Gbenga Daniel faces impeachment?

THE crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assumed a new dimension with the planned impeachment of the State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, on Wednesday by the factions believed to be loyal to former president, Olusegun Obasanjo and Speaker Dimeji Bankole.


Sunday Tribune reliably gathered that the impeachment of the state governor would be tabled by the State House of Assembly, after a vote of no confidence would have been passed on him by the lawmakers.


It was also learnt that House members, who are in the minority but loyal to the former president and Speaker Bankole, are being used against the governor. This group of lawmakers, it was also gathered, were led by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Tunji Egbetokun.


It was reliably gathered that the recent visit of some lawmakers from the state to Speaker Dimeji Bankole was to perfect strategies towards the impeachment of the governor.


The lawmakers, it was also learnt, after meeting with the Speaker, were hosted by Senator Iyabo Obasanjo whose father is believed to be in the forefront of those planning for the impeachment of the state governor.


Part of the decision reached at the Abuja meeting, according to a reliable Sunday Tribune source, was that those lawmakers who did not accompany the pro-impeachment lawmakers to Abuja would either be suspended or expelled from the House after which the impeachment of the state governor would be tabled on the floor of the House.


Sunday Tribune also learnt that Obasanjo’s grouse against Governor Daniel was his insistence that the senatorial chairman of the party, for Ogun Central, Tunde Osholake, be replaced, in order not to destroy the political balancing in the state. The state chapter of the party, was said to have, through the governor, impressed it on Osholake to vacate the senatorial chairmanship position because the speaker, who succeeded Hon. Titi Oseni, hails from the Obafemi/Owode local government.


The party was said to have, after the impreach-ment of the former speaker, rezoned the office of the senatorial chairman to Odeda local government, where Hon. Bode Mustapha hails from.


The new arrangement Sunday Tribune gathered, did not go down well with Obasanjo, who saw the action as being targeted at him. Obasanjo was said to have been miffed with the move by Daniel to render him politically impotent in the state. He was said to have vowed to give it all it takes, to ensure the exit of Daniel from the seat of power before the expiration of his tenure.


Chief Obasanjo was said to have declared that he was not ready to allow himself to be so treated by Governor Daniel the way he is being treated in the party at the national level. It was gathered that Obasanjo decided to stand against the replacement of Osholake as the senatorial chairman because Osholake is allegedly his stoogee and man Friday.


Contrary to media report that the Ogun State governor walked out on the former president at the party’s zonal meeting in Ibadan, Sunday Tribune gathered that the Ogun State governor actually informed the zonal leadership of the party before the commencement of the meeting that he would not stay till the end of the meeting because he had to attend to some pressing state matters.

Guys, do not let us get carried away. Governors still represent one of our main problems in Nigeria.
A governor position represents a great life time retirement plan (99% of these folks do not have any plans to ever work again after the completion of their terms).
Hence, for those 4 0r 8 years in the office, these folks find various ways to set themselves up for life. I'm sorry to inform you that Fashola and Daniel are not exceptional, they are also among them (the thieves).

FYI: regardless of the circumstances, Gbenga Daniel Kissed OBJ dirty ass for 4 straight years, simply because OBJ was living in Aso rock. He became very big or too big for himself as soon as his god father (OBJ) relocated. He is now very disrespectful and currently not on talking terms with OBJ.
OBJ is absolutely not my man, but Mr. Daniel's action is simply ridiculous and represents a sell out.

Any Nigerian whosoever that is caught for any offence anywhere, be it Singapore, Saudi, Russia, or anywhere even America should be tried and if found guilty should be made to face the full wrath of the law, nobody is saying here that they should not.

but what we are saying is that america cannot, and does not have the right, both legally and MORALLY, to come onto Nigerian soil and say they want to investigate and try nigerians.

Where does that put you as a sovereign nation? It shows that you as a nation cannot get your acts together. Can't you arrest and try the same people yourselves? Do you need america to do that for you?

If this happened in UK or any other 'white' or non-african country, would america do the same and go in to arrest?

As gay church arrives Nigeria, Christian, Muslim clerics declare:It’s evil!

A welter of criticism has greeted the emergence of the first openly declared gay church in the country.
Both Christian and Muslim clerics have not only condemned it, they equally dismissed it as evil.

In very strong terms, therefore, they want the National Assembly to enact laws to stop what they describe as a festering sore from gaining roots and spreading.

