The Lagos Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, December 17, 2021, secured the conviction and sentencing of one Linda Mabi-Praise, a self-acclaimed prophetess, before Justice S.O. Solebo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos for an alleged N128 million fraud, IgbereTV reports.

Mabi-Praise, who was charged with three counts, was alleged to have, with intent to defraud, dishonestly obtained the said sum from Accelsor Investment Partners Limited in the guise that her company, Mutano Energy Ltd., was an accredited oil and gas dealer and that she was into oil and gas dealership.

Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on 12 counts bordering on use of false documents, use of fabricated evidence, procuring execution of documents by false pretence, and fabricating evidence, IgbereTV reports.

Precious Chikwendu Is At Liberty To See Her Sons At Anytime - Femi Fani-Kayode's Lawyer

Femi Fani-Kayode's lawyers have responded to Precious Chikwendu's claim of being granted a court order to see their four children, at least three times this festive period, IgbereTV reports.

Precious Chikwendu who had raised an alarm of "court orders being ignored again", stated that she is not asking for too much.

Responding to the claim, the former Minister of Aviation's lawyer who noted that they asked Precious' lawyer to give them more time to confer with their client on her proposition on December 14, accused her of trying to incite the public against FFK with the claim she made on December 16, 2021.

Accusing the mother of four of misrepresenting the court order, they maintained that she is at liberty to see her children and it has always been so.

FFK's lawyers also insisted that the court only directed that they reach an agreement on a schedule.

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, has described him as a stingy but generous man, who does not throw money at things or allow misappropriation of public funds, IgbereTV reports.

Speaking in a statement on Friday, December17, he said, “The President lives in a modest house in Daura, Katsina State. He has been everything possible, held positions which could have made him stinking rich: Governor of a territory which now covers six states. Minister of Petroleum for over three years. Head of State. Chairman of Petroleum Trust Fund, with billions of naira in his care.

A civilian President, running out his second term of four years each, in another 17 months. And yet he remains a man of modest means. Let me tell you a story. Have you been to the Buhari home in Daura? Modest, modest, modest, is what the structure shouts at you, as you approach.

Former interim chairman of APC and ex-Governor of Osun State, Bisi Akande, has said that he has never given or demanded a bribe all his life, IgbereTV reports.

In his autobiography “My Participations” unveiled last Thursday, Akande said his take-home pay while in office was nothing compared to what he earned when he was in public service and that he never ventured into collecting bribes or giving any while in office.

He wrote;

“As SSG and Deputy Governor, my take home pay was much lower than what I was earning as an executive of BP. In the two offices I held, I had no authority to approve government expenditure. I never took bribe and never gave bribe to anyone.

No one ever wrote any petition against me to the EFCC, ICPC or the police for any fraud or wrongdoing during my term of office.

I never gave or demanded bribe from anyone all my life. All of us who served in my government, all my commissioners and others, came out the way we went in. No one was richer and not a single one of my political appointees was indicted after we left office despite that an opposition party came to power after us.

The house of assembly may have found common cause with Omisore because of money. The members complained that we did not give them money and cars. We could not because we simply did not have money.

The trick, I was told, was that any time a notice of trade dispute was served to the government, the Osun State leadership of the Joint Negotiating Councils, the Nigerian Union of Teachers, the National Union of Local Government Employees and the Nigerian Labour Congress would be bribed with money to soft-pedal and cooperate with the government,” he said.

SS1 student Arrested For Lacing Her Guardian's Food With Rat Poison In Ogun (Photo)

An eighteen-year-old senior secondary School student has been arrested by men of ogun state police command for allegedly attempting to kill her guardian one Mrs. Esther Bada by poisoning her food, IgbereTV reports.

The suspect Tope Fasanya was arrested following a complain by the victim, who reported that she was served food by her maid, and immediately after eating the food, she felt a sharp stomach pain and became very uncomfortable.

''When the pain was becoming so severe, she called the maid to come and eat the remaining food but she refused. This made her to suspect foul play on the part of the maid.

Upon the report, the victim was quickly taken to Owode Egba general hospital, from where she was referred to Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta for proper medical treatment. The suspect was subsequently arrested.

On interrogation, the suspect initially denied and she was transferred to homicide section of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department.

On getting there, she made a confessional statement that she actually added rat poison substance to the victim's food.'' the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said.

The police spokesperson added that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect has been living with the woman since when she was in primary three, and the woman was her class teacher then. Following the death of her father, the victim volunteered to help the girl by taking her to live in her house, and sponsoring her education.

