Ofunaofu: Sovereignty is the concept of supreme power or authority. The sovereignty of Parliament, for example, is the independence of Parliament. I know your father was too stupid to understand well enough to teach you manners, but at least, teach yourself. |

Sports / Re: I Prefer Your Sister': Materazzi Reveals What He Told Zidane Before The Headbutt by BluntTheApostle(m): 10:08am On Apr 09, 2023 |
Abfinest007: France would have won. Zidane was the pillar of the team. Just because he was not on the pitch in 2002, look how ordinary France was. Even Henri admitted that their poor performance in 2002 World Cup was because of the absence of Zidane. Zidane was not just the captain, he was the motivator. |
Sports / Re: I Prefer Your Sister': Materazzi Reveals What He Told Zidane Before The Headbutt by BluntTheApostle(m): 10:05am On Apr 09, 2023 |
PoliteActivist: Exactly. Especially when you have a goal right ahead of you. Zidane knew the implications of physical violence in football. Straight red card. He knew he was the pillar of the team. He knew that his dismissal would destabilize the team. He should have thought better than do something that foolish. |
Sports / Re: I Prefer Your Sister': Materazzi Reveals What He Told Zidane Before The Headbutt by BluntTheApostle(m): 10:02am On Apr 09, 2023 |
Gajagojo: He acted foolishly. Despite knowing he would get a red card, he still went ahead to headbutt simply because he could not manage his anger. If he had kept his eyes on the goal (which was to win the World Cup), he would have simply ignored Materazzi. Compare Zidane when he was a player and Zidane the manager, and you would notice he has learnt to manage his anger considerably. |

mightyhaze: Materazzi equalized for Italy after France went ahead. So, it was not just about the headbutt. He tried in that match. He also converted his own penalty during the shootout. |

Ofunaofu: Rattled? No. It was a foolish letter. How can Adichie, a graduate of political science, not understand the concept of sovereignty? It is a very stupid letter that reeks of inferiority complex. |

