@ yemstar: Just because few blackmen you've come across happen to be greedy doesn't make every black man greedy and narrow-minded, as you've mentioned. Trust me, you can still make your point pure and clear with-out degrading Black men; And if you want, I can introduce you to many many white men that are just as greedy as the folks you're referring to. Think before you post a comment, not post a comment and then think. |
Please, do not bring IBB into this discussion. But I admire your point regarding the west allowing this one to slide. |
To understand Saddam's ways you must understand their culture. A good percentage of people in Iraq didn't really think Saddam was a bad dictator till America brainwashed them. This is a military regime, I mean a military regime in Muslim country; what do you expect? As a leader in these areas, you must never show a sign of weakness. It is also very common to kill your enemies before they kill you. It is important to notice that things weren't sweet and dandy in Iraq during Saddam era, but things were very calm. It is also important to understand that democracy is not for every country or every culture. Some culture aren't just compatible with democracy. As we all know, Culture is a very powerful element; hence we need to learn how to respect people's culture before criticizing them. Trust me, things are currently very bad in Iraq today because of 2 things: 1. Americans did not excessively study the history and culture of Iraq before the invasion. 2. The people of Iraq do not respect democracy; believe me, they respect and admire Iron handling. And Americans on the other hand are totally against iron handling. As a result of this, we have a rat race war in process in Iraq May be someone like Saddam is the answer to bring peace to Iraq. Keep in mind that this comment is just a mere suggestion, not fact. May God bring peace to the world. |
Yes, Saddam Hussein was horrible and deserved to be punished one way or the order; but was the process expedited? How come Yugoslav President, Slobodan Milosevic war crime case or process wasn't rushed? FYI: Saddam Hussein war crime case was closed less than a year. Slobodan Milosevic war crime was on for more than 5 years before he finally died of heart attack. |
I feel that the current issue in Iraq is a signature of American failure, and they (Americans) know this too. Therefore they are determined to justify Iraq war and make things right as soon as possible; hence killing Saddam is the first step of the road to victory. Moreover, America is also using the killing of Saddam to send messages to other stubborn leaders (leaders who refuse to kiss their ass), e.g The president of North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela and so on. Eventhough, they claim that the people of Iraq carried out the operation from A to Z; I do not buy it, even if it's on sale. I hope America will not pay heavy price for this move. Peace to the world. |
Is this justice or just another American propaganda? What do you think? |
Even United States who disrespected the UN constitution during the beginning of IRAQ WAR is now regretting it; the same United States is now hesitant to quote the rules and regulations "they did not follow" to IRAN. For the sake of tomorrow, the constitution of a nation must not be disrespected under any circumstances. OBJ as the president of Nigeria is totally wrong in this case and many other cases. One of the most important role of a president is to obey the constitution of the nation. If OBJ wants ATIKU out that bad, there are many other civilized methods to make this happen; but of course Mr president is so unprofessional, vindictive and has no moral to be creative. At this point, I think it is very important for one to remind Mr president that this is Nigeria not OTA farm; things are done orderly. |
@ goodieuzo I'm happy for you and your friends. GLO represents Nigeria and they've done many incredible things. In my book, GLO signifies excellence. |
@ twinstaiye OBJ's unconstitutional means of declaring the VP's position vacant is a serious crime. |
We preach and pray for our lovely country to move forward and yet we continue to disrespect folks that are willing to invest heavily in developing and moving the country to the next level. Sometimes Nigerians make me sick. |
My brother: I'm not trying to condone uncivilized behavior, but it is the product of poverty and poverty is the result of our incredible leaders. My friends, it is very tough out there; folks are tired and hungry. They are determined to survive at all cost; this is what you get when the leaders of a nation have stopped serving the people. This country is rich and full of intelligent people. Nigeria citizens do not deserve this mess, we definitely deserve better Hence, I do not blame the people, I blame the corrupt system, unfocused leaders and examples of the leaders. |
Mark it down. By August next year, OBJ will be asked to present his declaration forms from 1999 and 2003. What goes around comes around. |
It is a very sad news. May God be with the families affected by this terrible disaster. Definitely it's time for a change; this administration is no longer focused on regular day to day Nigerians needs. Mr President's main priority at the moment is to continue the chicken fight with the vice president. Things in general, in Nigeria need to be restructured as soon as possible; there is absolutely no reason for this type of incident to happen again. FYI:Gas scarcity, poverty, corruption and uncivilization were responsible for this horrible accident or what ever you may call it. Enough is enough, we need dedicated people with new strategies to move this country forward. It is sad and unbearable to know that xmas and new year season isn't that wonderful to some folks. May God bless Nigeria. |
Should We Ask Mr. President For His Assets Declaration Forms For 1999 And 2003? We've heard and seen OBJ's administration advocating anti corruption crusade. May be now is the time to ask BABA himself to present us with his assets declaration forms for 1999 and 2003. It will only be fair and decent to be known openly that OBJ does what he preaches. I truly feel that this request will shed some light on the current Nigerian "fight against corruption episode" |
