European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by biina: 8:03pm On Jul 13, 2009
If there are no more signings for the summer and City get Adebayor, the likely order at the end of the season would be Chelsea, Liverpool, ManU, ManC and arsenal (5th).
The key problem for city last season was that they were pursing an European campaign with a thin squad (typical of most mid table teams).
This season, they have the depth they need, and will not be active in europe, so all of their effort would be towards a top 4 finish in the premiership.
Arsenal on the other hand would have weakened their forward line without strengthening their squad with quality players. Also they would still have to compete in europe.
ManU also has a weaker squad as compared to last season, and I doubt they can win the league with this 'transition' team but will have no problem finishing in the top 3
Liverpool and Chelsea are in the best positions to win the league, and between those two, I will put my money on Chelsea.

Citeh no good, but this is a possible line up soon

----------------------------Schmeichel-----------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
----Zabaleta ------Richards---------Dunne-----------Bridge------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------Barry--------------------------------
----------------SWP--------------------------Ireland-----------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------Tevez?--------------------------------------Robinho------------
-----------------------------Adebayor?----------------------------------

and they would still have subs like elano, kompany, Cruz, bellamy, Ben haim, Onuoha, Garrido, Petrov . . . . . . .
Add a better CB and they have a good chance of finishing in the top 4. They now have good depth which is what they lacked last season.

If they get Tevez and Adebayor, citeh would finish top four next season, and have a run at the title the following year.

Selling Ade is fine, as long as you bring in a quality striker, but it would really weaken your squad if your board just simply pocketed the money, like manU.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan Thread by biina: 4:28pm On Jul 13, 2009
I hope SAF is simply bluffing with his 'no more signings' statement else you could be heading for 2005/06 repeat where you finish bottom of your group.
Without reinforcements, it would be fun to watch if manU can still win the league.

How many idiots fought with you to sign Owen and Ruud when they joined Real Madrid
Tottenham and Fulham wanted Ruud. . . . . .Newcastle and Man City wanted Owen
memoryless as usual. Inter and Milan wanted Ruud, but he chose us. Owen wanted only Madrid even when he knew he would spend most of his time on the bench. and guess what, we didnt pay 37 milion for either player

We paid 20M for hunte, and there are several clubs showing interest in buying him for exactly that. No loss in value. The only stumbling block has been his preference for milan, who have Fabiano as their first choice.
If ManU buy hunte, his performance will send baba go-slow to the reserve team cheesy

Tottenham had the right evaluation of him, buying him for £10.9 million, only for manU to foolishly pay £30.75 million just after two seasons of him being average at best in the EPL.

Ligue 1 - Lyon sign £20m striker Lopez
Lyon have signed Argentina striker Lisandro Lopez from Porto on a five-year deal.
"Lisandro Lopez signed a five-year professional contract with Lyon today, after he passed a medical," a statement said.
The two sides had agreed a fee of 24 millions euros (£20.6 million), Lyon announced earlier this week.
The 26-year-old Argentine international, who scored six goals in 10 Champions League matches last season, helped Porto win the domestic league title from 2006 to 2009.
Lyon sold Karim Benzema to Real Madrid for an initial 35 million euros, rising to 41 million dependent on performances

Udinese confirm Real interest in D'Agostino
Serie A side Udinese have confirmed that Real Madrid are interested in signing Italian midfielder Gaetano D'Agostino.
The news will provide a boost to Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez, who has being trying to fend off the Spanish Primera Liga side's interest in Xabi Alonso.
Madrid admitted last week that Liverpool's asking price for the Spanish midfielder was too high and now appear to have switched their attention to 27-year-old Italian international D'Agostino.
Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo said: "I confirm that they (Real) are interested.
"My son was set to meet them yesterday but he was unable to so we postponed everything until next week.
"The buy-out clause of the player remains the same, €25m, but there's always room to reason. There are players they have that could interest us. It's an open negotiation."
D'Agostino has been a target of Juventus this summer but Udinese's asking price of €17m was not met by the Turin giants.
D'Agostino, who is under contract with the Friuli outfit until June 2014, would love to play at the Bernabeu stadium.
"It's the dream of any player to play at Real Madrid," said D'Agostino to Onda Cero. "They have a spectacular team.
"That is why I'm nervous and excited. I thank Real for their interest, I am happy, but there's nothing official just yet."

