joephemzyz: Let's see Whatya got bruh..."hold nothin back" ----- u dey vex ooo 9-1...damage control is needed So raptors won the game @ the death against wall and his goons
chisos . no be me do you o bros. that 9-1 is looking permanent.
Roland17: Considering the Warriors are 16/0, have set the NBA record for best start and are playing some cohesive basketball (yes I have already included the game against the lackluster Lakers) playing under Luke Walton the assistant to Steve Kerr, is it safe to assume Kerr is disposable? especially if his health does not improve..
Can the Warriors repeat without Kerr, strictly with regards to inputs from Coach Kerr..
I thought their offense would struggle with Alvin Gentry gone... to be honest it looked like his system more than Kerr. But here they are 16-0, likely 20-0 based on their schedule. I have to think the season is still early... as December rolls by and we start looking at the all star break, things will get more competitive. They have a relatively easy schedule so far, so I expect them to take a few hits along the way. They will definitely need Kerr's x's and o's for some games. I am looking forward to christmas day with the cavs
interloper: My siblings and I went to ADRA0 International School back then, I still have fond memories of Ms. Abimbola Da Rocha Omololu, Ms Ajisafe and Ms. Smith . . . .they certainly helped in molding us in those formative years back in VI, bet they are all late now cos at that time they were nearly senior citizens and for me? i will mark them down as arguable the best educationist/teachers of that era and also the crews at Corona School.
It might interest you to know ADRAO International School was/is (till today) still sandwiched between NTA and the Nigeria Minting Corporation (donkey years have being out there), those were really exciting times in Nigeria (NTA boarded us to the right and the Mint was to the right) Being neighbours with this organisation had is own perks then, we had unfettred access to all the stars on the set of Village Headmasters when they came in for filming, Uncle Dejumo Lewis (Oloja of Oja) continue to RIP was a v big hit among we the kids, we could mime his signature laughter all day long hehehehehehe . . . . . and he always had a smile and kind words for us all.
I also remember Uncle Funsho Adeolu (Eleyinmi), Justice Esiri, Sisi Clara, Amebo and co, they were v courteous, professional, fatherly/motherly and approachable any time. . . . .those were indeed a beautiful time in Nigeria if you ask me! . . . . . I still don't know how we dropped the ball.Anyway how could I forget the cast of Adio's Family, Second Chance and the rest of them . . . . .everybody most come to NTA then, the hydre headed broadcasting station of that period so even if you were doing Cock Crow At Dawn in Jos, at some stage you would had to come to the HQ in Lagos.
memories! this gave me chills. I wonder if Corona still exists today. As for dropping the ball, I seem to remember about the time SAP really started to kick in, a lot of these things just died off, slowly at first. There was no internet back then(many phones were still rotary even), so for the Nigerian on the street, we just knew quality of everything was degrading but there was no one who could put a definite finger on it.
OLAADEGBU: If Ben Carson becomes president I believe America will get mercy from God from the impending judgment.
but you are not american . thanks for sidestepping the real issue. I was hoping you had some brains that had not been fried by Chick Publications left, but noooo, its all gone. Have fun with my parting gift...Carson talking about dogs and rabid dogs
Roland17: Everyone is distracted from the main problem here and that is the Clippers team, I am not exactly sure last night should be about the come back by the Warriors but the lack of discipline by the Clippers which has been a recurring issue..
I have always made my opinion obvious about the Clippers since the assembly ( the trade for CP3, to join DJ and Griffin) and they only buttressed my opinion that they are just a bunch of lazy over-paid players basking in the euphoria of "Show time LA".
I dare anyone to put the blame on Doc Rivers, several sound off were played where he was screaming his lungs out on defending the pick and roll or contesting shots and not wait for after shot rebounds.
Harrison Barnes and D. Green started the come back with consecutive three's and I told my pal the Clippers were losing that game, they went from moving the ball to ISO basketball, trying to match the Warriors jump shooting, once a game transitions into a duel of who makes more jump shots especially from "downtown" no team in the league would defeat the Warriors.
joephemzyz: Brandon knight's been on fire.......who else is seeing this. I think GSW are in beastmode and they can't be stopped until they decide they wanna stop winning . Celtics be balling. Of late . Chicago bulls look so confusing when they matchup against marquee teams. PG is back n bouncing . ...btw, where is Mr. Richard
bball is first a mind game. the warriors are winning right now because they are in the "God" game mode. It happens. The problem with streaks is, you start making mistakes but loose defensive rotations dont hurt you, bad shots go in, etc..but you dont notice because you are on a roll. When it ends, eventually, you realize you have lost some of your fundamentals and try to get them back. See my Rockets 22 game win streak with TMac/Yao, or the Lakers with Shaq,Kobe,Payton,Malone for reference
OLAADEGBU: If you are looking for tyrant Presidents then don't look further than Obama who has not deemed it fit to visit Nigeria neither has he obliged for our cries for Ammunition to attack the terrorists. He will rather arm mercenaries who fight for ISIS to fight his war by proxy.
