ODEKU: you must have another website for EFCC, because all your stories are untrue.

Please, stop it already. It is not funny anymore and not fair to continue to speculate on things you truly don't know.

This is people's integrity we are talking about. We must respect one another and treat people's integrity the way you want yours to be treated.

I'm going to have to stop responding to your comments if you don't get your facts right. You're starting to be a nuisance that specializes in provoking people.

May God bless Nigeria.

This is a discussion forum, people will definitely have different views. Just because I look at things or see things from a different angle doesn't mean I'm related to any of these folks.
We need to understand the true meaning of justice; personally, I see justice as being treated adequately and fairly without being biased under any circumstances. But currently, I can not see this taking place in Nigeria. This is one of my reasons why I try to be fair, patient and be open minded when it comes to approaching political issues in Nigeria.

I just don't like rushing into conclusion with out getting all the facts. For example, take a good look at Fayose's situation in Ekiti; this situation seems to be bigger than what we have been hearing for the past 6 weeks. Patient is the answer to an accurate judgment.

Trust me, we must respect the law and the people of Nigeria for all of us to move forward effectively.
It is totally unfair and uncivilized to label any citizen as a criminal without getting a chance to defend himself or herself in the court of law.

ODEKU: This is why I call you a pin head dolt from time to time. You just love to open up your reeky glut mouth without any use of common sense.

It is totally uncivilized to call someone a criminal with out being prosecuted or proven guilty; and I've noticed that this happens to be one of your barbarous characters. You need to slow down and stop acting like you're informed.

Mike like many other folks remain innocent till proven otherwise; this cat is not running from anybody and definitely has nothing to be running for. He has done the right thing to protect his life and to stop politicians from drawing him into their political muddles. I would have done thesame thing with out any questions.

It will be unfair and terrible to continue to tarnish the image of this man without knowing the real inside story. I will advise to leave this cat alone and allow time to tell.

FYI: He's not wanted by any organization, he's a serious business man who is determined to invest in Nigeria and move Nigeria as a country to the next level. All his businesses in Nigeria are still being conducted effectively by himself.
Trust me, they don't want him; the government knows who they really want. Hence leave him alone.

The subject in this topic is totally incorrect, the library project or deal has been in place for more than 2 years. He has no reason to be demanding what the subject of this topic says.
Trust me, when he wants to do something, he does it to the best of his mighty ability without any hesitation.
Moreover, if you're smart then you need to recognize the fact that OBJ library is really for the Nigerian citizens, an accomplishment that will benefit Nigerians for ever.
Instead of rushing into an inconclusive conclusion, let's slow down and profoundly think about things.

Please, let's be realistic and smart, do not allow political propaganda you do not understand to blindfold you from seeing the truth, my friends.

May God bless Nigeria.

ODEKU: what's wrong with you?

Don't you know that once the minister is being probed, it also means every single party in that department is being probed.

The same finger that touches the first wife will also touch the second wife, third wife, fourth wife and so on.

They all must be heavily probed and this action will definitely protect the lives of the citizens, it will also give people confidence to fly with no fear.

This is one of the things IBB will reform as soon as he becomes our new president in 2007.

May God bless Nigeria.
Politics › Re: Plane Crash In Nigeria! by BigB11(m): 9:59pm On Oct 12, 2006
SEUN: I see your point, but you can not compare apple to mango. There are many restriction and protocol governing the transport aviation.
The science and technology of flight through the air is a serious process that needs to be managed by serious people or organization; we can not afford to have incompetent individual in this position.

The air-transport aviation is primarily the operation of commercial airlines essentially as a public utility for the movement of people; and keep in mind that 99% of these people do not have control over their safety once the plane is in the air; unlike land transportation that gives people several options in regard to transporting themselves or how, when, or where to be transported. In other words people have more control when it comes to land transportation.

Hence whenever there is a plane crash (which is probably once or twice a year), a civilized country should hold someone or an organization responsible. This is not a bad thing, but an effective strategy to ensure the safety of the citizens.

I support the notion to probe the aviation minister responsible when ever there is a plane crash.

THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said, yesterday, that it had not cleared any politician, state governors inclusive, for the 2007 elections, and warned that anyone already jubilating that he had a clean bill of health already was doing so at his own risk.

The election date is around the corner and none of these candidates has been cleared to officially start the preparation for the election.

Does this make any sense?

Because I smell fish.
Politics › Re: The Fear Of EFCC by BigB11(m): 5:16pm On Oct 10, 2006
ODEKU: if corruption in Nigeria is reduced by 10%, but the process in place is not being executed fairly and properly, it will eventually increase the complexity of the situation.

Nobody is against EFCC, all we are asking for is for them to be fair, be professional and respect the law/ people of Nigeria.

Do remember the beginning of the Iraq war and what is currently going on in that area?

If things are not done properly, you may accomplish your goal, but the opportunity cost may also be very pricey, which usually defeats the purpose.
Politics › Re: Should Africa Have Nuclear Weapons? by BigB11(m): 4:28pm On Oct 10, 2006
Nuclear Weapons shouldn't be on our agenda at the moment. First thing first, I think African countries need food and medical accessibilities.

Nuclear weapons development is a way to demand for respect from the world and a way to protect the nation.

If 85% of the population in the entire African countries are struggling to eat 2 meals per day, who is going to respect you and what exactly are you trying to protect?

From my point of view, Nuclear Weapons development should be a process African countries should consider may be in 50 years time. At the moment it will be a mere waste of time and money, that we do not have.

I've been everywhere, but there is no place like United States. The foundation, the structure, the strategy, the mind set, the life style, the standard of living, the tradition, the civilization, the leadership standard, the accessibility and so on are untouchable.

