Abegi ....he's not a player for the big game! Check out his EPL record, he's always banging in goals when playing against low rated teams but when it comes to the top 5 teams, he's never been one to reckon with. Same I suspect here undecided

FootBallBlood:
Belgium are concerned on the extent of an ankle ligament injury Romelu Lukaku sustained in their win over Tunisia this evening and are set to make major changes for their final group game against England.

Romelu Lukaku was praised for both his finishing and his co-ordination during Belgium’s win over Tunisia today as he scored a twice as they thrashed the African side 5-2 in an encounter sends them to the knock-out.

It has now surfaced that Belgium’s star forward could miss the team’s final group game against England, which will see the two teams battle for first place if England beat Panama on Sunday.

Lukaku was forced off in the 59th minute having scored twice in a 5-2 victory which has guaranteed Belgium’s place in the last 16. Roberto Martínez said Eden Hazard and Dries Mertens were also hurt, picking up calf and ankle injuries respectively.

Belgium’s manger said Lukaku had damaged an “external ankle ligament”. Martínez added: (“It was a knock that he had late in the first half and he tried to play through it and he couldn’t. He’s going to be assessed and then we’ll find out a bit more in 48 hours.”)
Romelu Lukaku’s goals made him tally with Cristiano Ronaldo as joint leading scorers with four goals.

Michy Batshuayi, who replace him when Eden Hazard left on 68 minutes, looked sharp and got himself on the scoresheet to take the tally to 5 after the brace from both Lukaku and Hazard. He would have scored more but was misfiring in front of goal with many missed chances.

The Belgium Coach will try to rotate his squad for Thursday’s game in Kaliningrad against England. When quizzed whether he would change the team against England he said: (“The answer is very clear. If we could have seven days to prepare the game and then have seven days for the next game I would say carry on with the same starting XI. The reality now is that we are qualified and in a tournament like the World Cup you are only as good as the 23 players in your squad).

Romelu Lukaku who has scored 23 goals out of 20 appearances will try to get fit enough to face England.

Possible the kid was running around the house playfully while being chased by the nanny when he suddenly dashed out through the back door leading to the pool and unknowingly fell into the water. The nanny not knowing how to swim, ran out shouting for help and before one came, kid had drown undecided

People ought to learn that having a pool in the house is like having a loaded gun. Make sure you observe all safety measures at all times and have someone who can swim (maybe a security guard or house help) always around.

Sad but another possible accident waiting to happen is at the Lennox mall in Lekki. It was poorly designed with a void right in front of the staircase leading upstairs and protected by a plain glass and guard with no warning sign on the entrance or glass. A kid running upstairs may just run straight through it.... But what do I know undecided

Mzyouzee:
How did he get in the pool? Were there no adults to monitor him? For a child to have drowned in a pool, it means he was inside it for at least two minutes and somehow, no one was close enough to pull him out. Why?

These are the kinds of death that are investigated in certain parts of the world because there are signs of negligence. Nobody would care if it was your child, someone was careless and a life was lost in the process.

I'm both shocked and livid that a child so young, died because of an avoidable accident in his own home.

Gianluca Di Marzio, in quotes by Metro reported that the Santiago Bernabeu outfit have tabled an opening offer to try and sign the Belgian who has just 1 year left in his contract at Stamford Bridge.

There have been numerous speculations on Thibaut Courtois’ future at Chelsea as his current contract will expire at the end of next season.

The report also claims that Real Madrid have now turned their attention towards Roma goalkeeper Alisson, as they have had an official bid for Courtois rejected by Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Chelsea would want to get Courtois’ future at the club sorted out quickly, as he’ll have to leave on a free next summer if he refuses to renew his contract and Chelsea fail to sell him before then. The club are yet to make any signings.

Politics › Re: INEC Registering Foreigners From Niger To Vote In 2019 - Southern,m'belt Leaders by bigtt76(f): 11:11am On Jun 18, 2018
Well if Nigerians are not registering to vote, why not allow those who will do so tongue

stephanie11:
@POLITICSNGR

The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders' Forum has claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has embarked on illegal registration of foreigners, mostly from Niger Republic, in order to manipulate the outcome of the 2019 elections.

