Rivers people look forward to a peaceful and hitch free election.
PoliticsRe: South-East Presidency: I Should Be The Front Runner, Not Peter Obi - Dave Umahi by bixton(m): 7:45am On Aug 18, 2025
fnep2smooth:
As a devoted supporter of Peter Obi and the ideals he represents for Nigeria's future, I have a strong reaction to Dave Umahi's recent statements about Southeast governors supporting President Tinubu's re-election. Let me break this down with clarity and evidence:

1. The Myth of "Unanimous Support" in Southeast
Umahi claims "all five governors" back Tinubu, but this ignores critical realities:
Partisan Divide: Three Southeast governors aren't from the APC (Enugu-PDP, Anambra-APGA, Abia-LP). Their parties haven't endorsed Tinubu, making Umahi's declaration presumptuous .
Grassroots Disconnect: Obi won the Southeast decisively in 2023. Governors' political maneuvering doesn't reflect the people's will—evident in Obi's continued mass rallies despite government restrictions .
Intimidation Tactics: APC governors like those in Edo and Benue have banned Obi from visiting, fearing his influence. This contradicts Umahi's "100% support" narrative .

2. Tinubu's "Favor" to Southeast: Reality vs. Rhetoric
Umahi boasts of Tinubu's infrastructure projects, but scrutiny exposes imbalances:
Neglected Priorities: Critical Southeast projects like the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and Port Harcourt-Enugu rail are *decades* overdue. Completing them isn't generosity—it's basic governance .
Regional Disparity: The ₦15 trillion Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway (toll-ready by December 2025) benefits Southwest/South-South disproportionately. Meanwhile, Southeast remains underserved .
Appointment Tokenism: Tinubu naming Umahi Works Minister (first SE appointee) is a tactical move, not transformative inclusion. The Southeast still lacks key national security/economic roles .

3. Obi's Unmatched Cross-Regional Appeal
Umahi urges Igbos to "support other regions" for future presidency, ignoring Obi's proven viability:
2023 Proof: Obi outperformed Tinubu in *12 states*, including Northern strongholds like Nasarawa and Southern hubs like Edo. His appeal transcends ethnicity .
Threat to Tinubu: APC fears Obi because he splits Tinubu's Southern base. In 2027, Obi could dominate the Southeast/South-South and erode Tinubu's Northern votes—forcing reliance on rigging .
Ethical Contrast: While Umahi brags "God used me," Obi's pledge for a *single term* prioritizes national healing over power retention—a stance even activists endorse .

4. The Fatal Flaw in Umahi's "Re-engagement" Theory
His call to "support other regions" for Igbo presidency is dangerously naive:
History Lessons: Jonathan (South) was denied a second term despite zoning norms. Power isn't "given"; it's earned through principled resistance .
Obi's Strategy: Building a multi-ethnic movement—like his Sokoto/Lagos campaign teams—is how Igbos gain presidency. Not through subservience to failing incumbents .
Tinubu's Vulnerability: With Northern discontent rising (Kwankwaso attacking him) and economic turmoil, 2027 is winnable for Obi. Surrendering now betrays generations .

Conclusion: Obi’s Path vs. Umahi’s Subservience
Umahi’s speech reveals a troubling shift: from governor to Tinubu’s apologist. His "performance" boasts (e.g., Ebonyi roads) pale against Obi’s Anambra legacy—cleared pensions, education reform, and fiscal prudence without fanfare. True Igbo leadership isn’t begging for scraps at Tinubu’s table; it’s uniting Nigerians under a vision of justice and competence. Obi embodies this. When Umahi claims "we can’t get presidency by sentiments," he mistakes principle for naiveté. Obi’s 6.1 million votes prove otherwise—and in 2027, we’ll prove it again.

"Leadership isn’t about self—it’s about the people." – Dave Umahi .
We agree. That’s why Peter Obi fights.
You wrote a lot but I'll just settle with the bolded for now. I'll also say the Hon.Minister Dave Umahi comment about a South East President being the main ingredients rather than a PO, because from the way PO is doing , he is walking as an independent candidate who does not represent the Igbo but himself if you understand what I mean. As far as National politics is concerned and the President, you can't just write off a region.

The Southeast still lacks key national security/economic roles .

With regards to the bold, and if I understand your point of view......
During the PGEJ administration the Co-ordinatimg Minister of the economy who doubles as the Minister of Finance is of Igbo, can you tell me what value it added to the entire East or should I say to her State of origin, economy wise and infrastructure, etc, etc...?

diordaves:
It is not possible unless they mean carcass. And it doesn't depend on funds. It depends on the right planning to have a fighting chance.

