Her father leaving at the time could be the best thing to happen to her. He was and still a chronic drug addict, if he had stayed, he could have battered her life and that of the mother. She may not have become a medical doctor today.

She has the opportunity now to forgive him and help him with her medical skills. You never can tell maybe this will help him break his addiction. If she doesn't forgive him, the man will become bitter and live his life in regret which may lead to suicide.

She should forgive and let go..Its not by her strength alone she is what is today.

Its very obvious that your alfas do not understand basic science.

Let me help their ignorance, for effective burning fire, it needs oxygen in the form of wind. Although I do not buy into their vision but what they claimed they saw is actually in your support.

Her wind will fuel the fire of love between you two. Go in peace and marry your girl.

Don't forget to invite the alfas to the Nikkah.

ayans4: Thanks Bellong,
I met him in church, and one of the reasons I got married to him is that he "appeared" (now I know better)to be God fearing that's my number 1 quality, then he does not drink alcohol,.....then he is homely.
Thank you for the response. I asked because some people thought that you heard God told you to marry him knowing the problems he has. A lesson is that not all those that put up sanctimonious face and attitude in the church fear the Lord. Some are there to deceive and cover up secrets. That is why I always advocate having a personal relationship and devotion with God. Learn to hear directly from Him about all issues and not from Pastors or prophets. Theirs should only be a confirmation of what you know.

To the religious folks who think DECEIT is not a basis for divorce, Why does the priest ask this question from the couple before the solemnization.."If any of you know any reason why you should not be joined in holy matrimony, he/she should speak..." The question directed to the couple before the congregation. The question is normally asked for situation like this.

OP, I would have recommended you stick with him believing a miracle but from what you have painted about him, he is not ready for such nor ready to make his path straight with God. If and when you eventually decide to follow the divorce path, After doing your due diligence, learn to hear and get concrete information from DIVINE about who you will eventually settle with. It is well with you

salamudeen: Morning advisers and well wishers and NL as a whole I overcome the greatest decision of all but like seriously this APETITE of a thing is disturbing I can't just eat @ all please my questions is

1..How can I overcome this cus am becoming tiny day by day

2..Is there any drug that I can take to make me rush any kind of food I see cus I only take sugary things like chocolate, ice cream and anything that has sugar in it

Pls and pls Nairalanders don't be tired with my complains ..

Lastly THANK u all and God bless
Your loss of appetite is as a result of your initial plan to commit suicide and you still have the hang-over effect of thinking about your situation too deeply.

You need to first get over thinking too much, then your appetite will be restored. Even drugs may not help you regain appetite, it will only make you go hungry. If you insist on wanting a drug, folic acid will be a good supplement for you.

So stop thinking to regain your lost appetite.

ayans4: @ Stegomiah, thanks for your contribution, but even before we got married, I asked him if he was believing God for any healing as he was always talking about healing and miracles....
after our marriage, when we pray, its either he prays that "he that calls forth the things that are not as if they were....." or he says we are fruitful and productive in season and out of season.....those were part of what raised my brows....though I initially took them as innocent prayer points....
Please I want you to give me a sincere and unseasoned answer to the question I will ask below.

How did you meet him and what was your conviction about him before you married him? What formed your final decision in marrying him?

Your sincere response will go a long way to educate some people and put somethings in perspective.
Thank you
Family › More US Babies Die On Their First Day Than In 68 Other Countries by bellong(op):
The U.S. is a worse place for newborns than 68 other countries, including Egypt, Turkey and Peru, according to a report released Tuesday by Save the Children.

A million babies die every year globally on the same day they were born, including more than 11,000 American newborns, the report estimates. Most of them could be saved with fairly cheap interventions, the group says.

“The birth of a child should be a time of wonder and celebration. But for millions of mothers and babies in developing countries, it is a dance with death,” the report reads. “A baby’s first day is the most dangerous day of life—in the United States and countries rich and poor,” it adds.

“The United States has the highest first-day death rate in the industrialized world. An estimated 11,300 newborn babies die each year in the United States on the day they are born. This is 50 percent more first-day deaths than all other industrialized countries combined.”

