jahsharon: Maina does not know Justice Okon Abang. Okon Abang is Nigeria's most ruthless judge. Even when Olisa Metuh "died" inside the Courtroom, Justice Abang waited for Metuh's resurrection and continued the case. I concur. The judge is a real brick wall. |

The irony of all this is that Messrs Suffering and Hardship neither know ethnicity nor religion. Exactly. Let them keep talking trash . Death penalty awaits them. That's what they voted for. |

Yours is NIGERIAN CITIZENS importing rice into Nigeria from neighboring countries. Totally Nigeria's fault. If illegal immigrants can cross, drugs and arms can cross too. Especially drugs. Don't u think so? |
Music/Radio › Re: Why Angelique Kidjo Is Burna Boy’s Biggest Threat In Grammy Awards Category by blowjohn(m): 3:25pm On Nov 21, 2019 |
iamDrRhymes: Grammy award is for musicians- people who are skilled composers, songwriters, and instrumentalists. Grammy is not for freestyle artistes; not for people that sample other people's work or artistes with incoherent lyrics like the Nigerian pop artistes except for a handful that Burna boy is not part of. Burna boy does good music to some extent though but Agelique Kidjo is a musician, Grammy is for musicians and that's why Grammy is called an academic award.
I have been following the Grammies for years now, I will tell you that I was surprised to see burna boy on that list (no hating please, am just being academic and practical here). But incase Burna boy wins, then the standard for winning was reduced. Gaskia! Stop there. Again I say stop there! Mumford and sons who won album of the year years ago infact did a cover of Simon and Garfunkel's classic song 'the boxer' and the album was nominated for grammys. Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake holy grail was nominated and they sames lines from nirvana's smells like teen spirit. I can go on and on about artists sampling other people's songs or even doing covers and still being nominated. By the way am sure u heard about how drake doesn't write some of his songs but yet gets nominations every freaking year. Well, in the Hip Hop world it's a big deal but outside its nothing. Many people have written songs for great artists like Beyonce and Rihanna. That's why credits are given when due to the writer/composer. |

Anazp: look kidjo is beating burna to it. burna even sampled her song we we almost a whole verse on anybody. Ain't saying Burna will win. Am saying his album is a very strong contender. Again sampling someone else's song don't mean nothing. Puff daddy sampled some lines from Grand master flash ' the message' but ended up producing a better album. In Jay Z and Justin Timberlake song holy grail, some lines from the then rock band Nirvana's song, 'smells like teen spirit, ' was sampled but jayz ended up making a fantastic album. It's about Who u respect, not who u think is better than u. Don't forget Jay Z sampling nas song 'dead presidents' too. That was just respect bro. |

Anazp: Angelique's tribute to Cuban singer Celia Cruz was released on April 19, 2019. It is produced by David Donatien and featured Tony Allen , Meshell Ndegeocello and the Gangbe Brass Band . The Guardian has called the album "magnificent" [20] and The Financial Times gave it 5 stars. The same the Guardian that just gave cold play's new album that's about to be released in the US tomorrow a mixed review. A cold play album that's better than their previous 4 albums. |
Music/Radio › Re: Why Angelique Kidjo Is Burna Boy’s Biggest Threat In Grammy Awards Category by blowjohn(m): 2:28pm On Nov 21, 2019 |
LifestyleTonite: The news currently getting Nigerians excited is the Grammy Awards nomination of African Giant album by Burna Boy.
Burna Boy got nominated for Best World Music Album.
Best World Music Album:
Gece — Altin Gün What Heat — Bokanté & Metropole Orkest Conducted By Jules Buckley African Giant — Burna Boy Fanm D’ayiti — Nathalie Joachim With Spektral Quartet Celia — Angelique Kidjo
While many Nigerians believe he would bring the award home, no one seems to be taking into consideration the competition against him.
Right about now, his biggest competition from Africa is Angelique Kidjo who has been nominated nine times and won 3 times.
Two out of the three awards she has won came from the Best World Music Album category, while the third award was gotten from the Best Contemporary World Music Album category.
Asides the fact that she has won the award three times, Angelique Kidjo has had a successful year in music. She has shut down many top European and American concert arenas with awesome live performances.
Some of the concert arenas she shut down this year:
Royal Albert Hall
Elbphilharmonie in Hambourg
Auditorium Parco della Musica – Roma
Villa Arconati – Milano
Carrington at Kongsberg jazz festival, Norway
Her concert schedule sees her preparing to perform in more top European and American auditoriums. With all these, it is quite clear that it won’t be a walk in the park for Burna Boy.
Below are pictures from her concerts as found on her Instagram Page .
https://wotzup.ng/why-angelique-kidjo-is-burna-boys-biggest-threat-in-grammy-awards-category/ OP concert pictures can't prove how good an artist is or how good an album is. Even a picture of Nas or Jay Z singing in a room would sell faster than Soulja Boy rapping inside a stadium. I agree with u on some of ur points but take note that the Grammyz always love a fresh new air that's worth their time. Alternative rock albums were always close to winning the award of album of the year( the most prestigious of the awards) until Arcade Fire album, 'the suburbs,' won it and it won against veterans like Lady Gaga and Eminem. Also, pound for pound, burna boy's album is unarguably one of the greatest Nigerian albums of this modern era. The grammyz know quality when they hear one so let's keep our fingers crossed and see what happens. Finally: this category of best world album has had the likes of the kutis nominated several times too. If u ask me, I think burna boy's African Giant as a cohesive, yet diverse body of songs beats those of the kutis. |

Republican operative and self-proclaimed “dirty trickster” guilty on seven criminal counts, including lying to lawmakers about WikiLeaks
tampering with witnesses and obstructing a House intelligence committee investigation into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to tip the US 2016 election.
The verdict, in a trial arising from former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, is not only a blow to Stone but renews
scrutiny on Trump’s actions as a candidate at a time when he faces an impeachment inquiry that could derail his presidency.[img]A jury convicted US President Donald Trump’s longtime adviser Roger Stone on Friday on all charges, finding the long-time
