I am not even a Barca fan, if you were a regular visitor here, you would know that. Always jumping hastily into conclusion. Typical Nigerian. Now run off to your thread, if you even have any. cheesy
Kholiwe:
Typical Barca fan. All rant but nothing upstairs but okey dokey.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 1:57pm On Nov 19, 2020
It's ok, no too boil. All ronaldo fan boys are projectors and predictors. Coulda, woulda and shoulda. cheesy grin. You literally use projections where it doesn't necessarily apply. Don't you get tired of creating unrealistic scenarios in your head? But anyway i would like to end this discussion. It's gone stale, perhaps we can go back to talking about issues that conform to the purpose of this group.
Kholiwe:
I repeat Messi has enjoyed playing with better players all through his career than Ronaldo. Add in that factor. Put Ronaldo in that Barca side and he will shatter all football record.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 1:50pm On Nov 19, 2020
Oh really, Ronaldo has been playing with farmers, en? Shame no dey catch you.

Oh my oh my, what kind of bullshit stat is this? Very disingenuous. cheesy Earlier you put forward a stat that considered 476 and 438 games for Messi and Ronaldo repsectively, but now you carefully selected 101 games to create a semblance of a higher number of assists. cheesy grin. You no go take laugh kill me. Let me help you out. In the number of games mentioned above they had 176 and 119 assists respectively. I'll let you do the ratio yourself. cheesy grin. Wetin pain me pass be say you no get shame to post that stat.Ah. cheesy. You no try at all. Sorry for going through all the trouble of carefully selecting that stat. cheesy
schurley:
Here you go boss cool cool cool

UCL

Ronaldo

Games 101
Goals 105
Assists. 27

Messi

Games. 92
Goals. 83
Assists. 20

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 6:33pm On Nov 18, 2020
Yes, your head dey there. cheesy grin. Ronaldo has a slightly better goal to game ratio. Now, look at the assists. Don't ignore it.
schurley:
Ronaldo
Overall goals: 450 goals, 438 games,
Games - Goals ratio: 1.02

Messi
Overall goals: 472 goals, 477 games,
Games - Goals ratio: 0.98

What eles?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 6:27pm On Nov 18, 2020
Be specific man. Goal to game or Goal to minutes played. Also please if you want to talk about goal to anything, it should be for the entire period they competed in the same league.
schurley:
Prove it, Ronaldo had more best goal ratio for the time spent in the Laliga, that should tell you something. bring out their stats.

Has he been fired? cool
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 12:43pm On Nov 18, 2020
Saying he's better cos he's two years younger by itself is not a sound argument. If it's a projection, as in cos he's two years younger he would have topped Ronaldo in most statistical categories at the same age. But well it may never happen. His decline could be slow, and so ensures the prediction would come true.
Karleb:
The instance was not meant for Messi alone. I included Ronaldo.

Bottom line is, Messi benefited a lot for joining Barcelona the same way Ronaldo benefited from joining Manchester united.

Saying Messi is better because he's two years younger than Ronaldo while not factoring in the the age they started first team football and the clubs they started with is not a valid line of argument.

A Messi minion might enjoy that but it's not valid.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 12:21pm On Nov 18, 2020
Yes i know, but it's not a reasonable one. I mean there are a lot of variables you are not considering. You are assuming if Messi was playing for Athletico, he would be the only thing that changes. Maybe Simeone won't be their coach. Maybe we never see Godin in an Athletico shirt. Maybe we never see Griezmann in an Athletico shirt and so on and so forth. You see you need to consider as many variables as possible. And if you do, the thought of it would tire you.
Karleb:
Oga, it's an hypothetical case. Giving an instance. It's common in arguments unless you don't argue much.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 12:12pm On Nov 18, 2020
True. But you don't have to start arguing along the same lines. But well if you had opined that as a way to tell them their argument is bullshit, then that's fair game, I can accept that. cheesy grin
randomperson:
But people use it as a point against Messi. That he had it easy because he started at Barca.