There is hope for everybody. As long as you're focused, smart and you keep your noise clean, sky is the limit.

Eventhough the current government is not completely competent, but other than that, lovely people (black or white) and lovely land.

I view United States as another world; Nothing is better.

First of all, Respect to Vatsa's family and others.

Guys, it is very very important to understand the military protocol before passing judgment on this issue. For the respect that I have for others, especially the folks that lost love ones, I will not comment on this issue. But it is fair to get the inside story and understand the risk that is associated to being part of a coup.

Coup is a serious business, not a joke.

What kind of example is our president is showing the governors, children of Nigeria, future leaders and also his VP?

One of the most important duties of an effective leader is to lay a solid foundation for the future by showing great examples to the entire poplation of the nation.

How can one blame Atiku and others for their wrong doing when our number one man is dirty as a farm pig?

It should be a requirement for all the political candidates (current and future) to take effective leadership class for 3 months from a credited university in United States. This will not solve the entire problem but at least it will point these folks toward the right direction.
I truly believe that one of our major obstacles in Nigeria is poor leadership, I truly believe that most leaders in Nigeria do not understand the role or the concept of a dedicated leader.

Being a leader in Nigeria should been seen as a serious career, not a vocational position.

Let's face the fact, even the mind of the new generations are corrupt; all they crave for is opportunity to get there and clean up as usual. This is because corruption has become part of our culture and lack of effective leaders is responsible for this deficiency.

My Point: it doesn't matter who the next president is; it could be the former president or ex military officer or a new generation, just keep in mind that nothing is guaranteed. As long as new strategy is not in place, we will continue to dance to the same old music.

Be open minded, be smart and educate yourself before casting your vote

May God bless Nigeria.

Here is an insight story, please take your time and enjoy the article.

Nigeria: Deconstructing the PTDF Funds Saga. By Pelumi Akinkoye October 5, 2006

THE plot of the PTDF funds saga will go down as one of the most intriguing scheming in the corridor of power in Nigeria. As a lawyer, I came to this conclusion after a careful study of all relevant materials on this PTDF saga namely the EFCC report, the administrative panel report, Jefferson's letter to Obasanjo, Atiku's letter to the National Assembly, The New York Times expose on Congressman Jefferson as published by Nigeria's Vanguard on September 22, 2006, literature on the operations of the PTDF as published in the local media and The News edition of October 2, 2006. My conclusion is that Obasanjo has cleverly weaved the campaign expenses of his deputy from a campaign account they jointly manage to accuse him of mismanaging PTDF funds through two mutual friends of theirs: Otunba Mike Adenuga and Otunba Oyewole Fasawe.

I am taking the challenge to expose this grand deceit so that whatever is the outcome of the present scheming, Nigerians will not go away with the impression that the whole tragic-comedy is something else.

Firstly, the claim by Obasanjo that he acted on Congressman Jefferson's letter to institute investigation of PTDF accounts has been disputed by at least two reference sources on the PTDF saga. If you read Jefferson's letter to Obasanjo which has been published in the media, he admitted that he was writing the letter in reaction to an earlier letter by his estranged Nigerian business partner(Otunba Fasawe) who had petitioned Presidents Obasanjo and George Bush of the U.S.A against Jefferson. What this means is that Jefferson was not the first to inform Obasanjo about the stalled business.

The truth one can deduce from Jefferson's letter, Atiku's letter and FBI claims in The New York Times is that Otunba Fasawe has sought President Obasanjo's support to get the American government to help him retrieve his $6.5million trapped in the hands of Jefferson and iGate. In essence, Jefferson's allegations against Fasawe will pass for a blackmail to get even with Fasawe and indeed, escape from having to refund his money.

If Jefferson was reacting to Fasawe's petition and the request for his money, then the logical step for Mr. President is to suspect his allegations which I think he did. This probably explains why he kept the letter in his drawers for two years until he needed anything, just anything, to get even with his troublesome deputy. .

The second major premise of EFCC indictment of the Vice President is that he approved the investment of PTDF funds in ETB and TIB without the approval of the FEC. This, again, is a falsehood designed to achieve a preconceived goal. Anyone who reads the literature on the operation of PTDF and Atiku's defence in the letter to the National Assembly will see through this. In summary, the issue at hand is not FEC's approval of investment in the banks because FEC never exercised such powers on PTDF. The PTDF is a "fund" which conducts its operations with income revenue generated through the investment of its funds.

It does not seek nor ever got FEC approval for such investment. The $125million that was approved by the FEC was not for investment. It was for projects and programmes of the PTDF. When FEC approved the concepts of the projects, the Executive Secretary of the PTDF raised a memo in which he argued that since the projects in question will take considerable time to pass through conception and due process, the funds could be better invested in banks to generate additional revenue for the government, an argument the Vice President shared.

The deposit of funds in banks did not require the approval of FEC and as such, no one breached any regulation by not getting an approval. The agency of government saddled with the responsibility of supervising such venture is the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF). Every account, including the EFCC report confirms that the AGF was not only duly informed of the investment in ETB and TIB; he approved the investment as requested by law.

The choice of ETB and TIB is also not arbitrary as EFCC report makes it look. The two banks at all material time were duly certified among banks that could receive government investment. In essence, the AGF (not FEC) whose approval was required for the investment of the funds in the two banks approved the venture. As such, no law was breached in the investment.

It logically follows that if no law had been breached in the investment of the funds in ETB and TIB as evident above, the banks who are in business to play an intermediary role in the economy have the freewill to lend their money to whoever they like as long as such people satisfy their criteria.

It is therefore the business of ETB and TIB who they do business with.
