The truth is when an ailment or medical need is very critical, that big private hospital you use as a big man will refer you to a government owned Teaching hospital or specialist hospital. E get how person condition go take critical , the last resort will be a Teaching hospital like LASUTH, LUTH and co.

It's when such person gets referred there, he will understand the plight of the common man. You will get to emergency unit and they will tell you with smug face that there's no bed.

I mentioned here in the past how my own old man was treated in the car at the emergency unit of LASUTH in 2021. The Matron that came to lay the IV line for them to pass drip through his arm in the car said we are lucky we brought him in a car and it's not a taxi/uber. That's why she could attend to him promptly in spite of non-availability of bed.

I had to keep the engine of the car running and AC working for over 3 hours while the drip was being passed into his arm.

Good thing they have put out this disclaimer, but they shouldn't stop there. They should use some of FRSC IT budget to take down the scammers' websites and possibly track the criminals behind the whole thing.

No. The link will lead you to a page that looks like normal FRSC portal and you will see a field for you to input your plate number to check if indeed you violated any traffic rule.

What I think they did is they cloned FRSC website and already programmed their cloned site to confirm you violated traffic rule (Whether you enter your correct plate number or not, the result of your query will always be that you violated). So they expect you to proceed to input your card details to pay the N5,000 or N3,000 fine as penalty for your offence.

I got a message this evening purportedly from FRSC informing me about a pending speed limit violation ( see attached Pix 1)

I clicked the link in the text message 99% sure it's a scam because the website domain name was obviously not .gov despite FRSC being a government agency.

The link led me to a page where I was required to input my vehicle reg number to confirm traffic violation status. As expected, they claimed I violated speed limit. They provided fields for me to input card details so they can debit me for ₦3,000 which is the official fine for my offence. (See Pix 2 & 3 attached).

I know this is definitely the handwork of some yahoo boys with coding skills trying to run local scam on unsuspecting Nigerians since e be like yahoo Don hard well well now.

I also know for a fact that the ₦3,000 fine is not the main target of the scammers but whatever balance is on the ATM card of hundreds of people who would be unfortunate enough to fill in their card details on the fake FRSC payment portal.

I say make I put this here to warn people who may not really be aware of this scam.

Less than 12 hours after posting this, I saw post below on Twitter by one of their victims.

As I suspected, the paltry fine of ₦5,000 or ₦3,000 is not the target of the scammers but the card details of victims which they will use to wipe victims' bank accounts.

But with the way technology is now advanced, I don't think banks should be telling victims there's nothing they can do about it. Banks should be able to trace and track funds that is still within Nigerian banking system. Haba!

Frsc does not have database of phone numbers.
The speed limiter is designed to limit a vehicles speed, not report on it and they are local only. Where will Frsc get money for online speed tracking?

The Ghanian and South African governments have and continue to do these things, with the boogey man being Nigeria.

It's something the government can do if they want to.

I remember the Ghanaian government making laws that there are some particular trade/business foreigners cannot engage in without a Ghanaian being involved as part of management/ownership of the business.

I doubt we have anybody in Nigerian government that will think along this line. Even if somebody wants to sponsor a bill along that line, I can assure you that with few millions in Ghana-must-go bags shared by foreigners, that bill will die natural death

I don't think the Chinese would voluntarily the gold they recently struck with this retail business sha. Nigerian government's leaning towards China at the Macro level sef suggests that the Chinese wholesalers would voluntarily let go.

While reacting to the Tradefair protest , the Police Area commander actually referred to the traders who protested as " Few miscreants and disgruntled fellows".....That one alone don show say the Traders do not enjoy the sympathy of government.

It is actually Otedola they should be asking this question. Because his daughters have zero involvement or interest in the business.

Well, most of Otedola's businesses do not really require hands-on management like Dangote's. Otedola mostly buys into already running companies as an investor. For example first bank, AP (Which he exited) , Geregu (which he also exited), Dangote refinery(which he just invested in), etc.

You will notice that almost all those companies have fully functional management running them before he bought into them. He just buys controlling shares in those companies and influence board decisions.

Dangote on the other hand is more of a builder sha. He needs his heirs to roll their sleeves and paddle the boat of the empire with him. Otedola's kids may just sit at the backseat and watch their father make the money. When it's their turn they cash-in on his investments depending on what he leaves each of them in his testament.

In the first place anybody who can comfortably afford a brand new Chinese car will not be thinking of buying 20 year old second hand Toyota .

I don’t think there’s any magic the Chinese can do that will make their vehicles affordable for the average mid level income earner . In fact , most of the Chinese brand new vehicles on Nigerian roads are bought by companies and assigned to staff whose status qualifies them to have official vehicle . To the best of my knowledge, only a tiny fraction of Chinese vehicles are owned by individuals .
