Havertz afa relax o…. Relax o… |
izzou:They were just lucky cos the police and vigilante saw their foot track and the path through which they dragged them into the forest . The kidnappers were caught unawares by the police and had to escape with gunshot wounds . Prior to that the kidnappers had already been calling their family members to request for ransoms . In the comment section I saw people blaming the victims and asking why they chose to pass through Benin bypass in the night . They claimed there’s an alternative route they should’ve followed which is safer . Funnily the victims said where they were kidnapped is quite close to a military checkpoint |
We are playing well and lively today . Zinchencko doing well offensively thus far. |
izzou:The insecurity level is just so alarming . I watched a video of some kidnapped victims this afternoon that were rescued by the police . They were kidnapped close to the Benin bypass and had been beaten blue black by the kidnappers . They were just lucky the joint task force of police and vigilante in Edo state came through for them |
iamoyindamola:No private or government organization will employ u without requesting for NYSC discharge certificate or exemption certificate . It’s only ur family business that will employ u without either of the certificates from NYSC |
izzou:Sure insecurity needs to be tackled but some people will not have any reason to travel if NYSC was not made mandatory for graduates . |
iamoyindamola:Goodluck to u on ur personal agenda against Arteta then 👍 |
Ceenachi:PS: This is not me defending Arteta o , but following the logic in the bolded , Arsenal scored the 91 league goals last season ; the most in our history in the EPL . Perhaps that’s why he didn’t sign a striker and felt he should secure that Zinchencko’s wing that leaked goals last season . |
iamoyindamola:U obviously didn’t understand my post u just responded to . I simply said there are instances u can blame the coach when the loss is due to his tactical ineptitude and there are instances when the blame for a loss lies solely with the players . I gave an example of the Southampton match where two different players made errors that cost us two points . You can as well give examples of matches in which Arteta’s inability to tweak his formation either led to a draw or a loss from a wining position . I don’t have a problem with u doing that , but u lumping all the blames on the coach while absolving the players of any fault is what is similar to witchcraft . Yes on man utd thread I wrote about Amuru not winning matches and turning things around for the team despite being signed for that very purpose . Their fans have confirmed how his tactics has been too difficult for the current crop of players to adapt to. That’s on him and it behaves on him to come up with a winning formulation order for them to go back to winning ways just like Arteta did back then. |
iamoyindamola:Nobody brings up players to defend him, u are the one who sees saying facts as someone defending him. When the team loses a match due to the coach's inflexibility and poor tactics , there's nothing wrong in pointing it out and blaming him for same. However, when the team loses a match or drops points due to player errors u always want to keep blaming the coach which is unfair. I gave an example of 2023 vs Southampton when we played 3 - 3. In that single match Ramsdale error was responsible for the fastest goal against us while Partey also made another error that led to another goal. The match ended in a draw which nobody hoped for before kickoff, but nobody will open eyes and blame Arteta for the draw except one has an agenda against him. |
iamoyindamola:Personally I think they should scrap NYSC already sef. The scheme has outlived its usefulness ; it adds little or no value to the graduates, instead it is just an avenue for government and private owned businesses to access cheap labor. There are some government schools where they don't have permanent teachers for some subjects, they use corpers posted to such communities as teachers. Why can't the respective state governments and local governments employ full time teachers to do that? The scheme also exposes the corpers to risk of getting kidnapped , being involved in an accident or even a boat mishap for those serving in riverine communities that are not accessible by road. The primary objective of using the NYSC scheme to foster unity in the country is not even working; they should just scrap already |
Shegzdave how far ? Hope ur journey is progressing as planned ? Please stay safe out there o.

