Spy360:The good thing is you can still make a decent living in any of the outskirts areas of Lagos. With a barbing salon, tailor shop, or even ordinary football viewing center you can make decent living in the hinterland of Lagos, but same can't be said about most towns in other states. |
DeepSight:Exactly! What is only expected is that other states should at least not be so far behind if they have good leaders who are mindful of developing their states. Lagos has a lot of advantages that can never be overlooked. I remember finishing NYSC and getting a job less than 2 months after returning to Lagos. Most of my friends whom we served together returned to their respective states and some didn't get meaningful jobs 2 years after POP because most banks and other companies recruit from their head office in Lagos. At some point some of them had to later settle for teaching jobs and support it with farming and other petty source of income. It's unfrotaunte somebstsye governors just decide to be unfortunate |
Rejoinder to this ; Crystal palace will get £10m as add-on from Eze transfer contract should Arsenal win the EPL. The good thing is Arsenal is playing Palace on the last game day with potential £10m on the line. More interestingly City will will play palace too 🤩 BlueRayDick: |
izzou:I agree 100%. Most of the leaders just care about looting their states, and go to senate to retire. |
TemporaryHansel:Of course I agree the other states and their governors have not tried especially states like Bayelsa and co when we juxtapose the resources available to them with development on ground. But we also need to be fair that some states are younger than others. Some states were just created as stand alone states in 1996 while there are states that have been in existence since the 70's. Some of those new states had to start from scratch because they were marginalized initially in the old arrangement which necessitated them being brought out of a much bigger state. Still it's no excuse that some of the states and their governors have been terribly poor. |
MorataFC:I think what you should've said was that Jonathan 4ck up not playing politics well pre-election which led to his loss at the polls. You can't say he shouldn't have conceded an election he clearly lost. Trust me be it Buhari or a Tinubu that lost election as incumbent? They have no choice but to concede defeat. You can say both aforementioned wouldn't lose elections as incumbent and I will agree with you 100%, but saying they wouldn't concede defeat means u don't know to start chaos can be very easy in this country. |
TemporaryHansel:There's no way every state can be like Lagos. Why? Because the strategic advantage Lagos had over the years, most states don't have it. Forget all those political lamba about one person building Lagos. Lagos had a whole lot of strategic advantage that dates back to the 60's. Jakande built low cost housing estate as governor as far back as early 80's. Federal government built FESTAC as far back as the mid to late 70's. How many states could boast of that kind of development those same period? The truth is other states will only play catch up. What one can only pray and hope for is that other states shouldn't be so far behind as tbey are currently. |
Crystal palace is our last game of the season and it’s looking like Palace manager may have no choice but to field a weak team against us. Palace will be playing conference league final just 3 days after our match against them in the EPL and as such , they will need their best players to start in that final . This will leave the coach with no choice but to rest some of his players against us. The palace manager is already under fire with media piling pressure on him about the situation . He told the media in pre- match media conference that Palace vs Arsenal is just 1 out of the 38 matches Arsenal are expected to play this season . Let the other coaches responsible for the other 37 matches play take responsibility of those games too. It just seem as if everything is now happening in Arsenal’s favor . I hope and pray our team will take advantage of all these and bring home the trophy . Win all our matches , then watch Brentford and Bournemouth slug it out with city go take as many points as they can off them 🙅♂️ |
izzou:Peaceful keh? A civil war may breakout with the northers going berserk. The Niger Delta militants on the other hand will likely ground the nation by stopping oil from flowing out the region. When that happens, foreign powers like the US, UK, etc who have financial interest in the oil flowing out of a "peaceful Nigeria" would have no.choixe but to intervene and right ghe wrongs. It will still end in Jonathan being sent packing Las Las. So like Jonathan said, is his ambition worth that much blood being shed? |
iamoyindamola:Exactly? How can anybody see what happened in 2011 when corpers were killed in the north post-election and then the person should now say nothing would've happened if Jonathan didn't concede in 2015? Omo! Real blood would have flowed in that 2015 o. |
MorataFC:How can you say if he hadn't conceded defeat nothing would've happened? Ha! 😲😲😲 Na wetin you know, you know ó. I was in the north during this period and I can boldly tell you that the nation would've gone up in flames had Jonathan done anything other than concede victory that march 2015. Election took place on Saturday, On Sunday while collation was ongoing everywhere was tense. Till Monday evening, most non-northerners in the area I was then were careful not to move anyhow. Nobody wants to be caught napping when the final results are announced or if the president takes a decision/makes an announcement that can jeopardize one's life. There was tension everywhere, people glued to their TV and radios with different speculations being hushed in silent tones. Big apprehension everywhere. To make matters worse, we were called by the returning officer of our LGA to come and re-arrange some of the electoral materials we used Saturday. We travelled down to the INEC office there in the morning, did what we were asked to do all through the afternoon and set out to return to base in the evening. It was while we were like 20 minutes away to our residence on the way we heard Jonathan had already called Buhari. Come and see northerners celebrating with tension that was hanging in the air giving way for celebration. We literally saw people traveling in trailers, buses and cars come down to dance and celebrate on the express. All of us heaved a sigh of relief at that moment because the uncertainty that hung everywhere had just cleared. There was every indication that things would've turned upside down if Jonathan had done any other thing than conceding defeat in that election. I am sure you are aware there has been revelations from some northern APC guys that they brought in some fulani guys from other African countries who were going to fight till their last breath if Buhari had not been declared winner despite official results showing he's clearly leading.