Politics › Supreme Court Affirms Senator Athan Achonu As Imo LP Guber Candidate by bentenny(op): 1:30am On Sep 29, 2023
Jubilation broke out at the secretariat of the Labour Party in Abuja when the Supreme Court on Thursday affirmed Senator Athan Achonu as the rightful candidate for the November 11 election in Imo State.

Achonu is aiming to become the first physically challenged governor in the country on the platform of LP in the off-season election taking place in the State.

An aggrieved aspirant at the last LP primary, Basil Maduka, had objected and challenged Achonu’s candidature at both the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal.

But the apex court threw out the case on the ground that it lacked locus standi.

A panel of five justices led by Iyang Okoro also cautioned the Appellant for abusing the court process and wasting the time of the courts all through from the lower courts.

Two other respondents in the matter were the Independent National Electoral Commission and a candidate from the Lamidi Apapa faction, Joseph Ukaegbu, popularly known as Ikenga, whose request to seek a consequential order was also rejected by the Supreme Court.

Briefing newsmen in Abuja, the National Legal Officer of the LP Kehinde Edun hailed the Supreme Court justices, saying they did justice to the case.

He said, “The justices discovered the case lacked locus standi and threw it out. They also cautioned the lawyers of the petitioners for wasting their time.”

Counsel to Labour Party, Okwudili Anozie, also told journalists in Abuja that the judgement in favour of Achonu also legitimizes Abure as the national chairman of LP.

He said, “Today at the Supreme Court, the antics of Basil Maduka and his accomplice Joseph Ukaegbu, alias Ikenga, was put to an end as they met their Waterloo at the Apex Court. Today was a culmination of the deceit and lies to Imolites spanning from their misrepresentation of the true position of the judgments of the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal.

“The Supreme Court didn’t entertain Ukaegbu’s counsel’s ignorant attempt to seek for a consequential order, which even a first-year student of law knows cannot be sought by a Respondent, especially in this case where the appeal was dismissed.”

An excited Achonu also disclosed that he knew that the apex court would vindicate him because he followed the due process to win the LP primary, which also had officials of INEC in attendance.

He said, “I refused to join issues with anybody or discuss anything on my court cases. I didn’t think it was necessary because first, I was not sued. Secondly, I won a free and fair election. Thirdly, INEC published my name and did not announce that I was no longer a candidate. That was the only time I would have been bothered. I have been concentrating on my campaign.”

Really? So have you ever seen any sane country with no foreign investors?

That is why I called you a Marxist motherfucker.
What is the definition of an investor?
Why would any investor put money in an environment that is not conducive for business?
A country with....
Multiplicity of taxes
Poor security system
Terrible educational system
Poor accessible roads to rural areas
Poor health care system
Ineffective and unreliable power supply
Ever spiking inflation rate
High transport cost

Has the president been able to come up with a solution of the problems above before seeking the resources of an investor let alone a foreign one?

How will a president advert Nigeria as a profitable country to invest your money when the current businesses in the country are closing down while investors are moving their monies to countries whose currency has value?

Obakoolex:
Why should I explain when am not the owner of the certificatehuh
Well in my own opinion which am entitled to, I believe it's because of age which obviously most civil servant are guilty of.
The institution never denied that he gained admission and graduated so what else should be my concern as a citizen.

You people make it sound as if it's the certificate that will guarantee a good governance, if that's the case why did Obi submit only his ssce and not first degree??
Now let me analyze your opinions which you are obviously entitled to and you can judge for yourself if you are right or wrong!

Firstly, the main issue is about the genuineness of the certificate!
The age discrepancy too is also a problem and should not be a criteria to cut him some slack simply because we have a terrible and lopsided civil service system!
What is wrong is wrong and if we must get things right in Nigeria, we must not only call out our leaders to do the right thing instead of making them feel its no big deal, they must also face punishments for it to serve as a deterrent to others!

Secondly,Just because Tinubu attended and graduated from the institution does give him the premise to present any certificate which CSU cannot verify or authenticate!
Once a certificate is proven to be forged, perjury is set in motion and disqualification is inevitable!
The Nigerian constitution is explicit about such actions and no matter who you are,the law must be in force!
If a young lady could be punished for showing a fake Jamb result, why should that of the president be different?

Guy a forged certificate from a leader is akin to a multiplicity of corruption!
You still do not understand the grave nature of the crime committed by the president for presenting a forged certificate!
Such offence in civilized and developed countries will not only disqualify a president but also send him to prison!
We must endeavor to stop supporting or siding with corrupt leaders which will impact negatively on our development as a growing nation and ensure that impunity will continue unabated!

Finally,as it relates to LP's candidate Peter Obi....the question should be what is the minimum requirement to be eligible to become president?
He presented a WAEC certificate which in the eyes of the electoral act is permitted despite having a superior certificate in his degree programme!
If you have an issue with his UNN degree certificate,he has told you to go to his institution and confirm!
That is the kind of transparency and openness we are expecting from our leaders...not the one that will be wasting taxpayers monies to stop someone from accessing his academic documents in his foreign institution claiming it will bring distress to him!

Every suspect is innocent until proven guilty by the court.
Don't look at it from a biased perspective.
So can you explain why he is trying to stop someone from having access to his qualification records at an institution he supposedly attended and graduated from?

If you are about to be employed to a company and the handlers are trying to access your qualification record from your various institutions and you plead that its not important, won't that make the company curious to know what you are trying to hide?