The Forum raised alarm via a communique issued to Journalists on Sunday, alleging that the foreigners could be the reason why the government was in a haste to construct a rail from Kano, through Dambatta, Kazaure, Daura, Mashi, Katsina, Jibia and terminate in Maradi in the Niger Republic.

The communiqué titled, “Our case against 2019 elections preparations” was signed by Yinka Odumakin (South-West); Senator Bassey Henshaw (South-South); Prof. Chigozie Ogbu (South-East) and Dr Isuwa Dogo ( Middle Belt).

They expressed concern over the 2019 elections and restated their lack of confidence in the INEC chairman “whose conduct over the scandal of underage voters in Kano has shown a gross betrayal of public trust.”

The communique read; “Equally worrisome is the intelligence report at our disposal that a large number of mercenary voters have been registered from neighbouring countries especially from Niger Republic under the continuous voter registration which could have been one of the reasons why the Federal Government is in a haste to construct a rail from Kano, through Dambatta, Kazaure, Daura, Mashi, Katsina, Jibia and terminate in Maradi, Niger Republic. Money has been appropriated for this in the 2018 budget.”

“Five clear months after the promise and prompt conclusion of the assignment by the team he set up, the INEC chairman has refused to release the report which would necessarily have necessitated a nationwide interrogation of the voter registry.

“Information at our disposal is that the report of the committee is so damning and that is the reason why he is doing a macabre dance on it. How on earth can we trust a man doing such over an issue of public knowledge to be fair on matters relating to free and fair elections that would not be in the public glare?

“We demand the immediate release of the INEC report on the Kano underage voter’s scandal and interrogation of the voter registry by a judicial commission with representatives from international and local elections observers to check cases of underage voters and foreign mercenaries before the 2019 elections. This is very necessary as INEC cannot be a judge in its own case.”

@embolden ....I thought one mobile money operator was claiming 8 million customers/users the other day grin ...story for another day.

Whether bank-led or telco-led, the truth is that Nigeria missed the party! Mobile money in Nigeria would have been impacted a lot of users if not for CBN's draconian policies. Mobile money actually originated out of the need to transfer funds quickly to the beneficiary at the remote end. At the onset of the GSM revolution in Nigeria, this was achieved through the sending of airtime recharge PINs to a beneficiary and the beneficiary 'redeems' the PIN less charges from mobile call centers .....that in a sense was mobile money but we killed it.

I still wonder which subscriber in Nigeria would be willing to save money on a telco's mobile money platform ....not with the way subscribers and telcos fight everyday over lost/missing/stolen airtime or data bundles or loss of signal, undelivered SMSes, fraudulent VAS deductions among many other issues. Interesting times ahead though undecided

BrandSpurNG:
About N1.32 trillion values of transactions were carried through cheque truncation in the first three months of the year.

Cheque truncation is the conversion of a physical cheque into a substitute electronic form for transmission to the paying bank. Cheque truncation reduces or eliminates the physical movement of cheques and reduces the time and cost of processing the cheque clearance system.

E-payment facts sheet from the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) showed that the N1.32 trillion values were processed from 2.48 million volumes of transactions.

Read: ATMS RECORD TRANSACTIONS WORTH N1.56BN IN Q1 – NBS

The statistics also revealed that on a daily basis, within the three months, there were 27,512 volumes of cheques with a mean value of N531, 838. The total volume of corporate cheques processed was put at 1.4 million with a value of N0.85 Trillion, while the volume of individual cheques processed was 0.55 million with a N0.21 Trillion value.

Meanwhile, through the Bank Verification Number (BVN), Nigerian banks have been able to link 45.1 million unique account owners. There are, however, 65 million active bank customers.

The total number of bank accounts in the country was put at 108.3 million, out of which 70 million are active. The statistics put the total number of current accounts at 24.2 million; saving accounts 81.1 million. There are 7.4 million corporate accounts and 99.3 million individual accounts.