(Some say that's the origin of the Fulani herdsmen menace that has snowballed into kidnapping and terrorism). I don't even think they were willing to go for run-off elections had their been a close call between Jonathan and Buhari when final results are announced. Jonathan may be a weak man for how he run his government, pampered northerners in his government, appointed a fairly independent minded northerner as INEC chairman (Unlike Tinubu who appointed Amupitan a Yoruba person who has been exposed to be pro-Tinubu/pro-APC), etc..... But Jonathan is not a weak man for conceding defeat to Buhari...... I am not really a fan of Jonathan, but I think you are only talking based on hindsight. Jonathan was the GCFR who must have had access to top intelligence report about possible breakdown of law and order from DSS and other intelligence sources. I will say he acted in the interest of peace and he shouldn't be chastised for that. Let's also not forget pressure that will come from foreign powers had Jonathan decided not to concede result of the election. I don't think countries like the UK and US would fold their hands and allow him get away with him. Remember it wasn't like he enjoyed massive support from them in the first place (US government in particular). Let's not forget what happened in Ivory Coast when Laurent Gbagbo refused to concede an election. |
raumdeuter:Exactly! Some of those companies spend resources to train and build talents to their perfection. The resources people like Tosin would not spend but be expecting to jam top talent that will be crushing on their company. A former colleague told me about a friend of his wife. The guy made a first class in maths and stats , very sharp guy. He joined Axa Mansard as a graduate trainee. Axa being a global company sent him to Axa's head office in Paris, France where he was undergoing training as an actuary and getting paid in Euros. When the guy came back to Nigeria after about 2 years, he moved like 6 steps at once in cadre. The guy was so loaded that they had no choice but to move him up the ladder He instantly became one of the top decision makers in the Nigerian office. They weren't going around looking for ready-made talent to fill a senior role, they made him into one. |
GloriousGbola:It's not easy to hammer with a start-up normally. Nobody will hammer with one start-up and then voluntarily give it up to go through the rigors of starting a new one. I think his best bet is to allow some of his investors to bring in capable hands who can run and manage a business effectively. Managing a business goes beyond a tech guy reading management books and doing trial & error |
izzou:You see now....This is the problem with some Nigerian businesses they will learn everything from their foreign conterparts except how to treat staff well and give them required training |
GloriousGbola:Can you just imagine? So his PR/Corporate communications team are amateurs who messed up by using an unauthorized photograph for advert. Instead of using sense to solve the issue by involving their legal team & PR team, they went ahead to create a legal mess by taking the man's authorization under duress. The man needs professionals to help run the human side of business o. He should just focus on being techie and coding . |
izzou:He has some points but he 4ck up with his final submission. The thing is all these tech companies need to start giving youngings chance into mentorship/internship roles where they can learn and grow then transition into senior roles in the future. His approach of looking for ready-made talents to fill senior roles will not work. Blaming Nigerian education system, Yahoo Yahoo and youth's laziness for his inability to fill that senior role will not work at all. There's a reason why the big 4's , oil companies, Banks and other financial services firms recruit graduate trainees every year to give smart fresh graduates a chance to learn, grow and transition into whatever career path the organizations figure they will excel based on their performance in the graduate trainee programs. There's nothing like unemployability of Nigerian graduates. He should give them the required trainings, develop talents for the future and see if he won't see those same youth flying high in the nearest future. Shebi the current GMD of Zenith bank joined the bank as a fresh graduate during her NYSC, look at her today. Let Tosin too invest in fresh graduates instead of looking for ready-made talents wey don japa go saner climes to live where there is security and peace of mind |
germaphobe:As in.... The way Gabriel puts everything on the line to defend with all his heart is a beauty to behold. We really owe him and Raya for saving the team countless times when it matter most. I think if we win the EPL he has a strong claim to EPL's player of the season. |
Spy360:Jontahan has no business running for presidency in 2027. Jonathan's tenure was a mess-up and that culminated in his eventual loss at the 2015 polls. Jonathan should just enjoy his retirement in peace; the honour that was bestowed on him for conceding defeat at the 2015 polls will be battered if he decides to be head strong and run for the 2027 polls. Away from that, there's the issue of Jonathan already sworn in twice as president of this country. If he runs for presidency in 2027 and we assume hypothetically he wins, there will be issues surrounding him being sworn in as president the 3rd time. I believe there are already cases in court by various entities contesting his eligibility to contest for president at the 2027 elections. |
William Saliba with his hands on his head after a poor back pass as Gabriel produced a goal-saving block in the Champions League semi-final second leg.Gabriel has been the best of the duo this season arguably our best player this season. Only Raya comes close to how important Gabriel has been for the team this season.
