"Comfortable life abroad" is a very general phrase coz India ,Nicaragua and Philippines is abroad yet poor.

But yes the buying power in the west is higher and comforts are available but you really have to work very hard for them.Its up to you to make it a reality or a myth.

Nice pictures but Jamaica can be very violent too with high crime and lots of inequality. Most Jamaicans can't even afford those homes.

What I meant is that.. Hustling on Blue collar job, menial job... you can never become a millionaire... You will only work, make some money... Pay bills and continue to follow the system.... Sometimes you may need to even apply for credit card...

But don't give potential immigrants the wrong expectations it can be very depressing when they finally get here.
Truth is millionaires are few (even amongst the native born )and in fact worldwide its only the top 5% to 10% of the whole population become millionaires.The vast majority of Americans ,Brits ,Germans ,Australians ,Japanese have never had $1m in their accounts or even in terms of net wealth of assets such as cars,houses and liquid money.

Con 1: Loneliness
If you are going as a student, this wouldn't be an issue for you as you will always meet your fellow Nigerians and other Africans on campus. There will always be afrocentric societies or events to join especially in countries like USA, UK, Canada etc... Another major solution is to find a Nigerian, Ghanaian, any black or multi-cultural church near you.. make sure to explore options before settling to become a member of a church.. RCCG is often a great place to start but make sure you are compatible with the crowd there.. this helps a lot.


Con 2: Strict laws
The laws are strict but that's the price to pay for a sane society that works. Don't bring Nigerian lawlessness here and expect to get away with it.. pay your taxes, do things through the right channel, obey the rules but never lose your humanity.

Con #2 is so very unfortunate .We Africans have been raised really badly to think street vending ,trashing everywhere ,having area boys ,bribe authorities and being late /loose with rules is the accepted norm.
The we come here and start feeling squeezed and uncomfortable with the many rules (which is a virtue) because we've been wrongly conditioned our whole lives to normalize/accept disorder .We see positives as a con.

Good question. If you are here my brother na so so work and work... You have very little time for recreation. Back home in Africa you see the way we interact with our neighbors freely there is nothing like that here or very low.. most times you get back from work you are in your room, it can be very boring.. no "life" these are just two examples. Even my very close friend who is of Ethiopian heritage makes way more and he employs several oyibo people who work for him .He drives a $300K Bentley and owns several properties.
