Ihedinobi: So he's not a Christian because unlike you he covered his tracks, because he failed to confess his failings, because he made a series of errors? How doomed would we be if you were the Judge of the whole earth?

You are confirming to me that he knew? What did his wife tell us? That he admitted to knowing his condition and failed to apprise her of it beforr marrying her? Or that she has strong reasons to believe that he knew and failed to tell her?

What do you suppose that you are answering here? My question was whether you decided that he's not a Christian because he deceived another Christian.
I will let this rest. I have made my point clear and I am not in mood to enter into religious argument. Yes, you can pray for me to reap whatever I sow. It is a good prayer for me bro....

A merciful God is also a God of Justice, equity and fairness.

Peace be unto you

Family › Re: Help!!!! My Husband Has Lost Interest In Sex by bellong:
This is a complicated issue as the cause may range from medical to psychological.

Have you ever sat down to discuss about it? You need to probe to know the root cause, maybe he has developed a medical condition he doesn't want you to know. Talk to him.

It could also be that he is going through one of financial trouble, work related stress and many other psychological issues he is keeping to himself. Talking with him to identify the root is the first step to solving the problem

You may also have done or still doing irritable things that put him off. Are you always clean? Do you argue with him on every issue? do you snub or nag at every given opportunity? Many more questions about you.

In essence, you both need to talk it out first.

I also explained to you that I have a relative coming to Nigeria on Thursday and for you to meet him at the airport to collect it from him. I am not collecting any money from you

My suggestion to you is to use it first, and if it doesnt work as expected then you go for a more expensive one.
@Cannonier, please respond to this and act promptly. Get the time of arrival and be there promptly. Don't be late, the people too have other things to do, please.

Somethings are better left undone than entering unnecessary arguments. There are other ways to celebrate your friend which will not bring suspicion and strife from your wife. You need to respect her always. To married ladies, using picture of another lady as your dp is disrespect. Your wife is right.

In between, you have earned enough trust from your wife, she wouldn't have picked issue out of it. Maybe your ways are always suspicious to her. Do not fight her over this. Let it rest and don't use ladies as Dp again since she doesn't buy the idea.

I may want to answer this from my religious conviction. I do pray and get confirmation from God about marital commitment. If she gets to tell me during courtship, it will only strengthen my bond with her.

Telling me already gives me an idea of the battle to fight and the long road to walk. If I never knew about it before asking her out, I will go back to God and ask if He wants me to continue with the relationship. If the King of Kings can tell me to go ahead, I am so sure that children are coming in abundance on the way. It may be long but they will definitely come.

WHy do you want a private university?

I do not know the fees for those private institutions but I know that even if you see one with a 300k fee this session, the fee is subject to increment yearly. SO think through it well.

If you can afford 300k, why not look at one of those European schools in English where you pay about the same amount.

Check Joseph Ayo babalola University, I think the fee is cheaper, am not sure though.
I think it's fair to say that the last paragraph which I bolded is the point you were trying to make. The funny thing is that you have done nothing but appeal to your own personal sentiments. That is useless in argument.

That you would have done or woupd not have done or that you did or did not do means exactly nothing. Simply put, this guy did not tell his intended wife that he was infertile, possibly because he was afraid of losing her, but we are not 100% sure that he even knew. He may have suspected, he may have wondered, he may have feared, he may even have known without a shade of doubt but we do not know. What we know is that he didn't tell her.

They got married. That's it. She, not knowing he couldn't give her kids, he, perhaps hoping for a miracle that would enable him to keep her. Whatever we might say or feel, the crux of the matter is that they have married. If she wants out it cannot be in consonance with Christ or the Scriptures. That is all.

Is God's Purpose for marriage there frustrated? Can you tell for sure? If it is not, by what authority are you declaring the contract invalid?
Brother, you have to explain to me the foundation God expects us to build a lasting, fruitful and happy union. If you believe that it can be established on lies and cannot be annulled because it was done inside a building, in the presence of priest, I disagree. If you say if she wants out, it cannot be in consonance with Christ or scripture, I disagree. I call that religion.

If you say God's purpose for marriage is not frustrated, what purpose will God want to achieve by being in a place with faulty foundation. A foundation must first be corrected before you can even consider the building.
If I were their pastor, I will declare it invalid by the auction of the Holy one and the authority of God's foundation which cannot be laid on deception but on truth, sincerity and continued steadfastness in His will.

