EducationRe: Which Kind Of Food Can One Take Before Exams by biina: 6:38am On Apr 14, 2009
1. Eat a moderate ( which is subjective) quantity, as you don't want to be uncomfortable in a sitting position and it might make you drowsy.
2. Do not be adventurous. Eat what you are familiar with so as to avoid any stomach discomforts
3. Eat a balanced meal of low glycemic index carbohydrates ( banana, most fruit and vegetables, grainy breads, pasta, beans, brown rice, milk, fish, eggs, meat, nuts, oils) approx 1 -2 hrs before the exam. The reduce their energy more slowly and thus give a steadier supply to your brain cells. Stay away from carbonated drinks before the exams, but are fine after the exam to quickly replenish lost energy.
4. Stay off stimulants like caffeine.
5. Rest properly prior to the exam

Hope it helps

A monk was walking in the monastery garden during a period of meditation. He encountered another monk, who was smoking as he walked slowly along the path.
"Did you get permission to smoke during mediation?" asked the first monk.
"Yes, I was given permission."
"But I asked if I could smoke during meditation and was turned down."

Question:- Why did the first monk turned down and the second monk permitted to smoke during meditation?
The first monk asked if he could smoke during meditation, while the second asked if he could meditate during smoking.
Both monks wanted to smoke and meditate simultaneously, but the phrasing differed in what was emphasized.
The example is often used to illustrate that the presentation affects the results, even when the facts are same.

It is a silly question and doesn't challenge one's thinking IMO.

what substance is produces from the human liver that reduces the acohol level in the blood? cheesy
Not sure if the question was properly phrased, as alcohol is removed from the body by metabolism at a constant rate.

My preferred answer is a group of six enzymes called alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), which catalyze the oxidation of ethanol to ethanal, during the process of alcohol metabolism.

Fructose has been shown to increase the rate of metabolism but it is not secreted in the liver.

Nairaland is no substitute to education
Go research how the communist party of China is run by Chairman Mao, its role in Government.
Come back and tell me how democratic China is.
FYI: I have no problem with a dictatorship that thinks strategically for the success of its people, put food on the table and earns the respect of the world.
So I take it that you are referring to the PRC.

Unfortunately, the career in office of Chairman Mao is of little relevance to your assertion that china IS under a dictatorship, as the fellow died in 1976 (over 30yrs ago). Unless you are saying his ghost is still in office, you clearly have no idea of what you are talking about (of course admitting the former would make you delusional).

I do agree with you that NL is no substitute for 'good' education, and thus I 'm unwilling to give you a brief lecture on the system of governance of  the PRC (and how it differs from a dictatorship) but would rather advise you visit relevant websites and/or a library, to find facts to back up your earlier wrongful statement.

Dude, I can be a stupid or crazy person but if there is something I'm not, it's ignorant. I love to acknowledge both sides before I voice my opinion. You said "homosexual rape" is a crime exclusive to gay community what about heterosexual rape? isn't that exclusive to the hetero community? The move should be against rape not against gay or straight people. Rape is rape when one party is forced into the game whether straight or gay. Rape is a sexual assault and I bet we have more of it in the straight community than in the gays have it in their community. Let's not be biased here.

Also, why can't a man be accused of raping his wife if the wife  doesn't want it and he forcefully did it? Married or not, you can't force your partner in to it. Just because she's married doesn't mean her freedom of choice is gone.

When I said this issue shouldn't be debated, it's because we have way more issues at hand in Nigeria than to sit down and talk about gay people or not. straight or gay people don't need any recognition or laws based on their sexual preferences. Gay people wanting recognition are just attracting worms to their side. Also when I mistook your comment for what it isn't I read it again and corrected the mistake. You don't have to use the word ignorant on me simply because I don't agree with you. Peace.
The homosexual rape was simply in response to your question that "what crime is exclusive to gays". In some countries rape is defined as forced sexual intercourse with the female being the victim and thus , does not cover several forms of sexual assault.

While you may feel that a man should be prosecuted for forced intercourse with his wife, the other side will argue it as spousal obligations. Irrespective, I only noted that Nigeria does not criminalize marital rape (as at 2003).

