The wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, on Monday told the presidential campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress that “she is a woman of peace that can never be identified with electoral violence.”

She said there was no way somebody like her who occupies the exalted office of the President of the African First Ladies Mission would be promoting violence under any guise.

Mrs. Jonathan who spoke with THE PUNCH through her media aide, Ayo Adewuyi, was reacting to the decision of the APC to report her to the International Criminal Court for allegedly asking supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party to stone anyone canvassing for change, the APC slogan, during a campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State.

Adewuyi said, “The only thing we can say from here is that Dame Patience Jonathan is a woman of peace that can never in any way be identified with violence before, during and after elections.

“You do not expect somebody who is the President of African First Ladies to be promoting violence.”

When asked whether the President’s wife would be ready to answer any inquiry from the ICC on the matter, Adewuyi simply said, “They are just notifying. The case is not yet in ICC. They are entitled to their opinions and actions. We are not going to be dragged into any argument with them.”

The Peoples Democratic Par­ty Presidential Campaign Or­ganisation (PDPPCO) yesterday ridiculed the All Progressives Con­gress (APC) over its flopped one-million-man-march in Lagos, saying the party and its controversial leader and godfather, Bola Ti­nubu have lost control of Lagos State.

Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode said that “the fact that what the APC boasted would be a one-million-man march could only attract about 10,000 persons is a reflec­tion of the pitiful state of delusion that they are suf­fering from.”

According to Fani-Kay­ode, “They have lost touch with reality and with the people of the state over whom they have maintained a wicked and ungodly eco­nomic and political stran­glehold for all of 16 years. But the people of Lagos have now seen through their deception and have decided to reject them at the polls this time round.

“The Lagos people have amply demonstrated their anger against the APC and its leader. Having watched the TV documentary, titled ““Unmasking the Real Ti­nubu,” which exposes the plundering and privatiza­tion of Lagos state by the sinking godfather and over­whelmed lion of Bourdil­lion, the Lagos people in their contempt will sink the APC and Tinubu with their votes in March.

“It is interesting to read ple at the flopped march to march for their freedom. I agree with him and the peo­ple will obey him by free­ing themselves on April 11 from the political and eco­nomic bondage into which Tinubu has put them since 1999.

“We had expected that Tinubu would use the oc­casion of the march and the speech making at the Teslim Balogun Stadium to address the people of Lagos on how he amassed his colossal wealth and mind-boggling property which were the subject of the TV documen­tary on him.”

Fani-Kayode dismissed the claim by the Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola on the occasion that Presi­dent Goodluck Jonathan has failed like the Biblical Jo­nah, to deliver God’s mes­sage as the propagation of falsehood and another flip.

According to him, “What does Rauf know about the Bible? President Jonathan has performed excellently. His transformation Agenda is a divine message with which our nation is being daily developed and the transformation is manifest in all sectors.

“This is in spite of des­perate efforts by the opposi­tion APC and Boko Haram which is the APC’s armed wing, to blight the achieve­ments of our presidential candidate, President Jona­than, with the abduction of Chibok girls, which took place in Borno State under the control of a chief secu­rity officer of the state who is an APC governor.

“We are all happy with the progress being made by the Federal Government through our Armed Forces who are overrunning the Boko Haram insurgents and restoring normalcy to some villages in the northeast that were hitherto captured.”

Responding to Lai Mo­hammed’s statement on the Chibok girls, Fani-Kayode said, “Whilst the majority of Nigerians are overjoyed by the fact that the President has given us hope by saying that the girls are still alive. Lai Mohammed and the APC are not happy.

“The truth is that they do not want those girls to be found and neither do they care about their welfare or their safety. We say this because this was a man, and a party that complained and protested at the fact that Boko Haram was pro­scribed by the Federal Gov­ernment last year.

