Beorn:Crazy stuff. She initially got a default judgement against Tosin because he ignored her frivolous lawsuit. Tosin later got his lawyer to contest the whole nonsense and had the case thrown out. Now she's lamenting Tosin spent over 20k pounds as legal fees just to avoid paying her 11k pounds as child support ![]() |
raumdeuter:Funny thing is when the police reacted to the initial story they claimed stun gun is a weapon which is prohibited/illegal. Now they are saying it is non lethal device. They can't even be consistent all in a bid to sweep the whole thing under carpet. Anyways it's not like we were expecting anything diffrent Sha. |
This crazy lady sued Tosin for child support for her daughter. Tosin is her daughter's uncle because Tosin's brother is her baby daddy. So she's suing Tosin for child support for his brother's child 🤦♂️ All these oyinbo Craze gan o. |
Tochex101:I already acknowledged in my previous post that proper justice may not be done because of the Naija factor. BlueRayDick:Still on still , I'm saying there's no way the bank will be able to pin the incident on a low-level staff except maybe the staff was either responsible for starting the fire or was the one that failed put out the fire at the initial stage knowing that is his primary job. Every finger points to the negligence of the management from failure to provide emergency exit to failure to implement/enforce safety measures. |
GloriousGbola:How will they pin it on an employee? The company/management should be made to take the fall because clearly they didn't take health and safety of their workers really serious from the shiit show of yesterday. How can they not have emergency exit? What happened to fire extinguishers and hydrants? How did the fire get that serious without an alarm being raised at the initial stages for people to evacuate? How do they want to pin all of that on a low level employee? |
GloriousGbola:I've always known the guy behind that cloak of philanthropy and aspire to perspire mentorship image Tony Elumelu puts up. There was a time one ex-banker on LinkedIn took it upon himself to run a crusade against Nigerian banks using graduates as contract staff with poor terms of service for years. The guy called most of the banks involved in the practice out and somehow UBA's name just keeps popping up as one of those banks. A lot of contract staff shared their experiences with the guy his inbox and he was posting their complaint while protecting their identity. A whole lot of the UBA contract staff had bitter tales to tell. At some point the guy tagged Elumelu himself and he promised to look into it. I doubt if he did eventually because the other banks that either converted their contract staff or increased their salary the guy mentioned them, but I can't remember the guy mentioning UBA for doing likewise. |
iamoyindamola:U can see how dishonest they are with their press statement claiming they ensured safety of all the workers. Smh They know people will drag them, especially relatives of the victims; that is why they blocked comments on their social media pages. |
YoungB1a:Eeeyah. Sorry for ur loss |
Apparently people died in the incident. People are already calling UBA out for the terse and ambiguous statement they released. https://x.com/ourfavonlinedoc/status/1968106939767988663?s=46
|
popizaino:Sorry for ur loss bro. Praying for u and ur family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. |
iamoyindamola:I don't think so. The electrical wiring of most of those houses they converted to shop in that axis is terrible. Also, some of them keep their generator and fuel on their respective floors instead of the ground floor. So some of those fire incidents are caused by electric spark when NEPA brings light and then the fire is escalated by the fuel and generator they keep on their shop floors. The fact that the buildings are too close to each other makes it difficult for the fire to be put off by fire service and volunteers. I have witnessed some of those fire before. |
iamoyindamola:Yes, the market side. Some shops were affected |
izzou:Baba na Tony Elumelu get that building. I dey marina the day Sanwoolu commissioned it around 2020 before Covid lockdown |
Amigoss:Omo ! 😲 See how statement lack any form of empathy . They even referred to building owned by their oga as “ a building on broad street “ 🤦♂️ |
Theflint1:There are people who would have serious health complications much long after this incident is forgotten due to the smoke they’ve inhaled before they were rescued . Normally people like that should be able to sue the bank in the future but I doubt if such lawsuit will go anywhere if they file it in Nigeria . That’s Nigeria being Nigeria |
Ibime:You may not be wrong. The person I spoke with told me one of the workers who escaped "unhurt" was coughing and spitting out black Saliva/Phlegm in her presence. Somehow the local media has been quite on reporting number of deaths from the incident. I have a feeling the safety concerns as per this incident will be swept under the carpet and nothing will really come out of any investigation/inquiry. |
Tochex101:Then it’s a shame that a big organization like that declaring over a trillion Naira in profit will have such big office space that lacks basic safety and emergency measures . |
iamoyindamola:Yes death o. I was told a nursing mother who just returned from maternity leave was stamped in the scramble when everyone was trying to find an exit. (PS: This is an unofficial report but an eyewitness account ) Also , there were those who passed out due to the heavy smoke and were rushed to the hospital and yet to be in stable condition as at yesterday evening . |
