Health / Can I Live To Be 300 Years Old? by BizLifeE: 12:53pm On Mar 27, 2019
Do you think anyone alive today will still be alive in 300 years?

Yes.

As predicted by Ray Kurzweil, chief engineer at Google, the solution to immortality is a strategy of a bridge to a bridge to a bridge.

The first step is doing things now to slow down aging. Exercise, eating a proper diet, getting preventative medical checkups, watching your weight, and taking your medications, along with supplements for people over 35.

Second step is that companies in Silicon Valley are working on anti-aging drugs. These will help people live longer by prolonging the period of youthfulness. In the background the technology of brain scanning, A.I., and other technologies are increasing exponentially.

Exponential growth is difficult for the human mind to understand. We are used to linear thinking, such as 1, 2, 3, etc. The graph above shows the exponential growth of computing.

It is predicted that by 2045 human beings will be able to upload their minds into a computer.

We are a collection of cells. But every seven years or so those cells are replaced. But we don’t notice. We consider ourselves still “us.” The reason is that we are patterns of consciousness. So long as that is not interrupted, the “us” remains.

Imagine getting in a car accident and your limbs need to be amputated. Then you might get prosthetic limbs. If these were connected to our nerves and electronic, as some now are, these limbs would feel a part of us. Our brains even rewire to make this feel true. Nobody would say that the real you isn’t there anymore.

Imagine you have Parkinson’s Disease. A brain implant is placed that helps regulate your tremors. You are still “you,” right? Of course. Next let’s say your brain was damaged in another area. Another implant. By replacing each biological part with a hardware one, we still consider ourselves the same person. In the future this will be done but in a far more sophisticated manner. Nanobots are being developed which are microscopic computers. These can fit together to work as replacements for organic structures. If we are slowly retrofitted with hardware to replace our biological pieces we retain our consciousness, but eventually we would become ourselves but with a hardware body. The substrate has changed, but the fundamental person has not. These hardware bodies could be repaired.

If you didn’t want to go this route there are biological treatments in the works. Treatments to reduce aging, replace failed organs, and rejuvenate old cells are all being developed.

Children born today are likely to live 300 years if they so choose. I would choose it. Death is a horrible loss. Kurzweil is right to say that death is a tremendous loss. All your memories, all your experiences, all you can share, all those connections with loved ones are lost. There is nothing good about death. There is nothing beautiful. That is just what we tell ourselves to make ourselves feel better. As humans we overcome problems. Overcoming death is perhaps the most important problem we will ever solve.

Business / Facebook + Bitcoin = Facebit: Inside The New Facebook Cryptocurrency by BizLifeE: 10:35pm On Mar 12, 2019
The New York Times broke a story about Facebook’s new cryptocurrency, which is being developed in a top-secret office that’s only accessible with high-security clearance. Although Facebook has not spoken publicly about the project, and the new token does not have a name, let’s call it “Facebit.”

Facebook + Bitcoin = Facebit.

This is a momentous piece of news. Talk about widespread adoption: Facebook’s reach is so vast that “Facebit” may become a new global currency overnight, on par with the dollar and the euro.

According to multiple people both inside and outside Facebook who were briefed on the project, here’s what we know.

It’s a stablecoin. “Facebit” will be a stablecoin pegged to the value of several different currencies. (Read our top-rated piece on stablecoins here.) This means its price won’t fluctuate, like bitcoin—but it won’t be tied exclusively to the dollar, either.

It’s a very big, very secret team. Over 50 engineers are working on the project, which is highly confidential, requiring special keycard access to enter the building.

They want to trade it on exchanges. The Facebook team has had discussions with digital exchanges on listing “Facebit.” This implies it’s not tied exclusively to Facebook, but rather as a real currency that can be bought, sold, and traded.

The estimated launch is Q2 2019. In discussions with exchanges, Facebook has indicated they plan to launch in the first half of 2019 (read: this summer).

It will be at least partially decentralized. By partnering with exchanges, Facebook is signaling that it will not be tightly centralized. And by using blockchain, Facebook is signaling this is not an “in-game currency,” accessible only to Facebook users.

A New Kind of “Supermoney”

You can imagine Mark Zuckerberg’s exasperation: his company is under fire from governments, while governments use his company to spread state propaganda. You can understand why he might be ready to work outside the government altogether, to form a new kind of “supermoney.”
These are the most confusing questions Congress asked Zuckerberg
Here’s why this is significant for bitcoin investors.

