Recent media and social media reports on the responsibilities of the Chief of Staff to the President have suggested that the role has changed. This is not the case.

Today, under the Buhari II administration the role of Chief of Staff remains the same as it was under Buhari I.

It is worth stressing that the role and responsibilities of the Chief of Staff and the method of communication and arranging scheduling between Cabinet members and the President are, in Nigeria, based on the US model, where the same system operates - and has done for decades - in precisely the same way.

That role is to act as the head of the presidential administration at Aso Rock; to be an adviser to the President on any and all matters; to be the line manager for all staff at Aso Rock; and to manage appointments and scheduling for the President.

In the traditional presidential system, it is a primary function of a Chief of Staff, which may vary according to the needs and desires of each President, to supervise key State House Staff, control access to the office and the person of the President, manage communications and information flow and this includes that which binds the relationship with the two other arms of government.

During the President’s first term those were the responsibilities of the Chief of Staff, and they remain the same responsibilities today. There is no change.

When President Buhari explained to ministers that they would be expected to communicate with him and arrange scheduling to meet with him primarily via the Chief of Staff, he did so as many of the Buhari II Cabinet ministerial appointments are new appointments and cannot therefore be expected to know how matters of liaising with the President operate.

This is to stress that access to the President is open to ministers. It is not true that this is denied them in the Second Term.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) on the other hand is responsible for ensuring the effective coordination and monitoring of the implementation of government policies and programmes. All cabinet matters must go through him.

Under this dispensation, a performance evaluation of ministers and Permanent Secretary will be maintained by the SGF. Two weeks after assuming office, they are expected to sign mandate acceptance documents.

It is time to end the unnecessary controversy, for the key appointees of the President to carry out their jobs.

Authorities in Tanzania are considering publishing the identities of all married men on a website run by a state agency as part of efforts to curb cheating and protect young women from “unnecessary heartbreaks.”

Dar es Salaam regional commissioner, Paul Makonda, who disclosed this on Monday, August 12, said: “I have received a lot of complaints from young women. Many women from Dar es Salaam region have been deceived many times, and they have had enough.

“Men have been promising to marry them, then later, they ditch the ladies and this is something that is humiliating,” the regional commissioner said.

“These cunning men have left many women nursing heartbreaks and emotional bruises. You’ll find a young man successfully wooing a woman, making her leave every other thing that she does, hoping that the man will marry her, not knowing that he is, indeed, conning her.

“If you look at the laws that we have in the country, there is a clause that protects women, who were promised marriages, only to be used and dumped. We want to use that clause to bring sanity in relationships.”

If adopted, all married people would be required to register their marital statuses with the region’s database agency. Any woman who has been promised marriage can then access the database to find out if the man who has made that promise is already married or not.

In that database, all the marriages, including Christian, customary, Muslim, those filed at the registrar of marriages, will be registered, Makonda said.
“We want to reduce the cases of men conning women in the name of love and marriages.

“We are planning to meet the State agency in charge of the citizens’ database. Once that meeting is done, you, who lied to a woman that you will marry her, but ended up using and dumping her, be prepared, we are coming for you.”

I know someone that was denied 4 times, he hired a lawyer to put in for him for the 5th time and the home office refused him, base on no solid tie to his country, do you know, the law firm had to seek redress in court... You need a visa to go through the US.
There are no direct flights from Nigeria to Canada, I don't know about Accra.
Why not try the European(Klm,Lufthansa,Airfrance etc)
or Eastern Airlines(Etihad,Qatar etc) . Most of them(Asian airlines) don't go through America enroute to the Canada.

However, when using any airline, be careful of having 2 stops in Europe (for example Lagos to London to Dublin to Canada); if you are passing through 2 European countries enroute anywhere you will need a visa for the second coutry.

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has assured the safety of participants and visitors coming to Lagos State for the Under-20 Women’s World Cup in 2020, Igbere TV reports.

The governor gave the assurance on Wednesday when he received a delegation from the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) after Akwa Ibom was named as a potential host city for the competition.

President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, led FIFA officials on the visit to the Government house, Uyo, Igbere TV reports.

Igbere TV gathers that Mr. Emmanuel also solicited for Akwa Ibom to be given the right to host both the opening and the closing ceremonies when the mundial commences.

The governor noted that he was elated by the choice of Akwa Ibom as a host city of the sporting fiesta; a development that followed FIFA’s inspection of sporting facilities in the State.

He informed the visitors that the state has two teams currently in the national professional league and another in the female elite division.

He remarked that Uyo has a functional Airport and a good network of roads for easy air and road transportation.

The governor also intimated the Fifa delegation that apart from owning an airport, Akwa Ibom is the only state in the country that runs a commercially viable airline with a business model that allows visitors from outside to come in, transact business and return same day.

Besides, Emmanuel also assured that the state has good secondary, tertiary and quatenary medical facilities that can cater for all the teams and visitors expected in Uyo during the tournament.

In terms of security, the governor disclosed that Uyo will be the first city to have a safe city security system in Nigeria which is expected to be operational from the end of this year.

Earlier the President of the Nigeria Football federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick told the governor that they are in the state to inform him on the nomination of Uyo as one of the cities proposed for the under 20 Fifa women World cup tournament in 2020 in Nigeria.
