PoliticsRe: Is Lagos State Wrong For Selling Seized Vehicles? by Blue3k(op): 8:24pm On Apr 23, 2021
jaxxy:
Like u said and I stand on what I say. There is no reason to auction people’s cars. I don’t know the procedures in place b4 they auction them bt I hope there is a grace period to sort out their offenses b4 cruelly auctioning sm1 property for a Traffic offense.

Also Lagos has way too many bad roads for so long to be going extremely hard on motorists. That was even my major reason.

2ndly some motorists don’t know certain routes are one way because it wasn’t labeled.

3. Some officials setup motorists just to fine and extort them. We have heard about many of such cases.
Lol you're arguing a topic you didn't care to educated yourself on interesting. Anyway the 1st excuse is for the birds. How did anybody get their license not know not to drive against traffic? The other two are reasonable and court would probably see it your way. Lastly whats good for the goose is good for the gander don't break laws whether your herdsman or motorist if you can't take the punishment.
PoliticsRe: Is Lagos State Wrong For Selling Seized Vehicles? by Blue3k(op): 8:06pm On Apr 23, 2021

U can’t compare terrorism and banditry with common traffic offense. Pls reason properly.

I’d cows were not banned in certain areas because of this growing menace of insecurity they won’t be banned.

It is not about cows the what they have been used and cause in communities.
It's reasonable to compare idiots driving against traffic to the other sets of murders. Anyone who doesn't want their car auctioned should pay their fines before the state sells off their vehicle. I'm glad you don't deny the traffic offenders don't cause damage, deaths and havoc. You just want to pretend they're not so bad so we should go easy on them.
PoliticsRe: Is Lagos State Wrong For Selling Seized Vehicles? by Blue3k(op): 7:49pm On Apr 23, 2021
jaxxy:
The gravity of the offense is the difference. Hope Ure satisfied?

Cows have been warn to avoid certain areas we they cause destruction of other people’s properties and clashes btw herdsmen and citizens which lead to a lot of destruction and bandits use the herdsmen as disguise to cause terror in communities so yes it’s very different.

Herdsmen are now synonymous with terror so they have been banned from certain areas. It is right to seize the cows and do whatever they please with them.
The reason you're providing isnt logical or sufficient. Anyone driving on the road knows the rules because they have a license and went to drivers education. They know better than to violate traffic laws or risk getting fined and vehicles impounded. Bad drivers kill hundreds and cause accidents that cost people millions every year. In essence herdsmen and drivers both know better, cause deaths and inflict financial cost on victims.

However, I believe that vehicles that are arrested for driving against the flow of traffic should be crushed rather than auctioned.

I also believe that the government should put up more road signs like the Fashola Administration did.
Dude why spam the thread twice? You don't need to post a whole article to explain your point. Just type out relevant quotes or simply type relevant info then link the thread.

Crushing vehicles would be wasteful and dumb. There's no reason to destroy a perfectly good asset especially when selling the car would net more than selling scap metal.

Both car and cow auctioning states
Lagos has the laws on their books and people can go to court. Ondo said they're going to start auctioning cattle soon.

Cow and Car comparison huh
dandollaz:
For you want to compare cow and cattle. Why I'm I in this country.
jaxxy:
The offense are quite different, the situations quite different and I wonder what cows has got to do with auctioning vehicles. What is comparison for? Is cow ur means of transportation or u vandalised people’s farm with it??
They're both private property so it's comparable. They're both worth around the same amount depending on the age of the vehicle. I don't get why you're acting dumb. Now answer what's the logical difference between the state siezing a cow and car then auctioning?

FarahAideed:
Do they get a solidly contested forfeiture order from the courts before selling? Or they sell under the auspice of executive order ?
Which state are you referring to?