izzou:Even if they bought the building, they could’ve modified it to include safety futures like smoke detector and automatic water sprinkler system na . Dem really fumble in that aspect and obviously didn’t do enough to safeguard the life of their workers. As recent as last month we had the fire alarm go off in the tower housing our office and we all had to make it down to the assembly point downstairs ASAP via the emergency exit . It was discovered it was just a minor incident caused by electrical issue on one of the floors that made the alarm go off sounding for everyone to evacuate the building . The floor was isolated by the facility managers , the incident was properly dealt with and we were later allowed to go back to our respective work stations after everything had been sorted out. I believe if that kind of system is in place in that Afriland towers , they would’ve evacuated the building and the whole fire incident won’t have gone that bad like it did . |
GloriousGbola:I just got off the phone with someone who works close to the building , I was told the building has just elevator (lift) and no staircase for emergency evacuation . I don’t know how true that is but if that is the case , it means the building has poor design as far as safety is concerned like u rightly pointed out. I was also told all doors to each floor are accessible via ID card key/biometrics . Immediately the fire started , those stopped working due to the outage of power . So the workers were confined to their respective floors hence why they were jumping through the windows of their respective floors . Omo! The facility managers have a whole lot of questions to answer , but then again this is Nigeria sha anything goes . I learnt there were fatalities due to the smoke some of the workers inhaled . If that is true , I wonder why it has not made the news yet ; maybe UBA is using their influence to suppress the news sha |
E be like say Obasa and Sanwoolu wan start round 2 of their battle for the soul of Lagos.
|
Singapore1:That was why I said during the last match that if he can work on his shooting , he will give Saka a run for his money . He already has decent dribbling skills to his advantage |
Tochex101:That building ought to have smoke detectors which should’ve long alerted them while the fire was still at the initial stage . That way, an evacuation of the building would’ve been done quite early and nobody would’ve been injured . It will be a shame if that modern office building doesn’t have smoke detector and automatic water sprinkler sef . |
Ibime:😂😂😂😂 |
Happening Now : Fire outbreak at Afriland towers (owned by UBA group ) at Marina , Lagos Island .
Workers are literally jumping out of the window to escape the fire. But I don’t want to believe a modern building like this won’t have a smoke detector/ water sprinkler system na . I think this particular building was commissioned around 2021/2022. |
raumdeuter:As in..... ![]() The urge to believe anything other than the simple truth in their front will have them imagining stupid line of thought into existence. We were all here on October 7 2023 when we read the news of Hamas firing over 5,000 rockets into Israeli airspace. Some of them even on this nairaland celebrated it along with the killings which Hamas quickly claimed responsibility. Today we dey read say na Israel use Hamas carry out the attack against its own citizens. Source: Trust Me , I no fit lie for you. |
KingTom:Awada kerikeri ![]() |

iamoyindamola:😂 The weyrey deserve the slap 👋 |
izzou: izzou:The people u see today on this thread acting all Anti-Israel/Pro-Palestine were either in joyous mood on Oct 7 2023 or silently pleased with Hamas attacking Israel even when we all knew how it will end from the beginning. |
TrebleChamp:That is exactly what they have been doing but u keep complaining. They've been going after Hamas terrorists who have been cowardly hiding in hospitals and amongst civilian population. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cp3y046q91no Tell Hamas to come out and fight like Jihadist they claim to be and stop martyring their "innocent" brothers and sisters. They even prevented their fellow Palestinians from evacuating from the conflict zone. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/hamas-tells-gaza-residents-stay-home-israel-ground-offensive-looms-2023-10-13/ https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/defense-news/article-866195 https://www.timesofisrael.com/israel-says-hamas-preventing-gaza-city-evacuation-but-70000-have-left-anyway/ When Israel was fighting Iran band for band few months ago and they (Israel) had the upper hand, u kept complaining almost on a daily basis. Something tells me u don't really care about those Palestinian as u would want us to believe, rather u just don't want Israel carrying out a successful military operation against any of their enemies who have coming for them and getting whipped silly. I have gone back to our discussions on this thread on 7th October 2023 and nowhere did I see you condemn Hamas in the wake of that Oct 7 attack despite the fact that u were actively online o. |
Amoto94:Gibberish as usual. Tell us how October 7 attack by Hamas is an Israeli false flag operation or run away cowardly like you normally do. Tell us how the attacks which the perpetrators have since taken credit for was planned by Israel. Tell us how Israel in the so called false flag operation kidnapped Israeli citizens held them hostage, but the hostages somehow turned up in Hamas' custody. Maybe u don't know some of these conspiracy theories u people are parroting about is just one or two steps away from lunacy. |