Family / Re: Couples With Thriving Marriages, Please Share Your Story by BluntTheApostle(m): 4:16pm On Apr 02, 2023 |
ibechris: How did you come about this knowledge? Did you carry out a research or did you read the results of studies on marriages? They often don't prepare for the future and that is why, many are in dire need of financial and moral uplifting in their marriage. How do you prepare for the future? Is there a certain way you prepare against unforseen circumstances? Remember that in your first paragraph, you asked someone not to generalize a situation. But that is exactly what you have done in this paragraph of yours. You have assumed that anyone who has planned well for marriage would automatically have a thriving marriage. In China,an average Chinese don't ever talk about marriage except they are able to acquire an apartment where he and his wife would live, but here in Nigeria, immediately a guy makes 5million naira he runs to marry and spend virtually all that he had acquired just to impress everyone. Yet again, you contradict your first paragraph. China is not Nigeria. Realities are different. It is actually much easier for the average Chinese man to acquire an apartment before marriage. Perhaps, you don't know, but the average Chinese has a better standard of living than people from many of the Western nations, including the Americans. In Nigeria, a man who manages to get into a public university does not even know when he would finish. And even when he manages to finish, the competition in the labour market is so high that he might have to start contemplating a master's. In a country with little regards for education, he has to pay through his nose to get through his master's program. Despite the subsidy in education, I know how much I spent on seminars and mini projects to finish a master's at OAU. And that was after a 7-year BSc program (instead of 4 years). That is why u see most marriage crashing on a daily basis. If that is the case, why are billionaires divorcing as well? Dangote has divorced three times. Dino Melaye may not be a billionaire, but he is loaded. Yet, he has been married twice. FFK has been married four times. Oyakhilome divorced his wife. Pastor Chris married twice. Even the China that you mention, divorce rate was so high until the government introduced a cooling off law that made divorce processes difficulty. Now, divorce rate has dropped, but guess what, the rate of marriages have also dropped. People are avoiding marriage in China. Another reason is,most men marry liabilities and come back to regret ever making that mistake. I am not perfect, but I remembered asking my wife her financial role if we get married and what we would be investing our money into as time goes on. I also remembered, she once told me,that she would like me to take charge of whatever investment we shall be putting our money in since I was more versed in investment than her. The only thing I can say is that you are lucky. Only a few people are lucky to find a truly compatible partner. In fact, the rates of divorce around the world (there is data for this) shows that many are unlucky in their marriages. And I am sure there may be those who did far more research than you did before agreeing to marry their spouse. Many intended couples invest so much time in preparing for wedding than preparing for marriage and the future ahead. Do you have figures for this claim? Lastly, before u prepare for marriage, sit down with ur wife to be,discuss money matters with her, don't marry a man or a woman who has no job,no hand work or education. If he or her parents are not rich, pls be careful. Some may be lucky while others may not be. While this advice is great, it doesn't guarantee anyone a thriving marriage. Even if your wife has a job, handiwork or education, if she lacks foresight, it would be a waste. And even foresight itself is still not enough without some bit of luck. Note: many homes are enjoying their marriages and I am one of them, with this,i think I have made my points Again, how did you know many homes are enjoying their marriages? You have yet contradicted your Paragraph 1. The fact that you are enjoying your marriage does not automatically mean that MANY are enjoying theirs. Remember that divorce rate does not even tell the whole story. There may be people who are unhappy in their marriages but are staying because of the children or because of the culture of shaming divorced women. 4 Likes 2 Shares |
Romance / Re: How I Handled A Man After My Wife by BluntTheApostle(m): 1:49pm On Apr 02, 2023 |
Ebelelivinston: I have a question that I think you need to ponder over: How come you did not know about this neighbour disturbing her for sex until you found the chat on your wife's phone? If your wife felt bothered about that hor.ny neighbour, I am sure she would have told you about it without you having to find it out by yourself. There is something suspicious about this issue. I don't think your wife is totally honest about the matter. I am not saying she has slept with the man, but she might have been enjoying the attention. Enjoying the attention is not a bad thing in itself, especially for a woman. But one cannot tell where it might lead to. 3 Likes 1 Share |
Crime / Re: Share Your Experience About Being In A Cell Or Prison by BluntTheApostle(m): 6:30pm On Apr 01, 2023 |
My own experience with prison was when I used to evangelize to inmates back then. The experience alone was enough to give me nightmares despite never having been locked up before. My prayer remains that I not be so unlucky to find myself in prison. Aside the fact that freedom is precious, the deplorable conditions in which inmates live is scary. Another scary thing is that most inmates are awaiting trial. Many of them don't even know why they are there because the police never made proper arrests. Even those who think they know would narrate stories that led them there. I use this opportunity to tell every reader here to always pray every morning before stepping out of the house. The Hausa beggars always say one prayer: "Akoba adaba, olorun ma je a ri". This means that God should protect us from any matter that we know nothing about. If you listen to the stories of some inmates, you would understand the importance of that prayer. How can you explain that someone landed in prison since 2004 and was still there around 2012 when I happened to evangelize at that prison, simply because thieves broke into a warehouse where he was security guard? The most painful thing about this story is that he was not even the one that was supposed to be on duty that night. The boss called him while the poor man was home relaxing with his family, that the other security guard's wife was in labour and so he could not come. The man left home in 2004 and had yet to return home in 2012, languishing away in an awaiting cell. Another man spent two weeks in awaiting cell because he happened to be head of a department where some money had disappeared. If not that the culprit was discovered after a few days, he might still be in that cell now waiting for the time when he would finally appear before a judge. 45 Likes 3 Shares |

N2B2: You don't know what you are saying. NURTW is a trade union just like ASUU, NUT, NLC, and others. Every union once in a while happens to have one leader who would influence great influence. For example, NLC once had Oshiomole. Oshiomole had great influence in Nigeria because anything from him could halt the economy of Nigeria. Yet, at that time, he was not an elected public official or even a government appointee. It is the same thing with NURTW. The Lagos Chapter of NURTW was once under MC Oluomo. There is no sensible government that would not associate with NURTW in his own state because just like every trade union, they are capable of grounding activities in a state and negatively impacting the economy. |

Racoon: You people don't even understand how the transport system works. There is NURTW with chapters in every state. And for your information, the NURTW has been generally accused of extortion nationwide, not just in Lagos state. To address the issue for Lagos state, the state government set up the Lagos State Parks and Garages Association to check on the excesses of NURTW Lagos chapter which includes extortion. So, MC Oluomo is only doing his job. Before, drivers had to part with 20,000 naira daily due to different extortion and all, but now that Lagos State Parks and Garages Association has waded in, they now have to pay only a little below 3000 naira daily. So, I don't understand you people's problems. And mentioning the police, what do you expect them to do? Arrest the NURTW workers (who you people like to call thugs)? It is like students protesting highhandedness of lecturers individually when they have a student union that they can go to. That is what the police are saying. If you have a way of attempting to solve your problems, there is no need to protest in such a way that allows unscrupulous elements hijack your protest like they did with the EndSARS protest. |