Why would Huntelaar degrade himself by playing for a country who, since your baba go-slow started playing, has failed to qualify for the world cup (twice) and could only qualify for 1 of 3 euro championship, in which they were knocked out in the first round undecided

Hunte is a better striker than your over priced, overrated, 1 goal in 3+ matches dud! Without Tevez and Ronaldo, his uselessness wil come to the fore. The guy should be no more than a bench warmer at a top club. It is only at United that he would dream of a starting berth.
Imagine, at 28yrs, when he is supposedly at his peak, he can only manage 9 goals in 29 starts and 3 sub league appearances, when huntelaar at 25yr, scores 8 goals in 13 starts and 7 subs. (almost what your dud scored in the entire season shocked) and thats after a mid-season transfer to la liga from the eredivisie.

You guys would have orgasms if hunte considers joining united for just 1 moment. cheesy

Going by recent seasons, you need at lest two stars to win a ring (ask cavs, magic, and pre-gasol lakers). Unfortunately, you need an existing star to attract another.
To get the first, you either get him in the draft, or pick up a hidden gem from a trade, but it is almost impossible to attract 2 superstars to a project team.
I think the bulls need to wait for Rose to mature to a superstar before trying to lure a complimentary star e.g. how miami complemented wade with shaq

How old is Rooney? How many caps has he copped? How old is Huntelaar? How many caps?
That should tell a dunderhead like you he is not rated.
How many caps you get depends on the quality of the competition in your national team. For a country that features the likes of Hesky, Own and Crouch, it is not surprising that wayne rooney has more caps, as compared to holland where ruud held the top striker position till 2006.

Have u eaten? Rolling on the floor at what age?
Look at this sissy. . . . .

We don't have a top striker. . . . .That was why Ronaldo was drafted to take that position cos he's a liability defensively on the wing.
Pay attention to details. . . . .Rooney, Berbatov and Tevez are roaming forwards.
Don't let Berba's shirt number deceive you.
I understand: the mistake of a tailor becomes an ingenous design. The failure of your strikers has now become your tactical genius.

U must be a goat.
Berbatov has won the best footballer in his country 5 times(tied with Stoichkov) and he is the first Bulgarian to win the EPL title.
It shows how rated this guy is.
In a country like bulgaria? you must be high on groundnut oil! In the land of the blind, a blind man is king. or are you drunk enough to try comparing that idiot to ballon d'or hristo - the perfect combination of arrogance and skill? angry

Why would his ass ache? He raped Iniesta the previous season and Iniesta got his revenge.
It is still tied.
Boke! Carrick has always been and will always be iniesta's bitch. Your team got raped in both legs and only won cos of a lone goal against the run of play. All manU did was play negative football, with barca dominating possession and aggression in both games

@ Camp Nou:
Possession: 73%:27% in favor of Barca shocked
Shots (on Goal)  20(6) v 7(1) in favor of Barca shocked
@old trafford
Time of Possession 62%:38% in favor of Barca shocked
Shots (on Goal)  14(3) v 8(2)  in favor of Barca shocked
Thed only thing manU did were commtting fouls and getting carded.

