We started with some Evans African book some titles I remember are like Jeneba and the road, PA Dembas heir(we used this for our end of year drama)
Later scaled up to Chinua Achebe Cyprian Ekwensi books from other African writers. Like weep not child, from Ngugi
Recently I saw a moniker Hodari and I remembered that name from the novel Burning star of Ndutu. I remembered reading adventures of Moni Mambou

My dad had a big library filled with included Newspaper cuttings from the 70s I remember this one "where was Jesus after the age of 12" the article claimed Jesus went to study witchcraft and necromancy. That was the first time I came across the word necromancy. So next time the Born again in our school tried to preach to me, that was my gotcha question to them which many couldnt answer where was Jesus between 12 and 30?

He also had books like Roots, Nick Carter series, Hardley Chase etc I lost most of them by borrowing them.out to friends and girlfriends

Almost everybody at that funeral would have been older than her. In her state to expect her to be rising up to greet everybody on the day is insensitive IMO.
