Nigeria isn't a Muslim state, I strongly disagree with this proposal. People need to learn how to stop forcing their beliefs on everyone, and coexist.

Foreign AffairsRe: Is China Using Africans As Slave? by blackspade(m): 3:37pm On Sep 30, 2008
lol, if the Chinese are using anyone as slaves, their own people would be the ones. For example, Angola is undergoing massive reconstruction as we speak (rail, highways, cities, ports, airports, etc. . .), and the Chinese government has sent 600,000 temporary Chinese workers to Angola, to work alongside Angolans because the Chinese don't want to pay as much for labor. If any country allows a foreign consortium to treat their own native population as so-called slaves, that is not the fault of the Chinese, it's the fault of irresponsible government not protecting the well being of their working population.

Good. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Hopefully this group will then realize where the money should go, and decide to help develop Naija, and make that money come back into their pockets 10-fold. £400,000,000 could do a lot, if invested appropriately.

Simple. Discourage Africans from going to countries where simple minded, white eastern European people are in the majority. That means all ex-soviet union countries, and all ex-Yugoslavia countries. No matter how cheap, those are homogeneous societies, which means Whites are in the vast majority, and there is a lot of ignorance about the other races in this world. Just don't go, opt out for societies who aren't as ignorant to other cultures.

Banking supervisor confident about China´s economy

Source: CCTV.com

The Chairman of China's Banking Regulator says the country's economy is in good shape and should be able to maintain stability despite the global crisis. But Liu Mingkang also stressed that no country could survive as an isolated entity. Liu Mingkang was speaking at this year's Summer Davos, that opened Saturday in the northern municipality of Tianjin.

Speaking at the opening of the Davos Forum on Saturday, Liu Mingkang said the proposed 700 billion dollar bailout plan will boost confidence in the markets. But he also said it is NOT enough to reverse the situation. And it will certainly take a toll on the world's economy.

Liu Mingkang, Chairman of China Banking Regulatory Commission said "The growth rate of China's economy is certain to slow down. This year it will fall to between 9 percent and 9.5 percent, from 11 percent in the previous year. But I see that as a blessing. China doesn't need very rapid growth now. We need to have the quality boosted."

Liu Mingkang says China has more room to fuel its growth. Especially as consumption and investment demands help to make up for falling exports. He also says China's banking sector is ready to embrace senior workers from the world's financial sector.

Liu Mingkang said "I believe China's financial sectors are ready to embrace the senior workers who just lost their jobs at Wall Street. They can join the management in China's financial institutions to share their experiences."

Liu also says China's financial regulators have held multiple discussions with their US counterparts since the beginning of the financial crisis.

You are a fraud you loser. I left Nigeria for an education so I can return to better my country and help make it reach it's full potential. What are you doing Mpele? Sitting around probably unemployed, and doing nothing but talking down on a nation that will soon overtake South Africa as the largest economy in Africa. Yeah, it will, check the GDP predictions.

You're obviously uneducated, because if you were, half of your assertions wouldn't be said. You're a failure of a person, and I didn't open this thread because you're so "important", I opened it to inform the Niaraland community of the fraud called "Mpele".

PoliticsRe: A Nigerian Businessman Murdered In China. by blackspade(m): 6:41am On Sep 26, 2008
Very sad, and disturbing story. May that man rest in peace, and hopefully justice will prevail.

But, China and African countries have a "unique" relationship with each other. Do you ever wonder why America doesn't invest billions of dollars into Africa like China does? Well, it's because China doesn't get involved with social/political issues in other nations, and they expect the same in return. You likely won't hear about Nigeria complaining to China about how their citizens are treated, but I think a good move would be to warn citizens of Nigeria of the kind of treatment they will likely encounter when going to China. It's sickening how racist the Chinese are, but I hope something is done.

