Having said that, don't you think this illogical (not irrational) support for Obama proves that Africans suffer from low self-esteem. Touchy!~!~!

My man, slow down and let us think a little bit more broadly.
Just because you happen to be an original Nigerian man doesn't mean everyone on nairaland forum (supporting Obama) is also original Nigerian or Africano.
If you don't know, there are different type of folks here: we have zebra, we have others with 2 to 3 passports and we also have few that have never been to any country in Africa before; so let us slow it down.

Some of these folks may be supporting Obama because they have 2 or 3 things in common with this man and others may also be supporting him just for the sake of the liberation of blackmen in general.

This is absolutely a wrong pick and a poor job done by John McCain's camp.
It is now lingering everywhere that this chick (Sarah Palin) had an affair (that almost ruined her career few years ago) with her husband's business associate.
The dude (husband's associate) is now being shielded from the media, which I think wouldn't last.

It is now also confirmed that her redneck would be son in-law has made several racial comments on his myspace page; his buddies are now coming out to expose the dark side of this boy (the baby daddy in training).

Moreover, it has been speculated for the past 72 hr that John McCain has been very upset to be discovering all these negative development about his selected VP. And let me tell you something, when John McCain is not happy, it is extremely challenging for him to cover it up. If he isn't using vulgar language, one could easily tell from his body language.

It is called plastic surgery!

This lady has a lot in her closet and I predict that by this time next week the backfiring process of the republicans' strategy would be completed.

Obama has made this statement only not to fall into the republican trap, the trap that was strategically setup for him; and also to follow the same rule he implemented when his wife was being attacked.

FYI: Obama's supporters are not castigating the daughter, they are only focusing on this strange VP, who obviously can not put it or get it together at home.
It is obvious that she spends very little time with these kids; it is also clear that she is a little bit more tasty for her career much more than being a caring mum.

A 5 month old baby with a down syndrome needs his or her mother more than anything else. I think it is only fair to ship this chick back home to care for her children.
Quality time between mum and her children is priceless and more valuable than running for a VP spot with an empty can (McCain).

An incredible move by Obama!

One wonders why they named the busiest airport in Nigeria after him. If he was Yoruba and committed these atrocities, would they have named Kano airport after him? You wonder why we are stagnant in Nigeria. That man was worse that Abacha and IBB combined. I hope he forms another OIC in hell

Let us slow down a bit.

First, the man was the president of Nigeria and he was assassinated while in office.

Second, the national Airport in Lagos was named after him only because Lagos at that time was the capital of Nigeria, and it was the right thing to do.

It makes absolutely no sense to kick the dust at this time; it would simply be nice and sensible if we allow this man to continue to rest in peace.

I wonder what would have happened if it was Obama's daughter (Sasha) that was the one pregnant at the age of 17 year and still in high school.

