mostob: Ode didn't show any sign of injury or fatigue but couldn't make the last MD squad. Partey came back from playing just 45 minutes with Ghana and even trained with the squad but he is currently out for 'weeks'. ESR, Saka, Saliba and even Martinelli played a couple of matches while carrying a niggling injury.
Are you aware there were injury concerns about Rice just few weeks ago? What I posted is not sentiment or whatever, it is common sense. With Partey available, playing Rice wouldn't have been an issue since his deputy is fit.
We are in a critical stage where an injury to one of our 'spine' will be a massive blow to our title quest so protecting our asset is a sensible move. That we bought him for such amount doesn't mean we should overuse him.
Moreso, there is nothing wrong in getting the job done before 80th minute and give Rice his much needed rest.
As for the Partey example you brought, did you consider the league, the football schedule and the stress factor?
You only considered the injury factor. What of fatigue There is nothing critical about our stage jare. Rodri played 36 out of 38 league matches for city last season. When u have good players u must use them, except u don't like to win as a coach. We in November, if there's a major injury crises clubs have the chance of stocking up in January. As it stands rice has not even played 18 matches and we are talking about fatigue, injury scare and what have u. Rice is elite, if it takes him to play complete 90mins for us to win small teams like Burnley , Luton etc make dem use am! I remember when Gabriel was benched early this season; almost everyone of us nearly shouted our voice hoarse seeing how good Gabriel and how not-so-good his replacement was. I never said an injured player or a player still recovering from injury should be fielded , but any fully fit player should play their active part in ensuring we win matches. |

mostob: Rice shouldn't play the full match tomorrow abeg.... Elneny should play the remaining minutes. Rice is the only one holding our Midfield right now...the brightest spark in the middle. Arsenal is one funny club and its fans are even funnier We cried for months for the club to strengthen the squad in the middle; the club finally did and bought a very good player after coughing out over a 100m pounds. Now we are the same people begging the club to use the player sparingly just because we believe he will suffer injury if he's overused . It will interest u to know that Partey used 5 good years at Athletico Madrid and he only missed 6 games through injury in all of those 5 years. What am I saying here? Player wey go get injury go surely get injury whether he plays regularly or sparingly. I am an advocate for a good player to always start once he's not injured and fully match fit. I don't subscribe to benching a player or limiting his playtime for fear of injury on the pitch. If a good player starts and get injured, let other players step up and step into his shoes. We didn't buy a player for N100m to be keeping him inside "show glass" when we need to amass as much points as possible now that the season is still young. |

Any team either big or small that gets two red cards in a match against a top team will suffer whether they play highline or park the bus. Park the bus will not yield any different result from that high line. Do u know what u are suggesting they do here? You are asking them to surrender their midfield and block their defence? How many players will block their defence out of the 8 outfield players? How many will be roaming around chelsea players who have 2-man advantage? You will be surprised they may concede as much as 3 penalties cos when u have dribblers like Sterling and Jackson cutting inside ur already tired defenders, they will just keep making that Udogie kinda lunging tackles even in the box. U see ehn, when it rains it pours. The only way Tottenham could've gotten anything out of that match yesterday was if Chelsea was completely useless or some Sheffield united. I'm sure going forward the Tottenham coach would've learnt his lessons. He would most likely lecture his players on how to mitigate losses before things go further south. |

while i agree highline is the most intelligent way of defense because once you keep your opponent offside that is it But you need highly intelligent and conscious fast defenders too He should have park the bus and hit on counter, he also have a good keeper If you notice jackson scored the same pattern of goals 3 times, ball over the head square play and shoot
Wengay torture me that year playing highline with per mertersacker and gabriel It's very difficult to park the bus with 8 outfield players and 1 goalkeeper against a full team. The space will be so obvious for anybody to see and capitalize on. If Tottenham had resorted to parking the bus, they would still have lost scandalously except Chelsea players are completely useless. Remember Chelsea had the luxury of bringing on as much as 5 fresh legs into the game while Totteham has already lost 2 to 3 of theirs to red cards and injury. |