iamoyindamola:Can a single player win a trophy all by himself? Why didn't Van Djik win trophies with Southampton like he did with loserpool? All these talks about a player not achieving anything and using it to downplay how good a player is ; that should be something young football fans do not an OG like u. As regards Saliba playing well in France; we all know that any player can look like a superstar in France only for them to flop in the EPL. At least we still remember how Pepe flopped under Good ebening despite looking like Messi in the French Ligue 1. Even if u don't agree Arteta has anything to do with Saliba's outstanding performance under him; at least u agree that the other 4 players who made the EPL team of the year were all Arteta's signing. |
iamoyindamola:When u say "drag Odegaard", what does that even mean? That he is not a good player that performs excellently well and has become one of the best midfielder in the league or what? Baba drop all these agenda and appreciate our players when they do well irrespective of what happens to the team as a whole. Odegaard was so good last year that he was in the EPL team of the year. In fact, not just him but 4 players signed by Arteta: Rice, Raya,Gabriel and Odegaard. Let's not forget Saliba though not signed by Arteta has grown into one of the best defenders in the league under his tutelage; he was also in the EPL team of the year. |
https://youtube.com/shorts/ABE8JdPtZ14?si=JC_S5h9x-s1y881n I find it hard to believe the claim made by Adebayor in this video . He claims Wenger called him after coming back from an Holiday and told him he’s no longer needed at Arsenal . That was not how I remember his departure from Arsenal at all . |
germaphobe:GBAM! That was how they were saying Gabriel's signing wasn't necessary back then. They said he should've signed attackers and midfielders; that was what led to the defence vs attack argument instead of advocating for a balanced team. |
johnjunior39:Sterling was supposed to be Saka's deputy but apparently that was an unwise move going by how poor Sterling's form was at Chelsea last season. That's why I said Arteta and the management deserve to be criticized for that signing. There's nothing wrong in signing Calafiori at a time he was available considering how quality he is. Don't forget he was one of the best players at the last Euro. This criticism of Calafiori is sounding like the criticism of Gabriel's signing back then led by Kokane and the others. Look at how well Gabriel has now turned out. There's actually nothing wrong in signing a quality player who is available at a decent price and signing him should not in any way stop us from adding a striker the same transfer window. Arteta and the club should've also signed a striker particularly after selling off Nketiah. But I guess they were looking at how we didn't lack goals last season despite playing without a regular top 9. Remember we scored 91 goals in the EPL last season; just 5 short of Man city that had Halland. I think that is the highest number of goals we've scored in a premier league season. Now that it is clear we are having goal droughts unlike last season, it is only reasonable that we sign a striker. |
Ekweremadu's wife returns to Nigeria allegedly. https://www.nairaland.com/8323717/breaking-ekweremadus-wife-returns-nigeria |
iamoyindamola:The point is no matter how good or poor a coach is , he will always have players that turned out good and players that never lived up to expectation under his tutelage. It is not peculiar to just one coach. |
FG is chastising Julius Berger for trying to negotiate an upward review of contract cost. Yet it is the same government that floated the naira and dollar is almost close to N2,000 from around N600 when the contract was awarded. The same FG has been unable to tame the ever-rising inflation rate . They are also aware the minimum wage has been increased and as such the personnel cost of the contractor will increase. Is it that FG wants the contractor(Julius Berger) to execute the contract at a loss or what? I hope the minister will mention the preveious jobs this new contractor has executed in the past so people can check and see whether they are indeed competent and not just a front to divert government's funds after delivering a shoddy job. One needs to start asking questions, so we won't have a case of Hadi Sirika that scammed the entire country with the Nigeria Air project |
germaphobe: ![]() Omo! the long list of flops signed by Wenger is inexhaustible . We once had Yaya "Sir-No-Goal" |
iamoyindamola:Maddison can't do half of what Odegaard does for us as a team. The way he pushes our attack and drives it , I've never seen Maddison do half of that. You are right that Maddison is a dead ball specialist and seem to be better shooter , but that's where it ends. The creativity of Odegaard will always shine through. Just look at that second goal socred by Trossard vs Tottenham; immediately Partey dispossessed Bissouma and the ball fell onto Odegaard's path, he quickly released the ball setting Trossard up for the goal. That and more is what has endeared Odegaard to the fans. He has also scored some nice placing shots in the past vs Man utd and even Chelsea. The fact that Maddison keeps battling with injuries while Odegaard seem to be quite healthy is another plus |
TemporaryHansel:Anybody that can pay for VIP accommodation and feeding will surely get VIP treatment while in Sanko. The only reason why u noticed it is only celebrity that enjoys such rare privilege is because they are the only ones whose pictures post release always make it to the internet. Other people who pay for such treatment will just hide their head and avoid media when they come out. |
germaphobe:Exactly. I don't know why fans are quick to start lashing out and listing the signings that turned out bad immediately we hit a rough patch. We always forget about the ones that turned out good under the tutelage of the same coach. They even make it seem like it is only this current coach that signed flops meanwhile almost all our previous coaches have their own share of flops signed by them. |