Yar’Adua: Reports of My ‘Death’ Exaggerated

Like the classic humourist, Mark Twain, who had the distinction of reading his obituary while still alive, President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua yesterday described reports of his rumoured death as “grossly exaggerated”.
The whole country had been awash with rumours of the president’s “death” since Saturday following reports that he had undergone a surgery and had gone into coma.
However, speaking with Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, Chair-man/Editor-in-Chief of THISDAY, on phone late last night, the president echoed the words of Twain, saying there was an exaggeration in the wild rumour.
The conversation went thus:
THISDAY: Mr. President, good evening.
Yar’Adua: Good evening.
THISDAY: Where are you, Your Excellency?
Yar’Adua: I’m in the Land of Palm Trees. If you want some dates, I’ll bring for you (laughs).
THISDAY: Is everything all right with you, Mr. President?
Yar’Adua: All is well. I’m very okay.
THISDAY: I’m surprised that despite the rumours, your voice is sounding strong.
Yar’Adua: It is always strong. It has always been so.
THISDAY: So when should we expect you back in Nigeria?
Yar’Adua: Well, Ramadan fasting will start here in Saudi Arabia tomorrow (Monday). You know as a true Muslim, I will certainly observe the Ramadan from tomorrow (Monday). So I will return to Nigeria anytime from Tuesday (tomorrow).
THISDAY also learnt that the president spoke with key government officials, including Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan, and his aged mother in Katsina yesterday.
THISDAY checks revealed that although the President travelled to Saudi Arabia ostensibly to perform the lesser Hajj, he might have received medical attention, leading to speculations on the state of his health.
Also yesterday, the Federal Government said the President “is very well and in good health to steer the affairs of the state”.
Minister of Information and Communication John Odey dispelled the rumour about Yar’Adua’s health in a two-paragraph statement in Abuja.
He said: “The Federal Government wishes to appreciate the concern that has been raised in the newspapers and some sections of the media over the past few days on the state of health of Mr. President, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar Adua, and to restate here that Mr. President is very well and healthy.
“He is in good health to steer the affairs of the state to bring about better livelihood for the generality of the people of Nigeria. He is expected back in Nigeria soon after his trip to Saudi Arabia where he has gone on lesser hajj.”
The statement was, however, silent on reports in some newspapers that the President underwent surgery in a hospital in Saudi Arabia.
The matter of Yar’Adua’s failing health has become an issue since the days following his nomination as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the April 19 2007 presidential election when he was rumoured dead.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo had to publicly call Yar’Adua at a presidential campaign rally in Abeokuta where the latter who was then receiving medical treatment abroad dispelled rumours of his death.
But speculations about President Yar’Adua’s ill-health were rekindled again in the wake of his trip to Saudi Arabia last week shortly after approving the appointment of new service chiefs.
Following the trip, the rumour mill had it that Yar’Adua had gone to Saudi Arabia for medical treatment.
But the Federal Executive Council (FEC) after its weekly meeting last Wedn-esday told Nigerians that contrary to rumours making the round, the President was performing Umrah (lesser hajj) in Saudi Arabia.
The rumour about Yar’Adua’s ill-health and possible death, however, thickened following the cancellation of the scheduled state visit to Brazil.
Government again denied that the change had anything to do with the President’s poor health.
FEC said the president was still performing the lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia, and would return whenever he concluded the programme.
Some media reports even alleged that the President underwent surgery suspected to be kidney-related ailment at King Fahd Hospital in Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Action Congress (AC) has accused the Federal Executive Council (FEC) of deliberately feeding the public with lies over the health of President Yar'Adua.
AC’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who made the accusation last night in a statement, said the President's health could not be treated as a private affair, “because as a public official - and the foremost one at that - whatever happens to him is of interest to the citizenry and affects the entire country.”
He said: “As the President, Yar'Adua is the father of the nation. The health of the father cannot be kept as a secret from his children. It is as simple as that. That is why we are very worried that the FEC could stoop so low as to engage in cheap lies over the President's health.
“Don’t they know that the world has become a global 'glass' village where nothing is hidden?
“If the FEC's statement was made out of ignorance or lack of information on the President's health, it is bad enough! If it was made to deceive the public, it is even worse…and calls to question the sincerity of the council's members.”
The party wished the President full recovery and prayed that God would grant him good health to enable him steer the ship of state in the right direction.
AC, however, commended the Nigerian media for unearthing the truth, which according to him, is that President Yar'Adua is undergoing medical treatment in Saudi Arabia rather than being there for lesser Hajj “as deceptively disseminated by the FEC”.
He said the government's information managers had again failed the nation and shown that they were anything but professionals, “by their inability to manage the information concerning the President’s health.”
“What should have earned the President the sympathy and prayers of his countrymen and women has again become a matter for wild speculations, no thanks to inept information machinery. The state of the President's health is an important issue. It should neither be politicised nor trivialised,” he added.

Obama has released a message to his camp regarding the new development involving Palin's 17 year old pregnant daughter.

