Whenever you reboot or switch on / off airplane mode or switch Internet sim, the phone automatically reverts back to the default 2g/3g/lte setting, of which these networks with the strongest reception is given a higher priority.

If you were referring to the non-internet sim that's automatically set to 3G, that is a bug. But unfortunately it was not corrected in the latest update.

Actually it's not a bug. Some countries are now doing away with 2g network signal. So they have only 3g upwards. If they Made the 2nd SIM to default to 2g, those countries will not be able to use the second SIM. That's the reason for the change.

ABMC:

No APN settings available for the SIM 2 slot. I guess it's from the software.

It's because you've made your default internet to sim 1, that's why you so not have Apn setting for sim 2.

Once you change your internet to SIM 2, Apn setting will appear on SIM 2

How did you open the account? From the bank or from social media/sms?

There's this annoying bug I have noticed on my RN3SE.

You launch an app, the app needs a permission, so you get a pop up asking if you should allow or deny. The frustratingly thing is that you can't choose 'allow' only deny responds.

I have to manually go to miui security app to set permissions each time.

Anyone noticed this big? How did you solve it?

This is the like the 3rd time I'm seeing this 'suspected to be Indian hemp'

really don't know why, but it sounds funny to me.

It's like you taking a pack of cigarettes from a kid and saying you recovered a pack from him suspected to be a pack of cigarettes. It just sounds funny grin

There must be something you are not getting right. I've not come across a device that supports ntel's band 3 or/and 8 that didn't work, same with Smile's band 20.

So I thought, until google revealed to me in not alone and it's a common issue grin

dustmalik:

Hope your APN is correct? If not, it will not work. Smile APN is internet. By the way, Smile and ntel are both '4G Only' networks, they don't support any other network type. So you will need to dial *#*#4636#*#* then enter Phone information, scroll down and select 'LTE Only'.

Trust me, I've tried all this. I almost ran mad, I just have up

Anyone succesfully used a data only sim like ntel, smile etc on redmi note 3 special edition?

I have not been able to get the phone to work with smile sim and a friend ntel sim, even though it supports the band and there's network coverage in my area

Keep showing no network

My account is almost 4years+ old and still had to appeal with my own personal card. You were just lucky that's all.

Maybe it also depends on how frequent you have been purchasing from aliexpress apart from your account being old.

If your account is 5 years and you've purchased just 1 item, it's not as good as an account that 3 years and has purchased items from 20 different sellers within that time span

I think the idea of stocking first shooters is becoming obsolete. It is like looking for a first class gradute when lower credit can perform the same task.
Firstly it is difficult to see 1500 shooters in 10,000 hatched fries. And the moment the shooters are isolated the competition begins leading to disparities in sizes.
You can turned an average fingerlings into monster wthing aaceptable time with the following method provided the brood are of good quality
1. Buy young fingerlings that is between 3weeks to 6week after hatching
2. Feed with stater feed regardless what they are picking before you bought them 0.8mm to 1.5mm correct so many deficiency in fingerlings.
4. Feed more than twice daily to bootst their eating habit
5. Ensure you buy similar size and sort to ensure even sizes
6. Rear them for at least 2weeks in nursery pond before transfer to growing pond

This simple strategy would transform average fish to perform like shooters.

Similarly, local feed with good frmula will give you what top feed would give with less cost. And rearing shooters for 6month ....that seem to be too long period

You couldn't have said it any better. My exact sentiments

For those of us who like to keep things simple, not a fan of miui big icons and are not crazy about too much of customisation, I would recommend Microsoft's arrow launcher.

Simplicity and productivity at its best wink

Also improves battery life compared to miui launcher

What purpose will two xender app serve?

Sometimes it may be useful for other apps.

I use it to manage 2 apps from the same bank on my phone, which I wouldn't be able to do without the dual apps cos banks usually lock their app to a device.

Heard they are some problems users experience with 8.1 like fingerprint and network..
What has been ur experience so far?

No problem with fingerprint.
No problem with network here. Mtn still on 4g full bars.

The only thing I noticed is that sim 2 that I'm not using for browsing now stays constantly on 3g instead of edge. So I have sim 1 on 4g and sim 2 on 3g, I wonder why they changed it.

Where did you get this update......OTA?

From the phone grin, yeah OTA size about 1.3gb

If your phone is telling you no update available, just change your location to another country Eg India, you search for update again and download. Change back location to Nigeria before rebooting.

But you can download from miui site too

Thank you.

updated my RN3SE to 8.1.1.0

Haven't noticed any unusual battery drain. Still using up 10% battery per hour.

I think a lot depends on how you updated.

What I did.. .

Made sure my battery was fully charged.. I used ampere app to confirm full charge cos when miui says full, Battery is not actually full.

Then I leave the charger plugged all through the update process.

After update, I restart the phone several times, like 4 times before I start using it.

Then finally I unplug the charger to stop charging the phone.

I think this helps in battery calibration.

Noticed something on my Etisalat line..

I was on 3G only and upon a sudden the data network just cease, while it was on, the connection speed slow die..

But the moment i switch to 4G lte, data network not only came bak, the connection speed just begin fly..

Wonder what the problem is with 3G these days..

I think they have reduced the bandwidth allocated for 3g to free up bandwidth for 4g.

Even mtn 3g is nothing to write home about now since 4g came out.

ERM, how can you be on 60% and the battery used by the screen is 58%. This maths no add up ooo.

Battery usage is sorted into 2 categories.. .hardware and apps.

The 58% is for the screen usage out of the overall hardware usage of battery.

Example.. ..

I have used 10% of battery, so my battery indicator shows 90% remaining.

Out of the 10% battery used,, apps used 40% of it, while hardware used 60%. So it's possible that out of the 60% used by hardware, screen took 58% while the rest of the hardware took 2%.

Guys, I really don't understand what is happening o.

I was on 8.0.5.0 on my redmi note 3 se. Got an update of 1.2gb yesterday. The update had no description whatsoever which was unusual.

So I went ahead and did the ota update. I was guessing it'll probably take me to 8.1.1.1

To my greatest surprise, after the update, I was still on 8.0.5.0, I was like.. .what da f**k shocked after using 1.2gb data.

The only consolation for me is that battery life has improved tremendously. I now get 1hr SOt for every 10% battery used. Currently my battery is on 60% and I have SOT of 4hrs on 4g network

Yes, it does...I have been using several phones including Android,Windows Phone, and an iPad....all have excellent network except my beloved RN3P SE

What's your current rom version?

I'm on 8.0.5.0 and I set mine to LTE preferred and my mtn signal is always on 4g 24/7 except when I'm making calls that it switches to H+ , compared to my previous phone that was hard getting 4g signal.

My experience is totally different from yours. What network are you using

I don't like it.
I prefer stock Android Kit Kat or lollipop recent app tray to this

Unfortunately I don't think there's anything you can do about the recent app tray

but You can pinch/zoom out the recent app screen to change it to icons. I find that bit easier on the eyes

Wow superb! kindly state the phone model.
But you are always on WiFi, don't you think that might have also impacted positively on your battery life?

I'm guessing it's one of the redmi 4 series, processor is very power efficient.

Yes, Wi-Fi gives better battery life than mobile data.

I hate touch Wiz. I prefer miui overall
