That was the thing that thoroughly turned me off cuppy. When Nigerians were queueing and struggling for NIN capture (2017 or thereabouts ) , she went to one of the centers with her security and jumped the queue. And of course she captured the whole idiocy and posted it to SM.

in line with what you said earlier banks and large companies engaged the NIN coordinatiors directly and they posted agents directly to their offices. We had someone in our office for two weeks.

There is no way the same thing was not done in forte oil. In fact they could have arranged for a nin agent to come to her house. But instead we had a silly split brat rubbing her privilege in the face of Nigerians for clout and clicks.

Considering the amount of resources available in technology, the internet, social media, etc, I will tell you that I am sort of disappointed in Nigerian journalists of today. It just seems like they have misplaced priorities. Only very few journalists are putting the work in unearthing some of these atrocities and making them public.

The racketeering going on in public hospitals across the country, the massive corruption in the Police, judiciary, courts, different ministries and government agencies. How about the immigration, prison/ corrections? Should we talk about public universities?

Journalists are supposed to be the eyes of people through investigative works. Big credit to the group that exposed the LASU certificate scandal. Now, LASU leadership know they are being watched and will take serious steps to address the issue.

With all that being said, there is a legitimate argument that can be made that nothing comes out of it. I mean, look no further than the current APC chairman and former Governor of Kano state who was caught on video collecting bribe and the journalist who exposed the crime suffered the consequence.

I just weak for naija..
Let me shock u further as per the bolded .

The LASU certificate syndicate was busted in 2020-2021by DSS , yet some of those fingered in the academic fraud have since been promoted by the same LASU management .

Something tells me it’s the fallout of the last election, the whole Tinubu CSU certificate matter that made punch newspaper and dem Sahara reporters to dig up the story and run it now . That’s probably the reason the Lagos state house of assembly is taking it serious and want to be seen as deeply concerned about the matter .

You are not wrong if u say our media guys / journalists are doing agenda-driven journalism , but then the lukewarm optics they receive when they report some of these stories don’t help matters too .

Nigeria is a jungle. The leaders who have had the opportunity to travel out and see what a sane society looks like have to bear a large chunk of the blame in this particular issue. Many Nigerians were brought up in this system and so do not even recognize what is abnormal, therefore they might not even be sensitized to complain or do something about it.
I think the fact that u can get away with most of those stuff in naija is the reason most of our elite children in the past return to naija after studies abroad .

A student who despite her father being a rich politician in naija lived like normal student abroad wilt return to naija and start blowing one way with his or her police escort….. something wey be jail straight for abroad where em school

with regards to mobile police

we commisioned this station and were doing mop up

the dealer and her crew moved in and started setting up

next thing they called some sort agency to ask for deployment of mopol as security

so a business person was paying a monthly sum for deployment of armed mopol as security on their site

i never bothered to ask exactly what and how this worked

but it would seem there is a scheme in place where you engage and pay nigerian police [or some other agency] for armed mopol guards

because these guys were def mopol and the person using them was def not a govt vip, just a regular businessperson

with regards to the media i have come to the conclusion that a lot of the time they will post what raises quick outrage and sells papers

this issue of people paying for services of mopol has NEVER been reported in any newspaper.

if i could observe it during the course of my work a journalist should have actually investigated this long ago. and it is possible that it has been investigated - but is a story that will deviate from the preferred narrative.
There are a whole lot of absurdities that goes on in this country that goes unreported or under-reported by the media .

It appears the media too get tired at some point because when they report some of these things we either trivialize it or just simply say “na naija we dey now , not abroad …. What do u expect ?”

Apart from police officers , there are other government agencies that are trained and funded with tax payers’ money yet they get seconded by their oga’s to third parties after such interested party parts with some reaonable cash . On Sundays try drive around , u will see road safety officers , LASTMA , LNSC and even NSCDC attached to churches , Asalatu’s supervising the parking of congregants’ vehicles on both sides of the road while just leaving the middle of the road for other road users to use.

They leave the main road where they should be directing traffic , busy causing and supervising traffic on the church or praying ground road by parking vehicles there illegally legal grin.

How many media wan report that one ? Yet I’ve witnessed this happen over and over again.

Tinubu did not inherit anything .

He contested a primary election of his party where he made dollar rained in thousands to clinch the party ticket ( the PDP and APC primaries was where the dollar supply scarcity started )

He used every means possible both financially and politically to drag himself into the most coveted seat in this country .

Stop insulting our sensibility by claiming he “inherited a bankrupt country “ . A person ruling over a bankrupt country will not be signing a supplementary budget that still preserve the luxurious lifestyle of our good for nothing political elites .

A person who “inherited a bankrupt country” will not be creating more ministries in this austerity period , appointing gazillion ministers , SSA’s and what have u .

