Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has said that the Southeast governors, Ohaneze Ndigbo and other important persons in the zone are making efforts for Nnamdi Kanu to be released from detention as soon as possible, IgbereTV reports.

Umahi said this during the 2021 harvest, thanksgiving and bazaar of the Father Ejike Mbaka's Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria (AMEN), held in Enugu today 24th October 2021.

He used the opportunity to plead with Father Mbaka not to say anything against Nigerian president, Muhammadu Buhari, when he visits the Southeast.

Umahi donated thirty million naira (₦30 million), 200 yams and 100 bags of rice during the thanksgiving service.

He advised Nigerian leaders to provide good governance to the masses who elected them.

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and other dignitaries were present at the occasion.

The pot was constructed to reduce cooking gas consumption, following the rising cost of cooking gas in Nigeria.

A 25-year-old man, Bala Hassan has bagged a two year jail senetence for allegedly referring to policemen as thieves, IgbereTV reports.

Bala Hassan was handed the jail sentence on Tuesday September 21, after being convicted by a Yola Criminal Area Court 2.

According to information from court documents, Bala was arrested in Yola on Monday September 19, during a crime prevention patrol led by Inspector Ishaya Buba of Jimeta Police Division and charged with being in possession of dry leaves suspected to be indian hemp.

After being brought to the divisional police headquarters for further investigation following an unsatisfactory account he gave, he rained curses on the police, saying all of them are nothing but thieves.

In a First Information Report (FIR) tendered in court by Inspector Danjuma Hamidu, it was alleged that Bala said he would rather die than join the Nigeria Police Force because policemen are criminals.

After admitting calling police officers thieves on Tuesday September 21, the Judge, Hon Nuhu Musa Garta sentenced him to two years in prison but gave him an option of a N50,000 fine.

A serving female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) identified as Oluwale Abidemi was crushed to death by a tipper in Benin City, Edo State.

According to IgbereTV reports, the fatal accident occurred along the busy Airport Road by suburban Ogba River bridge on Wednesday, September 22.

IgbereTV gathered that the tipper which was said to be conveying sand had a brake failure and ran into a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) before hitting a commercial motorcycle conveying a woman and the serving corps member.

The woman sustained life-threatening injuries while the deceased Corps member whose remains have since been deposited at an unknown mortuary died right on the spot.

Spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, DSP Kotongs Bello said the accident happened at about 12:30 pm.

"Today, about 12:30 pm, a tipper carrying sand failed brake at Ogba bridge and ran into a Lexus SUV and a motorbike," he stated.

"The motorbike was conveying one Mrs Maria who was badly injured and now receiving treatment at the Central Hospital, Benin and a youth corps member who was said to be the sister of Maria, died on the spot.”

Occupants Of Car Crushed By 40-Ft Container in Lagos Speak Out After They Survived (Photos, Video)

The occupants of a car, who came out alive after a 40-ft container fell on their vehicle and crushed it, have spoken out days after the incident, IgbereTV reports.

Three friends - two women and one man - ordered a ride on Bolt on Sunday, September 19.

However, in the course of their journey earlier this week, a "40-ft container" fell on their car and crushed it. Despite being in the car beneath the container for hours, all occupants emerged alive.

After the accident, the ladies have taken to Instagram to thank God for their lives while sharing footage of the wreckage they were pulled out from. They also shared footage of themselves in hospital, receiving treatment after the accident.

2 Nigerian Women Who Have Been Friends For 80 Years Celebrate As One Of Them Turns 90 (Photo, Video)

Two Nigerian women who have been friends for 80 years are currently being celebrated online after one of them turned 90 years old while the other will be 90 in December, IgbereTV reports.

In a video shared on social media, the man who recorded them celebrating in matching apparel, said;

Director-General of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Salihu Lukman has claimed that some All Progressives Congress (APC) members are against the defection of Femi Fani-Kayode to the APC, IgbereTV reports.

Salihu in a statement released on Sunday September 19, said the protest against Fani-Kayode joining the APC has to do with his "venomous nature".

The PGF DG stated that the defection was made worse by the red carpet reception given to FFK, noting that the former Minister of Aviation doesn’t deserve it.

The statement read;

“The protest against Fani-Kayode joining the APC has to do with his venomous nature, he abuses, insults, and disparages everybody, almost indiscriminately.

“Almost every member of APC is angry that our leaders have brought someone like Fani-Kayode into our party. This is made worse by the red carpet reception given to him, which he doesn’t deserve.

“But since it has happened, there is no need to cry over spilled milk. What is very clear is that our leaders, especially President Buhari have forgiven Fani-Kayode and embrace him as one of us.

“Contrastingly, those who are consistent and loyal to our party and our leaders hardly gained the deserved respect they should have.

“This may not necessarily be intended, but it is there. Be that as it may, members need to move forward with every confidence and commitment to engage our leaders.

“To that extent, therefore, party members should respect the decision of our leaders to admit Fani-Kayode and welcome him with a red carpet reception.

“On no account should we be distracted. If Fani-Kayode needs a red carpet reception to be a member of APC, millions of party members have demonstrated that they don’t need any form of recognition to work for Nigeria.

“Being very consistent and stable members of the APC, we should also recognise that the party is partly what it is today on account of our little contributions over the years.”

A video of villagers in Dagbalodo community in Patigi LGA of Kwara state, digging up holes in sand for dirty water which they drink, use to cook and use for other household activities has gone viral, IgbereTV reports.

An interpreter who captured the scene on video, said the villagers dig the holes and scoop the dirty water which has accumulated into a bowl, and then wait for it to accumulate again.

After the video was shared online, Nigerians are now appealing to authorities to get the community the necessary help it needs.
