Roland17:Yeah, there is probably an emotional component . But that is generally true for most players we like or hate - its a little more than the stats. Still, I think someone with his skillset, who can essentially play point forward and almost triple double on a regular basis will always be in the mix in the west.Like you said, the west is faster paced and you have to produce 100ish point per night against top teams. But almost every team in the west has side kicks that can produce points. So if LBJ was in the west, I think this would be a non issue. Likewise, If Curry alone went to the east, I believe his production would struggle. The pace is different, and on any eastern team, it would be easier to check him. |
Donlittle:LBJ is now a ball hog? The same guy you keep wishing would assert himself and take the last shot? The same guy averaging PG assists. The same guy that gets all the way to the rim, and will then pass for an open 3 instead of taking a floater? Bosh own 2 rings with LBJ's game. An old dwade 2 more. I think they came out just fine. Second, you cant compare the warriors with the cavs by mentioning klay thompson. The warriors are playing what looks like a princeton offense the Kings used to play when chris webber was at his peak, albeit the warriors have a much better 3pt shooting PG than Bibby was for the kings. So you cant make an individual player comparison. On the Warriors, the center should be in double figures due to the free flowing offense and small ball. On the Cavs, Mozgov for example is a traditional center and will not average more than 10 points. Love will also have to adjust to a more traditional PF role, his points will come down but his rebounds and putbacks should stay the same. |
Donlittle:LBJ. Unselfishness, not just in the game, but in the community. |
Decale:Of course he will still make playoffs. If you meant wiill he make it to WCF? Again I would say yes. Would he win the WCF to get to the finals, that is not a sure bet. But this is true of any other team in the league. You say stars around Lebron are averaging less because of him. But as I remember, Bosh won two rings because of LBJ. If you ask Bosh which he wants 30ppg 10 reb for 4 seasons or 2 rings and 4 finals in 4 seasons, which do you think he will take? |
panafrican:are you well? you are defending n korea |
Roland17:Which curry? 2 simple questions for yall. If I place Curry or Lebron on the worst teams in the NBA 1. whose team will improve more? 2. whose individual stats will not take a hit ehen! so you see why LBJ is king indeed ![]() |
SIRcumalot:that raptors dude is a g for sure. Amazing story |
kliq:Yeah, he has that body language. Unfortunately, he is very willing to help - it just really isnt his strength. Being simple minded can be a good thing, but boy, in Hakeem's case I think it bordered on .Even when he was playing, he never really exerted any influence. Look at how Kenny the jet Smith, a lesser player on the same team has way more business and social currency in htown. I remember shortly after retiring, Hakeem just disappeared to Saudi for like 2 years lol! I will always appreciate Hakeem being a stand-up character, but lawd, I can only imagine the people, especially Nigerians he could have pulled up while he had the opportunity to. |
what do yall think about this vid. I saw it on another nland thread - basically interviewing Hakeem and asking why he hasnt contributed back. From back in the day when Hakeem was still prominent in Houston (he is spotlight shy and pretty much dissappeared after retiring), I had certain views about Hakeem, especially his interaction with the Nigerian community. I'll keep em for now - I just wonder if anyone else can decode his body language here. Is he making sense? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-X8fnKSCUs#t=124 |
A40:I will live with getting to the finals. Anything can happen there. With Blatt's rotations, the Bulls had a really good chance beating the Cavs in the ECF - Gasol is playing like in the early days with Lakers and Rose is starting to blow by people again. If Lue has different rotations like I think he will, I like Cavs chances. Yeah, I dont like the fact that they chose Lebron's childhood friend as the coach even tho I like Lue as a player. But if Lue gets out of the east, he will probably live to see another season. ...And anything can happen in the finals. |
joephemzyz:ahhh, even Gasol wey I drop dey flog me. there is God in everything we are doing |
who is foolish enough to act as surety. If Metuh escapes the country, na to cry be dat now ![]() |
A40:They have come again oooo. The only people that thought this was a bizzare sack are people that loved seeing LBJ lose to start with. Anyone could see where this season was going - Cavs win the ECF and get flogged in the finals. All these sudden crocodile tears for Blatt when we know folks were waiting to see another finals loss. After that stupid play Blatt drew in game 4 of the finals, I knew this guy was out of his league. And so did the players. Something Cav/LBJ haters need to know. Blatt is a rookie coach in the NBA. And superstars in the NBA have some input into what happens on the team. Nothing about Blatt's rotations inspired confidence. Deal with it. If you didnt have a problem with it when Kobe's ego was running amok in lala land, you need to hold your nose right now. Anyhow ima dust off all that haterade now. This team will be in the finals barring injuries. Lue! throway salute! |