If u people don’t have any solution to the bad situation u have made rotten from Buhari to Tinubu as a party in the APC , please keep shut and stop insulting our intelligence with this kind talk Abeg!

i have said this before

one of the reasons police will never be removed from VIPS is becaise the police attached to VIPS are mostly SPY

supernumary police

https://nigerianqueries.com/spy-police-in-nigeria/

i witnessed oga at the top drivers converted to spy police

if i remember correctly, their salaries are not paid by the NPF but by their employers

so all this talk of no orderlies is just hogwash.

the orderlies you are seeing are not taken from the general population of police,

as a matter of fact - any one of us can apply to become a SPY police officer

the benefit as said in the article, is that if you encounter regular police, they will immediately behave once you pull out your card

i have seen this happen

saying orderlies will be removed from VIPS is like saying drivers will be removed from VIPs

the orderlies are DIRECT employees of the VIPS who have secured police privileges.
The bold is not totally true . There are thousands of REAL police officers who are not SPY police attached to VIP’s all over the country .

SPY police don’t carry guns but u can see mobile police officers and black uniformed policemen attached to people like dem Obi Cubana, some northern Alhaji millionaire , celebrity touts like MC Oluomo etc all bearing police service weapons . I still mentioned it here recently , with less than 150k u can hire a Toyota Landcruiser for a whole day which comes with an armed mobile policeman acting as escort which will take u anywhere u desire in this Lagos . U don’t even need millions to get the full attention of a MOPOL with gun for a whole day while so many parts of the country are left under-policed .

These shiiiits happen in this country for real .

U think the media that keeps bringing up the matter and reporting the one million and one times they’ve ordered the withdrawal of policemen attached to VIP’s don’t know the difference between SPY and real police officers ?

If I'm to apportion blame to all parties involved, I believe LASG/LAWMA takes the larger portion of the blame for stationing those cleaners there on the highway.

I will blame LASTMA and the driver equally for causing the death of the cleaners while engaging in their rat/cat race of who will outsmart each other in recklessness.

The issue I'm having with their premise is that they are trying to absolve the driver of any blame.
U are the one assuming they are absolving the driver of blame. I just saw the news on FP now and from the report it appears even the cleaners are blaming the state government for endangering their lives.

The fact that Lagos roads have so many reckless driver is enough for LASG to discontinue the idea of cleaners sweeping highways. No matter how u look at it, cleaners sweeping highway is a disaster waiting to happen.

Go back to my second post to BlueRayDick.

At first I blamed the driver alone, when I got new information about lastma, I came and added that context to it.

The fact of the matter is that the driver hit and killed those women because he was trying to flee (overspeeding) away from lastma that was chasing him.

Lastma fault here is clear because they don't really need to chase the guy to fine him for breaking a traffic offense.

The driver is also reckless for overspending without caution that lead to the death of 2 women.
I think u are missing something here. It's established the driver while trying to escape LASTMA arrest killed the two cleaners, but what izzou and glorious are saying is this; If those women were not sweeping the expressway they definitely will still be alive now. Sweeping an expressway is an extremely dangerous work which Lagos state should not be encouraging.

If LASG want people to still be cleaning the expressway, then they must go all out to put in place serious safety measures to protect the cleaners going forward.

Since these guys have been sweeping Express and expressway, how many accident or causalities have we had?
Several bro. The fact that they don't make the news doesn't mean it's not happening.

Personally I know a woman who was killed by a motorist like that while she was sweeping the road just like this. I went to see my people and I just asked after the woman; I was told she was hit by a motorist like 3days ago where she was sweeping and she dies almost immediately. That was the first time I understood the kind of risk those people are exposed to.

Just read the accident happens while Lastma was chasing a Sienna guy. It was the Sienna guy that killed the 2 Lawma cleaners.

Something needs to be done with the way these Latsma guys behave when it comes to private cars as compared to how they just overlook danfo drivers that commit the same offense.
There are a lot of things wrong in this country. I think the state government is not serious about ensuring LASTMA officials stick to their job of managing free flow of traffic. Normally why should LASTMA be chasing a vehicle when there are already cameras taking pictures of traffic offenders almost everywhere in Lagos?

Shebi they are just expected to send direct message to the driver's phone informing him of the fine and make it impossible for him to renew his papers except he pays the official fine.

Just like izzou pointed out, sweeping on an express road seems weird and just a disaster waiting to happen. I understand there was need for LASG to create jobs for those cleaners, but the risk they are exposed to on the job is just too much. I don't even know what the government can do to protect those cleaners other than to take them off the highways

Damn!

I don't know if it's just me, but most times I see those road cleaners at work I always feel their job is too risky considering the number of reckless drivers we have on the roads in Lagos. So many impatient drivers who just want to use the smallest space to overtake other road users; just one reckless swerve and they will knock down a cleaner who already placed a cone by the side of the road for protection.

I doubt Lagos state has any reasonable compensation for cleaners who die in active service like that.
