Madness he shouldn't officiate at all God will punish that ref and the ediots in the VAR room. They really need to start making public recordings of the conversation between ref and VAR . DissTroy: Obesere wasn't blasted to us 24/7 as kids, was it? It was regulated. Either at the random Owambé down the street or occasionally on radio.
Now there's a deluge of shit music available on demand and 24/7 to impressionable kids.
We didn't have a forced message which mocked going to school or reading culture and casualized everything. Same era where quizzes on NTA, Cowbell and Milo educational competitions were the norm? Where Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was the thing?Where it was cool to be book-smart.
We never had the "All way na way" mentality which is prevalent now. That's what Gen Z and Gen Alpha are being force-fed with now. Yet we blame them for the environment we created. Obesere was actually played at parties in the evening with speakers blasting to the hearing of residents in the area several meters away . Fela who most people idolize them stopped Femi from going to school in junior secondary school . I'm sure some of his followers may have followed suit . The truth is the society will not help u train ur child , it is ur responsibility to train them and hope they adhere to whatever values u instill in them. There will always be external/environmental influences which may affect them. |

DissTroy: We champion questionable characters like Shalli-whatever as role models, blast "If she no suck..." from loudspeakers at every party, including wedding receptions like the one I attended today, ridicule academics or the intelligentsia with quips like "Who e help?", and accord a crass, uncultured, and unread boy with money from any source more respect that 50 poets and economics scholars put together then we expect the younger generation to read? To what end?
Put up a post on your Facebook profile dissecting any of Charles Dickens' or Dan Brown's novels then watch almost all your Facebook acquaintances avoid it, then post some comedy skit of some girl twerking. Sit back to compare the engagements.
Millennials who are elder siblings and to Gen Zs and have them as niblings are just at fault. Late stage Millennials particularly. I don't think it's about the bolded . Maybe I can't speak about other tribe music , but I can tell u there were Yoruba musicians who had lewd lyrics in their songs while we were growing up . The Fela that everyone celebrates today was a weed smoker and nudist. My dad told me most parents actually didn't want their children to go to African shrine to watch Fela . A lot of girls never turned out good the moment they entered Fela shrine. Yet Some of our parents as would go there in their youth to watch him live . Those same parents still raised children they were strict enough to raise well despite their own vices as young adults . In fact Jimi Disu today is a 60 smithing year old veteran journalist and social critic, a grandfather who has kids he trained up to university level . He always mentions it on his radio programmes how he was staunch fella follower who frequents Kalakuta wella . |

Imagine man wey dey work for Lagos but wife and family dey Ilorin, how dem wan get his family informed and to attend burial
Or will they bury before 4pm and Inform family later I guess they will figure that out. But me I sha like the idea of same day burial |

raumdeuter: I wasn't sure if na all part na why I put caveat
One of my friends die and na moslem, that must be buried same day. Died in the morning, they called his mom in Ibadan to inform her and by 4pm he was buried. E be like say na the 7 days and 40days she came to Lagos for Muslims don't compromise on immediate burial and I really like that idea . There's no need keeping body for days or even months ; bury the body and then fix whatever date u like for the party . A staff where I work died late December ; they sent her burial arrangements to the whatsapp group this week. She will be buried in April somewhere in the south. Personally I believe the cost of embalming the corpse in a mortuary for 4 months would've been put to better use for other more important things. But then , that's just me sha . I know different people have their cultures . |

raumdeuter: There was a reading culture then in schools in my primary school we were mandated to borrow a story book every week, read and return. Some were interesting some were too serious for us. We started with some Evans African book some titles I remember are like Jeneba and the road, PA Dembas heir(we used this for our end of year drama) Later scaled up to Chinua Achebe Cyprian Ekwensi books from other African writers. Like weep not child, from Ngugi Recently I saw a moniker Hodari and I remembered that name from the novel Burning star of Ndutu. I remembered reading adventures of Moni Mambou
My dad had a big library filled with included Newspaper cuttings from the 70s I remember this one "where was Jesus after the age of 12" the article claimed Jesus went to study witchcraft and necromancy. That was the first time I came across the word necromancy. So next time the Born again in our school tried to preach to me, that was my gotcha question to them which many couldnt answer where was Jesus between 12 and 30? I guess he spent so much buying books and newspaper na why he no rich
When I was growing up my dad used to buy 2 newspapers per day Guardian and punch He also had books like Roots, Nick Carter series, Hardley Chase etc I lost most of them by borrowing them.out to friends and girlfriends
When I started working I went on ebay and bought him back like over 20 novels to replace the ones I lost Ur dad and mine are similar in this regard . My dad buys Punch during the week and Tribune on Saturdays and Sundays. He buys TheNews and Tell Magazines weekly . I always look forward to him coming home from work in the evening cos I will get to read that day's papers . I also got to read a lot of books he bought long before I was born . I think our parents really fell in love with reading and they passed it down to us. I could read really well right from primary school . While in senior secondary school in Literature class I was amused seeing fellow students struggling to read when the teacher calls them to the front of class to read whatever poem , prose or drama we were studying |

I watched a clip of Man utd vs Arsenal 2004 in which man utd won 2-0. I am forced to agree that if there was VAR back in the days, Man utd would most likely not have won as much cups as they did under Ferguson .
That very match was an indicator . Like I saw two different instances man utd players would've been sent off if it was reviewed by VAR . The first goal was even a penalty won through a dive . Neville just carry dangerous tackle nearly break our player leg and he just carry on like that 🥵 |

His tweet is insensitive, but his point is not wrong.[/color] In Yoruba tradition , nobody cares whether u sleep , kneel or stand to greet an elder at a funeral. Almost everybody at that funeral would have been older than her. In her state to expect her to be rising up to greet everybody on the day is insensitive IMO. Omo! I shock that any older person will have issues with whether she stands, kneels or crouch to greet an elder in this circumstance . Normally she should not even be greeting any stupid elder in the first place . If not that her father was a public figure , they shouldn't be turning a 57 year old , his wife and 27 year old son burial to a jamboree every politician come mark register . I'm even mad at the scenes yesterday night where the crowd forced the MC to recognize Peter Obi's presence . That's not the place and time for God's sake ! 🤦♂️ |