The Archdeacon of Oleh Diocese in Delta State, Ven. M.A.E Igri, in his reaction, said “the church is not biblical and out of tune with God’s plan. God created man and woman to be married to themselves. The situation where a man will be married to a man is wrong and unacceptable.”

Coincidentally, while the Lagos debauchery was on, Anglican priests in Nigeria were holding an All-Anglican Clergy conference at Nsukka, Enugu State, where they spoke against gay marriages that is currently threatening the cohesion in the Church.
Similarly, the National Missioner of the Ansar-u-deen Society of Nigeria, Abdurrahman Ahmad called on the National Assembly to legislate against homosexuality in Nigeria.
Said he: “All people of conscience and people of faith must rise to fight this evil.”

Genesis
For the first time in Nigeria, men who openly declared themselves as homosexuals gathered penultimate weekend at a church in Ojudu, a Lagos suburb.
Under the auspices of a yet-to-be registered church - House of Rainbow Metropolitan Community Church - the men held a seminar and night vigil.
The heavily guarded event paraded men who wore necklaces, rings, conducted themselves and spoke softly like women.

Grand Irony
Ironically, the homosexuals held the fiesta in the hall of United Bible University, Yakoyo Road, Ojudu, Lagos. The venue also serves as a place of worship for Christian Pentecostal Mission (CPM). The event, Sunday Sun learnt, was championed by a lawyer and Theologian, Rev. Roland Babajide Macaulay. On the days of the event, a retinue of mean – looking, ill-tempered security men barred our reporter from entering the venue and meeting the men.

However, when Sunday Sun revisited the place Wednesday evening, the hall, SARRMAC Auditorium, was being arranged for an evening worship by CPM. The church’s minister distanced the CPM from it.
“We have no connection with them whatsoever. We only hire this hall for service. We don’t own it,” he said. But he however, acknowledged hearing of the event.

Unmasked
As revealed by a plaque on the wall of the auditorium, the building was commissioned by the convener of the event, Rev. Roland Babajide Macaulay, on Saturday, November 10, 2001.
Sunday Sun investigation reveals that the man is the son of the founder, president and director of studies of United Bible University, Rev. Dr. Augustus Olakunle Macaulay. When our reporter sought to speak with him, a female secretary of his said he was out of town.

On his own
Contacted on phone, Rev. Macaulay denied having any link with the event. “God forbid! I don’t support any thing that’s contrary to the teachings of the bible and God,” he said, sounding shocked.
Asked to comment on his son’s glaring contradictory stance, he declined, saying, “I don’t want to discuss that. All I can say is that the man is my son and he’s over 40.”

Pressed for a proper interview, Rev. Dr. Augusts said he was at Owerri conducting a seminar, and from there he would head to Akwa Ibom and won’t be back until end of the month.
The United Bible University was established in 1994. The date is boldly emblazoned on its outer wall. To prove the top connection of the owner of the University, a new storey building - Moses Iloh Hall - was commissioned on Saturday June 17, 2006, by Hon. Oluyemi Cadoso, former Commissioner for Budget and Planning in Lagos State. The institution, according to a message on the wall of the new hall, aims to “develop moral Christian and ministerial education.”

A board in the University’s SARRMAC Auditorium listed Mrs O.A. Adeboye as O.A. Adeboye as Appreciation Award and Best Award Winner, for 1980 to 1994. Homosexuality and HIV/AIDS
In a recent survey, Integrated Biological and Behaviour Surveillance ranks homosexuals second to female sex workers, as the group with the highest figure of HIV/AIDS. In fact, the survey puts the prevalence rate among men who have sex with men (MSM) at 13.5 percent.

Closet existence
Sunday Sun learnt that the church, House of Rainbow Metropolitan Community Church has been existing in the closet since 2006. The church, according to a source, is affiliated to other metropolitan community churches in America and Europe.
In a public statement, Rev. Roland Macaulay is quoted as saying that the church is “a mission and vision to transform hearts, lives and history and especially, to help people reconcile their sexuality and spirituality.”

Raging controversy
The ordination of gays as priests in the Anglican Church has raised a lot of dust and it is threatening to splinter the Anglican Communion. The leaders of the church in America and Britain have conciliatory view on the matter. But African bishops are resolute on non-admittance and ordination of gays.

Woe betide them
At a week-long All-Anglican Clergy Conference which ended penultimate Friday at Nsukka, Enugu state, the issue reverberated. The Primate of All Nigeria Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Peter Jasper Akinola said that, “Anglican orthodox members of this church are poised to do the mission of the church and those who say that gay is their concern woe onto them.”

