I don’t think there’s any magic the Chinese can do that will make their vehicles affordable for the average mid level income earner . In fact , most of the Chinese brand new vehicles on Nigerian roads are bought by companies and assigned to staff whose status qualifies them to have official vehicle . To the best of my knowledge, only a tiny fraction of Chinese vehicles are owned by individuals .

Talking about cost of capital and accessibility to capital, I read yesterday that no Nigerian bank is willing to provide credit to most new oil well license holders to drill their first oil.

Local lenders are saying to those who recently won drilling license that they cannot provide credit for them until they drill their first oil. So that means they have to source for capital outside the Nigerian banking system to fund the oil drilling venture .

Cost of projection in Nigeria is no joke. Lack of constant electricity & high cost of diesel, regulatory bottlenecks and dealing with multiple taxation may actaully discourage entrepreneurs from producing some of those things u listed up there.

I commend anyone that is into manufacturing/production of local goods in this country in this current economic climate and with the associated issues that comes from manufacturing.

I bought one Iphone cord from one Chinese store called MINISO at Ikeja City Mall earlier this year. I've used the cord for almost 9 months and no sign of it going bad or failed performance.

If na the ones I dey buy from from those guys selling in local stores or even Computer village sef (no matter how expensive it is), the thing go don cast since.

For years hustlers masquerading as businessmen became millionaires and billionaires from selling cheap Chinese goods at 400% plus mark up

Now the Chinese have wised up and are in Nigeria cutting out the middleman

Oh, I see...... So the super-wholesalers have become retailers and retailers now want them out before the suffocate them?

The thing is not peculiar to trade fair now, sometime ago I saw posts on social media promoting a particular mega chinese warehouse on the island. Funny thing is the Chinese are even paying Nigerian influencers to direct retailers to their stores.

But come to think of it, other countries dey make laws to protect local businesses ......but the truth is such countries also protect consumers from exploitation and the greed of retailers for abnormal profit.

I went to ikeja electricity website yesterday and after keying my meter no these came out, I should be afraid because nothing is free in this country.

My Landlord sent me Tokens that was sent to him by IKEDC on Sunday for my flat and pumping machine's Prepaid meter (He registered both meters with his phone number).

I loaded the tokens and got 9.2 unit as refund for my flat's meter while the pumping machine paid meter got 43 units as refund. So, I can say the refund is real.

What I can't say is if they will later find ways to remove it from us later sha, but I want to think that shouldn't happene since it is the regulator that forced them to do the refund.

The government should leave University wahala and start paying more attention to technical education. There's a large hole to fill in that area. To find good hands in technical areas now na by connection.

To me, the government at Federal and state levels just want the easy way out by jacking up schools while promising they would raise the standard of learning/education in government owned varsities. They just want to keep spending money on other irrelevant stuff that neither build human capital nor bring development society while government officials & politicians don't have their funding cut.

Lagos state government that has tax collection running on Steroids will tell you it cannot afford to make LASU, LASPOTECH and Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education affordable for the public.....but when u look at government officials, lawmakers and political appointees feeding fat on tax payers' money u just know these people don see mugu's to whine well well.

If you tour business districts like V.I, Marina and co while observing the thousands of companies domiciled in these areas and you start imagining the kind of Corporate Income Tax, Land use charge and other form of taxes the government gets from these businesses. Then you go to Markets like Computer Village, Trade Fair, Alaba,etc and also think about the kind of income the state government generates from businesses domiciled within these areas ....etc you will have a faint idea of the kind of money the government makes.

Never mind the state government has refused to domestic FOI bill and will not respond to you if you make a formal or informal request as a citizen/taxpayer to know exactly what the state makes. But the government will tell you they cannot make any of the public institutions accessible without increasing fees.

Nigerian politicians are the luckiest in the world for the kind of citizen wey dem dey lead sha.

By 2027 the subsidy on electricity will be removed completely and everyone will be billed like those currently on Band A . Somehow electricity generation & supply has not gotten to the point at which they can guarantee 24/7 electricity, yet the subsidy will be removed as part of "reforms".

To think the same people who posted the campaign video of Tinubu saying "epo won, o di N200, N500.....e lo fokan bale, a ma gbe wale".... are the same people using the reform excuse to defend the various increments we experience today .

Suddenly the financial crisis happened the Nigerian stock market froze trading for months for every one, in that time I suffered, by the time they resumed trading my total holdings that were up to 5m then all crashed as no one wanted to buy

I sold everything for under 1m and never went back to Nigerian market again

In the buildup to that 2008 crash, many people poured money into the stock exchange, even pastors were taking money from trusted friends and congregation to invest in the market, many relationships got ruined as a result

Yes o, a lot of elderly people that I know who were thinking of retiring on income from their numerous stocks held in different companies on the Nigerian stock market suffered irreparable loss that period.

Even some big men who borrowed money from banks and invested in stock, they were affected then. That was how some of them ended up on AMCON debtor's list when AMCON was established to buy the bad debts of those banks.

When the financial meltdown happened , most of the stock went to dust. Post global financial crisis he didn’t relent , he still kept investing . Also on professional setting LinkedIn, let those influencers initiate stirring discussions around the Dangote IPO and let FOMO do the rest in the mind of average Nigerians looking for the next crypto boom or MMM dem wan use buy that dream property .

I will also be staying away from the IPO, I will wait for what happens post-IPO before deciding if I will be investing later in the future . I’m naturally risk averse sha