Excluding Sundays; working from Monday to Saturday, that is 112 working days. Civil engineering and logistically speaking I can't see this happening unless na all those kind poorly built bungalows with very low foundation without DPC.

The truth is Nigeria doesn't have supporting infrastructure to support a quality, smooth and speedy construction delivery. The availability of funds is not the issue here. A homeowner who wishes to complete a building in four months, must already have earmarked funds.

The issues are:

LOCATION: There are some locations in the country that can take you over two weeks just to get a trailer load of sand or granite delivery to site from the date you place the order. Try to get sand or granite delivered to places (for example) like Central Lagos or even Yaba, Aguda and you will understand what I mean. In some locations, drilling a borehole for a successful access to water to build can even take you a whole month sef.

LOW PRODUCTIVITY: The average time of delivering a foundation subject to Building Regulations, is 14 days from the day you break ground. If it is water logged, it may even take you more than a month just to deliver the foundation. This is because productivity is low in the country and almost all processes are manual labour with near zero automation and machinery use. The right equipment are not readily available.

It's not uncommon for the delivery and installation of windows to take you more than a month. Custom design of MDF/HDF wardrobe can take you a month sef. Realistically, internal finish alone done use up the four months.

So the issue is the right planning. Planning is key. This is why it is essential to know why they wish to build a house in breakneck speed.
The bolded is more than enough for anyone.
Location and swamped land and the other challenges you mentioned are of no real threat to meeting up the desired timeline.
There are certain considerations that can be given in certain instance which the client will also see real reasons for such and need for an extension.

If someone on here has done such for three months but i can't remember if it was carcass alone or with complete finishing.
Nevertheless, I say that it's very possible for all and hand over key to the client and that depends on the earmarked funds.

I will end with......

As an engineer/architect/builder with a well detailed building design plan, why do I need the GMP man to come take measurements at the site when it's easy for him to get if off the design plan and start preparing and so it is for some other stuffs.

Please, is it possible to build a 4 bedroom bungalow in 4 months. Sept-december.

What should I budget for this type of building in Ibadan

Thank you
Its very very possible and not rocket science. As long as the funds are readily available.
As regards the budget, to be very realistic, just get the detailed complete building plan and an actual BOQ/BEME from land clearing to hand off key.

Yes, the unit removed was installed directly on tiles, not concrete. I don't know whether screws were used though.

I'll try to take better pictures Itomorrow and post here. Thank you.
Okay. While at that you'll have to find a way to check if the screws are properly in place afixed or worn out because that's the reason why you get that wobble effect of the toilet seat.

It is because Nigerians are not used to paying taxes, utility bills, etc, etc in Nigeria that's why they will always complain while in Europe about such even when they better. Typical of Nigerians wanting to live in areas that's even sky above their pay grade.

I wonder why the Op is talking about minimum wage in Europe when we all know what they have is calling a living wage which is two distinct things.

Thank you sir. The cistern is not fixed to the wall, so maybe that's why it wobbles. The gap between the cistern and wall is a bit wide, around 9 inches. I think the unit bought wasn't the best design for the toilet since the flush pipe came from the ground instead of the wall. I'll look for another plumber to access the whole situation and proffer solutions. Thanks for your help and insights.
Toilet flush pipe connectors are either on the ground or from the wall.

From your originating picture, it seems the toilet seat you bought does not come with holes at it's sides to run screw through it into the floor or through the tiles ?

If I'm not mistaken, the toilet seat removed was also fixed onto the tiles and not directly on the concrete floor?

I also do not think it's the 9" gap you talked about between the cistern and the wall....

Probably you should post another picture of the whole set up as it is.

Also if for any reason your toilet seat did not come with holes to run screw through it onto the tiles or concrete floor then it means you need to make use of cement at the sides to hold it instead of the silicone otherwise you'll still get that wobble effect when it's in use.

You also need to ask yourself what changed between the old toilet you removed and this new one..?

There are two pictures below.
Real life and internet. I hope you can understand without extra comments.

It's just like the circular banking system and the Islamic banking system.
Many think the circular banking system is a Christian bank, but that is not true. There's nothing in such banks that's a proof that it's a Christian bank because it's not run on christian ideologies or the Holy Bible laws.

One of the main principles of the Islamic banking system is that they operate on zero interest loans or should I say that's what we hear for those of us who ate outside.

