1. It is obvious that Michelle Obama is too real and too strong for white folks to handle, I will prefer Obama to allow Michelle to lay-low for now. Nobody seems to be focusing on her at the moment, I think it would be better and safer to keep it this way.

2. This is obviously bigger than a white or a black thing; I think Obama needs to systematically send this message to white folks who are still paranoid about having a black president, by campaigning side by side with Joe Biden from now on till Nov 3 2008.

3. It has been confirmed that McCain's camp has decided to cut the risk by not allowing Sarah Palin to engage with any TV or radio interview till the end of the presidential election. I think this is the perfect time for Obama to take advantage of this strategic decision, by sending his VP (Joe Biden) to every single TV talk show all over the country from now on till Nov 3 2008.
This move would expose McPalin and make Americans wonder what McPalin's team is trying to hide.

4. The current economic crisis in United States is very scary and for the first time Americans are thinking about the future of their nation; I think this is the best time for Obama's camp to run several TV commercials all around the country, showing McCain speaking to the crowd stating that he knows nothing about solution to the bad economy and also stating that the economy is very strong. It wouldn't be a bad idea if dates and time when he made these statements are also shown on the screen.

5. It would also be great if Hillary Clintion could be thrown out there to campaign more; I'll like to see her more on TV shows like The View, Larry King Show, Fox Noise etc.

6. Obama's team should target McCain (while they also give him respect for his POW mess) and avoid mentioning Sarah Palin's name as much as possible.

I'm with you on this one.
You can not make an accurate judgement from just reading the transcript; you need to hearing her annoying voice, childish facial expresion and unprofessional positioning of her body.

She absolutely read everything from the note they wrote for her. This was one of the reasons why some of her answers were totally from another planet. She did not have answers on her cheat note for most of thee questions.

If we are able to forget the past, look ahead and successfully implement 1 on 1 "4 presidential debates" into our political structure in Nigeria, I think the enormous benefit or advantages from the implementation would be priceless for the present and future.
In-fact, I'm confident that other African countries will follow once it is established in Nigeria.

It isn't only a bright strategy, but also the right thing to do; and something tells me that with time, it would be implemented.

Think about it!

My 4th assignment will be to introduce the selection of Most Valuable Contributor, every 6 months.
This elected MVC will also win a gift for his or her wisdom and dedication.

I think this implementation would encourage Nairaland members to be more serious and sensible at the same time.
Nairaland makes money every minute; this implementation is another way to share part of this income with the members.

The Invisible Model Minority

This is not just limited to us African immigrants, but also Caribbean immigrants (Haiti, Jamaica, Barbados, etc. . .)

First, I must admit to you (blackspade) that this is an excellent article and I recommend to others to take a quick look at it.

Second, it bothers me when Nigerians in America feel free to castigate African Americans for not measuring up to the golden standard. I wonder what is this Nigerian Golden Standard?
Just keep in mind that if it wasn't for these people, you hypocrite would be here with me in Ajegunle eating smoked corn for dinner 6 times a week.

Personally, I'll prefer African Americans to criticise each other; but for some Nigerian back-scratcher to careless open up his or her mouth to talk down at these people is absolutely ridiculous.

Finally, instead of bringing them down, why not show your sincere support by embracing what they've been through and what they stand for?

Yes, they do not have our incredible culture, but could someone please give me a complete description of our diluted uncivilised culture?
We need to slow down a bit; with all our education, flashy cars, and big houses, most of us are still empty inside.

It is very important for us to clearly understand that we're all equal, and none of us is in a position to point out the defectiveness of others; especially African Americans.

Between you and I, this group of people (African Americans) indirectly look up to us (Africans); and we mustn't allow our ignorance and anger to cloud our judgment.; we are all brothers and sisters.

He's a fair and sensible individual.

He's extremely proud of Nigeria and Nigerians (even at the lowest point).
He understands real Nigerian politics and has the most reliable political predictions.

Sometimes, it takes a single step to positively ignite the whole continent.
For me, I think it would be  the greatest accomplishment if an African gets the opportunity to own one of the most valuable and historical soccer teams in Europe.
It would be a priceless gift for the present and the future.

I still feel comfortable to state that it is absolutely foolish to categorize all foreign investors into the same bucket (just because of few bad outcomes); it isn't right and it shouldn't be acceptable.

Yes, she recently met and turned several heads of state as the United Nations General Assembly convened in New York. She was gracious, charming and disarming. Men swooned. Pakistan's president wanted to hug her. (Perhaps Osama bin Laden is dying to meet her?)

And, yes, she has common sense, something we value. And she's had executive experience as a mayor and a governor, though of relatively small constituencies (about 6,000 and 680,000, respectively).

Finally, Palin's narrative is fun, inspiring and all-American in that frontier way we seem to admire. When Palin first emerged as John McCain's running mate, I confess I was delighted. She was the antithesis and nemesis of the hirsute, Birkenstock-wearing sisterhood -- a refreshing feminist of a different order who personified the modern successful working mother.

Palin didn't make a mess cracking the glass ceiling. She simply glided through it.

It was fun while it lasted.

Palin's recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I've been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I've also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there's not much content there. Here's but one example of many from her interview with Hannity:

"Well, there is a danger in allowing some obsessive partisanship to get into the issue that we're talking about today. And that's something that John McCain, too, his track record, proving that he can work both sides of the aisle, he can surpass the partisanship that must be surpassed to deal with an issue like this."

When Couric pointed to polls showing that the financial crisis had boosted Obama's numbers, Palin blustered wordily: "I'm not looking at poll numbers. What I think Americans at the end of the day are going to be able to go back and look at track records and see who's more apt to be talking about solutions and wishing for and hoping for solutions for some opportunity to change, and who's actually done it?"

If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.

If Palin were a man, we'd all be guffawing, just as we do every time Joe Biden tickles the back of his throat with his toes. But because she's a woman -- and the first ever on a Republican presidential ticket -- we are reluctant to say what is painfully true.

What to do?

McCain can't repudiate his choice for running mate. He not only risks the wrath of the GOP's unforgiving base, but he invites others to second-guess his executive decision-making ability. Barack Obama faces the same problem with Biden.

Only Palin can save McCain, her party and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

Do it for your country.
