You're missing the point. The comparison was about lifestyle feel, not raw financial power.

Of course, $200M is a whole different league, jets, sports teams, generational wealth, no argument there. But what I'm saying is in Nigeria, $2M feels and functions like $200M does in the US.
You live large, people treat you like royalty, and you get access, comfort, and power in ways that even $10M in the US won’t buy you.

Can you buy a private jet with $2M? No. But do you need one to live like a king here? Also no. You can rent one, move around like a boss, own top-tier property, have a full staff, and still be the biggest man in most rooms, all without being anywhere near $200M rich.

So again, it's not about the dollar-to-dollar comparison. It's about impact per dollar in context.
Don't be deceived $200m in the US gives u everything u want to get in terms of comfort, power, Prestige and class. It offers much more than $2m will ever do for u in Nigeria...

The only mistake u are making is thinking sycophants waiting on you because u have $2m is. Flex in Nigeria ; no it's not. You have an illusion about the show off culture of we Africans, so it makes u think the person with $2m is actually getting to live his best life in Nigeria. He's certainly not.

Do u even know much they sell lands/properties in places like Ikoyi and banana Island?

Attached is a property for sale in Banana Island ; remove Ur almighty $2m inside the price and tell me how much remain to live that royalty lifestyle u are craving

Here in Nigeria, $2 million puts you in god mode. You’re hiring staff, living in a mansion in a high brow area, riding in a convoy with drivers, security, and assistants. You eat at the “best” places, travel when you want, get VIP treatment everywhere, and flex on half the country without breaking a sweat.

Meanwhile, in the US, $200m still comes with rules. Taxes will eat a chunk. Labor is expensive. Luxury has boundaries. Privacy is respected, and they don't worship money excessively the way we do here. You’re rich, yes, but you’re not royalty.

Here, wealth bends the system in your favor. In the US, wealth still follows the system. That’s the difference. So yeah, $2M in Nigeria can move as loud as $200m in the US, because here, money doesn’t just buy comfort, it buys power, attention, and untouchability (It all depends on if you know how to use the money though. Like I always say, having money and knowing how to use it are two completely different things. Some people have money, but no sense of how to make it work for them.)
None of what you've written here has proven that having $2m in Nigeria means u will be able to live the life people with $200m in the US are living.

Firstly I think u have a numbers problem and u don't seem to know the actual worth of the $198m difference in real life (whether in the US or Nigeria)

A whole lot of top elite retired and current footballers are not even worth up to $200m and they live far far better than anybody who has $2m in Nigeria. Before u do half of what you mentioned up there sef in this naija, that Ur $2m go Don vanish.

Do u know how much they sell private jet? Do you know much u will be paying for parking Ur private jet at the hanger in the airport? All those VIp treatment u are dreaming of sef, before u know it Ur $2m go Don vanish and the person with $200m go still dey ball even with the heavy taxes.

This whole naming of institutions after individuals makes no sense sha. They should look a more reasonable way of honoring people without distorting the prestige the names of public institutions carry.

thank you for being an educated obidient . it get tiring when we see takes sourced from twitter about self evident facts

did we not see how ganduje revoked sanusi's ownership

this is also why companies lease rather than buy land to reduce their risk

back then in the military days some people celebrate the junta would just nationalize a private company and take over its assets

this is how BP became AP as an example
The truth is we've seen facts lifted off Twitter posted by Tinubu and APC supporters that have turned out to be false too. For example the facts about the working condition of our refineries have turned out to be false over time.

Wow,All power to the government, this is even enough to make people docile and fear to hold state governments accountable...
Unfortunately that is the reality.

That's why u see some state governments demolishing properties of people that are not on good terms with the government.

Below is an article about one of such properties Wike revoked its C of O while he was governor in Rivers state.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/08/rivers-revocation-land-title-political-weapon/

Wike Literally revoked the hotel's C of O because it was the hotel Amaechi usually lodges anytime he's PH. When Wike was giving reason for its revocation, he claimed the hotel was being used to rig elections and if he doesn't do anything it would lead to breakdown of law & order. grin grin grin. He was simply using the overriding public interest reason.

Omo,it seems this contradict the 99yrs federal land use act I read somewhere

“In Yorubaland; especially in Lagos, if we sell you land, we issue you C of O which means Certificate of Occupancy. It isn't Certificate of Ownership. This means even if you buy the land, we can get it back anytime irrespective of how much you get it”.

—Lagos Dep. Gov
He's not saying anything different from what the Federal Land use act says.

The State government holds the lands in trust and issue C of O to anybody who buys land and applies for it.

C of O can be revoked by any state government that issued it due to various reasons ; national security, overriding public interests, environmental concerns, etc.

The koko is make person no offend people in government to the extent they will weaponize the law citing any of the above as reason for revoking his or her C of O. Na naija we dey.

Now u get.

Do u know what it means for a governor who has immunity from prosecution for full 8 years to threaten a private citizen's life? It means the governor can actually order a hit on u and even if all evidence points to him as being responsible for the attack, he can't be prosecuted in any law court until he's done with his tenure.

What's the assurance such governor would not be appointed as Ambassador after 8 years which will further confer another round of immunity on him. Such ex-governor can enjoy immunity from prosecution for as long as he remains in the good books of the ruling party while the private citizen's body would've been long rotten under the ground.

I'm sure Obi knows this too and won't try to tempt God by dismissing such threat as empty.