If the guy believed in miracle, why didn't he tell the wife early when love was still burning in her heart, at that point it would have been easy for the wife to believe in him. But the man already shot himself in the foot by many actions of his as narrated by the wife. Why would someone called a christian and still tell lie or defraud a fellow brethren. It baffles me and you are here using the bible to blackmail someone knowing fully well that the core of what the scripture teaches had already been invalidated. Bible says we should not defraud one another, this emotional fraud bro.. It pains me that christians will act untowardly to each other and use bible to con somebody into what is not.

If you think that foundation is not important, I will need you to do a thorough research into so many christian homes of today and see what faulty foundations have caused. A lot of homes are in disarray but are just co-habitating but not living together. A lot of homes had attracted curses to innocent spouses and children because one of them conned the other into ungodly agreement. A lot of homes are example of Syrian civil war but pretend to be godly to unsuspecting folks... I cannot count numerous bad example of what marriages should not be, Why are these? Because they laid on faulty foundation and refused to rectify.

God is a God of mercy and at the same time God of justice, vengeance and righteousness. Though hand join in hand, a sinner will not go unpunished.

If the lady believe she has faith to stand by him and she is convinced that the guy too is ready to be completely converted, it is her choice to make to stand by him. It is not for anyone to threaten her with the bible. If she decides to take a walk, nothing will happen to her as the Lord liveth on whose foundation we lay what is truth and good.

This is where I always advice people, let not somebody looking sanctimonious in church deceive you. Ask that God X-ray people to you before entering marital covenant. Do not decide by the naked eyes but by the revelation of the spirit.

It is well with everyone
Family › Re: Your Sincere Opinion To A Sister Please!- Do you think I can get married again? by bellong: 8:04am On Jul 09, 2013
Ihedinobi: I completely agree. Do you think that this man has not repented and turned from his ungodly attitude? Do you suppose that he has remained in sin?

We are on the same page on this your answer. Do I think if the man repented? I am in no position to know anybody's sinful state but I am in a position to infer from actions, you will have to go through the poster's post about her husband's attitude and actions to confirm that. Someone who has sorrowfully repented from his ways will not use lies to cover up weakness, what happen to buy the truth and sell it not. He will not be seeing another girl behind and conceal it from the wife. Its no big deal seeing handwriting on the wall and knowing the wife want out to want to start preparing for a new lady. Why would he tell lie? Why would a regenerated person allow his family to take over his role in his own home? Why would someone who believes in God's forgiveness and ready to repent always try to cover his track? So many questions to ask bro.. If I do what is wrong, I confess to people involve, I do not cover my track. That is what God will have us do.

Lol. Is it now? Did you not mean what you said above that Christians still fail and make mistakes sometimes? You think he's not a Christian because he neglected to tell his fellow Christian that he couldn't father a child before marrying her? Lol. And we're still assuming that he knew his condition without a doubt, are we not? smiley

I am not assuming he knew, I am confirming to you that he knew. The wife has told us here and repeated herself overtime. I need not emphasize it. There is a difference between negligence and willful action. Let's assume he did it out of fear of losing her, why didn't he tell her long time before his family made the wife go through hell? I am sure if he had told her probably about two/three months after the wedding, the burning love in the lady would have given her heart room to look forward to a miracle and they will both go through it together. He would have protected her from the maltreatment of her family. If he believes that God can turn situation around, he would ave opened up a long time and fire the faith of his wife to believing in God for a turn around

The point of these questions is...? What foundation was destroyed?

I will put a question back to you. On what foundation is a christian marriage established? We may have not share fundamental philosophy on this issue if you believe a union can be established on lies, hypocrisy and deception. The foundation of the marriage was destroyed right before it started. Storms of life always test foundation of everything in life. Whatever was not founded on God will surely crash while the ones laid on the foundation of truth, sincerity and godliness will withstand it. Read the analogy of Jesus about foundation. If you mean that tying the knot inside a church building in the presence of priest is enough foundation for God to work on, we are on different page. Have you ever seen a building with weak and poor foundation withstand fiery storm? It can't because the foundation was wrong. Hence, the question, when the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do? The righteous will have to rebuild.

You sure took your time to pull this out. Been waiting for it for ages. grin

Sure He did command that we do. But is that command necessarily limited to child-bearing? cheesy

I do not like to jump at quoting scripture at every opportunity I have, I expected you to know that part hence, I didn't bring it up initially. Child-bearing is a fundamental part of that command. It says be fruitful and multiply. I left out the be fruitful part which is not limited only to child bearing but quoted the multiply part. How do you multiply if you bear no children? If child bearing was less important to God, why would He promise Abraham a seed that will multiply and be as the sea-sand. Why would every initial barren ladies in the scripture cried to God to open their womb. Why would God promise the children of Isreal that none will be barren among them? My brother, child-bearing is important because you have to raise people to fulfill and accomplish His purpose on Earth. There is more to it, God wants the world to be filled with godly people and if godly people think its not important, how can it be achieved?