They forget that Messi started at Barca because he was already good at 13. So it was not by sheer luck he made it to Barca at that age, so why criticize him for that?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 12:09pm On Nov 18, 2020
You have the mind to tell me to discredit such a wack analogy? cheesy. Arguably, the greatest ruler of all time was Napolean cos he conquered several lands, so the greatest footballer of all time must be Ronaldo, cos he hopped from one team to another. Wow. Friend, i know your line of reasoning regarding this subject, I would rather not continue with this. If he was playing in Argentina, i would probably agree with you, in that case, he has to move somewhere more competitive. But this guy plays for a team in a league that's been adjudged the best for the better part of a decade, but you insist he must move.
I am going to say this again, please think deeply about any argument before dumping it on my lap. I usually do my due diligence. Please how far has Ronaldo ever gotten at the world cup? Still, i don't hold that against him. I mean if Higuain had made the most of the chances he had in the 2010 world cup final, we could be talking about something else, perhaps you would be finding another excuse. cheesy. But well he never did. Fate happens to us all.

This GOAT debate will never be resolved fully, only that one person will have a majority of the GOAT vote, most probably less than 50% self. Pele won 3 world cups, but many will argue he never played in the most competitive league, which doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't the best. Some could say he played in Brazil most of his life.

On your governor/king argument. The last time i checked the reign of kings is long past. Their power pales in comparison to that of the governors. You don't have to look too far for evidence. It's right there in that country called Nigeria. grin. Unless you are queen Elizabeth and a few other monarchs, you don't want to be a king/queen today. You want to be a governor, the president.

odizeey:
Discredit the analogy with points.

You can't be king of football from Spain.

The kings all meet in the world cup, with different tools, to fight but Messi ghosts.

Kings sojourn, to test waters but Messi stays put.

A king is different from a governor ( greats like Scholes, Pirlo, Xavi, who are governors of midfield ).

A king test waters. Messi is a governor. cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 11:31am On Nov 18, 2020
Permit me to say this, what kind of bullshit argument is this? cheesy. Coulda, woulda.Ah. cheesy
Karleb:
For argument purposes, do you believe (or agree) that Messi (or Ronaldo) would win a Ballon d'or if he played for Athletico Madrid for 4 years at his prime?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 11:30am On Nov 18, 2020
I am a Messi fan too, but this argument has a very weak foundation. It doesn't really matter when you started making waves. In the end it's your career against mine. I mean i could be struggling through my formative years, then just explode. So the 13-year-old argument doesn't hold water.
randomperson:
Is it Messi's fault that Ronaldo was not good enough to make it onto a big team at 13 years old.

That's how you know who's the best, one has been making waves since 13, the other had to wait for a few more years cool
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 7:49am On Nov 18, 2020
This is my problem. You are using analogies that do not quite fit. Honestly, what has land conquering or empire expansion got to do with the greatness of a footballer?. They are as far away from each other as possible. I am a little disappointed you don't see this analogy has too many faulty lines. I can't help but assume you just don't like the guy, so there's always the tendency to find any moot excuse to discredit that man. It's ok. It's ok.
odizeey:
You can do better sha.

The point is that you can't compare someone who has been in on place to someone who has been in multiple places, overcoming the challenges.

He try. But only kings. Do that stuff. In the old days kings conquer lands. They don't sit one place. Na wetyn make David go sleep with person wife be that.

Edopesin:
Rohr...

"We have a young team, it was a shock the other day after the injury of Victor Osimhen, everybody was afraid [and] today, they wanted to fight for him, they did it, they [fought] very well.

“And I think this draw now still keeps us top of the table we have to play another two games now, its Benin and Lesotho and normally, it’s not official but we are very close now to qualification so also the result of Benin who made a draw against Lesotho all the games are difficult they’re are no little opponents everybody is well organised.”