Globally, most babies who die at birth die because they were born too early – 35 percent of all newborns who die were pre-term, Save the Children finds. Another 23 percent die because of complications at birth, such as a failure to draw breath right away. Another 23 percent die from severe infections and 9 percent die because of birth defects.

The report is the first to dissect out specifically deaths on the first day of life.

Save the Children says it’s not precisely clear why the United States does so poorly in protecting newborns, but says politics and culture both play a role.

“Many babies in the United States are born too early. The U.S. preterm birth rate (1 in 8 births) is one of the highest in the industrialized world (second only to Cyprus). In fact, 130 countries from all across the world have lower preterm birth rates than the United States,” the report reads.

Teen births are partly to blame, the report says – echoing other research that has shown this. The U.S. has the highest teenage birth rate of any industrialized country.

“Teenage mothers in the U.S. tend to be poorer, less educated, and receive less prenatal care than older mothers. Because of these challenges, babies born to teen mothers are more likely to be low-birth weight and be born prematurely and to die in their first month. They are also more likely to suffer chronic medical conditions, do poorly in school, and give birth during their teen years (continuing the cycle of teen pregnancy),” the report says.

“Poverty, racism and stress are likely to be important contributing factors to first-day deaths in the United States and other industrialized countries.”

The March of Dimes, a charity that focuses on healthy births, says infant mortality fell by 12 percent between 2005 and 2011, and premature births have fallen by 8.5 percent since 2006. "This rate reduction has meant 125,000 fewer premature births and an estimated cost savings of about $2 billion," the group said in a statement. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 24,586 U.S. babies died before they turned 1 in 2010, compared to 23,910 in 2011.

"This has been accomplished with a variety of known, effective health interventions, including: providing access to health care to all women of childbearing age; risk reduction, including not smoking during pregnancy; progesterone treatments for women who have had a previous preterm birth; better management of fertility treatments to reduce multiple gestations; hospital quality improvement initiatives to eliminate elective early inductions and cesarean deliveries before 39 completed weeks of pregnancy."

Half of all U.S. pregnancies are unplanned, another complicating factor, the report says. Women whose pregnancies are accidental are much less likely to take good care of themselves and to get thorough prenatal care, from vaccines to vitamins, that can protect the baby and her.

“High-quality care before, during and after pregnancy (including home visits by nurses or community health workers if appropriate) and access to the appropriate level of care at the time of delivery can result in healthier mothers giving birth to healthier babies,” the report says. Such home visits are common in Europe, but very unusual in the United States.

The report also strongly links a country’s politics to its newborn death rate. “Women hold only 18 percent of seats in the United States Congress,” the report says. “Sixteen countries have more than double this percentage of seats occupied by women. In Finland and Sweden, for example, women hold 43 and 45 percent of parliamentary seats, respectively.”

Finland and Sweden have the lowest rates of newborn deaths in the world.

More children die at birth in India than anywhere else, followed by Nigeria, Pakistan and China, the report finds.

But four products costing between 13 cents and $6 each could save one million newborns a year, the report says. They are: simple bag-and-mask devices to help babies breathe; the antiseptic chlorhexidine to prevent umbilical cord infections, antibiotics to treat infections; and steroid injections to delay preterm labor. “Save the Children estimates that within the first month of life, more than 1 million babies could be saved each year with universal access to these products,” the report reads.

“Other low-cost interventions such as kangaroo mother care and early and exclusive breastfeeding would save many more babies.” Kangaroo care is skin-to-skin contact that keeps babies warm and stimulated.

Education is also key, the group says. “The more time girls spend in school, the later they marry and begin childbearing. Educated girls also are more likely to grow up to be mothers who are healthy, well-nourished, economically empowered and resourceful when it comes to caring for themselves and their babies. “

Bangladesh is one success story – it has has reduced newborn mortality by 49 percent since 1990, the report says. “Increased family incomes, lower fertility rates and higher levels of female education likely account for a significant share of this success,” it says. Door-to-door health workers have also helped, it says.