"Anyone that criticizes Palin's 17 year old pregnant daughter in my camp will be fired"
"Political candidates' family members are off limit"

1. McCain had only met Palin once (for about 15 minutes) 6 months ago and one more time over the phone couple of days before selecting her as his VP (even before I got my current job as a  french fries associate with McDonald, I was interviewed 3 times). Is this politics or simply combination of stupidity and desperation?
2. Both parties (McCain and Palin) have absolutely no chemistry and zero in common.
3. McCain's camp knew about the pregnant daughter and her other 5 months old baby that has down syndrome; (she is a trap that is strategically setup by McCain's camp) they intentionally made this decision to pick her, (in-spite of all her negative issues) for the following reason:

-Women voters would be passionate to voter for a mother with a down syndrome 5 months old baby
-People will criticize her daughter so much that criticism would eventually backfire and folks will start turning against Obama
-She has so much going for her positively and negatively that all attention would be directed to her and eventually folks would forget all about Obama's incredible speech.

4. Governor Palin finds it very difficult to properly monitor her home/17 years old daughter, but republicans think she is ready to monitor the talibans
5. A responsible human being would prefer to focus more on raising her children, especially the one that has down syndrome.
6. A responsible mother would chose the privacy of her 17 year old pregnant daughter over running as a VP for any political party.
7. It has also been confirmed that Sarah Palin or her husband is a member of Alaska independent party.
8. She has been selected in order for some political requirements to be accomplished by republican party.

A woman with this background should not be a "heart beat" away from being the President of United States of America.  McCain is constantly reminding us that he puts "country first" (before his personal agenda); how is picking a woman with this much baggage and this little experience putting "country first"?  It's not putting country first; it's just a gimmick aimed at appeasing women to achieve his personal goal of becoming the next President.

McCain is an empty man who has nothing to offer and he clearly knows it too, but I just find it difficult to identify why it's taking this long for his block head supporters to see the light.

I have confidence and I know for a fact that it is not over yet; it is not even close.

With time, the noise will die down, and folks will come back together and make the right decision.

McCain got nothing; and he knows it too!

I think this would calm things down a bit.

All Hillary Clinton needs to do now is to come out and make this statement:

The republican party is now turning this presidential election into a game, a mind game; but Americans are too smart not to see the bigger picture.

My fellow Americans, do not fall for this cheap game; Palin is a wonderful wife, and a great mother. I've known her for almost 15 years as a friend and she is also an incredible friend, but what is on the ground today is much bigger than any one of us.
Our children are crying out for help while the parents continue to struggle day after day to make ends meet. 55M children in America today do not have Health care. Our bright future is absolutely at risk

We must come together as one, as democrates and elevate this country back to where it used to be. The stakes are too high to take a chance.

This is what they (republicans) want: they've intentionally released this VP selection to distract people from talking about the real deal, the future of a great country.

The Republican National Convention will not be half as good as DNC!!!

They're already paying folks to attend the RNC.
But no matter what they do, it will never never come close to what we all witnessed for the past 4 days.

DNC wasn't an ordinary event; it was a clear signal that blessing from God was totally involved. No need to raise up your blood pressure, God is in control.

This is nothing but a desperation move (this is simply done to pull Hillary Clinton's voters)

I am 100% with you, but at the same time we must be very careful. What Michelle has is priceless and it is called "inner beauty and undiluted intelligence" Unfortunately, as the first lady, your appearance counts the most.
Michelle's facial expression is not sweet or friendly enough and her appearance is not the best (but, this could also be part of their strategy).
Her facial expression reminds me of a pissed off black woman.

I'm sure that Obama's camp is well aware of this flaw and with time they will address it; in fact, I think it is already being addressed, but it must be done gradually, or else folks (haters) will notice the appearance modification and then negatively capitalize on it.

Make no mistake about it, Michelle Obama is a very beautiful and strong black woman; her only problem is: she isn't a politician and too damn real to be placed in the middle of the mess (presidential campaign)

Do you know about Politics at all? Yes, there is no denying the fact that IBBwas one of those that installed OBJ in 1999, but things fell apart before the end of OBJ's second term. OBJ wanted to run 2007 election under PDP's umbrella, but OBJ rather gave the ticket to Yar'adua. OBJ bluntly told him to step down or pursue his ambition in another party. IBB was disappointed, but knew only PDP could win him the election.

Please remove Mark from that list. He doesn't have any influence other than the official power vested on him as Senate President. Unknown Young Alhaji fought him to finish in his senatorial district and he almost lost his seat.

I've picked David Mark because he represents a bridge between multiple entities. He gets along with all the super stars.