First, is Adenuga running for the office? NO Second, has he ever ran for the office? NO Third, has he ever held any government or official position before? No Fourth, has any court of law declared Adenuga guilty of anything? No Enough is enough, it's time for us to get a life, move on and leave innocent folks alone. If EFCC is not saying anything, trust me, it means they mess-up as usual. I'm pretty sure that Adenuga is not hidding, he's just protecting himself from OBJ's propaganda just like any other sensible individual. As we all know Nigerian constitution can not protect the innocent folks anymore. Furthermore If OBJ could treat his vice president like trash, trust me, no one is untouchable. It is also known by the intelligent ones that "You can never win a fight against the government"; OBJ is the government in this case. Therefore a smart man will stay away from this egomaniac vindictive individual. FYI: Despite the atrocious behavior of Mr president and the zombies (EFCC), GLO continues to do big things in Nigeria for ordinary Nigerians as usual. I believe they've just won the sponsorship of the Green Eagles for another 5years. They've also introduced the first Blackberry phone in the country and the implementation of the 2006 GLO/CAF AWARDS is currently being developed by GLO. Hence leave Adenuga alone and allow the politicians to work things out among themselves. |

DEEP SOUL, sweet heart: You need to go back, read your post one more time and understand it. It seems to me that you're contradicting or deviating from your original statement. This is one of the reasons why it is very important to think first and then place a post; "not place a post first and then think" |
Unbelievable. OBJ is turning Nigerian government's day to day activities into OTA farm operation. It is a shame that Mr president doesn't understand a simple rule "obey the constitution of Nigeria" He's turning the constitution of our country into a personal property that could be adjusted and modified as he wishes. This is a terrible example from the president; he doesn't care about our lovely country or the people of Nigeria. It's less than 145 days left, Mr president needs to sit in his corner and stop destroying our country with his impulsive vindictive and unprofessional behavior. It is time for the sycophant, for once in their lives to rise up and stop this coward dirty bully. Enough is enough, Nigeria belongs to the Nigerians, not OBJ. |
From a Nigerian newspaper Obasanjo on sack of his deputy may lead Nigeria into a lot of chaos. The Constitution is clear.” "Nobody can sack the Vice-President. I wonder if they distinguish between party and the President. The party has no role in this matter, and it is impossible for the President to sack a deputy. |
Shame on you, if you support OBJ's unlawful action. Be smart and understand that this is OBJ's personal project; this is not for the sake of Nigeria or Nigerians. If 3rd term process was successfully implemented, none of this rubbish would be taking place. It is clear that OBJ is not in a position to point out the sinner, as we all know he's worst. |
@4play: This news is not confirmed. I truly do not see any reason why ATIKU should be running. |
@ DEEP Soul: This is Nigeria and we are Nigerians; for God sake, why are you comparing Nigeria to Zimbabwe? Why not compare Nigeria to United States or Switzerland? Do you remember the old adage that says " never compare yourself to Failure"? I'm very disappointed that your Name, Deep Soul doesn't match your state of mind. FYI: what goes on between the Nigerian number 1 man and number 2 man does effect every one of us in every way. Think about it. May God bless Nigeria. |
@segoye2: Thanks for the info, I owe you one. I've infomed folks to simmer down and learn from the master. IBB remains incompressible and focused as ever. FYI, folks:When you're greedy, vindictive and expect everyone to treat you like God, you will never accomplish anything, but create enemies and dishonest sycophant group of people all around you. Believe me, when the time is right, we will all jubilate together as one. May God bless Nigeria. |
First of all, I will like to clear the air by making it clear to everybody that I'm not Atiku's fan, hence my response to this topic is not personal but sincere, as I crave for my lovely country, Nigeria to progress efficiently, effectively and unitedly. But my brothers and sisters, how do you explain this unprofessional, childish, horrible and substandard move of Mr president? This action, to me, is a sign of despicable slide into dictatorship and tyranny. We should all condemn this atrocious behavior; this is purely not a way to run things effectively in Nigeria. I can't wait for all the rubbish to disappear and witness the return of the real civilization/ democracy in Nigeria. May God bless Nigeria. |
Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, left for the United States on Thursday aboard a British Airways flight following the withdrawal of his official jet by President Olusegun Obasanjo. Atiku was scheduled to begin a two-week holiday on Wednesday but had to shift the date to enable him book a reservation on a commercial flight in anticipation of reprisal from his boss. A statement issued by The Atiku Campaign Organisation (ACO) on Thursday said Obasanjo had earlier approved the trip and the use of the official plane. It added, "no explanation was given for the withdrawal and (Atiku) only knew of the withdrawal of the jet on arrival at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja at midnight of Wednesday. "No official communication was made to him about the presidential order, except for the verbal information passed by the airport commandant to the effect that the President had, on landing from a trip, personally ordered him to ground (Atiku’s) aircraft." The aeroplane, a Gulf Stream 11, was bought in 2002 after the National Assembly appropriated funds for it specifically for the use of the Vice President. "The President