''It was the victim that sponsored the suspect's education up till her present class. When asked why she decided to kill her benefactor, the suspect who described the victim as a very caring person said that she only wanted to return to her mother and she can only do that if her guardian is no more.'' Oyeyemi added

The commissioner of police, CP Lanre Bankole has directed that the suspect be arraigned in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

Anambra State-born billionaire oil businessman and Chief Executive Officer of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, Prince Arthur Eze, was captured riding bicycle around his home while his security men ran along to guard him, IgbereTV reports.

EFCC Docks Entertainer for Dud Cheque

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abuja Zonal Command today, December 7, 2021, arraigned one Simon Oshi, a 28-year-old businessman and entertainer before Justice N. Osun -Adebiyi for alleged issuance of dud cheque, IgbereTV reports.

The defendant was alleged to have received 400 pieces of iPads from Aweskim Technologies Limited and issued a cheque of N38,000,000:00 (Thirty-Eight Million Naira) only to the supplier as consideration for payment, but the cheque was returned unpaid due to insufficient funds standing to the credit of the drawer.

The police in Adamawa state have apprehended a 16-year-old boy, Sunza Samuel, for being in possession of a revolver pistol, IgbereTV reports.

A statement released by DSP Suleiman Ngoroje, spokesperson of the state police command, says the command's operatives attached to Ngurore in Yola south local government while on confidence building patrol apprehended the sixteen year old with the arm.

In a related development, the command's operatives attached to Anti Shilla squad on December 1 disconnected a criminal network and recovered a large quantity of weeds in a certain hideout, situated at a remote side of Jambutu, Yola North.

JUSTICE DELAYED IS NOT ALWAYS JUSTICE DENIED.

Exactly two years ago on the 2nd day of December, 2019, after the funeral ceremony of my elder brother- Late Rev. Chukwukpelum Louis Ejiofor, my ancestral home in Oraifite Anambra State, was invaded by a team of Security agents comprising of the Nigerian Police, Army and others. Four persons were killed in my compound, and all the houses within my ancestral home including my brothers' houses and neighbouring houses were burnt down on that fateful day.

I instituted a suit for the enforcement of my fundamental rights grossly violated by the said Security agents.

The Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, today, 2nd December, 2021 delivered a well considered judgment in my favour.
The Court found that the security agents grossly violated my fundamental rights and consequently awarded the sum of N50 million only in my favour against the Police, the Army and others, as compensation for the gross violation of my fundamental rights, and further awarded the sum of N2 million Naira only, as the cost of the action.

The judgment may have been delayed, but the fact that the Court found that my rights were grossly infringed upon and condemnable, will go a long way to assuage the pains and trauma I have been passing through over the past two years, on account of that terrible and heart wrenching experience.

I return all glory to the Almighty ChukwuOkike Abiama. May the spirit of the innocent souls killed in that bloody invasion continue to haunt those who killed them till the end of time. Isee!!!

I shall not relent in my pursuit for justice for the deceased because there must be reparation on account of their unjust killing.

This earned them criticisms from Nigerians. Some people accused them of collecting money to endorse Tinubu.

Reacting Foluke said she and her colleagues' presence at the gathering had nothing to do with politics.

She said though she's a card carrying member of the APC, they were not there to endorse any candidate, instead they were there for a peace and unity campaign.

Foluke also added that she wasn't paid money to endorse anyone.

"When in 2004 I was called up to serve in the Government of President Obasanjo together with other young and visionary turks, what preoccupied our minds was how to better the lot of our Nation. To this, we gave our all and the book makers have been fair to us in their analysis.

However, in looking at this picture this evening, I recall the events and experiences that shaped us for the task of public service, during my days in the Brookings institution. It was President Obasanjo who captured it in the words that make great meaning; and to those who wish to learn, I believe there is a thing or two of value to take way.

He said to us;

"If you want to be successful in public service or political leadership, you must have a second address".

These words continue to resonate in my head, even though I think President Obasanjo spoke from the knowledge of a valuable past - - the period when our political founding fathers were first renowned in their private endeavours, sought knowledge across the length and breadth of the world, before presenting themselves for political leadership.

Today, we have a growing crop of young people who see politics as a means of livelihood. More saddening is the growing sense of entitlement where majority now seek to get something for doing absolutely nothing to enhance the system. There is a lot to be done. But, we must start from the reorientation of our minds.