A new digital payment standard. The “Facebit” could be first used for payments within Facebook, but eventually as the currency that you use to buy anything online. What we’re describing is not just a payment system like Apple Pay or Venmo—it’s an actual currency that can be used instead of dollars.

A new global economic power. By creating a new Facebook cryptocurrency, Zuckerberg is giving traditional government-owned currencies a run for their money. And by pegging it to a basket of foreign currencies (not just the dollar), he is diversifying his risks.

A user-friendly cryptocurrency. The challenge for digital currencies is making them so easy that your grandfather can use them. Given that your grandfather is pretty much the target Facebook demographic, “Facebit” may open the floodgates of digital currency to grandpas everywhere.

Who would have thought that Facebook, with all its centralized power, could emerge as the new model of decentralized payments? Blow the dust off your Facebook account, because it might just emerge as the new face of blockchain.

Business / This Is How GOOGLE Makes Money (revealed) by BizLifeE: 6:18am On Feb 09, 2019
How Does Google Make Money?

Google is well known for its popular search engine, email service, web browser, and various online tools we use daily at work, at home, and on the go. What many don’t think about day-to-day, however, is that all of these services are free. Parent company Alphabet (GOOGL) released Q3 2018 earnings on October 25, 2018. The global tech giant reported revenues of $33.7 billion for the quarter, roughly a 21% increase from $27.77 billion in Q3 2017.

On Dec 11th 2018, Google CEO Sundar Pichai testified before the U.S. Congress in a wide-range hearing about data breaches, misinformation campaigns, and concerns about working with China. The hearing was almost certainly a result of Pichai’s absence in Congress earlier in the year when the chief executive declined to testify alongside Twitter’s Jack Dorsey and Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg during a Senate Intelligence committee meeting.

Among other concerns, lawmakers raised were to ask about the controversial algorithms powering Google’s search engine. Up to that point, Google had not disclosed how its search engine prioritizes content on the web. In this article, we’re going to break down what we do know about Google, including how it nets billions of dollars each year by offering free services.

Politics / Is It Sensible For Me To Migrate To The UK? by BizLifeE: 11:22am On Jan 20, 2019
I'm shifting to the U.K in a month. Is life in the U.K depressing?

No.

As long as you have a reasonably well paid job and a decent place to live it's great. Just don't expect a North American lifestyle when it comes to material things. Everything in the UK is smaller.

There is a vibrant cultural scene, live music and theatre is in every city, and masses of history to soak up. When the weather is favourable (which is around two thirds of the time) there are some wonderful national parks and amazing coastal scenery. We have fantastic sports too: rugby (both kinds), soccer, cricket (in the summer), as well as all kinds of motor sports. In the summer there are festivals like Glastonbury and Edinburgh. There's always something to look forward to.

Don't believe the stories that half the country lives on beans on toast. Britain today is a melting pot of international cuisines and you can get just about anything you want fairly easily.

Most people have work, and violent crime is very low by international standards. Driving standards are high, and accident statistics reflect this (although there are always some idiots).

The only downsides to living in Britain are the relatively high levels of taxation, and some aspects of the climate. But nowhere is perfect, and for the most part the positives overwhelmingly outweigh the negatives.

Religion / Dr. D.K Olukoya Creates Foods For Scammers by BizLifeE: 12:31am On Jan 12, 2019
Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya is a great man of God. I believe in his calling, ministry and messages. His sermons and teachings have blessed millions of lives, and he’s kind-hearted and exemplary.

However, some idiots who are known as scammers are doing everything possible to use the name of this great man of God to dupe innocent people.

For example, Facebook is a wonderful platform for reaching people and impacting them. No wonder Dr. Olukoya also has an official Facebook page: https://web.facebook.com/DR.OLUKOYA

Announcing the official Facebook page would have encouraged those who have criminal energy to renew their efforts (energies that could have been channeled into productive activities). Certain part of these professional scammers are also members of MFM. Yes, I’m sure of this.

Long before this, criminals have been creating fake Facebook pages purporting to belong to Olukoya and they use that to dupe people, asking for donations towards various causes.

Many unwary but generous people have paid “fool’s money” only to know later that they’ve been duped.

MFM church has invariably issued warnings to people alerting them to this kind of scam..