has now commandeered it in a fashion suggestive that it is a personal property. It will also be recalled that a brand new aircraft and a helicopter have also been bought for the President, but for over a year now, he has taken personal control of the Vice Presidential jet’s movement, approving trips and explicitly ordering that the plane must return to Abuja after dropping Atiku; be it in Yola, Lagos or any foreign country," the statement said. "The order is that the plane only returns to bring back (Atiku) wherever he is, but it never waits for him as was the practice when its movement was monitored by the office of Chief of Staff for administrative purposes." The ACO condemned the "crude and disgraceful" power show by Obasanjo whose latest action has further exposed him as a "mean-spirited, small-minded man" who has "debased democracy" by his illegal conduct and autocratic style. "We condemn this nauseating over-personalisation of power and a despicable slide into dictatorship and tyranny. "The ACO urged the National Assembly and democrats to condemn the harassment of Atiku, now the Presidential candidate of Action Congress (AC), which has also slammed Obasanjo for denying him the use of the jet. The AC said the development reflects the crude tactics used by the President and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to further denigrate the office of the Vice President. In a statement issued in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the AC said the development also confirms fears expressed by Atiku after picking the Presidential ticket of the AC in Lagos on Wednesday. He had said he was sure the government would step up his persecution after dumping the PDP. The party argued that Obasanjo’s action smacks of intolerance, lack of respect for the rule of law and is a dangerous indication of what to expect from an "increasingly-jittery and desperate President", who is bent on stifling all opposing views and imposing his cronies on the people in 2007. "(Atiku’s) request to use the Presidential plane is a mere formality, not an indication of the power of the President over its use or otherwise. "We are worried that this action may be the beginning of the withdrawal of the privileges attached to (Atiku), but we reject this lawless act and any act of intimidation against a sitting Vice President. "All our members across the country will resist, with the last drop of our blood, any humiliation of our Presidential candidate by anyone, no matter how highly placed. "Democracy is about the contest of ideas, not about a cabal of power maniacs riding roughshod over all opposition." It was learnt that the chartered Associated Airline craft that Atiku used from Lagos to Abuja after the AC convention was denied landing at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja on Wednesday night. Presidential spokesperson, Remi Oyo, would not comment on the development. She referred our correspondent to the Aviation minister, even though the presidential fleet is not under the Aviation Ministry. |
@ Segoye2: Please, do not waste any more time on this kid. let's refocus on important things. I'm pretty sure that after couple of unanswered post from him, he will move on and find an alternate method to get attention else where. Back to the topic: Is there any latest info on IBB regarding his support for Yaradua? |
Guess what, Mr LEWA? You won the battle, you're the man. |
@Duke Supporters: Don't be disappointed or get discouraged. For over 2 months now, I've tried my best to educate you folks and no one seemed to understand my point. Mr Duke has done the right thing. He's a fine man and very smart. He knew the position wasn't for him. Infact he did not want the position at this time. He has accomplished his goal for now. This goal was to make noise and get his name out there for Nigerian people. Now that he's known by many, come 2011, he will be bold and more matured to contest with the big boys. Hence, don't be discouraged; your man will be back strong and more experienced. His time is around the corner. May God bless Nigeria. |
@ alabiyemmy FYI: It was an agreement established few years ago between both parties (OBJ and Atiku), that Atiku was going to be contesting for the position at the end of their term. As usual, all of a sudden behind Atiku's back OBJ started preaching 3rd term implementation. For the respect of democracy and professionalism, Mr Atiku should have been the first party to be informed about the implementation of the 3rd term. Believe me, things should have been done differently and everyone knew it too, but folks were too scared to demur OBJ's decision. |
Bravo to democracy in Nigeria. It doesn't matter what anyone says or thinks; the cat has the right to contest. It is now up to the great citizen of Nigeria to elect the right party for the position. By the way FYI: it is very difficult to notice Atiku's accomplishment for the country, it is also difficult to be able to determine what he can do for Nigeria as the next president because OBJ is determined to sabotage his ambition (all because of 3rd term issue). None of you guys wants to experience what Atiku went through working for a vindictive, greedy, stubborn, corrupt, unprofessional and childish boss. It was very difficult for Atiku, but with all that atrocities he was calm, respectful and most of the time very professional dealing with the saga. One has to give him credit for being able to maintain; believe me, it wasn't easy. FYI:Even though things weren't sweet and dandy between Atiku and his boss, but he was very present at Muyiwa's (OBJ's son) wedding and showed dedication and support for his boss's family during the ceremony. That, to me, shows class and high standard. Good luck to Atiku and I'm very happy for him, but IBB remains my man for the position. |
@ sbucareer: Excellent post. I admire your vision and state of mind. |
@JAKUMO: Thanks for the clarification. I am more than 100% sure that such thing did not happen, this story is baseless. The occasion was classy, incredible and bravo to MIKE. I do not know any other way one could say good bye to a wonderful mother. |