I am the type that buys whatever I come across deemed good for the family, especially while on road trip.

I noticed each time I tell my wife the actual price of the items I bought, she always complain I was cheated by the seller.

These are items you hardly can get within the city center.

The issue now is that, I'm now scared of telling her the true worth of the items I recently got while returning from South South. It was a road trip so I bought plenty cheap food stuff.

Madam say I no Sabi price. I just tire.
These are stuff I considered very very cheap.

Who the experience the same thing abeg ?
That's how a lot of women do.
But you don't have to bother yourself about it.
As long as you don't feel cheated then don't let it trouble your peace. I do know that buying food stuffs along the road on a road trip is usually cheaper within our resident city centres and market.
I'll only advice, probably create time and visit any of the markets within your place of residence and do a market survey price check on those food stuffs bought. Also ensure the quality matches same or even better given the price. But whatever your findings, just keep it to yourself.
Good luck.

(1) Not having electricity and having to read with candle/lantern is considered, she says its poverty.
(2) Having to fetch water with half rusted iron bucket, within short distances in a well, she says its poverty.
(3) If she left Nigeria 1996, meaning she did not finish secondary school here in Nigeria.
(4). Her father a doctor and her mother a lecturer in a university......funny she never did mention names of her school but that the boarding room was cramped with 25 people......
(5) I wonder which kind of public school she attended, that she got the guts to report someone copying or involved in malpractice.........and they did not beat her in one corner.....

(6) Well I just see someone who played on the intelligence of others to get to a high position but only to give an excuse for their losses and setbacks. She is no stranger to the Conservative Party, I say she's giving lame excuses to lame people.

I find many of her talks was just to play on the psych of others.

Firstly, there was no video evidence to corroborate the allegation that KWAM 1 poured water or liquor on anyone.
Secondly, I have stated that assaults are usually taken personal by the person assaulted and such persons typically drive resulting or consequential actions. In the Pilot case, it is apparent she decided not to escalate it or take it personal, assuming the allegation is true. In the Ms. Comfort Emmanson case, the assaulted people took it up. Assaulting security or Police Officers is typically a different ball game from general civilian.
I don't know why people bend narratives without having to take holistic picture of the entire events.....

We married A Year ago. We decided to wait for a year before having kids. We started trying 3 few months but no success. I told both of us needs to get tested. I did Sperm Analysis & the result is good, I'm very fertile.

She did pelvic scan, and in the scan, She has fibroid (Submocousal fibroid 5.5cm). The news broke me and I was very sad, I never imagined I'll be in this kind of situation. We went to the gynecologist and He told us to go for HSG to check her fallopian tube, The result showed that Both Tubes are blocked.

I've not been myself for the last couple of days. I had to pretend to be strong because She was down & has been crying as well. This are two serious fertility issues and Her chances of conception is very low. Even if The gynecologist tells us to do the IVF(Which I don't even have money for it cause it's vey expensive) They'll still have to remove the fibroid.

This are very expensive procedures that are not even guaranteed that it will work and She will conceive. I'm the only male child in my family, in my early 30's. Pressure will start coming from all directions and also considering my my age, I don't pray to experience delay with child birth. I just decided to pour own my mind here. I'm really down, I don't know what to do.
(1) Just settle down and give yoir life truthfully to Christ Jesus and make Him yoir Lord and Saviour. Both you and your wife. Then live righteously. Pray together in love.

(2) Try and get that herbal drink called Jinja extracts for your wife and let her start taking it.

Forget about trying to whip up ethnic sentiments. The incidences happened at different locations and involved different airlines. One was in Abuja involving ValueJet while the other was in Lagos involving Ibom Air. One involved an unruly passenger who was already removed from the airplane trying to block flight take off. The other involved an unruly passenger assaulting airline staff and being forcibly removed from the plane.

Assaults generally get faster reaction, particularly from the person being assaulted, who would likely take the matter personally and follow it up quickly, than trying to block a plane which in actual sense you are the one in grave danger and no one is likely to take it personal.

And finally, it is the disposition or approach of the people involved in each case that matter. Due to Ms. Comfort Emmanson attacking a Police Officer or Security personnel directly, it is highly likely she would not go scot free at that point and that is what happened.
So the captain Kwam 1 poured some water/liquor on, it wasn't an assault?

Do you know what's an assault or can you tell me how the Nigerian law and constitution defines an assault?

I'm not a tribal bigot and don't play sentiments. None of those in the news are even my tribal people be it geographical location or State.