OLAADEGBU: Put yourself in his shoes. Would you have welcome neighbouring countries infected with the communicable disease into your country?
Yes, if the country can meet world health standard for screening to ensure people boarding the planes are disease free. Remember, we had a total of 4 or so cases in a country of 150million plus. And the swiftness with which we tracked down ebola cases was unmatched, even by the US. I bring up this video to make a point. guy like this gets into power, and he will not hesitate to take draconian measures against African countries. Put on your thinking cap for once!
Are those the PGS you could come up with? The same Patrick he played last week? The CP3 Steph made to sit? The Mike Conley he limited to 10pts last night? The only viable player you mentioned was Westbrook being he's more athletic
Well, let me tell you why he's going to make it minus Iguodala or Green. 1) Check his stats last season to the first 4 games this season. He has more +pts when he's on court than any other player on the roaster and without playing most 4th quarters, leaving it to Iguodala and the bench to finish up
2) Other players step up without Green or Iguodala. That's why they're the warriors. When Thompson was missing last finals, Iguodala did. Festus Ezeli even brought his game on Green's off day. The question is who steps up for Curry?
He's even better this season than ever. Thompson and Iguodala has done little to nothing to contribute, just Green.
Throw Iguodala or Green or both, they won't win the championship but definitely will get to the post season
Ezeli and co had their moments, but that is not the reason they have a 'ship. Role players on the cavaliers had bigger moments and they still went home empty handed. Ultimately, it came down to Curry's ability to knock down the 3s
So we arent even in December yet. Most teams are still trying to settle rotations - no one is breaking sweat on 3 pointers right now. Lets see how those matchups look come December, January
A40: I like OKC but they just don't play enough defence and it could be fatal in the playoffs
Steph Curry looks better than last year and if Draymond Green and Klay Thompson continue being two-way forces its hard to rule out a repeat. They have climbed the mountain, remained intact and possess the best chemistry. Its easier to win back to backs in the NBA than any other american sport
Warriors had no injuries to major players going into the playoffs, and got help even from perennially injured players like Bogut and Lee. If anyone in the top 8, even Iggy or Green goes down, I dont see them even getting out of the West. Why? Curry can, and will be stopped for 2 reasons.
1. They managed to go thru the west last year without Curry encountering any of the pesky point guards ala the annoying Patrick Beverly for the rockets, Westbrook who makes the opposing PG feel his presence, or the crafty CP3 that reads players and consistently steals the ball. Even Mike Conley, a much slower PG caused Curry to have to reset his game in Round 2.
2. Curry is an amazing 3 point shooter, but when you do run the percentages, those off balance, quick pop-off 3 pointers are lower percentage for Curry. This is not surrising, but couple this fact with having one starter injured, and the game gets tighter for Curry because there isnt enough firepower to spread the floor effectively.
A40: James Harden better drop that Kardashian girl fast. Humphries, Reggie Bush, Odom are a list of athletes they have ruined
Add Kanye and caitlyn to that list . The Kardashains always seem to bring out "stuff" from every man they meet. So Rockets are not getting to the finals this year
Donlittle: I am suprised we could not get 10 people to register for the bball fantasy league nor could this thread get pushes to the front page. Thats babaric as i thought a lot of folks in 9ja already started watching bball. We have a long way to go.
yeah, i thought w would get more. draft is supposed to be in 2 hours, but we need one more dude
this was one of my primary reasons (other than chibok) for wanting GEJ out as soon as possible. Some folks doubted Buhari could be counted upon to stand against IMF etc, but I knew he would do the right thing when elected. If you havent been paying attention, the IMF, Bloomberg etc are doing all they can to sabotage Buhari right now (2015), because it is obvious he will not play ball. However, the damage has already been done - the mindless borrowing GEJ went on WILL bite us. The only hope now is to see the next few years of hardship through, make the necessary reforms and emerge stronger. I shudder to think where we will be now if GEJ had won again. He would have borrowed enough debt to keep the next 4 generations in debt
Rick is up there with Larry Brown imo. Doc Rivers credentials is suspect. He gets exposed when he coaches teams that are not deep. Clips this year look more like his type of team tho
The main issue here is Nigeria's debt is in dollars.
For example, if you borrow $1 when exchange rate is $1-N100, you convert and have N100 to do business. Now you owe your lender N100 ($1). If the exchange rate increases to $1-N150 in the meantime, you now owe you lender N150. So with no interest added, you can go bankrupt just because you cant pay your debt back
This is the issue here - the IMF wants CBN to loosen monetary controls so our currency can depreciate, thereby rendering us unable to pay back debt. We are already in trouble because the weakened oil demand caused a huge depreciation during GEJ's admin, spiking our debt. Note I didnt say GEJ did it. Buhari is doing the right thing here by tightening monetary controls (something GEJ did not have the political will to do), and Nigerians need to wake up and stop playing politics! The vultures are circling!
