I think BB Naija falloff is due to not just one factor sha. There's the massive drop in the number of DSTV customers; most people have packed up their DSTV and GOTV decoders because of incessant hike in subscription fees with no service improvement.

In the past I used to be one of those customers who would lament about DSTV signal during rainfall. However, with the advent of unlimited internet packages like MTN fiber X, Airtel ODU, Starlink, etc, some of those customers like me sought alternative in streaming sites, Android TV, Fire Stick and other alternatives to DSTV where we get premium entertainment value without rewarding multichoice for poor service offering.

The hardship in Nigeria sef is another factor. Some people who would struggle to do GOTV/DSTV sub and fuel their generator to watch BB Naija in the past have decided to channel their resources to more pressing needs. Person wey dey belle dey turn no go think of BB Naija. They will just buy data and follow BB Naija on TikTok and IG.

Sometimes all these Nigerian movies wey dey bait foreign awards/recognition go dey do some things to appeal to foreign audience which ends up making things looking weird to a Nigerian audience, that was what happened with some of their shots.

Even some of the conversations, especially those that involved secondary characters felt very unnatural.

I'm glad you saw the issues too. I understand if a foreign movie/series like Blacklist shows a scene or two from Nigeria and they start speaking a Nigerian Language with funny accents, but for a movie that's supposed to be Nigerian movie with Nigerian actors? Nah!

Maybe over the weekend if I have time I will try to complete the movie and if I will agree with Ur overall rating Sha. From the majority part I've watched, I feel they could've done better.

You see this point? This is my biggest grouse with the producers/director of the movie. The attempt at depicting Nigeria during the June 12 1993 elections was just so forced. They had to zoom camera angles too close when shooting scenes that involved walking on the streets.

Also, they didn't get their time value of money right at all. How person go enter N100 naira bus in 1993 ?

The lead character was supposed to be a Yoruba guy named Fola but somehow the guy's Yoruba accent/intonation clearly shows he's not Yoruba. I thought the guy's family were living in the village while he's hustling in Lagos only to find out his wife went to the village when he came back home from Lagos to meet the boys alone. Where the 4ck are they living that is neither Lagos nor village ?

A lot of things seemed forced in the movie, I vex abandon the movie because I was struggling to see what exactly they were trying to do with the disjointed storyline and too many plot hole.

I commend the two boy's acting tho. That's like the first time I'm seeing Nigerian kid actors play their role perfectly well without necessary starring into the camera

My Father's Shadow on Netflix is a really good movie.

I was not impressed one bit.

I have a lot to say in negative about this movie , like I was so disappointed I didn't finish watching it. I watched close to 1 hour of the movie and didn't see the "really good" in its rating. I abandoned the movie with 30 minutes unwatched.