Crime and punishment
A lawyer in Lagos, Mr Godwin Ewa took a critical look at the gathering of gays and described it as a fad in Europe and America being imported into the country.
“Nigeria is a dumping ground for all manners of products and perverted ideas and lifestyle. From this development, it won’t be long before we begin to hear of gay rights, same sex marriage and so on,” he said.

Lamenting that homosexuality is an infringement and a complete assault on the nation’s core values, Ewa blamed it on the lax law and lenient punishment for offenders. The law classifies it as “unnatural offences” under Section 214 and “indecent practices between males” under Section 217 of the Criminal Code,” he said.
According to him, the Criminal Code criminalizes homosexual, gay marriages, lesbianism and sodomy. When an offender is convicted, he or she could be jailed for up to 14 years.

An interview with the United States of America newly picked "VP" candidate, Sarah Palin.

Press: Governor Palin, please tell us why you have been reluctant to grant interviews to the mainstream news media?

Sarah Palin: First of all, reluctant is the wrong word. I wasn't reluctant, I just didn't want to do it, and John McCain didn't want me to do it.

Press: Not wanting to and being reluctant to, aren't they the same thing?

Palin: Guys, see how you are twisting my words already? I did not want to give interviews for this very reason. The mainstream news media has a liberal bias against me and my message, against John McCain and the Republican Party. Why should I feed myself to you sharks? I answer to the American people, not the liberal media.

Press: With all due respect, Governor Palin, I think our readers, viewers and listeners are the American people. They have a right to know where you stand on the issues.

Palin: It's obvious where I stand. I am on the side of God and country on every issue.

Press: Who is advising you on these matters?

Palin: I use the best source known to man: the Bible. I pray, I ask "What would Jesus do?', I talk to John McCain and his team, people like Joe Lieberman who is with me today. I have a good handle on the issues.

Press: Let's look at the war in Iraq. Where do you stand on that? Is the surge working?

Palin: Guys, guys, you can do better than that. I thought you wanted to ask me really tough questions, but ok, you want to talk Iraq. It is God's will and the desire of the American people that we succeed in Iraq. We cannot run away from our responsibilities to God and country in Iraq.

Press: But is the surge working, Governor Palin?

Press: Does that mean you would be willing to work with unsavory regimes if it helps America's interests? What about spreading the values of freedom and democracy.

Palin: Well, you know guys, you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs. And you have to get your hands dirty if you're going to dig a ditch. Maybe we gotta get our hands dirty sometimes, mix with the bad guys because there's a bigger picture. Does God want it? Does America need it? Those are the only criteria.

Press: So you would be in favor of invading Iran if it was in America's interests?

Palin: I think ,

Palin: That question is unfair guys. America's aim is for peace through security. We seek a responsible international role and full cooperation with our allies. If those allies backslide on their God-given responsibilities to freedom and justice, then America will shoulder the burden.

Palin: We must take whatever measures are necessary to secure peace in the world, to rid it of terrorist threats, to stop rogue nations from setting the global agenda.

Press: I take that as a yes

Palin: You take that anyway you like. The point is, first comes God and America, which means the universal values of freedom, country, and family. We can argue about the details when the shooting stops. The big picture is, does God want it? Does America need it? Simple.

Press: Do you see yourself continuing the Bush Doctrine?

Palin: In what respect, umm, I don't quite follow? I think ,

Palin: Umm, yes, to answer your question, we must be prepared to strike against those who plot against us, even pre-emptively.

Press: So you and John McCain support and aim to continue the Bush doctrine. You would, for example, be willing to strike inside Pakistan without the agreement of Pakistan's government if you thought America's enemies were there?

Palin: Well, we would of course work with our allies, but we must always put American interests first. We can't be too sensitive about the needs of other countries if they do not support our foreign policy with regard to fighting terrorism.

Press: How would you bring North Korea back into the international community?

Palin: I would encourage them to join NATO and the European Community.

Press: But there are democratic requirements to joining NATO. The last time we looked, North Korea was not a democratic country. How would you encourage democracy in the country?

Palin: We would let them know that they face the full might and anger of our nation if they are not prepared to meet their people's desire for freedom.

Press: You said that they should join the European Community, but North Korea is not in Europe.

Palin: Guys, you are deliberately misunderstanding me. We would encourage North Korea to sign treaties and trade agreements with like-minded democratic nations, Japan and South Korea for example.

Press: Have you traveled much, Governor Palin?

