justwise: Many traders in onisha and Ariara market can't read and write but they are doing very well for themselves hence my argument that ability to read and write is not what education is all about.
The op was talking about education from academic perspective then I said that education is not everything. A lot if those traders might have WAEC and some even have BSc. I have family that have their degrees but prefer to do business. |

Newmum0615: For me, I earn N362k. I have in total N4.420m in fixed deposits. I had just about 90k left in my salary acct. I am a banker and I rarely leave my salary lying in our staff acct. I always move more than half of it once I am paid to increase my deposit amount. My husband earns 601k and had N1.6m in his salary acct, N1.040m in our joint acct, and N2.750m in his fixed deposit. Making a total of N5.3m amongst other little cash lying around in his acct. So together we had almost 10m but the ECO never referred to the fixed deposits in his refusal notes. What you should have done was to include in your additional information how exactly the trip would be funded, from what accounts, what would be left to live on and that your fixed deposits can be liquidated if you need it when you return. I think you should reapply and explain in detail how you got the money and how you plan on funding the trip. |

ifyalways: Point is: Your salary account which is the EASIEST to verify it's source had VERY LITTLE funds.
The difference between the funds in your salary account ( which is easy to trace) and your other accounts (with little or no source) is alarmingly high.
If you had a landed property, other personal businesses and added that as other source of income, it would have been better as there would be rent receipts, business registration docs, receipts etc to back that up. Nobody can really justify how these people think. When we did for our whole family, we submitted salary accounts and fixed deposit/investment statements that was substantially higher than our combined income. Our salary account had an almost zero balance as we moved all idle cash to our investments. We probably submitted about 7 accounts between my husband and 1. But what I did in the additional information portion was to detail how we expected to fund the trip so that they don't get confused. |

Career › Re: All Expense Paid Scholarship To Thailand Or A Job With A Top Bank? by blank(f): 11:43am On May 04, 2016 |
Hey guys, I need your candid opinion and advice on this. I am first class graduate of Civil Engineering from one of the prestigious federal university in Nigeria. I won all expense-paid scholarship to Thailand and also secured job with sterling bank. Sterling bank job total take home is around 198k but I am confused whether to take up the job or go for my masters degree. I am particularly confused because of job insecurity associated with banking industry as well as deviating from my career aspiration of becoming an Engineer. I am also concerned of not being able to secure decent job when I come back after my masters programme in Thailand. I will be glad for your honest opinion and advice If you have the option to defer the program by one year, kindly do so. Even if it is one year work experience, it is very good. That is when your masters will help in getting a higher level. |

Did they ever block the road with their security detail? Did they make it difficult for others to enjoy their serenity? Did they listen to anyone? Is the wife not loud? She may have been very nice to her friends (at least that's why you are still friends) doesn't make them less of horrible neighbours. “The Controller-General is a peace loving and law abiding citizen of Nigeria who has never been involved in any act of bravado, impunity or hooliganism and will never encourage any form of abuse on any Nigerian".
This is so false. We know him and his wife in Trans Ekulu in Enugu. Horrible neighbours. Always trying to intimidate everyone else with their loudness and security details. Cos of him and his wife, my family had to sell off that house and move to GRA. His punishment is coming. |

I remember when I was about 6. I cut the stem and it looked like sugar cane to me. So I started chewing it. The taste was not palatable so I spat it out. My throat and mouth felt like they were on fire. I couldn't even shout.
I rushed to my mum to show her the plant. She started speaking in tongues cos I was looking pretty bad. She gave me almost a gallon of palm oil to drink. I was still on fire. Called for an ambulance to rush me to the hospital. Whilst waiting, saw a cup of cocoa that they made for my youngest brother and I downed the whole mug. It gave me relief.
Since then, I have a phobia for potted plants. |