People should be free to debate whatever they want, and each should decide which issues are of higher importance to them.

For someone who seems to have an issue with being called ignorant, I advise you caution your use of the word (and its derivatives). For reference check your initial post.
Do unto others as thou have others do unto thee

That being said, I apologize if you felt offended.

irrelevant to the issue at hand

Some of the best brains in the country are from Ijebu land. Tai Solarin is an Ijebu man. Dr. Sunny Kuku, Chief Odutola, The late Sage: Obafemi Awolowo, who transfomed the lives of many in the then Western Region is from Ikenne.
Are all men and so I dont see what they have to do with your evaluation of Ijebu women.

Would you say that the widow of the late sage, Chief Mrs. H.I.D Awolowo, revered and respected worldwide turned his late husband to ''vegetables''?
Unless your in close relation to them, there is no evidence of the true order of things in the home

Professor Adebayo Adedeji, renowned economist, and UN official for Africa attended the same secondary school I went to: The greatest Ijebu-Ode Grammar School - Ijebu-Grams. The famous Mayflower School, Ikenne is in Ijebu land. Federal Govt. College Odogbolu, Federal Govt. Girls College Sagamu are all in Ijebu land, ''breeding'' responsible people of all ages who'd transform Nigerias landscape.
Are inconclusive as the schools are not exclusive to Ijebus, and not all Ijebus attend the listed schools.

I am from Delta state. But I respect the Ijebus. They are hardworking very intelligent people. Their women - from what I know, will make the best wife material any man would ever desire. Quit hating whole tribes because of some negative experience you had with one or two of them.  You'll never know if help, prosperity(indeed, all good things) will come from marrying into this group - when you choose to despise them.
A general conclusion was reached based on the experience of a single subject.

At no point did you actually provide specific evidence about the Ijebu women and their suitability as wives

The sweeping statement was the bold part of my quote of your earlier post. Your reference to 'their women' refers to all Ijebu women.

The OP made a sweeping statement that Ijebu girls are the best wife material (not just good) and sought other opinions. I merely stated my experience.
I am not saying that Ijebu women are all bad, but my experience tells me they are not the best. In fact no one is the best, as all one can use for an evaluation is the modicum of info that is available to you. People should be evaluated on an individual basis.

You are inaudible here. We are talking about Nigeria here dude and polygamy is legal and so is polyandry but rape isn't. You can't say rape with the breath you say polygamy or polyandry with. They are different terms one is a crime while the others are family types. The government shouldn't decide what I do with my life and who I sleep with or whose surname I choose to have. It's a private matter and gay people are human beings too so what they do as far as it doesn't stop you from eating or living the way you want shouldn't be your problem. If we ever want freedom, then people should be totally free to be all they want as long as anyone is not affected by their actions. Your ignorance led you to believe that being a homo means rape. If anyone is raped, the rapist deserve to be prosecuted but if nothing of such happened, people should be all they can.  How is Homosexual rape by definition? Dude or whatever you are, you need to give your brain a shake. Gay marriage is by consent of the two participating individuals.

Just open your mind and accept people for whatever it is they are. I don't have a problem with gay people but I do have problem with gay people hating straight people and vice versa. There should be no law for or against it as far as no crime or societal illness is exclusive to gay community. Peace
Another evidence of your ignorance.
At no point did I equate homosexuality to rape. The statement was "Homosexual rape (by definition) is a crime that is exclusive to homosexual" and simply meant that by the definition of 'Homosexual Rape' it is a crime that is exclusive to homosexuals. Homosexual rape is rape involving people of same gender (often male). Hence by definition you have to be an homosexual to commit it, and thus it is exclusive to homosexuals.

Statutory rape involves having sex with a minor, and even though the minor gave his/her consent, the laws deems such consent invalid as the person is not legally an adult. Thus you cannot go about having sex with any person you want even if it was consensual.
On the other hand, a man cannot be accused of raping his wife, if she has reached puberty.

The legality of polygamy(or more accurately polygyny and polyandry) is a function of under which law you are married. The customary law in Nigeria forbids bigamy, ergo polygyny and polyandry are statutory offenses.