“Lai Mohammed pro­claimed that the proscrip­tion was unjust and uncon­stitutional. We have always believed that Buhari, Lai Mohammed, Governor Shettima and the APC know far more about the where­abouts of the Chibok girls and the activities of Boko Haram that they have cared to admit.

“Let it be clearly un­derstood that if anything happens to those girls and if they are not produced soonest we will hold Lai Mohammed, Buhari and the APC responsible.”

Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPCO) says the All Progressives Congress (APC), its presidential candidate, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State and the party’s National Publicity Director, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, should be held responsible if the abducted Chibok girls are not found.

It tongue lashed the leadership of the APC over what it described as a flopped one-million-man-march organised in Lagos, saying only 10,000 persons attended the programme. According to the PDPPCO, the development was an indication that the APC and its National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, are no longer in control of Lagos State.

The campaign organisation was reacting to an APC statement, yesterday, which described as callous, morbid and insensitive the comments by President Goodluck Jonathan that the abducted girls are still alive hinged on the belief that Boko Haram had not displayed their bodies to prove their death.

In a statement by the Director, Media and Publicity of PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, it noted that the APC and its leaders were working against the recovery of the girls, saying that while many Nigerians were happy with the efforts of the military and Jonathan and the successes recorded so far, the opposition party was not happy.

Fani-Kayode said, “Whilst the majority of Nigerians are overjoyed by the fact that the President has given us hope by saying that the girls are still alive, Lai Mohammed and the APC are not happy.

“The truth is that they do not want those girls to be found and neither do they care about their welfare or their safety. We say this because this was a man, and a party that complained and protested at the fact that Boko Haram was proscribed by the Federal Government last year.

“Lai Mohammed proclaimed that the proscription was unjust and unconstitutional. We have always believed that Buhari, Lai Mohammed, Governor Shettima and the APC know far more about the whereabouts of the Chibok girls and the activities of Boko Haram than they have cared to admit.

“Let it be clearly understood that if anything happens to those girls and if they are not produced at the soonest, we will hold Lai Mohammed, Buhari and the APC responsible”.

‘Deeply offensive’
In its statement, the APC, yesterday, had described as callous, morbid and insensitive the comments by President Goodluck Jonathan, that the Chibok girls are still alive hinged on the belief that Boko Haram had not displayed their bodies to prove their death.

Publicity Secretary, Mohammed, the party   said   it found the “comment deeply offensive to human sensibilities rather than providing hope and succour for the traumatised parents of the girls”.

It said a key role of Presidents everywhere in times of tribulations and tragedies is to offer hope and be the consoler-in-chief, not to make statements that will deepen the suffering and sorrow of victims.

APC said one would have expected a President to speak on the basis of actionable intelligence, not some twisted, melancholic and offensive logic.

The party said the statement “played on the fears of the parents of the girls and indeed of all Nigerians concerning the fate of the girls, who have now been held in captivity for over 300 days, with an impotent government unable to rescue them”.

It said “all that the parents of the girls as well as all concerned people around the world want to know is what the Jonathan administration is doing to bring the girls home safely   and as soon as possible, not a depressing statement about their bodies being displayed via a video by Shekau if they had been killed”

But how could a president hinge his belief that the girls are still alive on the fact that "their bodies have yet to be displayed by Boko Haram"??

Whatever happened to intelligence gathering using moles and superior technology like drones and electronically eavesdropping on their conversations ??

Is the president telling us that he'd believe the girls are dead if Boko Haram happens to kill an equivalent number of some random boys and girls, dress them all up like girls, take pictures of them and flood the internet with such pictures

If I am a politician who has stolen so much money and I know buhari will be a problem, I can simply just steal much much more then if buhari wins, I will relocate to a better country and enjoy my life. Report kooor, report ni....with the people surrounding buhari? They should tell us something else. Amaechi is still owing more than 15000 ex corpers N110,000 each since june 2013!!!!! Buhari should start there for now by advicing his colleague, Rotimi amaechi to shun corruption and pay these people their money!!!