Palin: I have traveled a lot, but not as much as I would like to. I did not travel outside the United States until I was 40. As a mom and a governor, I don't have so much time for traveling. I am too busy. I guess I'll travel more when I'm vice president.

Press: Have you ever had to negotiate with foreign powers in your capacity as governor of Alaska.

Palin: Yes I have, but I have never met a foreign head of state. I did meet the Bogotol volleyball team from Russia at Anchorage Airport. They were doing a tour of Alaska. And I often meet with men and women from the Yukon to plan various activities. The Yukon is in Canada, a foreign country.

Press: You planned 'various activities'?

Palin: Yes, I did. You have to meet people if you're going to build a pipeline from Alaska to the rest of America. Then there are the usual gubernatorial duties: ribbon-cutting, bake sales, church events, snowshoe races, the Iron Dog, those kinds of things. You might not know this but Canadians drive a hard bargain. Putin is nothing compared to the Klondike Ladies Club.

Press: Some critics say you are simply John McCain's fashion accessory, you're an American Idol to them. They comment on your eyeglasses, your shoes, your hairstyle, your National Guard t-shirts.

Palin: I would love to be an American idol, and I believe in the right to bare arms,  and legs. It's a women's thing. You wouldn't understand. Next question.

Press: If the phone called at 3 a.m. to say that your kid was sick, would you break off your meeting with Mr. Putin?

Palin: Why would I be meeting with Mr Putin at three in the morning? Besides, ask Joe Biden that question first, then get back to me.

Press: Do you have close ties with the oil industry?

Palin: Of course I do. As governor of Alaska, oil is a big part of our lives. With God's will, we will bring more oil to the people of America. Our way of life depends on oil. We need more oil from our our own soil and our own shores.

Press: You are in favor of offshore drilling?

Palin: I say drill more now. Start today and drill everywhere. Drill off California, drill in Kansas, drill off Florida, drill in the Everglades, drill in Alaska, drill in the Grand Canyon and Yosemite if we need to.

Press: What about the environment?

Palin: There's enough environment for everybody. In Alaska we have too much environment.

Press: Shouldn't we change our lifestyle to save the planet and its resources?

Palin: The planet and all its abundance is a gift from God to those made in his likeness. In other words, the planet is ours to use. It's a sin not to consume the resources we are given. The American lifestyle is about more and better. We constantly strive for more: more material well being, more freedom, more health, more security. God has blessed this country and its people.

Press: Do you believe that creationism should be taught in school science classes?

Palin: I believe that competing theories should be allowed to compete. I am not a scientist but I think Darwin got it wrong. He didn't know his Bible.

Press: What is your view on same sex marriage? Would you like to see a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage? Are you in favor of civil unions for gay couple?

Palin: This is a thorny issue. I don't wish to tell anyone how to live their lives, but I do want to tell them that marriage is about a man and a woman in a long-term, loving relationship recognized by law and the Lord. I do not think people's rights should be taken away, nor do I think people should be granted special rights by virtue of not being heterosexual.

Press: Why did you first support then oppose the bridge to nowhere?

Palin: Alaska needs all the help and infrastructure funding it can get. When I first heard about the bridge, I assumed it was going somewhere, so I supported it. When I found out it was going nowhere, I mean when I found out there'D be no long term federal funding, I opposed it.

Press: Why do you oppose Obama's earmarks when you have been more active than he in seeking earmarks for your state? Some say you are known as the Earmark Queen of Alaska.

Palin: First, Alaska needs that money more than Illinois does. Second, I oppose him because it's my job. He's my opponent. I am right and he's wrong. The country needs to know that.

Press: As a fiscal conservative and opponent of wasteful state and federal spending, why did you bill the state of Alaska for 312 nights when you stayed in your own home?

Palin: I do no more than the rules allow. I probably do less. Remember, I tried to sell the governor's jet on eBay. But, fair's fair. My family needs to be reimbursed when we spend money representing the state.

Press: Even your children? How can your youngest children perform state duties?

Palin: When my children are with me, they're representing the state of Alaska. Family is important. I don't expect my critics on the left to understand that. They want to destroy marriage by allowing gay people to marry, by encouraging teen pregnancies, out-of-wedlock pregnancies, by distributing free condoms.

Press: But governor, your own teenage daughter ,

Palin: You are out of line. I will not have you drag my family through the dirt in this interview. Next question.

Press: In what has been called your first major gaffe, you claimed that the lending institutions Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." Surely, you should know that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are not taxpayer funded?