Obi really needs to enter Edo with boldness

Why does he need to do that?

Are u going to guarantee his security if he does?

What point does he need to prove by entering the state when the Chief Security Officer of the state is saying his security is not guaranteed?

Una supposed dey calm down o. Life no get duplicate.

The fact that a sitting governor says his security is not guaranteed in the state and even the party chairman of APC says the same should tell u that if he enters the state he will be putting himself in harm's way and u will see people justify whatever harm that befalls him.

Shey una no dey learn from history? I have seen fellow Nigerians justify the killings of peaceful protesters after ENDSARS shootings ; they were practically saying the victims deserved it and even cheered Lai Mohammed to go on witchunting for DJSWITCH and other activists who exposed the attrocities of the evil government.

If harm befalls him when he decides to enter the state in defiance to the governor and APC chairman's threat, what do u think will happen?

NOTHING! Abiola was killed in this country and nothing of significance happened ; no justice was served.

It depends on your prompting. There's a deluge of AI tools which would confuse you.

But ChatGPT plugins, Gemini (when you create Gems with it), and Perplexity AI can do this. Yes, the free versions too instead of paying $50/per for other specialized tools.

Start with asking it to "Act like a Senior Data Analyst with specialties in Excel and Google Sheets". Ask it to use a Temperature of 0.2 for accuracy.

Exploring AI tools is one the main reasons I've been away from here and most of social media - exploring AI.

If your prompt game is good, you can do just about anything with the regular AI tools.
Thanks . I know ChatGPT may be able to run something close , but I was thinking there was a specific Ai tool built for Workbooks/excel ; u know like there are Specific Ai for image editing , transcribing Teams meeting minutes from speech to word , etc

Stop being disingenuous. In my initial post I gave the height of 3rd Mainland Bridge and the reasons why such a jump would be fatal while you were talking about Ijaw and Itsekiri being able to jump the bridge.

You are the one who is bringing stuntman jumping entrance and exit points as evidence after goofing like a typical arts student. Of course a bridge must start from somewhere. When you talk of jumping off a bridge, nobody is talking about jumping from the lowest entrance point. I was even disgusted when you guys brought Tobi Bakre video as evidence cos any swimmer can jump double that, as if that's what we are discussing. Only someone with fear of swimming will bring that video as evidence of anything. We are discussing Physics, you are discussing swimming. You just dey find agenda to excuse your goof.

In ur haste to score a non-existent point u were quoting Ababio physics textbook without thinking of the possibility that jumping off the bridge can happen at any point . You carry STEM brain to rule out any possibility of jumping off the bridge and surviving .

Pix 2- Somoen brought out evidence that indeed it is possible to jump off the bridge and survive . It was recorded and duly documented online .

Pix 3- Your STEM brain has gone back to default settings and u remember it’s possible to jump off the bridge at some certain points . Now you are yapping about why he jumped off the edge and not at the middle of the lagoon .

Now u want to have a discussion about goofing ; Ndi STEM brain . Shior !

And that’s exactly why I said it’s overpriced. There’s absolutely no justification for a house in Nigeria to go for $14,000 per year in rent. Just like there’s no reason land should be selling for $3 million anywhere in this country, it’s ridiculous.

As you said, these prices are on par with luxury properties in Miami. But let’s be honest, who in their right mind would compare Ikoyi or Banana Island to Miami?
It’s pure madness.
You need to look at this this way:

Lagos as a state is a mixture of the good , the bad and the ugly . There are so many ghettos in the heart of the state and for u to see a location where there’s sanity ,serenity and orderliness na by connection .

When u say something is overpriced , u make it seem like the seller is the one controlling the market 100% , when in fact the seller as power as the buyer in the market .

Lagos being the commercial capital of Lagos host the headquarters of most multinational and international firms. Some of the firms have expatriates who want to enjoy some bit of sanity which they have in their home states and that leaves them with little or no choice but to settle for a place like Ikoyi which used to serve as the neighborhood that housed our colonial masters pre 1960.

The neighbourhood is well planned (unlike most parts of Lagos ) , there’s almost constant electricity supply , lush green serenity in most estates within and almost perfect road network .

Most individuals and corporates jostle to acquire residence there and then that’s where law of demand and supply comes into play . The buyers are willing to pay above and beyond the fair market value for those properties either to house their expats or fellow Nigerians who are big execs.

Who is the seller to say no to such offer ; especially when u see that more than one entity is willing to make that offer to u ? Or do u think if nobody is offering those ridiculous prices the owners of the properties won’t drop asking price ?

It was only an after thought for him to start talking about highest point and lowest point . And that was because he saw evidence that someone actually did jump off the bridge .

The initial post he even reacted to was about a guy advertising opening for a stuntman to jump off the bridge for a movie scene and get paid .

There is always the rare case, where the landlord choose based on the potential upkeep and maintenance of the property that agreeing to 10% discount wont be out of place, personally I would take this person at 10% drop cos the chances are I would spend less renovating the property at the end of her tenancy.

Also some landlords in these highbrow areas, main concern could be assest as store of wealth, capital appreciation, and not solely focused on rental income. Old money will mostly choose tenant that gives peace of mind over profit margin, happens everywhere, absolutely no harm in the lady trying it might just work.
Why should I agree to grant discount on the asking price for rent because someone promised to take care of the flowers already planted there?