|
I learnt If Aston Villa should win Europa, the team that finishes 6th in the League will play Champions league. Bournemouth is currently 6th and Brentford is 7th on the table with just one point between the two teams. Guess who the two teams have to meet before the end of the season? MAN CITY! I think the stars keep aligning for us..... Everythjng just points to the fact that this year may actually be our year if we just keep our head in the game.... If things play out well we may even be league champions before final day. |
GloriousGbola:NNPC was not the sole importer of Petrol when Dangote cried about the Sulphur content of petrol. Please check your info again. How can Dangote be calling out NNPC in 2024 when NNPC had stopped being sole importer of PMS in 2023? |
abduleez1:You must really think typing long paragraphs is the same as making a factual argument. 1. You called out people "shouting Monopoly" because of Dangote's investments. I gave you reasons why those people are within their rights to "shout monopoly" because indeed Dangote is eyeing Monopoly by his actions and even his open demand to government to ban import license. 2. You claim Dangote is right to call for importation ban because he cares about Nigerians having access to "good fuel". I told you Dangote is not the regulator and he needs not worry about whether we buy "good or bad fuel "Let the regulators do their job and let Dangote sell his "good fuel" without calling for importation ban to stifle competition. 3. You made claims I rebutted with fact and then you turn back to claim I'm doing that because I don't like Dangote. I have no choice but to tell you what I observed right from you first post on this discussion. You are clearly obsessed with Dangote and would sing his praises to high heaven. You would rubbish every other player in the market because you believe Dangote is the only begotten savior that is the SI unit of honesty in doing business 4. There are a whole lot of things I know and I'm inclined to tell you, but on a second thought I think there's isn't any need for it. Not like I'm getting paid to do this sef. Enjoy your night |
GloriousGbola:Most times when filling station sell water instead of fuel inside people's tank it's usually because the underground tank of the filling station collapsed after a heavy rainfall and rain water gets into the underground tank. When that happens, the filling station won't know until they dispense to customers who also don't know immediately till their vehicles develop fault and they then trace it to the last fuel they bought. This is not a made-up story but a lived experience I come to know in the course of my professional.career. As regards the marketers and bad fuel I can seay you are making my point for me. You claim marketers take bad fuel issues seriously and that's like you agreeing with my point since morning. Dangote was crying foul in an attempt to discredit every other player when he brought the story of sulphuric fuel up. NMDPRA defended the marketers by positing that those marketers fuel pass the standard testing required. If anybody has issues with bad fuel, the onus is ó such person to sue the marketer and then join NMDPRA in the suit as vicariously liable for not doing their regulatory oversight as requested. |
GloriousGbola:Me and you know the issue we have with enforcement of laws in this country. But u are not seriously saying Oando, Total, Mobil, MRS, Rain Oil and other reputable major marketers were importing bad fuel for years before Dangote's refinery came on board? It's possible there are unscrupulous marketers who bring in bad PMS who had one or two corrupt officials in NMDPRA clear their products, but that doesn't mean each and every other marketer are guilty of the same. Yes Kpo fire petrol is difficult to refine but it doesn't mean it's not being done. Go to Rivers state(especially those Riverine areas), they will tell you some of those Filling stations do actually sell Kpo Fire petrol. Things dey happen for Nigeria and you can't use what you only know to happen in one location to judge what happens everywhere else. I rest my case. |
abduleez1:But it's the same fuel that was cleared by NNPC and their sister agency you've been using since the days of "I pass my neighbor generator" till Dangote fuel came on board. People have been using that same fuel in their vehicles since time immemorial without their engine knocking. Remember I told you that you were pivoting off topic? That's what you are doing again with talks about the $3 billion NNPC refinery TAM. I do not speak for NNPC and have no soft spot for them. I am only speaking to the fact that you believe every other player in the oil and gas industry is bad (including the regulator) but Dangote is the only saint. It is only naivety and Dangote dick-riding that would make anyone believe such. On this note, I rest my case. |