ElSudani:
One of our problems in this country is the tendency to lie easily and muddle up the truth. The university already explained that these diplomas are ceremonial documents of which the university doesn't keep the records for any students including Tinubu.
If INEC did not require you to submit your academic records why should Tinubu submit his?
INEC needed to confirm whether or not Tinubu graduated from that university and this has been confirmed, what else do you need from him?
Guy this is very simple but you are trying to complicate issues again by being evasive!
I asked simple questions.... All you have to do is either provide answers or get someone that can give you better answers or say nothing!

First, I asked if the certificate Tinubu presented to INEC was obtained from CSU....if it was,why is CSU denying its authenticity?

Secondly,if Tinubu said he lost all his qualification documents including his degree certificate in the 90s during the military raid, where did he get the one he presented to INEC from?

Furthermore, you are still complicating yourself by not understanding but reacting!
INEC doesn't need anyone's academic records neither does INEC even do due diligence to confirm the authenticity of certificate!

Whether the certificate was obtained ceremonially or not.....the question I keep asking you is was the said certificate submitted to INEC from CSU? Yes or No!
Politics › Re: Chicago State University: Nigerians Will Be Shocked Over Tinubu’s Records– Atiku by bentenny(m): 3:15pm On Sep 23, 2023
ElSudani:
The burden of proof will still be on Atiku to prove that Tinubu printed his own diploma and explain the motive behind it.
The university already confirmed the authenticity of Tinubu's degree, Atiku is not even contesting that.
You still haven't answered the question and trying to be evasive!
Did CSU give Tinubu the certificate that he submitted with INEC?
If Tinubu was not given that certificate by CSU, where did he obtain the said certificate from?
So far his institution is denying the authenticity of the certificate tinubu presented to INEC!
If he had submitted this document you just displayed as proof direct from CSU instead of the controversial certificate,we won't be having this discussion!

ElSudani:
But what is really important to INEC and the Nigerian laws is that Tinubu graduated with honors as he said and as confirmed by the University.
The paper diploma which is handed to you on graduation day is a ceremonial document. The university have said so many times. They do not keep a record of these not just for Tinubu but all the students.
This is prpbably the legal reason the university would not under oath confirm it's authenticity.
This doesn't mean anything was forged. You cannot graduate with honors and then go ahead and go ahead and forge your documents.
I am happy the Atiku lawyers are getting paid, cases like this doesn't come often.
Did the paper diploma handed to Tinubu on 1979 same as the one he submitted to INEC?

If that's not the one or CSU is denying the authenticity of the said certificate, where did Tinubu obtain the one he submitted from?

If your university is denying the existence of the certificate you are parading despite graduating from the said university, what does that imply?

Lastly,if a certificate was forged what punishment does the nigerian constitution dish out to the offender?
Politics › Re: Chicago State University: Nigerians Will Be Shocked Over Tinubu’s Records– Atiku by bentenny(m): 1:36pm On Sep 23, 2023
ElSudani:
The university already said under oath that Tinubu graduated with honors. Why then would he forge a certificate?
Does that make sense?
You are the one that doesn't even understand what the issue is!

The matter is not really about whether Tinubu attended or graduated from CSU,its about the certificate that was submitted before INEC which the CSU lawyer admitted that he could not verify if the certificate was genuine putting real doubt on its authenticity!

This was why the judge granted atiku's lawyers the permission to be given the entire documents of Tinubu including the certificate which he issued to INEC!
That's also why Tinubu is battling to impede the disclosure of his CSU documents because it has several implications on him which will impact on his presidency!

The matter is that of perjury!
Did the certificate Tinubu submit to INEC come from CSU?

If it didn't come out, then according to the nigerian constitutional punishment for perjury,Tinubu becomes disqualified as president!

My question is why is Tinubu hellbent on stopping people from accessing the history of his CSU documents?
Politics › Re: Chicago State University: Nigerians Will Be Shocked Over Tinubu’s Records– Atiku by bentenny(m): 1:15pm On Sep 23, 2023

Obakoolex:
I love what Atiku is doing....

Trying to find a way by all means grin
He knows Tinubu beats him in the ballot but by strategy trying maybe he can outsmart Tinubu.

Sorry to disappoint you waziri....God or one powerful force is behind Tinubu and that makes him unstoppable by you.
Patience is the greatest virtue you lost after running to APC and helped to crumble PDP!

BTW, obidients are the joke in all this, because even if supreme declare Atiku as the winner, that means obi automatically helped installed another Fulani for 8 years and when it's southern turn again, all South will work against any S.E candidate.

The truth of the matter remains that Tinubu will rule Nigeria till 2031. wink
The matter is that of morality and constitution of our country with the intent of not enabling impunity!
Its quite obvious from Tinubu's appeal that he doesn't intend the country to know that his certificate presented before INEC was forged which will definitely lead to an outright disqualification!

If Tinubu forged certificate wahala is permitted and allowed to stand,it will set a terrible precedence for future leaders who will present forged documents and when accosted will sight that of tinubu!

Recently,a young lady who was found guilty and punished by jamb for presenting a forged certificate was totally condemned by everyone which forced her to offer an apology!
Why should that of the president be different?

If we really want this country to change for the better, the right things must be done!

Its so interesting and hilarious that a president who claimed and promised to fight corruption to its knees is now doing everything possible to cover up his own corrupt past!

Much as I disapprove of some statements Adekunle made most especially when he said he would invite Venita to his child naming ceremony, I mean, to a supposed “girlfriend”..? No level of provocation ought to have warranted that but Venita’s motive for that date wasn’t altruistic, it wasn’t out of love or care but an alibi to extract commitment that she will later capitalize on for emotional blackmail and to lunch unending vitriols. I knew their relationship abinitio was a game but was hoping along the way emotions will creep in, unfortunately, it never happened. So, before it gets messier a mutual agreement for a break up should be reached.
You are absolutely right!