SIRcumalot:Yeah it doesnt look good. I think its why they canned Blatt now - give Lue a chance to prove this is his job. If not, get an experienced coach off-season. If this team gels, they have the pieces to make the finals and make some noise. But the bench is still suspect and coach is untested and they will probably lose. Still, I have a little ray of hope based on what I just saw from first two halfs against bulls today. I have seen LBJ passing to Love in the post, and I've seen Mozgov attempt a jumpshot from the top of the key. I know cavs are playing extra hard for the new coach and this new enthusiasm will soon wear off, but i am very intrigued to see how Lue will stack this team up. |
i am hoping oil hits $20 a barrel and does not go up for the next 2 years. It is obvious that the changes we need to make will only happen when we are uncomfortable. If the only 2 things that come out of this presidency is diversification and killing corruption, I will take it any day |
arresa:you quoted it before me, but boy, it is worth quoting again! Is it cheaper to drive on a road free of toll, and spend 5 hours for a 1 (one) hour journey? If you calculate the fuel burnt in 5 hours of standstill traffic and the stress, you will see that the toll free is not free. |
Donlittle:Did you just compare Israel to the NBA? And you skipped over spain, argentina, germany even greece. Ok, I will leave that one to you .Why is it that when the Cavs, who are on top in the east play well coached western teams they lose badly. Yet lesser teams play those well coached teams and the game is close. Here is the truth: Blatt cant coach the NBA. He knows his X's and O's but the speed of the game and physicality of the NBA always confuses foreign players and coaches. The games cavs won, it was mainly a Lebron one man show. And that always gets exposed against good coaches. If you give Blatt another 3-4 years, I am sure he will become a good coach, just like Gasol and Nowitzki became good players. but who has 4 years? Tyron Lue reminds me of Avery Johnson. Both were PGs that had to rely more on IQ to make up for their height/strength. Avery coached a crappy mavs team to beat the spurs in the west - I am excited to see if Lue has the same kind of insight. |
SIRcumalot:looks like coach blatt is out! Seems someone at head office agrees. The way the warriors won that game, it was all coaching imo. They consistently fastbreak you so your defense is never set, and will relinquish the offensive rebound in favor of getting back on defense and setting up. which is why they kept scoring easily, and on every play, and the cavs had to manufacture shots. To me this is fundamentally a coaching problem. I now really understand what mark jackson was saying about Curry and fundamentals. All those flash, off balance 3s curry keeps making deceives a casual watcher into thinking the Warrior are flashy, up tempo team. This team is coached as well as the spurs are. Lets see in tyron lue can do anything to this team in the next 3 months |
computer science - you can take IT certifications in parallel. Even if you did IT, you still need to produce your CCNA etc. With comp sci, you can do ccna etc if you need to. Moving from comp sci to IT is easy (anyone can move to IT). Moving in the other direction is hard |
SIRcumalot:The heat have a different culture. You could not half-ass a game with Pat Riley as the GM watching you. And yes, Bosh did things that made that team go. Ultimately though , its on the coach. He appears to be clueless about NBA defense. Maybe he could hire Thiboudeau or something. Also, his offensive sets are anemic - Kyrie is scoring on isolation plays. ditto for Lebron and KLove - I rarely see them score easy buckets. I'd toss this season down the trash can, fire the coach and start new next season lol |
Roland17:I have been impressed by the celtics energy every time I watch them play - back-to-back-to-back-to-back steals against pacers was mindboggling.. Still though, is this a playoff team this year? As in can go deep in the playoffs. It looks like it may be all for nought |

subscribing. I am genuinely curious as to what your gripe is |
Abeg leave kliq alone lol. In other Laker news, Kobe tells team mate to stop playing like a light skinned dude ![]() http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/jordan-clarkson-kobe-bryant-light-skinned-dude_568a7e0fe4b06fa68882c947 |
Its ok to judge. While you are judging, keep the following in mind Matthew 7:2 - in the same way you judge others, you will be judged. and the standard you use in judging shall be used for you. James 3:1 - not all of you should aspire to be teachers, knowing we will be judged more strictly. Based on the above, I think a wise man/woman keeps their mouth shut more often than not. And if you will be honest, most of the time your "judgement" isnt edifying anyone. Its just stirring strife and dissension. Even Paul knew when to live and let live - phil 1:15 - "it is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry...but what does it matter? the important thing is that christ is preached". And Jesus chose a day to confront money changers even though he must have been seeing them all along. Truth be told, behind a lot of so called judgements is pride |
Donlittle:He landed in LA against his will. So it looked like he just wanted out. And it is hard to ignore his physical size and agility at center . Dude ought to be a stronger version of Hakeem by now. DH will always find a team to take him - the possibilities of a center that big, strong and fast is too tantalizing to pass up. |
kliq:ehen? ![]() |
IyaIode:why would anyone want to kill this thread . it appears i am not on nairaland enough these days, and must be missing some happenings. |
