Roland17: Here we go with CP3 again. He is out indefinitely with the same hamstring that shut him down last season. Oh well, its still early, the Rockets would rather it happens now than the postseason. Knowing CP3, our season is in jeopardy if no one else steps up. I now understand people that say CP3 is selfish on the down low. He is a great teamate on an off the court, but you just get this feeling he bails out on you if his comfort is even threatened a little bit. I am not suggesting he play through injury, but the abruptness with which he packs it in is odd to me. No looking at teamates, or going to the bench or saying anything...the first sign of trouble, just walks to the lockeroom straight. |

Watching bron hit a game winner made me sick to my stomach, but i swear, seeing the crowd standing up as he got the ball and move, crowd looking as the ball moved, and the same crowd getting up on their sit and yelling as the ball went into the net is like no other.
I want to go to another playoffs game this year but i just moved back to Atlanta and let's just say, I do not think this team deserves to be in the Nba not to talk of making the playoffs wetin u dey do for atl. yup the hawks suck |

Raptors are the favorites imo. No Lebron means no fear. Plus no more bromance in d middle of a game. I agree Kawhi still needs to show he can carry a team come playoffs, but that last game as a Spur against Warriors is tantalising. |

A40: Are the Wizards paying him long term? He turns 34 next year though so I don't know how smart that would be. What's doing the Wizards sef ehn it remains to be seen if Ariza can fix it but they were smart to offload Oubre. They badly overpaid for Porter Jr and it's part of why they are in salary cap hell atm. I doubt it is long term, considering they want to blow the team up. Or maybe Ariza whoops Wall once in practice and the young(er) man comes to his senses and Wizards magically get better |

A40: Naah I no too agree with this submission. If you want to talk about one of the most adaptable coaches the league has ever seen Pop is one of them.
I have seen the Spurs morph from a ground and pound team that would pound you into submission into the John the Baptist of the current Golden State we are seeing now.
Their problem right now is the playing style of Aldridge and DeRozan are not ideal for a team trying to compete at the top of the West. Ironically they have managed to play even worse on defense (Aldridge the biggest suspect) I still maintain that this present DeRozan style is not sustainable. When you need 27 shots and a ton of FT attempts to get to 32 pts there is a problem.
Wait oh which Tony Parker you dey talk? The one they drafted? I'd say Tony Parker's lack of outside shooting is why he isn't one of the greatest PG's ever (I think he's top 10-15 anyway) my brother, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. spurs coaching dna including Pops is ground n pound aka ugly ball. They keep trying to get born again into the current kingdom of warriors style bball. buuuut, you cannot put new wine in old wineskins. Under pressure, they revert and this confusion makes aldridge and derozan hesitate. That split second is huge in the nba. T parker was never a shooter, but before his stint with the spurs, he was an athletic freak in addition to being nba ready. I would have loved to see a younger Parker in this era. |

SmooshCHN: I know Ariza and Mbah leaving would affect them but it looks like the problem is even far from those two leaving. Team chemistry is not 1+1=2. Sometimes 1+1=3. Arizas personality had an effect on the lockeroom - it wasnt just his steals and 3s. unfortunately there is no formula to personality nfectiousness, so... |

A40: Lagos Ibadan express no smooth na. We are talking of a path of least resistance.
I am still scratching my head as to why the Spurs defense is so bad. I know they lack a standout defensive player but what I'm seeing is not acceptable even from a G-LEAGUE team
Can't stress enough my disappointment in DeRozan and this Carmelo ball he has been playing these last few games. A perimeter player taking just 6 3pt shots in 7 games is suicide in today's game. thats what i meant. I dont see spurs offense as taking path of least resistance. I think they have a coaching crew that has developed around Popovichs personality that cant see basketball any other way than the spurs way aka ugly ball. They have several rules which I feel are like potholes in the offense. Aldridge had a hard time adjusting, and now DeRozan. For example, I understand the point of moving the ball around, but please if you have an all star with ball in his hand at his sweet spot, even if there are 20s on the shot clock, let him take his shot and live with it. I hate the fact that Tony Parker didnt leave the Spurs earlier. Dude was a live wire on offense until he got to the spurs. Someone will say they won 3 rings with him playing like that. I say they vould have won more if Parker had been given more freedom. |

A40: This is a very fantastic piece! I think it's easy to forget how hard it can be to motivate in November a team that is already tuned to Spring time basketball and then to do it for 3 to 4 straight years. It also helps that Kerr is unafraid to borrow ideas and implement. I recall one of his video guys advising him to bench Bogut in the 15 Finals and start Iggy
You raised a glut of solid points that I can't help but agree with and I'd also add that the major reason why some might consider Kerr overrated because of his struggles thus far and assuming it stays that way is that you would expect a team with KD and Klay Thompson to be able to cope with the absence of Steph regardless of playing style.
Star players go down in sports all the time but I don't know a team in the league better equipped to cope with the loss of a star than Golden State. The mantra is Strength in Numbers but what is happening atm is an antithesis to that creed. Ask around the league and I doubt any coach would buy the absence of Steph as an excuse for the team struggling thus far. Anyway time will ultimately tell. Like I said KD and Klay are definitely enough for this team to at least compete yeap, excellent post by Roland17. The greats, Phil Jackson, Larry Brown, Rick Carlisle, Pat Riley... all great tactical basketball minds. But there are many coaches just as good technically. Ultimately, a great coach is a great leader, able to manage the egos of his stars and control the lockeroom. I am not a Kerr hater, so I hope he rises to this challenge and figures out how to play his hand. He will definitely need his superstar with the least ego, Curry. But I fear he has played mr nice guy for so long, it will be hard. on the other hand, best believe Lebron (and Magic), easily the most tactical player in the league understand this is a vacuum the lakers could exploit. Both on the court and trades that can be made. |

Infinity stone? lol
we all know kerr is not the true warriors coach, he is more like a supervisor. the real identity of warriors is Curry, and it was mark jackson that molded Curry into what he has become. Even Luke Walton can coach warriors to a ring...there is nothing Kerr is doing that is special. Draymond would not try this ish if Mark Jackson was still coach.
Everybody is talking Draymond this and that...look, come playoff time, there are forwards that can hold him down, bruise him sef. The primary threat that distorts the defense is still Curry. Every other talent on that team is replaceable. Except Curry.
Which is why I am not concerned about these Warrior losses. The real heart and leader of the team jus dey lay low for now. |

HouseOfWine: I feel Melo would be better off on a team whose motto is "Playoffs is the Objective but not everything " ala Lottery teams cos then at least we can envision him playing more minutes.
GSW won! trust Kd to come huge down the 4th quarter. Melo isnt better off on any team man. These TNT folks keep making Melo the victim. Could it be, after the third team, Melo IS the issue? I get that a player of Melo's caliber should start. But if he cant play at that level anymore, isnt it time to exit the league. Or be like Vince Carter and enjoy being an elder statesman |

when you talk to the technical folks about heart, spirit and intangibles they laugh you off and point you to numbers. nevermind the formulas they use make assumptions.
we are witnessing the gm from mit, mr technical, Morey fumbling around. His formula didnt predict this.
How does letting Ariza, a role player walk make a better team on paper look worse. How does a low risk move in Carmelo risk the season. How does cp3 lose value after paying him what the formula says he is worth?

No wonder Jimmy was kpanshin his babe still tho Butler needs to learn to lay low. Each time he talks to press the focus shifts from KAT. Wise up and let the franchise player eat some arrows too |