Same as america too,a joint can put in jail for like 30 or more days,if you are not careful, even weed paraphernalia.Alot of blacks are so-called jail birds in america for just possession of bag of ten dollars weed.Unnecessarily harsh laws to put the innocent down by all means .If all those rednecks can smoke weed, they will stop being fucking racist, they will see clearly
No, laws in America regarding Marijuana differ depending on what state you're in. In California where I stay, if a police officer sees you have weed under an ounce (28 grams), you're more likely to be just given a warning, and if the cop is an asshole, he'll give you a $120 ticket, and that's as far as it goes. If you have over an ounce of weed you get taken to the police station for a maximum of 24 hours, then let go with a court date.

California is also one of I think 12 states who have the "Medical Marijuana" system, where people who get "Cannabis Cards" are free to smoke whenever they want without fear of the law interfering with their consumption.

In Texas, penalties are EXTREMELY severe. Simple possession of weed is an automatic 24 hour jail sentence, and possibly more depending on what they find. Possession of an ounce of Marijuana (28 grams) in Texas, is automatic 6 months in jail. Distribution (selling) is double that. lipsrsealed

Any Nigerians out there who enjoy the Dagga, I recommend going to states who are more liberal, like California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, and Maryland. They also have the option of gettin Cannabis cards. That is all. I'll disappear. cheesy
PoliticsRe: $$700b Package, Can This Really Change The Downturn Of Us' Economy? by blackspade(m): 8:21pm On Sep 25, 2008
At the cost of the future generations of American people, yes. This will be a HEAVY burden on future generations, because it will be more money to pay through taxes, because of debt.

On the other hand, if they don't pass it, the economy of America can virtually collapse, if not handled correctly, and the economic downturn of now may look mild compared to the possible outcome if companies are not "rescued".

PoliticsRe: Time To Legalize It by blackspade(m): 7:02pm On Sep 25, 2008
Too bad too many Nigerians think Ganja is worse than crack at times. I for one smoke weed often, and I believe if you are to use it responsibly, there are no side effects besides the FUN PART! I am an example of how if you prioritize your weed consumption, you can still be successful. I'm in school right now, have numerous essays to write, not to mention study. After I complete my tasks, then that is the time I light up! Also, using a "vaporizer" is a far better alternative to a blunt, it's better for your lungs. Also, in my state I live in, in America, weed is on the verge of being LEGALIZED!

http://laist.com/2008/06/30/california_to_legalize_weed_for_eve_1.php

So, I wholeheartedly agree that the Ganja should be legalized, it's not as bad as so many people are brainwashed into thinking. Matter of fact, this thread is making me want to go pick up some PURPS! ~ Later~ cheesy

*smh* Why is it always a foreigner who always has to tell us Nigerians our potential? Nigeria is forecast to be one of the worlds largest economies in 2050, IF things go right, and Yar'Adua doesn't screw things up more than he's already done.

Complying with the topic, as much as I would like to see "Nigeria lead the world", I for one am a realist, and can't see this happening. Nigeria can barely lead itself at this moment, I can't really see it ruling the world, but I do see it having a larger influence in the World, and in a huge influence in Africa, in the near future.

This is not a new phenomena. Do you notice how it's almost taboo to criticize McCain and his military record? Well, back in 2004 the Republicans totally tore John Kerry's (D-Massachusetts) military record in shreds, and then claimed his purple heart award was not genuine. If you can't call that hypocrisy at it's core, then I guess I don't know shit. huh

Big Risk: Surging Debt Makes US. More Dependent on China, Russia, Gulf States

Posted Sep 15, 2008 12:07pm EDT by Aaron Task in Investing, Recession, Banking

The demise of Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, and Bear Stearns this year has investors contemplating the long-term outlook for other once-venerable institutions, including Dow members Citigroup, AIG and Bank of America.

But there's an even bigger financial institution with greater debt and an increasing level of bad loans on its books: The US. government.

Given the actions already taken, from the Housing Bill to the nationalization of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the US. deficit could double to $800 billion in two years, says Nouriel Roubini, of NYU's Stern School and RGE Monitor. (Even worse, the official government deficit figures exclude the costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the unfunded liabilities of Social Security and Medicare.)

