GloriousGbola:PENGASSAN has directed its branches in Shell, Total, Oando, Chevron, Seplat,NGIC etc to stop gas supply to Dangote Refinery. Make people go full their car tank and their generator O. Things will get rough in the coming days. Now I understand why NNPC and NURPC were unwilling to give Dangote 100% support that would make the whole country depend on the refinery for refined PMS. Everyone would always be at his mercy even when he's in the wrong

KingTom:You can imagine what a Nigerian thinks of his fellow Nigerian fighting for his right under the laws of Nigeria. What people like that don't know is that years later when that intelligent younger brother or sister they have who studied engineering finally gets that oil and gas job they think will take their family out of trenches ; Dangote and employers like him would've succeeded in casualizing labor. They would've made a mess of staff welfare that the dream job will not be what they hope it would be. That PENGASSAN they are knocking to defend Dangote's impunity is the reason people working in in that sector have reasonable staff welfare and benefits compared to people working in Indian owned factories that we hear tales of how they are not well treated. Shell has been in Nigeria before Independence and their staff are members of PENGASSAN. Why haven't shell staff sabotaged shell's operation like Dangote is alleging? |
KingTom:PENGASSAN will most likely picket Dangote Refinery premises and ground activities in conjunction with other sister trade unions. If that fails, PENGASSAN and NUPENG may go on strike which will ground economic activities in the country. All the multinationals and IOCs in the oil and gas sector like Shell, Total, Mobil, Oando, etc allowed union because it is the standard practise and it is in accordance with Labour laws. Dangote prohibiting unionism is just the usual big man impunity that Nigerian elites like to get away with. Personally, I believe Dangote is trying to test the resolve if the unions and wants to appeal to public sympathy and sentiments in his favor to the detriment of the concerned staff. Unfortunately if Dangote gets away with this, it will shape a lot of things as regards employees welfare going forward. Some foreign owned organizations will want to follow Dabgote's footsteps to hand their own staff the short end of the stick. |
According to PENGASSAN, Dangote intends to replace the sacked Nigerian staff with Indian nationals ; some of whom do not even possess valid immigration documents. This film go long. Except Federal government steps in; PENGASSAN may shut down this country in the coming days.

A former staff's comment suggesting likely reason why the staff opted to join union and why the company doesn't want them to.

Update on Dangote Vs PENGASSAN ( PENGASSAN's view)

GloriousGbola:True! |
izzou:The comments I've been seeing online as regards this Dangote Vs Union issue has made me realize one thing; most Nigerians are tyrants and would also act worse than Dangote going by how they are trying to make sense out of his decisions on this matter. Most of them think Dangote being the principal promoter of Dangote Refinery should be allowed to block staff from joining trade unions (even if that is against Nigerian labor laws). What they don't know is that other African countries Dangote has bueiness ventures like Ethiopia, Senegal,Cameroon, Ethiopia, Zambia, Tanzania, etc; he acts in accordance with the laws of those host countries. Whatever law that is in opration in those countries to protect the right of staff, he dares not contravene them if he wants to continue to enjoy smooth business operations. Just look at his senior management in Nigeria(attached letterhead), na Indians he pack full am to deal with his fellow Nigerians. In some African countries they will dictate the number of top management that must be their own citizen except they don't have any local talent to fill the role. Dangote has powerful friends in Nigeria so he will most likely win this battle sha. He will most likely ask the sacked staff to re-apply and when they do; he will give them a conditional offer. The offer for employment will be subject to a condition that they won't join any union throughout the course of their employment. I think this may be the idea behind the sack of the total workforce. It is a wicked HR strategy

Dangote has "allegedly" sacked all Nigerian employees of his refinery who joined PENGASSAN https://www.nairaland.com/8527123/dangote-refinery-sacks-nigerian-employees Word on the street is that Dangote as a group doesn't even pay well like that compared to other players in the various sectors/industry they operate; dem just get big name. Most likely the reason they are trying to frustrate efforts of staff of the oil and gas arm of the group from joining a powerful union like PENGASSAN. This film go long sha.

akwesenana:This one na agenda of over 10 years ago na. Dem don drag Olamide with the song around 2014 or thereabouts. I think they even created threads about it on nairaland where some people argued for and against the agenda. |
raumdeuter:The false accuser has already deactivated her account but seems Rudeboy has promised to use all resources at his disposal to fish her out, make her either evidence of her accusation or enter Sanko to eat watery beans. I sincerely hope he will not turn deaf ear to anybody begging him to let go. Earlier today I read about a Nollywood Yoruba actress Eniola Ajao revealing how she had a blogger locked up for 2 weeks for defaming and cyberbullying her. The lady is a protege of Odunlade Adekola and was active during the burial ceremony of Odunlade Adekola's father over a month ago. Based on a baseless rumor, the blogger alleged that the actress (Eniola) was in an illicit affair with her boss (Odunlade), hence her activeness at his father's burial. He was just sat down in his house and was fooolishly analyzing videos showing the lady at the said burial. He claimed she was moving like his mistress despite having no evidence to prove it. The lady claimed those posts made by the blogger affected her mental health portraying her as what she's not, so she petitioned the police to have him tried under the new cybercrime law. The blogger slept 2 straight weeks in custody and his 3 wives and aged mother running around begging the actress for forgiveness. They pleaded with her to drop the case before he was released eventually. Imagine a full-grown man with 3 wives concerning himself about another person's life and fooling himself online in the name of blogging. |
Theuniverse: ![]() I dey always gbadun ur takes, in fact I always look forward to it. |
izzou:This kind one , I no go gree if I’m in Rudeboy’s shoes o. No be everything supposed be cruise . Even if na person give her the “gist” , she and that person must bring their evidence out or do jail. At least let them be used as scapegoats for others that may have plans to do same in the future |

izzou:About few months ago Lagos state government issued a statement warning about flooding to come this year . They advised people living in flood prone areas and communities around the Lagos lagoon and Ogun river ( some parts of Ikorodu , Berger, Mile 12 , etc ) to relocate . I was wondering if the advisory made sense because I don’t seem to understand where they expect those people to move to . The tone of the advisory sounded like there’s nothing the government can do about the floods ; so they expect the people to resort to self help . |
raumdeuter:Nigerians typically used to adapting to all kinds of bad situations. He dey try tell u say they are used to driving in that kind of water and spending serious money to repairs. Earlier today I saw different videos from the Lekki flood including video one TikTok content creator’s Benz stuck in the flood . His dashboard was showing faulty steering rack or something like that . Only God knows how much he will spend to fix it eventually . |
raumdeuter:You see that Ikeja GRA ehn, a lot of people are sleeping on it. There was a day I drove around some parts of it; I was really sold on how sirenic, orderly and peaceful the place was. One could even see foreigners who were most likely expatriates residing there just casually enjoying the cool calm of the GRA away from the rest of the madness of central Lagos. |
afrodoc:You may not be wrong |
