PhonesRe: MTN Introduces Cheaper Data Bundles by besttrader: 11:43pm On May 06, 2016
Hi ewizard1,

Although I'm not an abassador for glo but I use the N500 glo data plan that offers 3GB (night plan for 1 week 00:00 - 05:00 am plus around the clock on Sat & Sun) for heavy downloads. I also use the N1000 -> 1.5GB plan on another SIM, since you can't run 2 plans on one SIM for my daytime surfing needs.

Dial *777# and you'll get a list of options, you'll see the plans I listed here and lots more.

N.B. One thing I noticed about Glo is this, the network can be extremely fast is some locations and slow in others. I guess I've been lucky, Glo is fast at home for me and also in my office vicinity (when my office internet is down).

So go ahead and make your choice. If you ask me, every Nigerian should have nothing to do with MTN. They're fucking SICK and stole us blind.

Cheers pal!
PhonesRe: MTN Introduces Cheaper Data Bundles by besttrader: 10:29pm On May 06, 2016
I think MTN has not done much.... Globacom Nigeria offers 1.5GB for N1000 and the good thing about theirs is that within your 1 month validity period as far as you don't let the data go out completely i.e. if you have like 20MB left, you can top up with N500 and you get 1GB. Nobody has been able to beat Glo on that yet... So, I don't see the fuss about the rubbish MTN is doing, after selling SIM cards to Nigeria for N70,000 and telling us that per second billing wasn't possible in Nigeria - (useless fraudulent company).

The right thing for any governor to have done is to build these facilities in an already existing State University i.e. AAU. Questions should be asked why he didn't invest those infrastructures in an already established institution that is yearning for improved learning conditions. I guess some folks have the right to speculate that he's planning on repossessing the University once he leaves office.

PoliticsRe: OBJ @ 79: Generations Will Remain Grateful To Obasanjo – Buhari by besttrader: 12:05am On Mar 05, 2016
Are you actually kidding me? Between 1999 - 2007 OBJ squandered $16 billion in his giagantic power projects that supposedly entered the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest power project any country could ever embark upon.

http://thestreetjournal.org/2012/05/revisiting-the-power-sector-probe-how-obasanjos-men-paid-16-billion-for-darkness/

http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2010/06/03/16b-power-scam-abbs-allies-call-for-objs-arrest/

How many Mega watts of electricity did he add to our national grid?

Well just for you to feel sorry for your supposed support for a massively corrupt individual like Obasanjo, Ethiopia's Grand Renaissance Dam costs the govt. of Ethiopia $4.8 billion and it has an Installed capacity of 6,000 MW, well it's being constructed at a record time of 6 years and it is the biggest hydroelectric project in Africa currently.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Ethiopian_Renaissance_Dam

Can you see what that amount would have done to our power sector? We would have moved to other things not the recurrent electricity campaign slogan we keep hearing on every campaign trail in Nigeria.

You think because these corrupt fools move around freely, it makes them inculpable of the fact that they have mismanaged this country to an extent of comatose.

Does it mean, someone can just set a date and come to this club to settle scores? Who knows how far things could have gone? Maybe someone gets hurt, who's to blame? What about the safety of teeming customers who were there during the fracas.

No wonder some folks call this place a Z.....!!!

BusinessRe: The Impending Banking Crisis by besttrader: 2:37am On Feb 24, 2016
Very true Kayfra, but the overall move if not checked might be bad for their economy. Sometime last year authorities in China did also put some clauses in foreign remittances on 3 banks or so (ours was restriction on all banks).

Overall, my worries are that we're ill prepared for this. Looking at those in power, it makes the situation more intense. I'm not too sure what our fiscal policies are. My point is comparing our reserve at the current levels, while looking at what the Chinese and Russians have spent on defending their currencies, our reserves stands no chance at all!

All in all, we'll be closely monitoring things as they unfold - I hope for the best and after the storm calms, we believe we should have learnt a lesson or two.

kayfra:
From what I read, the capital flight in China is related to companies hurrying up to pay liabilities since USA is jacking up interest rates which will make their dollar debts more expensive. So it may not be a bad thing on the long run.
BusinessRe: The Impending Banking Crisis by besttrader: 1:11am On Feb 24, 2016
I'll love to drop some comments using the Chinese Yuan as an analogy to what's happening right now in Nigeria, maybe we can pick some lessons.

For over a decade China has piled up its foreign reserves from inbound investment and the country’s massive export volumes (Nigeria's export volume is mainly crude, while theirs is very diversified and complex).

In 2015 alone the apex bank in China saw its forex reserves fall by $512.66 billion, only in December 2015 it dropped by $107.9 billion (what did we say is Nigeria's reserve that we're using to hedge the naira at the moment?)

China at the moment is tagged an "Exporter of Capital" meaning capital outflows is just uncontrollable.

Just as we're trying to deal with capital outflows, China is also doing same by tightening capital controls in a bid to slow the departure of funds from its shores, but the market there is constantly finding new ways to aid investors invest offshore.

If I'm not faulting on the figures, the Russians too blew around $90 billion to try and protect the Ruble from falling - some part of this year alone.

The problem here is that:

1. During the decades of surplus, we had some of the worst managers who didn't invest in anything.

2. At the moment, there's just nothing you can lay hands on that has supporting infrastructure, so revamping any sector will entail linking up all the supporting netowrks - you want to revamp agriculture, you need good roads that will connect sellers and buyers, electricity that will aid in the processing of agro-products, etc.

