eezeribe:But the guy enjoys associating himself with Nigeria too. He even has the map of Nigeria tattooed on his arm. |
Dasherz:That would depend on MhizzAJ. Her wish would definitely be my command. ![]() |
I keep on telling people that there is a difference between merely being good at Mathematics and being a mathematician. I am a mathematician because I earned it by virtue of academic qualifications up to a master's degree and I hate how anyone who is good at maths is always quickly hailed as a mathematician even without possessing the requisite qualifications and critical thinking and analytical skills. The word is exclusive to the academic world and we should stop abusing it. Now to the topic proper, many companies need to shake up their HR departments. Many of the officers are incompetent and have no idea about HR management. |
shinarlaura:You are most welcome ![]() |
shinarlaura:I like you. Your heart is gold. |
shinarlaura:Yes, it was good too. Merci ![]() |
shinarlaura:Bonjour, beautiful one ![]() I have not the slightest idea of what these people are talking about. How was your night? I hope you are fine? |
Too many portfolios. Where is the money for Christ's sake? Why are these leaders so irresponsible and wasteful? |

Dasherz: ![]() |
Dasherz:Yes, I like that, sweet. Let both sides out. I am liking you more. |
Dasherz: ![]() |
Dasherz:No, Dash. You can't deny the fact that the guy is fearfully made. |
shinarlaura:Merci, belle femme ![]() |
Dasherz: And the nightmare fancies himself to be every lady's dream. |
Dasherz:You are wicked
|
shinarlaura:Yes, that's true. Have a nice night and stay blessed. |
shinarlaura:Don't joke o. |
Rubbiish:We are saying the same thing. We are both placing much emphasis on education at the expense of degrees. My comment was originally directed at Pocohantas. Pocohantas originally said she couldn't marry a man without a degree only for her to take offense when it appeared that someone compared an SSCE holder to a Harvard drop-out. I don't see why she should point this out when she had already said a no to the idea. What is the difference between an SSCE holder and a Harvard drop-out? Are both of them not people without degrees? |
Rubbiish:You don't understand. An SSCE holder and a Harvard drop-out don't have a degree. The only difference is the level of education. And that is what I am emphasizing. Victor Moses does not have a degree but there is the possibility that he speaks a better English than some of our English graduates. There is also the possibility that he has a better understanding of sports injuries than our physiotherapists. It all boils down to his exposure which in itself is education. George Bernard Shaw was a famous writer who even won a Nobel Prize in literature. Bernard Shaw had no degree because he saw university education as a waste of time. Shaw educated himself. He had no degree but he was more enlightened than many of our professors of sociology or literature. Abraham Lincoln was a lawyer who trained himself by reading books. He didn't cram for the sake of getting the coveted degree. |
shinarlaura:I envy you o. How did you learn to speak English that is not merely passable? |
pocohantas:Madam, calm down now. The guy was not comparing Harvard drop-outs to SSCE holders. And supposing he did, what is the big deal? Are you telling me that there are no SSCE holders in Nigeria who have the capacity to gain admission to Harvard? That aside, his argument is that a degree does not guarantee smartness. I think our emphasis on degree is one of the reasons why our education sector is in a shambles. Many dubious outlets have been established and lazy students are using them to get the coveted degree. You need to check the mindsets of some people with regard to degrees. They just want the pali (the certificate), nothing else and they would buy it if they could. |
QueenSekxy:Having a degree does not mean you will reason alike. I know of a PhD holder who would rather his wife learnt a trade when she obviously wanted to get an MSc. From some of the comments on this thread, I have deduced one thing: many people can't separate education from degrees. Do you know there are people who buy degrees? What if you fell into the hands of a man whose degree is not worth more than the paper it is printed on. After serving my country, I got work in a hotel owned by an Alhaji. This Alhaji has nothing other than a primary 6 certificate but you need to see how much he values degrees. His children are schooling in the United States and he never tires about telling me how he regrets not "going to school". When I told him he could still go to school, he told me he was no longer interested but he would make sure his children get the best education. His wife recently got admitted to a part time program. |
Dasherz:Good move. ![]() |