Another example, under customary law in Nigeria, if you are under the age of 21, you cannot get married of your own consent, and will need a written consent (in order of preference) of your father, mother, or guardian.

The meaning of your statement that "people should be all they want as long as anyone is not affected" is always at the crux of the matter. Where do you draw the line?
Society sets the standards, and it is through debates, such as this, that people air their opinions of what they feel the standards should be.

If you can't comprehend my comment, simply ask what I meant by making it okay? Who you marry or who you have sex with doesn't concern the government at all.
I read your entire post, and unless you cannot express yourself effectively in english, what you meant is clear.

- The issue of gay marriages, is not about being gay, but rather should a gay couple be legally recognized to be equivalent to an heterosexual union.
- The existence of homosexuality and its societal acceptance are two different things. Depending on your religious believes, one can use the latter as a sign of the end times.
- Homosexual rape (by definition) is a crime that is exclusive to homosexual. Some have actually argued that the strides in societal acceptance for being gay, as led to an increase in the crime, particularly in prisons.
- Who you have sex with and/or are legally married to is the business of the government. Hence laws on statutory rape, bigamy, polygamy and polyandry.
- If you feel that debating the issue of gay marriages is stupid, then you should relocate to a totalitarian society and live in peace.

I still say that your earlier post reeks of ignorance. A simple advice for you: think before you type.

The reason why you cannot provide evidence of their objection is because there isn’t any. Listen clearly; same sex marriage is between two consenting adults, they are not harming anyone.  I really don’t see how you can compare them to the criminal act of paedophiles, necrophilia e.t.c
Again, you are eager to use societal definition when it suits you. The term adult is defined by the society.  That you feel that pedophiles are criminals is also a societal yardstick.  Necropilia are also not harming anyone.

Well are you 100% sure they weren’t born gay? I for one cannot prove whatsoever what ever how they were born, but since all of them say they were born that way, I agree it is the truth from their own point of view.Just because you don't believe it doesn't necessary mean it is not true.
I never said it was false, but your earlier argument was based on its veracity, which had no premise as you agreed to above.
Following your line of thought, I suppose barren people shouldn’t get the “tax deductions”
By the way what tax deductions are this people “reaping ” off from , isn’t tax deduction based on circumstances and status? So what tax deduction exactly are gay people reaping off?
If they become legally married, wouldn't their status then change?

Like I said earlier, you can be gay for all I care. This is not about sharing your life with whomever you desire. In fact, some religious institutions are willing to solemnize the union.

Rather it is about recognizing gay couples as being legally equivalent to heterosexual couples, hereby, being entitled to same provisions under the laws and statutes. This I disagree with as they differ in certain respects, particularly in the potential to procreate.

If they want legal recognition, let them define a new union for them (which exists in certain societies but the gay community wants more)  and let society accord them the concessions as they see fit, but don't try to get under the existing umbrella of marriage, which from the ruckus, most see as heterosexual in nature (their reasons being irrelevant).

China is not a model democracy but the Governor of people's bank of China is effective.
So China is under a dictatorial rule? while they may not be a model for 'your' democracy, they are not under a dictatorship, which existed for the better part of Nigeria's past.

Soludo is easily the best and most active CBN Governor Nigeria has ever had. Past CBN Governors were chosen from the pool of bank CEOs and the post was no more than the position of a CEO of a any other bank; in other words, it's regulatory role went not beyond on papers.
Soludo was brought from academics, and with experience in international financial consultancy, he changed the tradition. The era of bank CEOs seeing the CBN Guv as just one of them, thereby not taking serious his policies, was over.
Soludo was firmer. He came with fresh policies and implemented them to letter. He received death threats, yet he continued to do his job.
Soludo is one of teh finest Economist to have come out of this country. Let's not emphasize his academic credentials because that doesn't automatically  translate to good performance outside of academics, but the man showed he has a very deep understanding of global economy more than his predecessors.

That bank consolidation is enough to knock off any criticism of Soludo. I wonder where our banks would have been today under this global meltdown if that policy had not been implemented.