Sound foreign coach? That one na lotto ooo. cheesy. Where you wan find am? Hence the need to put our house in order.
chucs:
Everything about Africa is abnormal. The match today was horrible to say the least, from the pitch to the visuals and commentary. Same substandard pitch and visuals was noticed in the earlier fixture played in Benin. By the way, why can't we watch the national team on the national TV? Corruption everywhere.

As for Rohr, we all know that he is not technically sound but we are not matured enough to have an indigenous coach, in my opinion. Federal character will be the order of the day if that should happen. We have all seen it in the past.

I will suggest we go for a sound foreign coach. Unfortunately, those in the glass house would prefer a grade Z coach as usual for reasons best known to them.

Typical Nigerian. Make i dey move from one place to another like Ashawo. cheesy grin. But i agree with your Argentina argument though. He should have done better.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 9:31pm On Nov 17, 2020
Careful man. Careful. The bolded is complete bullshit. cheesy. Who says i cannot be the undisputed coach where i am at? Which school of thought is that?
odizeey:
Since we've been arguing GOAT did anyone bring up these names? How many ballon d'Or do they have combined?

Wo. I don't have time. Pele said he's GOAT, people have called Maradona GOAT, CR7 called himself GOAT, Messi carried a goat to do a photoshoot, but you are bringing people who did not claim or were slated as GOAT.

The issue here is, as an undisputed champion you have to go where the fight is. Dare.
You can stay one place if you are not the undisputed champion
.

At the end of the day we'll just sneak Messi in as one of the best attackers cheesy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by benji93: 9:27pm On Nov 17, 2020
The fact that C Ronaldo is a Man Utd legend does not mean you have to shit over the achievements of a contemporary. This is kind of too much.

You blame Aina for being outdone in air duels by a taller player? Wonders shall never end. cheesy. You can't help but defer the blame to the players. Continue. cheesy. Are you still mentioning matches we played over a year ago? Rohr is clueless, just admit it. cheesy grin
smartsmith0907:
On aina I wasn't too happy with him today...firstly these sierra Leone players are tall and very strong they took advantage of aina's height and aina did well offensively but defensively was nothing to write home about.
Partially rohr was at fault coz he should have been more vocal when we were still leading 4-3 and implore the team to defend more but the fact sometimes coaches are given red cards and told to leave the pitch had it been we have such situation won't this players makes same mistakes..this players lack discipline and feelings for the national team there is no bit of patriotism sir I remember during your days there is patriotism in the team.these player plays with their last breath...thats why the likes of yak,KANU,odegbami did expectionally well in the international scenes and lastly sir there is no sprit of leadership in the team.musa and ekong are bad leaders am speaking here not as an insider but as a pundit ekong should be able to call the team to other which he failed today. Way forward is there is need to a leader in the team I mean a vocal leader.am not happy tonight despite everything done to make Nigeria happy the result was very poor. The truth there is no crime in falling down but the main crime is in staying no be this rohr played well against Cameroon, south Africa ,Brazil et al like that.

Oh i been don forget, the people that decide who and who get to work for NFF are highly incompetent and corrupt. cheesy. Have you noticed he never issues orders unless the camera is fixated on him? The last time this man had some success was in 1996 when he too Bordeaux to the Uefa Cup finals. Not only has he been unsuccessful for a long time, but he's also literally not done anything with the African teams he has previously managed. Yet NFF deemed him qualified. NFF literally does not care. Just help our locals get training. I mean how this one go take correct person now. cheesy. Ah Etebo, i say play more centrally, If Etebo no understand him go come toucchline ni? When play still dey go? Yobo na one confirm otu assistant too. cheesy. You no fit go touchline talk sense ni. for the second goal it looked like Ajayi was going to head the ball but he missed it so it. Ajayi was the one at fault for it. It agree with everything else you said about Okoye. Also the rest of the outfield players need to step up as well. In the second half once Balogun left it looked like we had zero leadership in the team.
