He doesn't live in his state though.... During the festive seasons he takes his kids home and let them mingle freely with the villagers, while shuttling to his dad's house who lives in the villacity. |

michlins: now if you want to produce woods with comparable quality, the price will be close to the ₦7,000. Now how many Nigerians will gladly pay that amount for wood when there are cheaper options. What stops the person from going for steel trusts instead. Bearing in mind that for a business to survive, you need patronage There are a million and one applications of wood apart from roofing. |

sonnie10: Those woods are pricey. For example the 2x 4 (inches ) x 16 (feet) is $12 with tax. That is about #7000. Add shipping and custom wahala (woods are contraband ) total landing cost might be up to #12k a piece. The same wood full length is sold for #900- #1000 in Nigeria.
Therefore the question of whether high end clients would buy a locally produced high end wood is answered. And it is yes, they will buy, especially if the quality is comparable even if it sold for much more.
Other questions are, what problem does it really solve and is there a better affordable alternative like iron struts? Nice analysis |

michlins: the people who can afford this will gladly pay for the imported woods instead of patronizing the local market.
But what do I know? You can change the market status quo I don't think so... You generalised "the people" As far as Nigeria is concerned there is no market that won't sell. Just focus on your target customers... |

My concern is if Nigerians will pay extra to get grade lumber. Sure, a lot of Nigerians will pay extra for grade lumber. I am sure of that. |

saydfact: Good Morning. Thanks for following.
YES... apart from M&E conduit pipes, you have to sort the following * Wooden Door Subframes * Window subframes (if you're using sliding) - casement can always be done later * I expect that you have completed your ceiling hangers already when you did the roofing.
GOODLUCK Thanks chief, All you mentioned is already in place. |

n3xt: It’s cool but you have to handle the installation with care and it must be well planned. You also need to carefully chose the area to install it.
I won’t recommend this inside a residential building because it’s highly flammable and could shrink/melt under relatively high-temperature.
It’s cool if you’re using it for outdoor projects and under slabs in open areas. Thanks sir, settled |

n3xt: Just 2 days ago, I got a call from LafargeHolcim (one of the largest producer of cement in Africa). They wanted a storey building completely designed and built with Lightgauge steel.
My last 2 projects had Fibre cement Cladding that reduced the need for cement.
Just yesterday, I found and decided to experiment polystyrene ceilings. The prices are very interesting and friends. It’s lightweight and also very easy to use.
I was able to pull an over 300sqm suspended ceiling within 72 hours because I wasn’t doing the conventional pop installation.
I’ve shared picture of a gate column built by the Chinese in 2014. It has no single concrete and they were all tiled with 60 x 120 tiles. The structure is still standing today without any sign of visible defect.
The world is constantly evolving. We need to move with time.
Pic 1-4 | Polystyrene Ceiling Good evening sir What material is the 1st and 2nd pic? Doesn't really look like polystyrene |

Opt for simple POP without a complex design instead to save materials.

Here in Abuja people are beginning to accept becouse is cheaper than POP. I wish I knew about it before now. Please Google it to be convinced. I am surprised with all the gurus in this platform but nobody is talking about it. Wow, how has it been so far? Will you recommend it for someone? |

abuiltech: Although I haven't seen where it was used as a ceiling, but my concern, is just its flammability, while adopting this materials you have to take necessary precautions, be very conscious, don't use it in the kitchen area, get all your fire protection system intact and teach everyone how to use them, The guy said its produced and modified specifically for building and the modification entails being fire resistant among others. |

topsy23: You mean polystyrene as attached in picture 1 and 2 ?
I have not seen where they use it as ceiling. The last we used is through the beams for our penetration pipes as shown in the picture 3.
The structural engineer go against using our normal pipes by cutting the reinforcement Something similar but specially produced for building purposes. |

I bought umi a7s from @lilachiever here and I've been using it for 2 weeks now... Here is my take... The phone is a steal buy for its price. Though a low budget phone but it's worth more than the price. The screen resolution is OK... The camera is sharp.. The battery lasts well.. It's face recognition is very sensitive..
Heavy duty apps hangs but if you download ur apps from playstore they have just the right apps that matches it. So far so good Will still give another update after one month of usage. |

AlphamaleTech1: If diapers can block digester it can also block the old soak away, we both make use of the 4 inches pipe, the only thing is that diapers, pads can't be degraded; nevertheless it's still very much preferred, it will still last for a very long period of time. Even when it get filled due to pads etc, u dnt av to call the human waste agency for evacuation where u spend extra at d same time cause air pollution, with Digester, the human waste doesn't smell..we just open it, wash the filter then it's as good as new again. Life is good. Moreover we don't give room for too many curves while installing, that makes it difficult for it to get blocked. I heard detergents are not be used with biodigesters.... If true, how then can one go about it? |

EgunMogaji2: So regarding internet versus market, for the benefit of those that were not on here from the early days. This is not top castigate any seller because we live in a free enterprise.
It is common knowledge that some sellers on the street think majority of the people building are Ajebotas, Londoners, Abrodians, etc and thus prices and services are adjusted. Even up to the level of outright fraud and arrests with mugshots. On this thread.
So one has to always find street prices and purchase accordingly. I have been accused that I do not buy from vendors on here (which is not true), but the TOS of the site does not require us to buy from each other.
Thanks.
PS: Please note that I did not mention any names. Don't quote me as I'm having headache in my knee Gbamsolutely! |
