There are few things that taste better than a well seasoned, whole baked fresh fish.
Chicken and beef are mundane; seafood, goat meat and bush meat, are where its at!!!

Another case of misinterpreting data
1. US population is over 300,000,000. Sample size is 3854 adults (about 0.001%). Essentialy the survey used each person surveyed to predict 70,000 others  shocked
2. No information was provided on how the people were selected to justify that they are a true representation of the populace
3. What is the fraction of those surveyed that were married? Divorce rate should be considered in the context of the marriage rate.

are you saying the social projects by FDR were a failure?
The social security act was passed as part of the new deal program and it has failed.
This is not to condemn the entire economic policy involved in the new deal though the relative success of the individual parts are open to debate.
Even so, the bulk of the policy in the new deal necessitated increased governmental control which are more readily associated with a socialist system.

There's nothing wrong with a safety net for unfortunate people. Social security is a nice scheme if implemented properly.
Empirical evidence shows otherwise. Unless you run a socialist system, the SS scheme is bound to fail in achieving its goals.

I know you like arguing in circles while begging the question and derailing the thread.

If you have sources you want other people to know about, then post them.

If you have nothing else to contribute besides what you posted, kindly move on to some other thread.

I guess you dont know the meaning of oral legends.
Had I observed that the earlier post was from you, I would have rightly ignored it, as I do not like an exchange with one who cannot be reasoned with.

I am aware of several scholarly articles of which I have no obligations to list for you (or anyone else). However, I will take your suggestions under advisement.

I am quite clear on the meaning of 'oral legends', though I doubt you know the difference between a myth and a legend, nor the relative relevance of references to either.

Were you married to the guy? (cos your choice of words hints otherwise)

The guy sounds irresponsible and personally I feel you should keep away from him. He seems to be on only about his own selfish interest and cares less about you or the baby. His behavior is not typical of Nigerian men, but rather of one that is selfish (and that has no cultural boundaries).
My advice is for you to keep him at arms length or farther.

if you know of any then post them.

You never heard of oral legends? huh
Firstly, I did not make any assertions on the origins of the yoruba's and thus do not have a version that I need to corroborate, rather it's people presenting their versions that need to corroborate it.
If you must know, even legends have sources (oral or written).

cos the structures are illegal (not necessarily the livelihood).
So what do u recommend? we leave all illegal structures and possibly build more?

Find (as shown below) the sum of the infinite series, with the nth term defined as n*r^(n-1).

1 + 2r + 3r^2 + 4r^3 + 5r^4 + 6r^5 + 7r^6 +  . . .   . . . . . . . . . . = ?

where |r|<1

1. Infinity
2. 0
3. 1/(1-r)
4. r/(r-1)
5. 1/(1-r)^2
6. (r^2)/(1-r)^2
7. 1/(1-r^2)
8. ln(1-r)

Notes:
^ is the exponentiation function, and |x| is the absolute value of x.

Hint:
1. The nth term in the series above, n*r^(n-1), can be obtained by differentiating the nth term of the geometric progression (GP) series, r^n i.e. d(r^n)/dr = n*r^(n-1)
2. Differentiation is a linear operation i.e. dx+dy=d(x+y)
3. The sum of a GP series with first term a=1, and ratio r is easily found.

**Please no guessing. Answers should be followed by a brief comment explaining the reason for the choice**
The answer is 1/(1-r)^2

From the infinite sum of the GP series with first term a=1, and ratio r , we have

1 + r + r^2 + r^3 + r^4 + r^5 + r^6 +  . . .   . . . . . . . . . . = 1/(1-r)

Differentiating both sides with respect to r, we have

1 + 2r + 3r^2 + 4r^3 + 5r^4 + 6r^5 + 7r^6 +  . . .   . . . . . . . . . . = d[1/(1-r)]/dr=1/(1-r)^2

FoodRe: My Garri Doesn't Swell :( by biina: 5:14am On Apr 20, 2009
How much garri swells depends on how much water it can imbibe, this in turn depends on the dryness and coarseness of the garri. The drier and/or finer the gaari, the more it swells.

You cant have a social security system without a running property tax and personal income tax systems.

This is a sham.

white elephant loot scheme for future welfare millionaire kings!

What we need to do is liberalize the property markets first and allow nigerians to build home equity. Then allow the state to collect the appropriate property taxes (our current system is a sham).

We need to bring the gray market to light so we can tax it.

Then we can think about redistribution.
I don't get what you think property and income taxes have to do with social security? How do you liberalize the unrestricted property market in Nigeria?
You sound just like others that feel the way to move Nigeria forward is by adopting all socio-economic practices of the US and/or UK

Unemployment benefits in Nigeria is the stupidest thing I have heard in a while. Why cant Nigerian think before trying to adopt every single practice of the developed countries.

The only thing I find wrong with the deportation was the failure of the immigration service to find him guilty of one or two charges and thus lodge him at kirikiri staff quarters for a few months before kicking his butt out.

what fashola is doing by destroying peoples houses and sheds is what buhari did in the 80's as part of aggressive modernization schemes and they didn't work, in fact, its because of that, that armed robbery started becoming an issue in Nigeria because if you take away somebody's house what else do you expect him to do?
We Nigerians cannot eat our cake and have it. If the structure was deemed illegal, irrespective of how long it has been there, it should be rightly demolished.
It is sad that the man has lost his livelihood, but that is no excuse to ignore his illegal structure, or for him to resort to armed robbery.
Unless he wasn't given sufficient notice, the government need not compensate him, and if they do, it is a favor and not his right.
He can relocate to another area in or outside Lagos and continue his livelihood.

Nigerians are so perplexing in their views at times. When we have idiots in office who do nothing, we complain, and when we have other who try to make positive moves, we complain yet again. It was this same attitude people put up during the buhari regime, that led to jubilation when IBB took over, and we all how it went after that.

A perfect date is you coming over late in the day, me cooking a light, full-course dinner, us taking an evening shower together, us watching a slow paced drama from the floor of my living room (while I try to put my sinful thots into words), and us rounding up the night finding new ways to burn the calories, while i explore the notion of getting you to speak in different tongues (outside the influence of the holy spirit). grin