We need to understand that so many deceivers are plenty in church today to cover their story and lure innocent and unsuspecting people to bondage like this.

The husband knew his condition and believed the easiest place to cover up his frailty and weakness is in the church where some Christians are gullible enough not to do their due diligence.

If a situation like this arises, there is no short cut to it, divorce him and chart a new course for your life. I will stand by this. If your husband believe in miracle or the power of God to transform his condition, he wouldn't have told you a lie or hid his condition from you. He wouldn't let his family subject you to such initial ridicule, he wouldn't allow you to pressurize him before doing the needful. He is not fit to have a woman as a wife. He lost it completely.

I am not a religious person, am only a disciple of Christ. I still stand by my initial submission, test run does not solve any problem. The most potent way as a Christian is to get the manual of an individual from the manufacturer. ASK GOD IN PRAYER..HE WILL REVEAL EVERY HIDDEN THINGS TO YOU. IT HAS AND STILL WORKING IN OUR LIVES.
I did not mean to be so blunt. But I don't believe the problem here is sex addiction. If you read his post, he said he started sex at age 11, sex at that very young age can be dangerous. Humans react differently, you will have some who are victims of sexual abuse and they never become promiscuous. Then you have others who are abuse and they have zero control over their sexual desire.

Who was having sex with him at age 11? Was it an agemate or an adult? Agemate or adult doesn't make any difference cos it is still sexual abuse. He doesn't have sex addiction, his behaviour stems from being sexualised at a very young age, that is the root of his problem. He needs to deal with this trauma so he can heal properly. I will advice to go seek a professionally trained counselor or he will continue having this issue
This should have come earlier. You have a point here. What I didn't agree with in your previous post is where you said he cannot overcome it as he must find a way of satisfying his drive/addiction.

Now, he realises the problem and he is taking conscious effort to remedy the situation, all what he needs is advice and encouragement not the previous impossible task you suggested. Your new post is a good advice for him.

Thank you
[s]In my opinion there is no such thing as sex addiction, it is a cope out and an excuse to say I am not a asewo. You are just a guy with high sex drive, who most likely has no business being married. There are so many argument about whether sex addiction is real or not real. In my opinion, i believe it is not real. You, my friend, are just a guy who has a high sex drive and one woman cannot satisfy you. The reality of the matter is, those urges will come back and most likely you will satisfy them, that is a FACT[/s]
^^^ Crap...

@OP,

Let nobody confuse you. You have chosen to do what is right and it is achievable. We as humans are meant to control our sex-ual drive and not the other way round. Its one of the differences between an animal and human being.

If you like the lady and comfortable with her person to spend the rest of your life with her, there is nothing wrong in giving her a chance. There is a Yoruba adage that says "a man saw a snake, a woman killed it, it doesn't matter who killed it but what matter is the snake to die"

Give her a chance if you like her too.

Since you are very good with computer, why not start writing professional exams in that area. You can even start your computer training institute with microsoft affiliation.

Bro, you have a lot of choices on your hands because you have the resources. Having a university degree is not the end only a mean to an end. There are several means to reach a destination.
Ask yourself, what exactly do you want from life? what do you set to become? Is your principal problem lack of admission or there is another thing to it?

There are private universities you can go, there are cheap foreign universities you can attend.. you have a lot of choices open to you. Forget JAmB and look for an alternate route since you have the resources.

Never ever compare yourself with another, its the worst thing you can do to your life.

It is well with you

Nashville: Perfect analysis. They just see the poster as a "mere wife" who should cook, clean and "sleep" with the husband. Both brothers are exactly the same and it might be because of their upbringing. It will take years to educate such people and doing gra-gra will not solve anything because they just can't see any wrong in their behaviour. Their mentality is completely different. The solution is just hoping, praying and gently encouraging the BIL to move out.
If the two brothers do not get a brain reset about marriage, even if the BIL moves out, their houses will only be an extension of each other.
Its a long hard road which is not impossible to achieve for the wife. Like CC said, she needs extreme patience, tact and prayers to help break that bond.