From the accusations against Soludo I have read in recent time, especially those that border on politics, I'm beginning to believe he's not as saintly as I used to believe before, but even at that, the man will leave the office as Nigeria's most visible, and indeed, best CBN Governor.

That at least is a challenge to whoever is going to succeed him.
How many of the prior CBN governors were under a democratic regime?
I don't see what the capitalization of a bank has to do with its survival under a global recession, or do you feel the likes of wachovia and city were under capitalized? I would rather look at its exposure.
Some seem to think that capitalization is a bullet proof vest for a bank.

What do you think I mean by consent? By consent I meant approval by the two people involved and until animals and dead corpses can talk and give consent your line of argument I insist is very ridiculous.
so you think all under age sexual relationships are forced. Not so my friend, but rather the society deems that the consent of the underage person is not valid, hence we have statutory rape. Also you seek consent from animals and corpses as evidence, when you cannot provide evidence of their objection. So still, who made the rules? Society.

I am trying to figure out how gay marriage equate to polyandry/polygamy marriages
Putting into consideration that gay people believe they had no choice whatsoever into how they are, they believe they were “born gay” to the personal choices of those that choose to marry more than one spouse
also seen as gay marriage is between two people not three, six , ten e.t.c
A preferential truth. How do you know that people are not gay by choice (the fact that they believe so is insignificant in evaluating its veracity)?, or that people that desire to be married to more than one person do so by choice?. Any body could believe in anything, but that does not make it true.

I hear this “infringement of right” argument thrown about a lot, please do tell how does a legal marriage approved by the state infringe yours?
In summary, if you don’t believe in gay marriage, don’t practice it but don’t try and deny those that practice it their personal right just because it contradict your own personal morals or religious beliefs.
I don’t see any legal justification for  gay marriage to be prohibited. We all have to deal with our morals our own way
It infringes on my right when people that are not contributing to the continuance of the societal existence (by bearing children), seek to reap benefits (e.g. tax deductions) which were aimed at the institution that does so.

2. Miracles occured in the bible, even wen the person in question does not have faith. Hence the miracle or blessing of getting rich is not always a function of faith.
Hence i am disappointed in people that claim that people who don't experience miracles don't have enough faith. One can have enough faith and yet not receive what we ask for because what we ask for is not what the Creator ( יהוה) wants for us.
Slightly OT
Faith is not binary, but rather of  a degree (Jesus quantified it when comparing it to a mustard seed). A better phrase would be 'of little faith'. When dealing with miracles and similar events, there is more at play. It involves the faith of target(s), the spiritual level of the doer, the task at hand, etc. The amount of faith someone has may also often depend on the situation.

Seems you missed the point.
Who defines an adult, is it not the majority in the society?
Who defines that an animal consents or objects to the act, after all non can communicate to an animal? Same can be said of a corpse.

For your argument of adult consent, maybe we should legally recognize polygamy and polyandry while we are at it?

The society defines what it deems acceptable hence you cannot say it's someone's right or freedom to behave as he deems fit. 'cos when your exercise of your freedom impinges on mine, we will have a problem.

I have no problem with you being gay (and no one should be persecuted for it) , and you can define your union to be whatever you want, but don't tell me that I must accommodate your aberration in my existing definitions, when the majority disapproves.  Accepting gay marriages is a slippery slope, as the aim is beyond just being with a loved one, but rather the legal entitlements that they feel comes with the status. I for one do not want a gay couple adopting kid's.

So what else do you want?if i support one's opinion or someone else's supports mine, does that mean that they share same id?i cant come on this forum to use 2 ids to buttress a point, what am i goig to gain by doing that?is there any money tag for whoever participate on this forum?please lets be mature in our dealings. To the extend you were also involving kunle, why? All of us are entitle to our opinions,i want to believe we are all matured people on this forum. Kunle make his point from the way he sees any topic and all of us does thesame. Pls i dont know any kenny .
First off, I did not accuse kunle or anyone else.

As per segyemaro and kenny888, if one looks around, there is enough evidence to strongly suggest that its the same person behind both id's. The fact that your accounts are still active is baffling in the least.