Now scammers have designed/can design fake Facebook pages (with lots of effort), making them look like the real official page.

Some possibilities are:

https://web.facebook.com/DROLUKOYA

https://web.facebook.com/DR-OLUKOYA

https://web.facebook.com/DR_OLUKOYA
.
https://web.facebook.com/doctorolukoya

https://web.facebook.com/olukoya

https://web.facebook.com/kolawoleolukoya

https://web.facebook.com/danielolukoya

https://web.facebook.com/DK,OlUKOYA

The list and options are endless…. Honestly.

So, many people will not be aware of these subtle changes. They will do everything in their capacity to fool you into believing that these pages are legitimate. But there is a sure way to avoid all these scams…

NEVER EVER SEND MONEY TO ANYBODY, GROUP, ACCOUNT OR ORGANIZATION FOR ANY REASONS WHATEVER.

No matter their claims, prayers, efforts, causes, proposals, announcements, needs, conditions, wants, appearances, appointments, etc. Do not send money to anyone whatsoever. If they make it appear like a matter of life and death, do not send any money or anything to them.

If you want to donate to anything relating to MFM, please visit the nearest MFM church and book an appointment with their pastor and request for the best ways to donate to MFM, whether the branch or the headquarters. They will guide you in the best way to do so.

A word is enough for the wise.

Jobs/Vacancies / Strange Reasons Why People Get Fired From Jobs by BizLifeE: 11:08am On Jan 04, 2019
What is the most disgusting thing you have ever had to terminate an employee for?

“Laurie” said the voice on the intercom phone “can I come see you?” I of course recognized the voice, but was immediately concerned about the tone. “Of course you can come see me” I replied. “Are you alone?” she asked. Now I was worried, “yes, are you ok?” I asked. “I'll be right there.”

It was a girl I worked with, Jamie. She was barely 18. Her older sister worked there as well so I had known this girl since she was probably 13. She had never called to ask if she could come to my office. She just popped in.

As HR, I was worried at this point. Obviously something happened.

She came in my office shutting the door quietly behind her. She looked flushed and scared. “Jamie, what is going on?” She took a deep breath and told me through tears “Abe (not real name) tried to kiss me!”. She burst into tears and I had to take a breath and put my HR hat over my protective big sister head. He didn't just try to kiss her. He waited outside of the bathroom door until she was coming out and pushed her back into the bathroom trying to force himself on her! I wanted to beat his ass. But, I instead sucked it up. I told her we would investigate and sent her home with pay so I could question him.

2 male managers sat with me as I questioned Abe. He didn't deny any of it. He had no remorse and basically said she wanted him to do it. Mind you, Abe was 28 at the time. I was set back. “What do you mean she asked for it?” He smirked and said she had shown him pictures of her from her recent trip. Seductive pictures that aroused him. The manager of the department intervened saying “are you talking about the pictures she was showing all of us?” Abe nodded his head in agreement and tried to get the manager to agree that the pictures were borderline pornographic. The manager got immediately angry and said. “I looked at those pictures, they were of an 18 year old girl having fun on a ski trip! Dude, wtf are you talking about?!” Abe commented “you’re a man, the hot tub one.” I thought the manager was going to jump over the table and punch Abe. I should have let him.

I proceeded with the questions asking if she invited him into the bathroom, etc etc. After about 20 minutes, both managers were ready to punch him and so was I. I fired him and told him to never come back to the property or contact Jamie or we would be witnesses to have him arrested for attempted rape.

I had Jamie bring me the photos. The hot tub one? Just her and her friends faces. Nothing sexual about it. Jamie was a model and was breathtakingly beautiful, but nothing in any of the pictures was sexual or pornographic in any way. I asked if she wanted us to contact the police and she said no. She just didn't want to deal with him.

A week later, that son of a bitch filed for unemployment. I appealed and had to do a phone mediation with him and a state attorney representing the unemployment. I sent copies of the photos and witness testimony from the manager's stating what he said during the investigation. After the call, the attorney called me back and said he should have been arrested! She was beside herself at his responses “the pictures” he said “were an invitation to me to have her”. Disgusting man.

The story doesn't have a happy ending. Jamie (real name) passed away from an overdose of prescription meds about a couple of years later. RIP my friend.

Edit- I appreciate some of your edit suggestions. This is very personal story to me, so I'm not going to change it. Sometimes you need to read between the lines and hold back the need to correct others.