The big risk is that foreign holders of Treasuries will no longer accept low interest rates to help fund US. debt spending, says Roubini, noting countries like China, Russia and oil-producing nations in the Middle East have becoming increasingly important holders of Treasuries. Should they demand higher rates to hold US. debt or, worse, dump their holdings, it could have profound ramifications on the US. economy and the value of the dollar.

Roubini further notes the Federal Reserve has put its balance sheet -- and independence -- at risk via its intimate involvement in thus-far failed attempts to stem the crisis.

It's tempting to dismiss the notion of a "run" on the US. government as unthinkable and some bears have been warning for years, even decades, about such a worst-case scenario. But after the events of this weekend, much less the past six months, it's clear that (almost) anything is possible and no scenario too "outrageous" to seriously contemplate.

I never said China would be immune to the economic downturn of America, I'm just saying it won't make such a big dent in the Chinese economy like some are trying to suggest. China and America have a unique relationship, and they both depend on each other. But, with this American economic downturn, China does have the upper-hand.

PoliticsRe: Why Is America's Crawling Economy Hitting The World? by blackspade(m): 12:21am On Sep 25, 2008
That still doesn't mean China will be greatly effected by the U.S. economic downturn like you're suggesting. China is rapidly starting to become more dependent from American investments. As I said before, as long as America owes China money, you won't see China falling down the economic ladder with America.
PoliticsRe: Why Is America's Crawling Economy Hitting The World? by blackspade(m): 11:13pm On Sep 24, 2008
bawomolo:
the US could always find a cheaper labor source You know. that's the point of globalization
How will they find somewhere cheaper if China is already a well established manufacturing center for American products? That's more money America doesn't have to set up another huge manufacturing country.

bawomolo:
China would be hugely affected by a downturn in the american economy. contrary to popular opinion, most of the chinese economic boom are concentrated in the cities of shanghai, beijing, hong kong etc while the countryside peasants and non-han minorities remain poor. where do you think the chinese goods are going to go too. China doesn't have a strong service industry compared to other developed countries.
Chinese products don't just go to America, they go worldwide. There's more fish in the sea to ship to, not to mention their neighbor Russia who is also going to be among the worlds top 10 largest economies in 2050.

China also has the largest "Current account balance" in the world, which means they have a surplus of nearly a trillion dollars, whereas America is broke, and in tremendous debt with not only China, but the world.
PoliticsRe: Why Is America's Crawling Economy Hitting The World? by blackspade(m): 11:09pm On Sep 24, 2008
True, but the US. depends heavily on Chinese imports, so in reality you won't see that effected by that much of a margin. Almost everything here in America is made in China, and if the U.S. were to stop importing Chinese made products, there economy would collapse even more.

PoliticsRe: Why Is America's Crawling Economy Hitting The World? by blackspade(m): 10:31pm On Sep 24, 2008
The United States owes China almost a Trillion dollars. China's gross domestic product is growing at a rapid rate, and China doesn't depend on the US. as much as people think. China is a worldwide trader, and doesn't "Blacklist" countries, and as long as they go on like that, they will always have an economic upper hand over America.

The plurality of Chinas exports do go to America (21%), but that is only a small percentage compared to all the countries they also ship to. I can see America's economic downturn slightly effecting China, just because exports may slightly decline from America, and other countries who're dependent on them, but at the same time, there's still that debt hanging over America that will need to be paid somehow.

To put it bluntly, China is growing at too much of a massive rate for America's economic downturn to effect them. China branches our EVERYWHERE, there's trillions of more dollars of trade opportunities for China, besides America and it's dependents.
PoliticsRe: Why Is America's Crawling Economy Hitting The World? by blackspade(m): 9:50pm On Sep 24, 2008
Slightly, but vastly exaggerated. As I stated above, economies who don't rely on America solely don't get effected as hard as others. Countries like Saudi Arabia who depend almost exclusively on America to grow their economy will be greatly effected. America doesn't have as much influence as it once had a couple of years ago, there's a new giant emerging, and it's called. . . . . CHINA. cool
PoliticsRe: Why Is America's Crawling Economy Hitting The World? by blackspade(m): 9:39pm On Sep 24, 2008