He has no business making that lunging tackle hoping he will get the ball before a fast sterling does . Immediately he got that second red card he threw the rest of the team under the bus straight . I don’t think the match is necessarily about Tottenham playing high line going forward in the match ; most of the times it was chelsea that put them in that position. A two-man deficit as early as 60 minutes is not what even a Simeone coached Athletico can survive in at that level . like Mr Ibu, nigeria is unfortunately at a point where no matter what you do to address subsidy there will be consequences.
It is what it is As far I’m concerned Tinubu has only come thru on his words for making a bad situation rotten . From where I stand Buhari led the country into misery and Tinubu has only continued from where he stopped . How can u promise the people renewed hope and get all u’ve done since ascension to power is continue in serious profligacy in the face of current eceonomic realities ? . The same Tinubu is appointing more ministers than his predecssors, creating more ministries , continued in borrowing to pay for frivolities like luxury vehicles , etc …. all of which are done while the common man has had his income eroded significantly . How does the government expect the economy to experience increase in productivity when a law abiding citizen like izzou is finding it difficult to cope with cost of transportation amongst other costs to continue to do business? I undertand the government will always write glossy words on the pages of news bulletin and journals talking about how “we will pull through together in this difficult times “ , but I can tell u that the common man on the street is getting the shorter end of the stick. |

GloriousGbola: The Government is seriously planning on CNG. As I write this I am working on part of the design of the second of over 50 projects converting /upgrading petrol stations to autogas ie supplying lpg and cng for vehicles. Unfortunately these things take time. Design to tender to construction to handover. There is a lot of pressure and it is made worse by bizarre cheaping out by the project sponsor. A single project will probably take 9 months from contract award, if we are lucky.
The other major marketers also have their own plans. A friend had me do a quick mockup of a multi energy retail station.
A company named Greenville rolled out preliminary cng stations as far back as 2013 and seem to now be bringing them online.
We will have to hang in there
I only hope once cng comes on stream we will not see the same weird spike in price that we saw with lpg. Lpg has risen from 6k for 12.5 kg in May to 11k now. And it is not imported but sourced from nlng. At some point the govt may step in.
As for electric cars, electricity is only commercially viable for bikes and keke napep imho
A regular ev will take 8 hours to charge on a normal outlet. On a fast charging outlet 1 hour will require 30kva. 30 minutes in the range of 50kva. Izzou can do the maths. We don't have steady power yet so you are spending on diesel
A 50kva gen brand new and unfked with burns 11 litres per hour. Cost of diesel at 1200 is 13200 to charge the car in 30 minutes. That is the base cost as other costs will be factored in. So a 30 minute charge for a consumer vehicle may come to 20 or 25k or more. Now multiply that for buses. For buses it gets much harder as you have to have a central charging hub and the buses must have enough charge for a working day. And a bus may require 200kva for an hour charge.
Solar power cannot replace conventional fossil fuels. You want solar in your home, you understand immediately that it is a spartan existence. Acs, iron, kettle will immediately hammer your battery life. You keep it simple and stick to lights and electronics and new fridge / freezer. Unless you have DEEP pockets and can invest in expensive solutions. But this can't work commercially. In the places where it is used, there are govt subsidies in place.
Fast charging may be cheaper for smaller vehicles. Keke napep bikes, korope. However the the technology for these is out of China. Oyibos get apple designed in California quality from China. Nigerians on the other hand get designed in cottage industry with collaboration from dodgy hustlers quality. What I like to call showroom warranty. Works fine in the showroom but after that you are oyo. So they know all of these would take this much time yet somebody just wake up on his first day at work and pronounced “ Subsidy is gone “ casually . It’s been 5 months after subsidy removal ; the poor can barely breath anymore , the middle class have had their savings eroded and their current earnings just to pay for their day-to-day living expenses , while the rich are having their naira investment shrinking day-by-day. They know CNG stations would not just materialize out of thin air yet they are listing provision of CNG buses as one of the immediate palliative being rolled out by the government . They know about our power situation in this country yet we are thinking of electric buses that we will end up using expensive diesel to charge . It’s been 5 months already since that ill fated announcement and we are yet to see any workable plan to tackle the after-effects of subsidy removal . People like izzou are finding it difficult to do business because the cost of doing business is not worth the risk and reward attached to it. I know some people may want to talk about the palliative they promised to share to million of households but we all know this is Nigeria and those who need those interventions the most won’t get it eventually . If we had a good labour ubion , the after-effects of this subsidy removal without plan is enough to cause serious mass protests that will shut down the economy of the country and make the political elite sit and discuss the way forwrad with the people that elected them to serve. Instead Ajaero and his gang are busy with how to win Ino state election for their preferred candidate and getting pummeled by opps headed by Hope Uzodinma . I have zero sympathy for Ajaero and whatever beating he has collected and may still collect in the future .🙅♂️ |