GloriousGbola:Your question should be directed at NMDPRA and not me. Do you know if the lab called it and a corrupt official at NMDPRA still went ahead to clear it? The lab's job is to present result of the test to the regulators and let them take decisions based on the result. Then have you thought about kpo fire as the source of those so called adulterated fuel? For all we know, a filling station may stock kpo fire PMS, Sell to the public and then people begin to complain about importation of bad fuel when in fact the fuel was not imported but refined illegally in the heart of Niger Delta. Nigeria is a complex country and NMDPRA is not perfect. But Dangote and his propaganda machine are also not the SI unit of honesty. |
abduleez1:Apparently you don't believe in facts, rather you would believe beer parlor gists and your own biased opinions. Initially you claim there are no labs that meets world class standard that can test sulphuric content of Fuel in Nigeria. I debunked that by showing you that indeed such labs exist. I told Dangote's is and interlex's are reputable. So what do you do? You believe Dangote's is all that, but the independent is not because it is what NMDPRA uses to clear imported fuels. 😆😆😆 See, just give it a rest. Dangote dick-riding is expected from anybody who sees Dangote as god-of-investment in human form, but no be everybody go swallow the propaganda by Dangote to portray himself as the only market player that does honest business. By the way, I have nothing against Dangote and his investment once he lives and let live. |
germaphobe:You get! A lot of our players have had their ups and down this season. We've criticized them at verious times for how they've been faltering and we praised them when they live up to expectation. There's no need pulling Havertz down or trying to undermine his contribution because Gyokeres is now doing well. Gyokeres had his trying times too with heavy touches, wrong positioning and terrible shots that didn't find back of the net when they should. Me I just want the team as a whole to do well. Let Gyokeres bang in goals, let our Midfielders rack up assists and our defenders help our goalkeeper keep as many clean sheets as possible. Let everybody play their part and let's have the trophies in the bag. |
GloriousGbola:The lab in question is not owned by NMDPRA, It is an independently run lab. Anybody can have grouse with NMDPRA, but you can't rubbish integrity of an Independent lab because you don't trust/like NMDPRA. The same NMDPRA allows Dangote to use his own in-house lab so why then will Dangote and his fans have issues with NMDPRA relying on results from an independent lab to conclude not all imported fuel are adulterated? |
abduleez1:You are one funny individual. You believe Dangote whose refinery is a few years old, but you don't believe the regulator that has been testing and confirming the sulphuric content of Petroleum products long before Dangote thought of building a refinery? You asked for lab where NMDPRA tests imported Petroleum products so let me answer you. They either use independent laboratory or an in-house laboratory like Dangote's at his refinery. One major independent lab they use is intertek. See below link to intertek's website to check for yourself https://www.intertek.com/petroleum/cargo/nigeria/ I know you are obsessed with Dangote and you believe him to be a god-in-investor-form that was sent to build Nigeria, but at least don't rubbish every other entity wey dey try while trying to praise Dangote 🙏 PS: I didn't respond to other parts of your post because you were conflating multiple issues and moving the discussion away from the initial premise |
abduleez1:People don't just invest in businesses because they have billions, most of them invest in businesses they have passion for and can find enough expertise for. They also look at businesses that have chances of turning their capital over and not just because they believe the market is open. In fact there are business you will start today in Nigeria that if you are not careful you will run out of raw materials to use in production. I won't blame billionaires in the banking and financial services if they choose not to go into production and manufacturing. I think our focus should be on government using money recovered from corrupt public officials to use start some of these industries. Also those money they recover from Paris club, Abacha loot, etc, that's what they should be utilizing those money for. Not for them to be sharing as one nonsense conditional cash transfer that won't really do anything for anybody. That's what It means to think from consumption to production. |
abduleez1:It is not In Dangote's place to act as the operator by determining who imports what. There is a regulator who determines the quality of fuel that can be imported. Dangote should let the regulators do their job while he minds his own business of selling refined products. Dangote has been caught in web of propaganda in the past, so taking his word on matters that concerns competitor as the gospel truth is just you letting yourself drawn in by the antics of a cutthroat business man. I hope you know NMDPRA actually debunked the allegations by Dangote that imported PMS had excessive sulphuric content? |
