caprini1:First-choice Ike Shoronmu was desperately unfortunate to break his hand in the final game of the season at club side FC Zurich; his deputy Abiodun Baruwa had a poor outing against Yugoslavia, and the veteran Peter Rufai let in five goals against the Dutch. His call-up alone was an indication of the seriousness of the problem, as he had been on his way to vacation. https://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/4082/comment/2014/04/15/4753195/world-cup-special-france-98-where-did-it-all-go-wrong |
caprini1:No, it was one goal. That goal was scored by Andreas Möller. I remember that match. Ike Shorunmu was at his best as usual. He unfortunately had an injury that caused us to invite Baruwa who messed up against Yugoslavia. So, Peter Rufai was called out of retirement. It was Peter Rufai who then conceded 5 goals against Netherlands. Kanu scored our only goal. |
caprini1:No o. It was Peter Rufai that let in 5 goals against the Netherlands. Against Germany, we conceded only one goal, and Ike Shorunmu was the one in goal. Ike Shorunmu was our first choice back then, and he was a wonderful goalkeeper. He got injured, and Abiodun Baruwa was called up. Baruwa conceded 3 against Yugoslavia, and Peter Rufai was called out of retirement. Rufai let in 5 against the Netherlands. |
caprini1: ![]() Baruwa was not a bad goalkeeper. He only had a bad outing against Yugoslavia. People judge him based on that match just as they judge Willy based on a single match. |
Iamgrey5:I honestly don't know what they always intend to prove by playing European style of football. |
airsaylongcon:Anyone reading this would think that Willy was a bad goalkeeper when in fact, he was a very sharp goalkeeper. Just because of a single unfortunate game, he was called Agbonav-basket. It is very unfair for you to paint Willy as a basket. |
Iamgrey5:You are right. Ivory coast too. |
ceejaynwamalay:The reality is that since Ikeme left, we have struggled with goalkeeping. |
seanjy4konji:Very ignorant. |
nblock:He is very ignorant. If not for recently, when have we ever lacked quality goalkeepers ![]() |
Nigeria is the only West African team that does not play rugged football. |
The left flank of our defence remains the weakest link. |
Goal Brazil. |
Thisis2raw:Do you know the meaning of needy? The Levites got tithes instead of allotment of lands, which meant they could not grow their own foods, so they were dependent on the tithes that people from other tribes were mandated to give them. That was why in the time of Nehemiah when people stopped bringing their tithes to the Levites, the Levites returned to their farms and abandoned the works of the Temple. I also learned that the portions assigned to the Levites had not been given to them, and that all the Levites and musicians responsible for the service had gone back to their own fields. (Nehemiah 13:10) |
alBHAGDADI:Was that Tithing predating the Law mandatory? Was it a Law? Was Abraham mandated to tithe as the Israelites after him were? Make up your mind. Do you tithe the Abraham way (under no compulsion) or the way of the Law (mandatory)? You cannot keep quoting the Law to justify Abraham's freewill tithing. Why is it not written that the mentioned professions didn't pay tithe? Where is it written that it was only farmers that paid tithe? He ordered the people living in Jerusalem to give the portion due the priests and Levites so they could devote themselves to the Law of the LORD. As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously gave the firstfruits of their grain, new wine, olive oil and honey and all that the fields produced. They brought a great amount, a tithe of everything. (2 Chronicles 31: 4-5) Every tithe of the herd and flock--every tenth animal that passes under the shepherd's rod--will be holy to the LORD. (Leviticus 27:32) From the verses above, anyone with half a brain can reach a simple conclusion what tithes meant. They were foods to be eaten. They were land-based products and were products of farmers. Land-based agriculture system consist of crops and livestock. Look, it wasn't only agricultural produce that Jesus label as tithe alone. He also stated that tithe can be paid from all you possess which can include money. Remember the parable of the Pharisee who boasted that he pays tithe from all that he possess. Jesus didn't condemn him for paying tithe in that manner. Rather, he condemned him for something else.Wrong!!! Jesus labeled only agricultural products as tithes. "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cumin. (Matthew 23:23) Mint, dill and cumin are agricultural products. Nowhere did Jesus say you could pay with money. As for the Luke 18:12 that you quoted. A tithe of all I have does not necessarily mean all his properties, but all of his properties that can be tithed under the law such as agricultural products. Just as usual, you have quoted a whole verse out of context. A tithe of everything means a tithe of everything that can be tithed. As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously gave the firstfruits of their grain, new wine, olive oil and honey and all that the fields produced. They brought a great amount, a tithe of everything. (2 Chronicles 31: 4-5) You can't expect Jesus who is God to pay tithe. Secondly, just because it wasn't recorded that the Apostles paid tithe doesn't mean it never happened. Lastly, where is it mentioned that farmers paid tithe? If Jesus was God, who did He pray to? Why did He get baptized before beginning His ministry? If He could get baptized like every Jew, why was there no need for Him to pay tithes if everyone else was mandated by Law? |
ADEWUMIMichael:You missed everything. A Pharisee is one who displays an outward appearance of being religious. So, he would come to church early even though his heart is far away from church. He will love his pastor even more than God. When they are sick, they will still come to church to make the pastor praise them. So, with the few corrections I have made, edit your post. |
tunary:SMH... People read in this world. You should too. Those who know so much about animals are not animals. They know because they read or researched. |