How many goals did Dennis Bergkamp score in his career?
It is not about goals for some players. . . . . .Some players are happy to provide the assists.
your inanity continues, how dare you compare baba go-slow to a great player like Dennis

Huntelaar is not an upgrade.
A player bought in January for 20 million and is about to be sold for 18 million just 6 months later is a dud striker!!!
It's not rocket science. . . . . .Berbatov is more accomplished.
That is simply because of the quality available at madrid. The guy scored 8 goals in 13 starts and 7 subs in la liga, after a mid-season transfer from the dutch league.
Thats the same amount of goals your useless player scored in the entire season shocked

Are we talking about a club that played in the UCL final TWICE in succession.
The same Man Utd that went 25 UCL games unbeaten(something no club in Europe has ever achieved)?
Biina, you carry a dynamite in your rectum and i pray it explodes this night. cheesy
There is more to a team than just the attack. You had a high scoring player in Ronaldo, who is no longer there to cover your arses when tottenham goes up by 2 goals.

Of course a player who has played fewer games like Huntelaar would have a high goal ratio at first but this would diminish as he racks more goals.
You are so daft i am sure you would put up an argument if Huntelaar had only one cap where he scored 3 goals to justify his prowess.
Let him play more than 40 games before we can take his nonsense record into consideration.
21 games is not enough.
then wait till hunte has 40+ games before making your silly comment, or wait till baba go-slow retires before comparing him to others.

None of em have the ball control qualities of Dimitar Berbatov.

If Baba go-slow was your support striker, who was your main guy? Van der saar? cheesy

He helped his team win the EPL.
Raul, Benzema and Higuain failed to win their domestic league. . . . .including Benzema in Lyon. grin grin grin grin
and they all won it twice the previous two seasons. They are each at the striker level that baba go-slow will never attain

How was he stripped naked by Iniesta? Didn't Carrick buttfuck the same Iniesta the previous season?
go and ask carrick, as his arse is still aching.

One striker in 5 Dutch league poachers? What a disgrace.
The Ruud you mentioned played for which club? Man Utd.
Man Utd is the only club Ruud coulda scored that many goals in succession. . . .The services of Giggs, Beckham, Ole and Scholes made him look like a superstar. Nobody reckoned with him in the national team. grin
that is why manU ignored his injury to buy him. There are different type of strikers, yet the common objective is to put the ball in the net. Baba go-slow failed in his primary function.
I am not making a case that all Dutch league strikers would be successful in EPL, but that Hunte is an upgrade on Baba go slow, not just based on his record in the dutch league but also his performance in la liga.

Berbatov didn't fail Man Utd.
He was on the same level with his strike partners.
Tevez was abysmal. . . . . .Rooney was on the same level with Berbatov and Ronaldo shaded it cos he takes the penalty kicks.
That is simply evidence of the abysmal quality and mediocrity of your club's front line tongue

Man City pull plug on Eto'o move
Manchester City have ended their interest in Barcelona's Cameroon international striker Samuel Eto'o.
The two clubs had been in talks over the £25m-rated striker after Barca told the 28-year-old Eto'o they were prepared to let him leave the Nou Camp.
City chief executive Garry Cook said: "The circumstances surrounding him were such that a deal couldn't be completed.
Eto'o is the second marquee player City have missed out on following Kaka's decision not to sign in January.
City reportedly made a bid in the region of £100m for the Brazilian midfielder, but he opted to stay with AC Milan, before joining Real Madrid in a £60m transfer in June.
Reports suggested the Eastlands club told Eto'o he could earn wages of up to £250,000 per week, which would have made him the highest-paid player in the world.
But the transfer became bogged down in a contractual dispute between Eto'o and Barcelona, who has been offered a new two-year contract by the Catalan club.
Eto'o cost Barcelona £16m when he signed from Mallorca in 2004 and the Cameroon forward has scored more than 100 goals in his five seasons with the club.
He helped the Catalan side win a treble trophy haul of the Spanish league title, domestic cup and Champions League in the 2008-2009 campaign.
City's summer spending so far has seen them sign striker Roque Santa Cruz from Blackburn for £18m and Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry for £12m.

No money for Barca!!!! grin grin grin grin grin