In terms of web payment, there was 9.63 million volume of transactions valued at N60.74 billion from January to March.

Read: NIGERIAN BANKING SECTOR RECORDS TRANSACTIONS WORTH N32.48 TRILLION IN Q1, 2018 – NBS (INFOGRAPHICS)

Meanwhile, the total number of mobile money customers in Nigeria as of March 2018 stood at 1.50 million with 5,304 enrolled agents. The volume of transaction within this period was put at 15.25 million valued at N329.12 billion. There are 21licensed mobile money operators in the country and they are integrated to NIBSS for interoperability.

Unfortunately, after about five years of operation in Nigeria, mobile money has only been able to attract just one per cent penetration.

Unlike in Ghana and Kenya where penetrations have reached 40 per cent and 60 per cent respectively, only about two million of Nigeria’s estimated 198 million populations.

The implication of this is that despite the innovation that comes with it, Nigerians are yet to tap from the huge benefit it carries.

MMarketwatchers have argued that the model operated in Nigeria, which is bank-led, has not been able to impact the initiative in the country adequately. The Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Danbatta, at an interaction with journalists in Lagos, recently, lamented that mobile money is crawling at one per cent penetration in the country because it is bank-led.

According to him, another region, where the scheme is thriving has been because it was telco-led, “as such we need to re-direct our focus and ensure that appropriate model is adopted adequately.”

Danbatta said there should be effective cooperation among all the various stakeholders in the value chain that is the telecommunications operators, agents, CBN and the services providers too.

The NCC EVC revealed that discussions are on-going in the industry on how to get telcos to become super agents in the scheme of things.

“With the population, we have in the country, Nigeria should play big in the mobile money ecosystem in Africa. Only about one per cent that is about two million Nigerians is currently on the scheme. That is rather too poor. All hands must be on deck to revive that sub-sector of the economy.”

“If we are to improve on Nigeria’s digital landscape, we must revive the mobile ecosystem, which includes the mobile money scheme,” he stated.

When we were against his move to China, you claimed it was the best move for him ....now you are yen yen yen grin

1bunne4lif:
Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, on Saturday said the team’s 0-2 loss to Croatia in their opening match of Russia 2018 was due to “many mistakes’’.
Rohr, while speaking at the post-match conference of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Group D fixture, said he and his players were aware they made some important mistakes during the game.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the match played in Kaliningrad, the Eagles lost through an own goal by Oghenekaro Etebo and a Luka Modric penalty kick.
“We know we made some mistakes, too many important mistakes, and it is clear that we need to get better in order to move on,’’ the coach said.
He said the entire team was disappointed at the result, adding that they needed to work on being professional with the set-pieces.
“Our organisation was good, that is clear just as the tactics were not wrong, but we need to be more professional in the way we take the set-pieces. We need to be better before our next game,’’ he added.
Rohr, who admitted that the loss had made their task more herculean, said team captain Mikel Obi’s performance in the game was satisfactory just as he equally praised the defenders.
“Mikel has since I took over always been playing the way we deployed him today, and this has yielded results for us.
“But, he couldn’t have done better than he did today, because of the quality of those he was playing against.
“He had Ivan Rakitic of FC Barcelona and Luka Modric of Real Madrid playing against him, and they are of good quality and playing for clubs bigger than that of Mikel who plays in China.
“So, he really did well,’’ he said.
On the 62nd minute substitution of Alex Iwobi, the coach said it was not done out of poor performance by the Arsenal FC player.
“Iwobi deserved his starting place, based on his performances in the last few days. He only had big work to do with the full back, and this took much out of him.
“However, he did well and I don’t think he shouldn’t have started the game,’’ he said.
Rohr, however, assured that he and his assistants would go on to ensure the team was improved upon before their June 22 date with Iceland in Volgograd.
“We will improve because it is important for us. We have to get better in order to move forward,’’ he said. (NAN)