PoliticsRe: Dakkada Tower: When Are IOCs Relocating their Headquarters To Akwa Ibom? by Blue3k(op): 3:33pm On Apr 23, 2021
The question remains whe will IOCs relocate the HQ. This skyscraper was constructed for this purpose but the state didn't bother getting any signed agreements. Ths was a glaring issue with project but people were too dense to see that. The building is complete and we still waiting on updates on who is going relocate.

We Niger Deltans have been too weak in our demands.
A directive given by the VP for ALL IOCs to move their headquaters to their operational bases was disobeyed, yet we allow them to still drill and pump oil.
Directives aren't laws since this isn't a dictatorship. The president can't arbitrarily tell any business to relocate since there HQ.

I think the issue has never been about lack of offices. Besides, Lagos is now an oil producing state. Then, the strident calls were that Lagos is not an oil producing state but it has since changed.
Lagos was producing oil in 2018 when they embarked on this project. Did their whole argument for relocating there hinge on that singular fact?

PoliticsDakkada Tower: When Are IOCs Relocating their Headquarters To Akwa Ibom? by Blue3k(op):
The stated goal of building Dakkada Towers towers was to attract IOCs like mobil Nigeria to relocate the headquarters to Akwa ibom. Now that its complete we've yet to see one make a firm commitment on moving the HQ. Mobil has taken a tour stating they're still thinking about the decision years after being informed about the project. When do these IOCs plan on relocating to their HQ to the state?

For years, Akwa Ibom suffered from dearth of international standard office accommodations for world class corporate organizations as well as International Oil Companies, IOCs, some of which operate in the state but with operational base and headquarters in other cities, a situation which deprived the state of huge internally generated revenues, IGR.

As a leader committed to the overall development of the state in all sectors, Governor Emmanuel saw the turn-key high rise office building as a bait for the oil companies which hitherto laid claims to lack of suitable business accommodations as the major hindrance to the relocation of their headquarters and operational base to Akwa Ibom State.
It is notable that with the very friendly government policies, so many investors have been attracted to Akwa Ibom while some others such as ExxonMobil and Black Rhino have gone ahead to register their intent to share in the opulence of the 21 storey commercial business accommodation.

Acting on information from an anonymous informer, Chinese officers found the organs in 36 boxes labelled as plantains (cooking bananas) inside a refrigerated container on a ship harboured in the Shanghai Port.

Chinese General Administration of Customs spokesman, Li Wu, says an increasingly large number of armed groups in Africa use organ trafficking to finance themselves, making such seizures predictable.

“These organs are common commodities now, but they were certainly harvested in unsanitary conditions or contaminated at some point, so we can’t let them out on the Chinese market.”

Mr. Li says the organs were shipped from Lagos in Nigeria but may have only transited through that country and could possibly originate from elsewhere in Africa.

“We know that joysticks from Lybia and Sudan fetch a higher price than those from other African war zones, but can’t presume of their origin before the end of the investigation.”

Human joysticks were seized in nine cases since 2002, but today’s find represents more than four times the amount seized by customs officers over the past 18 years.

Describing the organ’s value as high as illegal drugs, he said that “specimens of this size” usually fetched around $160,000 each on the black market,  and its total value was more than $1.15 billion.

The ship’s crew, four Nigerians, two Malians and two Cameronese are being detained for interrogation, but no charges have yet been filed against them.

You called a port that is 23 nautical miles from the ocean a river port? Some of you have never even seen a port all your lives that is why you yarn rubbish.

The onne seaport is situated at the Bonny river estuary. Bonny river empties directly into the ocean with onne port sitting at almost 50 nautical miles away from the ocean. Just like Azumini river empties into the ocean with Obuaku seaport sitting at a shorter distance of 23 nautical miles away from the ocean.

So tell, why would Onne be called seaport while Obuaku will be called river port. Or rather show me one sea port that was ever built on top of an ocean. Do you consider the elements and unpredictability of the water bodies. Do you think experts that site sea ports some nautical miles away from the actual oceans are stupid?

Infact, let work begin sha.
Both are river ports.