Thisis2raw:And just so you know, the tithe law was instituted primarily for the needy (which included the Levites). It is a charity system, and it was meant to benefit the needy. So, even if you must tithe, you should give it to the needy. God emphasized the need to cater for the poor. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.' "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?' "He will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.' (Matt 25: 42-45) God does not need your money. All He needs is for you to help the needy among you. Helping the needy is the same as helping God. Feeding the needy is the same as feeding God. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. (James 1:27) |
alBHAGDADI:Do you know that the tithing law was tied to the Promised Land which is why tithes were purely land-based, and money wasn't even encouraged. If you had to redeem your tithes with money, there was a slight burden. Why didn't carpenters, fishermen, and others pay tithes? Was there no money in those days, even in the days of Jesus Christ? And yet Jesus Christ hinted tithes to be land-based agricultural products. There were a lot of fishermen in those days, and yet nowhere was it mentioned that Jesus Christ (a carpenter) or his disciples (fishermen, tax collector, zealot and others) paid tithes. |
1Sharon:Don't mind them. Even the Levites, for whose sake tithe was primarily instituted no longer collect tithes because there is no functioning temple. There are levites scattered abroad, even in the United States, and they are working for their money. The Jews still practise tithing, but they eat their tithes, and only the farmers and herdsmen do. Many of the levites in Israel work for their money. |
Thisis2raw:God no longer lives in those types of houses. Even the levites are now scattered abroad, and because no temple or a levitical priesthood needs maintenance, even the levites are now working for their own money. But your pastors, who are not of that priesthood, want your tithes by all means. |
Many times, those who display all this social media love are not as loving in reality. |
realestniggah:Good books have impact on ordinary citizens. Don't be ignorant. Children books, for instance, expand our children's knowledge. Have you ever taken a course on child psychology? Then you would know how important books are in speech therapy. Also, there is a projective test known as Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) that uses stories to measure personality. Many scientific ideas came from books. Submarine idea came from undersea travel in the novel Twenty Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. Taser from a novel by Victor Appleton. Helicopter from a novel by Jules Verne Credit card from a novel by Edward Bellamy. Other scientific ideas got from books are earbuds, defibrillators, and many other things. The Big Brother franchise was inspired by a novel 1984 by George Orwell. Aside all these, books also provide entertainment. Books have shaped the world. Why do you think dictators always fear writers. If writers are overrated, why do dictators fear them? Why were dictators like Stalin scared of writers? Because they knew that writers could overthrow their governments by simply using the pen. They knew people could rebel by reading books and learning one or two things that could give them the courage to overthrow their oppressors. |
invectives:OK, let us wait and see. I never lose this type of argument. I said same about Korede Bello. The thing with Don Jazzy is that he is a good businessman. If not for Don Jazzy, the likes of D'Banj would not even enjoy the attention they got. |
nuroegbu:What shit? Age of consent in Germany is 14 years. The agent of consent in Japan is 13 years, and these countries are way disciplined and developed than your so-called highly moralistic country. So, what shit were you talking about? The report said Buhari first met Safinatu when she was 14. No evidence that he slept with her. And even if he did, the age of consent in Nigeria at that time was 11. |
Luciferlove:It was in the early 1970s. How many people (even in advanced countries) cared about genotype compatibility in those days ![]() |
tsinzu:You obviously don't know anything about music. There is something called music business which includes promotions. Even if you are the most gifted musician in the world, poor promotion can affect how far your song goes. So, all these number of streams and billboard features are the effort of promotion, and not talent. |
The guy has this superstar look. But, his talent is evidently average. He would go the way of Korede Bello, obviously. |
For me, it is Styl-Pus. Those guys were pure talents. As for Trybesmen, I only liked one of their songs. I don't miss them at all. I also don't miss Psquare. I don't miss Mo'hits (I liked their Booty Call song, though). I was never a fan of Maintain and KC Presh, especially KC Presh. I ought to miss Plantashun Boiz and Remedies, but I don't know why I don't. Maybe it is because I think of the crew members individually. I like Tony Tetuilla's My Car and his collabo with TicTac. Then Eedris's Mr Lecturer. Eddie too released a track back then which was partly shot in an airport. Maybe it is one reason why I don't miss the group. But Styl-Plus, I miss that group. Shiffi and Zeal did come back together, but they couldn't break into the Nigerian music scene. Tunde has gone solo, but his songs sound too foreign. Moreover, in this period where wacky songs are getting relatively better attention, there is no how Tunde can gain that much attention that Styl-Plus gained. |
"Sleepers" ![]() And they moved it to the front page with that conspicuous error. |
This is very unnecessary. You make these illiterate rumor mongers feel important by dignifying them with a response. |
nancyiwuchukwuk:When did she become Khafi Akpofure? I thought it was Khafi Kareem ![]() Many of you bloggers are plain lazy. How long would it take you to proof-read your contents before publishing them? |
