Congratulations sir. It's advisable to have another alternate source of power to complement the solar system and include it in the planning.
I wish I could advise on the wind turbine from personal experience but the guy that did my wind turbine couldn't get it to work even though it has been mounted.
Raining season would make solar charging very slow with the battery draining to very low level that won't make it last except you want to use phcn or generator to be complementing it.

I wish you could shed some light on the wind turbine..

If the item is not banned on aliexpress you won't have a problem with customs.
Delivering as scheduled? Not in this present Nigeria. It gets to Nigeria from China in 2-3 weeks, then takes 2 months for customs/post office to release it for you.

Problem with the solar system is low sunlight on cloudy days such as in this month.
It allows the battery to drain much lower than the ideal level which may make the battery go bad quick, hence making the whole setup expensive.

So yes the options are there but somehow folks are not taking advantage of it.

All my exterior lights are solar powered so my compound is lit from dusk to dawn. My personal decision as I planned my return to Nigeria was not to be dependent on government.

Pop 6k per square meter
Stainless railings 28k per linear meter
Tiles 3500 per sqm

One thing I love about this is how the dining is same level with the sitting room. I don't like elavated dining.

I mentor youngsters in tertiary institutions. I don’t teach them to become like me. I teach them to think and act.

The whole “I watch the video, the door is small, the client is right, the vendor is wrong... the protests is to stroke mama Eyinne’s ego and make her feel loved and encouraged that at least someone somewhere could feel her pain.

The whole advice to the vendor is to make him think and act because nothing will put the whole issue to rest without him making some concession. And I think he’s smart enough to know his next step.

I will like to thank everyone that mediated on this door issue with Michlin. We hv finally settled it amicably, i was able to take 4 doors out of it as my engineer said that the maximum we can take cos of the size . So Michlin agreed to refund 60k to me while i keep the door till he finds a way to retrieve it . It was a peaceful settlement by both parties . I will do the needful.
Michlin I apologize for the use of words but it was caused by the ill treatment i was receiving. Lets treat each other with more kindness, it helps .

Know your client. Know who has the final authority. Deal directly with the decision makers.

It’s easier for @spyder880 to understand and deal with you than @eyinne because he’s in the field and he has all the need-to-know information which @eyinne can never dream of.

Often times, we tend to believe the man who made the payment is the decision maker. That’s partly true. There’s always that silent person whose opinion can never be discarded.
In some cases, it’s the madam of he house.

Did you realize it was the site engineer who actually complained about the door before madam brought it here? Even though she didn’t say it, I know he’s the decision maker here. His position determines whether the doors will be used or not?
Since he’s not involved in the award of the job, he’d only stay silent until issues crop up.

I’m not saying the engineer on this particular project is the one behind this issue o.

Moving forward, always tell your clients to allow you speak directly with the engineer on site. If it’s a project without an engineer, request for pictures that depict exactly what the client wanted. Ask specific questions to clarify likely issues.

Lastly, take the pain to visit the site to take as-built measurement of any job given to you.

I'm not a professional on doors, the professionals should guide you if the door size is usable as claimed by michlins.

That is the principle that makes all engineers allow tolerance of an inch or more to allow for proper installation for either doors n Windows.
So it's wrong to even reduce the size of the door he is fabricating except he was told or he measured the as-built n the opening itself is 900mm already.
I will not accept the door as well but let's acknowledge that it has happened n only him can still make this go away ASAP by he said he won't let his self esteem or so down n that's where there is issue.
I will suggest to him to always prepare a drawing or detailed sketch for doors n some other things he does to avoid more occurence.
Lot of learning still has to be done when you are dealing with clients that knows what they want

please sir, that's how doors are made. Even the prefabricated doors are smaller.

Here's how it goes. A sheet of pan is 8ft and when divided by four gives you 2ft plus 3" of the pipes. That's 30" then you add frames which is usually 1.5" on both sides. That's a total of 33".

This is the way it works. If you want to expand the size, you will have to add pipes in-between to increase it.

While I am not holding brief for Michlin, I think his response was very natural.
Recall that a client had a few days earlier insulted him publicly in capital letters for an obviously miscommunication issue. This is without giving him any benefit of doubt. This would have put him in a defensive posture in response to Egun's question.

His response to Egun's question should have been more tactful no doubt. However, Egun's response was equally wrong.

Courtesy should be demanded from both clients and vendors. Unfortunately, the scale is tilted a little against the vendors in this forum.

It was this same Michlin that was hardly given a chance when he came on board this forum. All sorts of insults, innuendos were hurled in this direction. Yet he remained dogged and proved himself.

The seeming support he receives here in this saga and the one that involved hammer last year (if you can recollect), is because the public would naturally stand against judgemental and subtle bullying against an individual perceived to be hardworking and straightforward so far.

We know fraudulent behaviour when we see one. Dragging vendors down because of glaring miscommunication issues or imperfect company processes is uncalled for.

Remember that the internet doesn't forget. In this challenging economic environment, why kill what you cannot build when we have not engaged privately to clarify issues?

Vendors should also profile clients (as much as it's possible) before accepting jobs from them, and deal with whosoever you choose to do business with on a personal level (pictures, information etc.). Self respect is also as good as the money.

You can avoid whosoever you don't want to deal with, but don't also insult clients or appear arrogant/rude.

The bolded says it all.

As a pikin wey I be, I have been following mogaji and michilin interactions for a long time now. I can tell you that mogaji don't really like michilin and his works. And mogaji always make snide remarks about michilin works. Some people here would have made michilin that same request and he will gladly grant it,this I know. So mogaji himself knows he is not in the best position to make such requests. I see no problem in the way michilin turned the request down.
And you talking about silence being golden, you should probably tell that to mogaji, he should have kept silent when the request was not granted, tell him that, not michilin.
Insulting michilin is way off, and I don't even want to talk about mogaji going to exhume a post of 1925 just spite michilin.

People have avoided costly construction mistakes because of strategies they found here. These are all possible because of collective inputs from numerous contributors to the thread. The only way to guide this treasured thread is call out any incivility.

Subtly aggressive behavior is worst than an open confrontation and needs to be addressed. If a culture of respect is desired, then openness and healthy discuss must be encouraged. It would be pretentious to act like we don't know when people engage in incivility. Proactive measures must be implemented to intervene. The ways to prevent such occurrence are to create awareness, call them for what they are, and speak out.

The offenders enjoy the game and would continue if not reprimanded, especially if the target is seen as a soft target. They would perpetuate their demeaning act and end it with some silly subtle phrase like "I come in peace" when the reverse is quite obvious.