Palin: This nit picking is exactly what's wrong with the mainstream media, always trying to find fault. What you are saying is about as important as not knowing that Brett Favre has moved to the Jets. It's a minor detail.

Press: It's not such a minor detail for the millions of Americans who can't pay their mortgages. Surely a candidate for vice president should know how the housing market works?

Palin: That's the point, the housing market doesn't work. There are a lot of families in million dollar homes who should be in trailer parks. They need to work harder and take out realistic loans. It's called tough love.

Press: Why are you a global warming skeptic?

Palin: The climate is changing but human impact on it is minimal. But I am still learning about this; I am prepared to change my mind. I think our ability to change climate is non-existent but I am still prepared to try, just like I am prepared to drill for oil even though it probably won't impact prices or supply. I say we should adapt to changing climate just as we adapt to everything else. If it's warmer or colder, wetter or drier, so what? The main priority is to build prosperity for the American people.

Press: How do you explain that to the people of Bangladesh who are threatened by flooding as a result of rising sea levels? How do you explain it to Inuit hunters?

Palin: I tell them to adapt. The world is not static. The successful people of the future will be those who can make the most of a changing world. Global warming creates business opportunities, don't forget that. If there were dinosaurs alive today, there'D be people crying about them becoming extinct. As it is, they are extinct and we don't care. The same will happen to lions, polar bears, and rare apes. It's called progress.

Press: Is that why it's ok to hunt wolves from helicopters?

Palin: Look, you have to understand, moose and caribou are important sources of food for many Alaskans. We don't want the wolves taking too much of that resource so we control their numbers. It's too time-consuming to hunt them from the ground. Times have moved on, this is how we do things today.

Press: What do you say to those critics who question your lack of education and experience?

Palin: Our opponent, Senator Obama, is a Harvard graduate. That already puts him out of touch with 99% of the American people. He's an elitist. I studied the hard way, the American way, the normal way. The University of Idaho is a good school. As for experience, I have more than enough of that.

Press: What makes you so sure you are ready to be vice president. How can the American people trust you have enough experience?

Palin: Americans are sick and tired of East Coast and West Coast elitists who are better educated than they are, more widely traveled, better read. Americans want to be represented by people just like themselves. I am an ordinary American, a hockey mom, that's why people have confidence in me.

Press: As mayor of Wasilla and governor of Alaska, you have gained enough experience to run America?

Palin: Yes, I am a hard working woman who weeds out corruption, leads by example, never rests until the task is done. I pray that God is on my side and that I serve God to the best of my ability. I will not rest until I have given God and country my all.

I will immediately push for the modification of our weak constitution (I will basically focus more on two things):

1. Make all Government positions extremely unattractive.
2. Approve the public execution of all convicted corrupt government officials

Once these 2 points are well implemented, I have complete confidence that every thing else (eg: higher education standard, constant electric power, constant water supply, better hospitals, advancement or improvement of infrastructure, reliable security service to the citizens, better accountability standards , equal opportunity for all, higher taxes for the wealthy and corporations, annual ₦35,000 tuition credit for all college students in exchange for 200 hours of community service, introduce war against filthy and uncivilized mentality and many many more) will fall in place naturally.

No need to waste time, or money; the root of our problems is plain and very simple (undedicated leaders and corruption) and I will dedicate all my 4 years in the office on targeting this root vigorously.

If you use the right fertilizer at the beginning of planting season, the plant will produce sweet fruits; the last thing you want to do is transplanting a plant that has already produced bad fruits.
And this is what we are facing in Nigeria today; no-one has the balls to introduce a long term solution (modification of our weak constitution). They just want to continue to fool us by transplanting all the worthless strategies on earth, that will not produce a single tangible thing for an average citizen of Nigeria at the end of the day.

that is not true at all. Black people were actually pro-Clinton until Obama surprisingly won in Iowa (a predominantly white state by the way). Its never been a black people thing, in fact the Obama campaign has tried so hard not to paint him as the black candidate to good effect till now.
Even if all the blacks were to vote for McCain today, racist whites still wont vote for Obama.

Again, this has nothing to do with color; Jessie Jackson ran in 1984 and Al Sharpton did the same in 2004.
Jessie did not get anything close to the support Obama continues to get from Black folks; in fact, Sharpton got less than 2% black votes.

This is more than just color; it is all about picking the right president. And it is crystal clear that McCain is an incredible man, but absolutely not the type of leader America needs at this moment.
On the other hand, I can not say much about Palin, because I know nothing tangible about her.