I'm curious as to how this is so. After all, there is continued disharmony between even the best Christians and God but we continue to claim companionship with Him, don't we?
We have companionship with God despite our weakness because our faith and repentance were built on a solid foundation which was godly sorrow and sincere conversion. Someone asked the poster if her husband is a good man despite this situation, she narrated her experience. No companionship is based on continuous deceit, cover up and rigidity. There is nothing called best Christian my brother. Its either you are for God or not.

Didn't ask anything about your blaming him. If you cannot answer it, make no assumptions about it.
I have not made assumption about anything. I only answered based on the clear narration of the wife. God is not mocked, whatever a man sow, he shall reap in multiple. He that soweth wind, shall reap whirlwind. He that soweth deception and lies shall reap sorrow and rejection when its time.

@Op,

You sister called your bluff because you were using force in making her see what is wrong. It is a wrong way to correct a teenager, the more force you applied, the stronger their conviction to do that thing you are against especially relationship.

Her stuck with the guy may also have input from peer pressure, she wants to be among. Now, you need to apply wisdom in resolving this issue. Get the truth about the guy first. Talk to your sister about her found love, try to understand why she is stuck with him.
If its based on the lies the guy told her, try and find a way to let her discover the truth about him on her own.. Never ever tell her what you discover because she will tell the guy and he will deny it. You will end up looking like a fool.

She is at the age where can easily get derailed, what she needs from you now is love, understanding and matured discussion.

It is well with her

I have seen where a lady had her womb removed during abortion. When she became born again, she decided not to marry so as not to put burden on anyone.

Lo and behold a brother came to ask her hand in marriage, she told the brother her condition but the guy insisted on marrying her. Yes, they got married and about three years after, the lady conceived and delivered triplets. All because she laid a foundation of sincerity, trust and openness. The Lord granted them their heart desire.

He that must worship God, must worship Him in SPIRIT AND TRUTH. He is not an author of confusion... Laying foundation of deception already destroyed the fabric of the union
Family › Re: Your Sincere Opinion To A Sister Please!- Do you think I can get married again? by bellong: 5:05pm On Jul 08, 2013
@Ihedinobi,

Let me give you an example of my marriage, my wife had a serious and critical medical condition. Because of this condition, the guy she was supposed to wed called of the marriage one week to it after all preparations had been made. Her family lost a lot of money and emotional trouble during the period.

A year and more after that, I came up. I already knew about this stuff before approaching her because I did my due diligence. I was waiting whether she will tell me about it or not. If she had not told me, I would have taken a walk because I believe that the union will not be founded on a strong foundation of trust, faith and mutual agreement. I also told her everything I know about myself, medically, spiritually, family and name it because I wanted to have that boldness to answer the priest's question on the solemnization day.

The fact that we started on good foundation of trust, her medical condition is now history two months after the wedding. We joined hands to pray and God answered us, I need not run from church to church. The family are eternally grateful today to God and to me. I am also happy for the person I chose who never conned me to marry her.

If the husband understood the foundation of marriage and the truthfulness involve, he would have opened up and I know it will be history today. I believe in miracle, I enjoy it daily but I do not lay foundation on lies and deceit
Family › Re: Your Sincere Opinion To A Sister Please!- Do you think I can get married again? by bellong: 4:54pm On Jul 08, 2013
Ihedinobi: Do Christians show godly attitude all the time?
Christians do not show godly attitude all the time but the fact that they repent and sorrowfully turn from their ungodly attitude is what is more important to God. Not remaining in sin.

Ihedinobi: If procreation is not the sole purpose of marriage, then marriage is not frustrated by the failure of procreation. If it is not, then deceit as to one's ability to procreate does not render marriage invalid. As for why people get married, there are all kinds of subjective reasons, but we cannot judge the validity of a marriage contract by them because none of these people instituted marriage. Only the One Who did has the right to say what the Purpose of Marriage is and where that Purpose has been frustrated thus rendering the contract fraudulent, don't you agree?

Let me accept for the sake of argument that he deceived her. Now, did he realize that child-bearing was a make-or-break factor in the alliance?
Your argument is counter-productive. Why would a christian deceive a fellow christian into making a decision that affects destiny?
Why didn't he tell her after the wedding about his condition? Why did he not act when his siblings were tormenting her because of childlessness? Why didn't he lay a solid and truthful foundation for a new home?
If the foundation be destroyed, what can the righteous do says the scripture....

