are the prices of the properties? |
It is very sad that many Nigerians are involved in Bribery and Corruption as a normal way of life. Even religious Nigerians are involved and I wonder who they are deceiving. What legacy are we living for our unborn generation? What is Bribe: money or any other valuable consideration given or promised with a view to corrupting the behavior of a person What is Bribery: the act or practice of giving or accepting a bribe What is Corrupt: guilty of dishonest practices, as bribery; lacking integrity; crooked What is Corruption: the act of corrupting or state of being corrupt. According to the government of Ireland, "Bribery is a specific offence which concerns the practice of offering something, usually money, to gain an illicit advantage and corruption is an abuse of a position of trust in order to gain an undue advantage." Examples of Bribery and Corruption in Nigeria (Please add to the list): - Pay money to the Police to escape arrest (bribery) - Pay money to university or college officials to gain admission (bribery) - Sleep with a lecturer to gain good grades in examination (bribery) - Former Attorney-General of the Federation, Chief Michael Aondoakaa requests $20million to sign a document (corruption) - Pay Turai Yar'Adua to lift Oil from Nigeria (corruption) - Recruit your relatives and friends to government or corporate positions (corruption) - Pay market inspector to allow you to escape paying your tax (bribery) - ETC ETC - add to the list More useful links on Bribery and Corruption: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bribery http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/corrupt http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bribe |
This is the evidence why Nigerians must stop deceiving themselves with being religious. A country like Nigeria where religion is spreading like wild fire, we are also increasing in bribery and corruption. Even seemingly religious Nigerians are involved in various forms of bribery and corruption. Haba! That shows backwardness. My people if we refuse to change our ways, our children and future generations will suffer too much. My people, let us stop deceiving ourselves. |
The originator of this topic must be a Director of PHCN or NEPA. PRIVATISATION is the way to go because huge sums of money is required to fund the electricity project. Nigerians must learn to pay for the necessities of life. Nothing is free. See what privatisation has done to the Telecommunication industry in Nigeria. NITEL is almost dead now but Nigeria is advancing in telecommunication without NITEL wahala. The same will happen if electricity is privatised. I lookforward to the disappearance of the name PHCN and NEPA because they represent bad news and bad omen for Nigeria. |
This is a wake-up call to all Nigerian students attending any university in Nigeria. If you vote for politicians because they gave you peanut and a bowl of soup, na you sabi. Corrupt politicians do not care about failing infrastructure in universities or any school. The children of most politicians are far away in the UK, USA, Canada and even, Ghana, studying. Students should learn a lesson from this. Unfortunately, it is possible that many more universities will follow this shame. Students must vote with their conscience. Students must exercise their right to vote. Students must not be used for vote rigging. |
Nairalanders, Ponzi Scheme is everywhere, including Nigeria. Be very careful about Ponzi schemes claiming to yield quick financial gains. People beware of get rich quick schemes. Read this news article from USA: http://chicagobreakingbusiness.com/2010/12/feds-charges-more-than-500-with-financial-fraud.html U.S. officials said Monday they have charged more than 500 people in what they dubbed the largest-ever nationwide sweep of scam artists preying on individual investors. |
Another setback for Ibori himself. Nemesis edging closer by the day for Chief Ibori. http://thewillnigeria.com/politics/6791-Ibori-Lawyer-Pleads-Guilty--Mobile-Shares-Fraud.html SAN FRANCISCO, Dec 06, (THEWILL) – Mr. Bhadresh Gohil, the London lawyer of former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, today in a Southwark Crown Court pleaded guilty to money laundering and conspiracy charges in a V-Mobile shares fraud. |
http://thewillnigeria.com/politics/6794-LPPC-Bars-Aondoakaa-From-Use-SAN.html ABUJA, Dec 06 (THEWILL) - For misconduct and abuse of privilege during his reign as Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Michael Aondoakaa was today issued a two-year ban from using the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) title by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC). |
Citizens for Change mobilises Nigerians in the UK to pressurise their MPs to enforce a UK Travel Ban on corrupt Nigerian Politicians and Officials Citizens for Change is calling on all Nigerians in the United Kingdom to take advantage of their political and demographic power to compel the United Kingdom government to take a very strong stance against corrupt Nigerian politicians and officials whom we have information about their corrupt activities by signing and sending the letter below to their respective Members of Parliament (MPs). The letter requests the MPs to call for and enforce a United Kingdom Travel ban, financial sanctions and restrictive measures against people such as former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, former vice president Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and former Attorney General of Nigeria, Michael Aondoakaa who has already been banned from entering the United States due to his corrupt activities while in office. Once a United Kingdom travel ban is enforced, we would then push for a European Union travel ban and financial sanctions. The letter also calls on the MPs to ask the British law enforcement agencies to investigate Dimeji Bankole the speaker of the Nigerian House of Representatives with a view to initiating an investigation by the appropriate agencies into possible money laundering activities in the United Kingdom. Citizens For Change has obtained a copy of the evidence compiled by EFCC clearly showing the culpable role he played in the recent N5.4bn car contract scam at the National Assembly, and are able to supply it to the Serious Fraud Office of the Metropolitan Police as evidence. We are forced to take this step because President Goodluck Jonathan led government has so far demonstrated an utter lack of seriousness to fighting corruption thereby allowing corrupt political elite to cruelly loot the Nigeria treasury with impunity. We believe the act of sending the attached letter by every Nigerian resident in the United Kingdom, which should take no more than 5 minutes, would have a significant effect in changing the United Kingdom government attitude towards corrupt Nigerian politicians as Members of Parliaments would be inclined to exert their influence in favour of Nigerians based on the volume of the letters they receive from us, their constituents who elect them. We can take courage from the stern words and actions of Southwark Crown Court in jailing the wife, mistress and sister of James Ibori as well as the U.K continued actions to extradite this ex Nigerian governor from Dubai to face trial in the U.K. More concerted actions like this will put the corrupt ones in fear and maybe shame Nigeria’s judiciary and law enforcement to perform their duties to the Nigeria public. We hereby call on all groups interested in the progress of Nigeria that are based in the United States to come together and mobilise the Nigerians in America to send petitions and letters to their elected representatives to force the US governments to hold corrupt Nigerian politicians to account. How to contact your Member of Parliament in the UK. This should not take more than 5 Minutes! 1) Copy and paste this link into your browser: http://www.parliament.uk/mps-lords-and-offices/mps/ This link shows you the names of all the MPs and their constituents. 2) Under Search Options, sort by Constituency. This would be sorted in alphabetical order. 3) Locate your Constituency. Then click on the MPs beside it. 4) Click on the email address of the MP. You will then come to an email page. 5) On the subject, put Travel Ban on corrupt Nigerian Leaders. 6) Put your address at the top of the email. It is very important that each email sent has an address as MPs would be obliged to acknowledged and respond to your requests if they realise that you are one of their constituents. 7) Copy and paste the letter on this we blink on the body of the email (link would be put here once the letter has been published on the C4C website) Please blind copy (bcc) us at: governance@citizensforchangeglobal.orgThis will ensure that we chase up on the MP to ensure that they respond to your request. That’s it! Please pass this on to others Nigerians in the UK who you know are interested in the progress of Nigeria. Thank you Governance Team Citizens For Change. |

I am very disappointed that after all the facts, some Nigerians still consider IBB to be a reliable leader. Rejecting IBB in the election is not tribalism - Nigerians growup. Pastor Tunde Bakare is not a religious fanatic. He is a citizen of Nigeria who believes Nigerians must be free from slavery. That shows love for everyone - muslims, christians and pagans. Based on the facts we all know, IBB is bad news. |