iamoyindamola:But the 4 in 1 defenders are a plus to us. Timber has been playing across RB and LB since the start of the season and it is an advantage for us; especially when the other players who can play the roles are out injured. There's actually nothing wrong in doing that provided the players are really good at what they do. Shebi we used to have Callum Chambers that was touted as being able to play RB,CB,DM and CM well; but we all saw how he was useless in almost all the positions. These ones Arteta is recruiting have shown themselves to be better. |
iamoyindamola:Well, I can't speak for him as regards signing a player that can play across different positions; I believe he will have his reasons for doing that(chief of which I believe will be that that it enables players to step into other positions when the original player in those roles get injured). However, we shouldn't just discountenance his signings just like that. I remember how almost all the fans wanted Maddison as our AM only for him to sign Odegaard. Some of us even thought it was because of the 50 million fee being requested for him that was why we signed a cheaper Odegaard. Alas, today Odegaard is one of the best midfielders in the league while Maddison struggles to get a starting shirt at Tottenham. Arteta has his bad sides and faults, but so also does he have the good sides too. We shouldn't just paint all his efforts and decisions as terrible. Haba! It won't be bad if he signs Cunha or any other winger and still signs a striker too. Let's hope the board sees things the way we do. |
johnjunior39:Why do u people keep repeating this line "We had no business honestly getting a new defender yet Calafori was seen as an upgrade" ; as if repeating it countless times will make it true? Just last year we were all here complaining about how Zinchencko our LB gets roasted defensively anytime he starts for us. We complained so much that some of us kept wondering why Arteta keeps starting him knowing how weak he is defensively. Then there was Tear-knee who was obviously not in the coach's plan and would not be at the club today if not for his constant injuries that has scared most suitors away. Tomiyasu who could've played the LB is almost always injured every eke market day. So how exactly were we doing well and not needing a LB before we signed Calafiori? For the life of me, I will never imagine anybody will call Arsenal signing Calafiori a luxury signing seeing how thin we are in the LB position. I will Merino is a luxury signing but certainly not Calafiori. As regards Ramsdale & Raya, it was obvious Ramsdale will lose his starting role going by the errors he made in the 2022/2023 season. Ramsdale was a good shot stopper that made really great saves to earn us points in his days at the Emirates but he also made so many errors that cost us points. If I don't remember anyone, I remember the one he made vs Southampton which led to those ones scoring within 27 seconds from kickoff while we were busy pursuing the EPL title. It was so bad that he had to apologize to the fans after the match . As much as I liked Ramsdale while he was with us, I don't really fault the coach and the management of the club for relegating to the bench after replacing him with Raya. He has himself to blame for that and nobody else. Arteta and the club management should take the blame for believing a washed Raheem Sterling would be a worthy deputy for Saka. Since it is clear that Saka's shoes are too big for Sterling to step into, it is only reasonable for them to make arrangement to sign another right winger on permanent basis since Sterling's loan is just for a year and will end in the summer. I also want them to sign a natural goal scorer who will help us convert all those chances Havertz has been spilling. It is nit too much for us to have the best of both worlds, I believe the club is in a good financial position and we should also make some money selling some of our players that are just occupying space in the team doing nothing. |
johnjunior39:We've all seen that Viera cannot play on the wings, even Arteta himself knows this; that's why he was sent on loan since there's no space for him in the middle where we have Odegaard holding it on lockdown. Cunha is at best a decent winger who will contribute goals from the wings.Even if we don't sign Cunha, we will need to sign another winger to play the righ wing because we are quite light on that side of the pitch. The fact that Gabriel Jesus is injured makes it imperative for us to also sign a decent striker and Osimhen is not a bad choice. This is not about having a pre-conceived notion about Arteta; honestly I wonder why u guys find it so easy to blame Arteta for everything while absolving the club's management of any fault. Even before Arteta joined this club as a coach, we've been having issues of not signing players we the club feel we need. Don't u think it may be the club management's issue and not necessarily the coaches? |
johnjunior39:It is not about what I believe or what u believe. It is not Arteta's money but the club's money. If we need a striker and a winger, it is only expected of him to suggest his preferred targets for the roles to the management and let them push to get them signed. We need both winger and striker, so let them sign both. |
iamoyindamola:The only thing that will make sense is for us to sign a winger and a CF .That way we will have enough squad depth and we won't be lamenting anytime Saka is injured ; also we will have our goal scoring challenges sorted once and for all |
daveP:I've never really liked this Vlahovic and wasn't looking forward to us signing him. I'd rather we sign Osimhen as our CF now that he's currently available. |
johnjunior39:How is Cunha signing going to be similar to Havertz's ? Cunha has scored 10 goals in 21 EPL games this season already. I believe signing him to use him as a winger and then signing another CF will not be a bad business at all. |