Back to my Chinese analogy, the point I'm trying to draw is that our lean reserve does not stand the chance of supporting the Naira - refer to Russia and China and compare what they have sacrificed to get their currencies at the current levels.

We blew our reserves to run elections, support currupt military juntas, aid corrupt governors, LGAs, etc. Now it's payback time! There's no light at the end of the tunnel - Only God can save us!

NB. CBN Blew $33billion Defending The Naira in 2014. Currently, our foreign reserves is at lows of US$28.7 billion. I really don't know where $28.7billion would take us defending the Naira. We have to decide on defending the Naira until we have no reserves left, or allowing market forces while we sincerely develop our economy.

EducationRe: Burial Of Charity Dazan YABATECH Student That Died - Touching Photos by besttrader:
The way to solve the nonsense going on in our medical centers could be as follows:

1. Enact laws in State and National Assembles that will say "if someone comes in with life threatening ailments i.e. gunshot wounds, knife cuts, et al.... Save life first, medical institution should immediately call in the Police to be at the patients bed, so once the patient is up" they can start questioning. This way we can save every life, since we can't really tell who a criminal is and who an innocent patient is - so threat everyone and let the Police do their job of investigating while the patient is still on medical care/police watch at the hospital.

2. All medical centers should have CCTV cams at vital points, that will be remotely connected to an independent central command center to be managed by State/federal ICT bodies (these bodies have nothing to do with the medical centers, their job is just watch live feeds and record sessions). What this does is that our doctors and nurses would know that they're being watched and can be punished in cases of negligence based on video evidence.

This would help greatly.

I'm lost of words for the girl, feel so much pain and please pardon me if I made any typo above.

We'll continue to see cases like this, until these doctors/nurses know they're being watched.

God comfort everyone that has a human heart and wants to see Nigeria move beyond this state of lawlessness, incompetence and savagery.

Look at the turf on the Stadium as it turns grey, it's not properly maintained...... All we know how to do is to turn our stadiums as grounds for events like this, instead of what they're meant for (track and field events)... This stadium was cool when it was launched, just look at it now. Is the turf still as green as it used to be?

Many of the folks there would rather watch epl matches played on standard green turfs on TV (they are very pleasant to the eyes). Why can't we just allow our stadiums be, take all these rubbish events to hotels or some other place.... Shame on us!

CrimeRe: Bank Robbery Ongoing At Ikorodu by besttrader: 3:09pm On Jun 24, 2015
My brother I'm sick of the way things are done in Nigeria. Now if the Police gets to the crime scene, cordons the place, if the get blood samples for instance of the perpetrators. Then the next thing can be done. You run the sample for DNA matches, now where is the data base for such? We are supposed to get blood samples of all folks who have once been involved in crime, et al. Store such data for query i.e. Access Only Data.

Now, then we can now question our ID system in the country (Drivers Licence, National ID, Voters Card, etc), if the criminals left behind something like an ID or even someone got a pics of them, or a CCTV image of the criminals. These you can run into your data base for results. Well, I forgot some stupid Nigerian Politicians would never allow such a scheme, it is either they loot the funds or out-rightly jeopardize the structure if it gets planned.

The basics that makes a society safe to live in is in non-existence in Nigeria. We just have a random state where anything goes.... Where Policemen are more of Voo-doo practitioners, instead of intelligent officers.

CrimeRe: Bank Robbery Ongoing At Ikorodu by besttrader: 2:02pm On Jun 24, 2015
The stupid Nigerian Police, they can't even cordon a crime scene. The scene of the crime could offer some clues about the perpetrators. Don't these cops in Nigeria get any form of training? Being a Police is not just about brandishing an AK47. That scene should be condoned off, then the NPF forensic team should swoop in and start picking clues. The Police tape should only be removed after the team is done sweeping the place... What is wrong with my country?

Not the huge contigent we are used to seeing with the PDP led govt. the onus is on them to make things right. My support for Buhari is for utmost change, equity, development, etc. Any thing short of this, we say "the party is over."

If you're happy with seeing Africans die while trying to cross the Mediterranean (in view of economic crisis in their home countries, et al), then go for folks like Mugabe. Across African, we need vibrant intelligent leaders that can turn around the lot of the continent. Mugabe has done enough and we need to rid ourselves off people like this, anything other than this is the continuation of the suffering of the black people across the divide on the African continent.

I don't know what some folks want from a man like Buhari, Yes! at his age so many folks won't be active at all. It is okay for him to look frail and weak at this point in his life. I've never prayed for any Nigerian President, but I found myself praying for Buhari that God should sustain and keep him healthy all the way. Nigeria needs him more than he does need Nigeria. This country is in dire need for a fix, I pray Buhari can surmount the challenges ahead and God grants him the wisdom to govern with the right people around him.

I'm tired to having an extremely corrupt State where everything goes. Virtually every sphere of this country is in comatose, we need a reawakening and a leader that is poised to make necessary adjustments for the overall good of the people. Nigeria can be great again, but a leader must lead, then only can others follow. God bless the incoming POTFRN in the person of GMB, bless Nigeria and every body else. So long folks, we're here at last!

Yep, this is Ikom located around 290km away from Calabar the capital city of Cross River State. The truth is the fact that the town enjoyed the townization policy of Donald Duke and was very clean after the then governor Duke constructed most of the roads in Ikom (State House estate roads, Ikom Town roads, Sweet Mother Street, Mile 2 Road, Market Road, etc). Duke did a lot to improve of the living standards of the people of Cross River state, Governor Liyel Imoke had no policy drive and all the gains made were lost or are close to being lost.
