BlackManta: The thread has lost its sanity.
The way they spent time here arguing over superheroes....it almost makes it look like other movie genres like horror, action, comedy, drama don't exist anymore.
Can't these people talk about something else other than DC and Marvel stuff...
I'm looking for good romantic comedy movies... Someone should recommend something for me abeg. Check out The Big Sick if you haven't seen it. |

JeromeBlack: Seriously, any sensible person would wait for the gauntlet to be removed before killing Thanos.
I mean, if a robber shot your friend and other people are in the process of disarming the robber, wouldnt the normal thing to do be to wait for the robber to be disarmed? Would you disturb the people disarming the robber so that the robber can shoot you? It's just common sense. The producers wanted a sequel that's why the Avengers were made to make stupid decisions just to make sure Thanos lasted till the next sequel. |

oyaskii: Still can't get over how rubbish BvS was...even with the extended Version...alter poo, if zack synder had completed justice league, it would have towed the same line. I watched BvS at the cinemas, I remember coming back feeling massively disappointed. BvS, though DC recovered their money back, was a hot pile of crap. The most annoying thing about BvS was the director made it to be long knowing fully well that the movie was a little above average. |

DC Tards logic
"black panther is an overrated average movie that displayed ugly black culture"
"batman vs superman is a masterpiece,a film too deep for shallow minds.it has a cult following" There's no sane human that knows his onions when it comes to movies, that'd call BvS a masterpiece. You're just trolling. BvS was generally accepted to be a disappointment. |

mekaprime: Bumblebee..8/10 Genre:Action, Adventure, SciFi
The best thing that happened to this franchise was getting rid of Michael Bay. The movie was very heart warming on a grand scale, it reminds me of the Sam/Bumblebee relationship in the first transformers movie. This has to be the second best transformers movie after the very first one. The storyline was decent, the fight scenes were awesome & the acting was near perfection, even John Cena who I earlier expressed my fear, that he was gonna ruin the movie, actually did very good.
The only flaw of the movie was the CGI. The CGI wasn't that good, the Autobots especially Optimus Prime looked like a power rangers megazord & Bumblebee, he sure looked like a kid bot in that movie(are they trying to tell us that the Autobots experience growth). This in my honest opinion is what Travis Knight ought to learn from Michael Bay, as his CGI are always top notch. Michael Bay was not gotten rid of, he just wasn't the director this time around. You can research about it. |

The tone really matters. Nkem Owoh was my stand-out performer in the movie. He made me laugh all through the movie from his grand entrance till he left. The man is a natural mehn!! I've re-watched the scene he exchanged greetings with Pete over 10 times. So much swag in the greetings. |

For those that rated Lionheart 3/10, it's perfectly understandable as none of you understood majority of what was spoken in the movie which was Igbo. That for me was the major downside of the movie even as an Igbo boy that understood everything in the movie. Genevive goofed big time when she ignored subtitling the Igbo-spoken parts of the movie especially when Netflix bought the rights, which meant millions of people from different creeds and walks of life would be seeing it. It's a major turn off that'd reduce the success of the movie.
Even if it's subtitled, it'd take an Igbo person that understood the nuances of the spoken Igbo languages to really appreciate the movie and words. For example when Osofia told Phyno; "ifuro k'iru gi di ka mmiri omugwo" which loosely translates to "See how your face looks like the water used to bathe a new born baby during a mother-in-law's visit," someone that doesn't understand Igbo would've gotten the joke and probably laughed, but a full fledged Igbo person that understand the nuance behind the 'njakiri' (diss) would've ROTF when he heard it. The movie is nice.
Using Naija standard, I'd give it a 7/10.
My best Naija movie of 2018 still remains King of Boys. Planned on seeing Aquaman on the first of this year but we arrived late and King of Boys was the one showing and we settled for it. At the end of the movie, I was not left with any regret, plus my date enjoyed it as well. Win-win for me. |

BlackManta: Saying 'BEST' Transformers film makes it look like there have been good Transformers films but Bumblebee was the best.
Actually Transformers films are all rubbish and over hyped CGI fest except Bumblebee.
I don't like calling Bumblebee a Transformers film due to how useless that franchise is.
Bumblebee was amazing. The only good apple in a pile of rotten ones. I beg to differ. Transformers 1 & 2 were quiet dope_. |

ibkayee: Lol fair enough. I actually genuinely liked the movie sha, but I think the hype came from it being a defining moment for black people (Black Americans in particular) in cinema, which I understood True that. I remember few weeks leading to the release of the movie, black American celebrities were campaigning seriously for the movie. Chris Brown was on Instagram telling blacks not to buy the pirated/bootleg version of the movie. That blacks should come out in droves and support the movie. So, it's more about its cultural significance. The movie was okay. |

DannyKoice: I say this as a Marvel fan, Black Panther is an overrated crap. The high rating of Black Panther was hilarious. It was never for the movie itself but by paid critics and blacks hyping a black superhero movie. the plot of BP was just there. Nothing in the movie can justify its 90% rating on some sites. |

JeromeBlack: We are saying the same thing.
Where we differ is the issue of displaying wealth. I believe that it was not displayed enough.
I wanted to see fleets of supercars and classic cars. I did not get to see that.
I wanted to see mansions that are monitored and run by extensive operating systems.
I wanted to see exclusive nightclubs with madd attractions.
The wedding was underwhelming to say the least. People get married on mountainsides, islands yatcs and elaborate stage sets. This wedding just had some water tricks that didnt even make sense.
Oh, and rich young guys tend to wear T-shirts and hoodies when they are not in serious occassions. The water trick didn't make sense to me as well. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 6:46am On Dec 18, 2018 |
JeromeBlack: The greatest asset anyone has is land/house.
Did you see any outstanding mansion in that movie
Do you know that a lot of Asian billionaires speak with Asian accents and not British/American ones? Crazy rich Asians makes that mistake.
Even in Nigeria, the billionaires and their children, how many speak with foreign accents? They speak good English but not foreign accents. David who live in USA comes to mind. Even Cuppy has a Nigerian accent.
It's hard for me to be impressed by Crazy Rich Asians when I know the good life. Now this your criticism of the film comes from the mistakes of the producers/directors, using the casts for the wrong role. Rachel's role was not the wrong choice, though, because she's born and raised in the US. If you could still recall my earlier appraisal of the movie, I stated it clearly that I wasn't impressed by the movie's storyline or acting, that's because the if I'm to critique the film properly, I'd give it a 6/10. The storyline was cliche, and I wasn't wowed at any point by it; rather the wealth was the only thing I really enjoyed seeing in the movie and maybe Akwafina's performance. So, I agree with you on other aspects of the movie, but I still insist the directors did no wrong on showcasing the wealth to portray how rich those Asians were. |