God who instituted marriage also commanded that we should multiply. When there is disharmony, the foundation and fabric of companionship is already broken.

I cannot answer if he realized whether its a make or break but if it is not, why would his family torment the poor lady?
I will not blame the guy for his medical condition, it is no problem of his, I will only blame him for not disclosing it.
Family › Re: Your Sincere Opinion To A Sister Please!- Do you think I can get married again? by bellong: 2:57pm On Jul 08, 2013
Ihedinobi: Alright then. Here's my full argument.

1. If marriage were solely for the purpose of bearing one's own biological children, then deceiving one's potential spouse as to one's ability to procreate is unforgivable and nullifies the marriage contract. So, the question here is: is marriage solely for procreation?

2. Can anyone give solid evidence, not circumstantial which may be explained in more than one plausible way, but solid evidence that the man in question lied about his fertility?

3. Considering the nature of the marriage contract and assuming that procreation is so big a deal to the parties involved, it behoves the concerned parties to make doubly sure that their potential partner is fertile. Did the op do everything within her power to ascertain the potential hubby's fertility? If she did not, she's partly responsible for the deceit that she complains of.

4. As for the husband's actions, I do not know enough about him to judge whether he may be a Christian or not.
To clear a part, I did not and will not judge the husband. I only pointed out something based on what the poster narrated that his actions do not show godly attitude.
Procreation may not be the only reason why someone should marry but it is ONE of the reasons why people marry that cannot be overemphasized nor overlooked.
The man in question did not lie but hid the truth about his condition. The condition is not something you can play down in relationship, its very important such is disclosed to the agreement of parties involved. Hiding it is deception.

The guy dodged the test when the poster went for tests, she trusted him enough not to push him in doing his. He was supposed to repay the trust by opening up.

Ihedinobi: Would you say that Rebecca deceived Isaac into marrying her? It's an argument I was refraining from using because I do not want to hurt the op anymore than she has been but I can't continue to avoid it because this is a public forum.
First agree that Rebecca never knew about any medical condition prior to marrying Isaac. The difference here is that the husband knew about his medical condition and he never disclosed not even after the wedding but until pressure was mounted. Do you call such an action a godly attitude?
You have to first understand who is a christian before dishing such advice. The fact that someone attends a church building does not qualify him/her as a christian, there must be regeneration to be reflected in actions. All the actions of the husband proved otherwise.
Family › Re: Your Sincere Opinion To A Sister Please!- Do you think I can get married again? by bellong: 1:45pm On Jul 08, 2013
Tgirl4real: U said that right...it is not the unpardonable sin, but there is a more excellent way.

The reason why this is becoming a very big issue is the fact that OP really wanna have kids. If not, she may have just forgiven him for lying to her and moved on with the union.
That is the reason why she came to this forum to unload her heart before some pharisees are making it difficult. I sincerely feel the pain of the husband in question that his medical condition is none of his fault. It became his fault when he refused to talk to the lady about it.
Had it been he told her, I will not support the divorce because she knew before making the choice. If I were in his shoes, I would have told her everything, Loving someone also involve letting go if it will be beneficial to the person.

Tgirl4real: Sincerely, I agree with u. Unfortunately, it is not a biblical grounds for divorce. If OP doesn't wanna live or address this issue on biblical grounds, I will be the first to tell her to take a walk cos it is only God that can sustain someone in such a situation.
We need to understand the context and cultural practice of Isreal about union before we can categorically talk about a divorce not being biblical or not.

For all the godly unions I have read in the scripture, there was none associated with deceit. Sincerity and truthfulness are the first step to a godly union. Whatever is laid on the foundation of lies and deceit is not laid on the foundation of God. The fact that somebody got married inside a church building does not make it a godly union unless God's standard about the process are fulfilled.

I believe that deceit is enough to annul the union without attraction of God's wrath. If the husband is godly in himself, he would have opened up during the courtship knowing that there is nothing God cannot do. He would have proved himself overtime and earned the undying love of his wife to stand by him during this trying times.

Guitarlife: On another note, the OPs husband is not impotent, he is only infertile like some people have already pointed out. That means he is capable and indeed carries out his conjugal duties. You quoted bible to support a claim but in the second paragraph you couldn't lay claim to the same bible to see where deep rooted belief of Africa about children came from. The last I remember, for procreation includes one of the reasons of marriage.
I do not like it when people bring comparison with Europeans and Americans in every issue, that is a sign of inferiority complex. The poster is none of the races you mentioned and entitled to her belief or right of having a child of her own.

You wrote as if it is a conventional practice in Europe and USA for couples to plan not to have children in marriage. Get a better analogy bro, that European/American one sucks
