Celebrities › Re: Lagos Government After Linda Ikeji Over Tax Evasion by Bollinger(m): 4:42pm On Dec 19, 2015*. Modified: 1:07pm On Dec 20, 2015 |
Nairapeople: Multi-millionaire blogger, Linda Ikeji is in a battle with the Lagos Inland Revenue Service over an alleged tax evasion and it is authoritative. It was gathered that all attempts to track down the blogger started about a month ago when the agency got information that the blogger has not been remitting necessary taxes to the state government but all attempts by the service were said to have been frustrated. A source informed that at a time she was to be served a notice of tax assessment, her father who was to receive the letter allegedly declined to do so saying she could not receive such a notice on behalf of Linda. On the second occasion, the delivery man was turned back on the excuse that no individual known as Linda Ikeji was resident at the address traced to her business. The agency however got their way last week as she was said to have been served at her new mansion in highbrow Banana Island while the inland revenue equally made a video and photo evidences to support the service. A very reliable source at the tax office informed News of the People that checks conducted on the blogger revealed that she had only paid (N4,000) four thousand naira ever as tax to the state government. At the moment LIRS is said to be requesting for her tax assessment of personal income with a caveat that failure to do so may compel them to proceed to court for a criminal proceedings. A particular issue raised by a source was the withholding tax ought to have been paid to the state government on the 600 million naira property she recently acquired which may amount to about 30 million naira only. It was hinted that if the blogger refuses to respond to the request of the inland revenue, the agency shall be forced to drag her to court to face the music. When the blogger was contacted on the issue by this medium, she neither responded non acknowledged the message sent to her.
http://www.newsofthepeople-ng.com/blogger-linda-ikeji-in-trouble-with-lirs/ And this ladies and gentlemen is the reason why Nigerian's need to understand and accept taxation. Taxation is not just a means of generating revenue, it is also a means to curb corruption and excesses. During election campaigns In normal societies, a candidate would itemize his plans for the country and the first question would be "how are you going to fund your plans?". He/she would be prepared and lay out plans based on revenue generated from taxes. NOT OIL. In Nigeria, plans are based on the HOPE that the price of oil will be HIGH enough to fund all developmental projects. Most people don't know that America limits their oil exploration to the bearest minimum. Apart from their environmental concerns, they don't depend on oil for generating revenue. 80 percent of their budget depends on taxation. Nigerians need to think about this. America has oil, they could get more, but they prefer to use taxation as a stable means of generating revenue. Why is that? For most Nigerian's who are confused as to why other NORMAL societies pay tax. I will attempt to break it down for you. You are born, have access to quality education, graduate and land a perfect job. You buy a house, car, and get married. You go to bed at night and sleep comfortably with the knowledge that you can count on the police being there for you if you need them. You are almost sure of tomorrow. This is why you pay tax. You pay to get all these things and you pay to maintain them. Even if you don't live in America as an American or resident, you still have to file a tax return. Why? Because the American system rightly wants you to pay for the opportunity it creates for you to have a " CHOICE" of prospering in another country. I know some Nigerians will say that the country is too corrupt to maintain a quality taxation system. Well, they are wrong. Taxation helps to curb corruption and excesses. When you file your returns, if there is a discrepancy in your earned income and your style of living, the IRS will come after you with everything they have. Taxation exposes how you truly live. You can't hide from it. Linda is a bonafide idiot. Showing off like that on social media. Pleas come and do that shiit over here. If you do, expect an IRS audit the next day. Ask 50 cent. Nigerians need to change their phucked up mentality and understand this. |

Emyemyberry: Ever since d dullard took over
badnews everyday
mr integrity my arse

i continue to pity those who still think buhari is what he claims to be
buhari case with our economy is a hopeless one
even with clues from the opposition. The last recession in America took one and half years to stop before there was a turn around. At one time in their history, it took four years to stop one. It took quality leadership to make that happen. Nigeria has been in a recession since independence, so, blaming buhari is nonsensical. If you say that is not accurate, then point to a period in Nigeria's history when we were not in a recession. Oil was discovered in Nigeria in 1956 and we have been dependent on it ever since. When a whole country's source of income is solely based on one source of revenue and lately, the recovery of looted funds, then that country does not deserve to exist. Nigerian's have no grasp of it's history which is why we blame whoever is in charge at that point in time. Also, amnesia reigns supreme. They forget too quickly. Obasanjo did more damage to this country than any other President in our history, but for some reason people can't see it. Nigerians, i hail una. |

“Look at how poorly developed our town is. The state government has left this place to waste because we have no king to fight for us and because the governor Amosun is an Egba man and we are Ijebu people who didn’t vote for him in elections. But what about our own sons and daughters who’ve prospered all over Nigeria? They too have clearly neglected us, including Mike Adenuga.”
Can you imagine? He is saying because they don't have a king, this is the reason they are underdeveloped. A king. Really? This should not be in a sentence at all. You have to marvel at the way Nigerians think. A king. And he has the nerve to blame a business man as well. My question is, what about the elected officials they voted for to make their lives better? Nigerian's have the most phucked up mentality in existence today. What a country. |

EUROBOMBER: Democracy can only survive when there is viable opposition to the government in power. Since the APC won the last presidential elections and Buhari took over as president of this country, two men have taken the burden of opposition upon themselves and I think this is commendable.
Every body cannot be shouting "Sai Baba" and pretending as though Buhari is another god that fell down from heaven. people should be able to tell Buhari the truth and say the hard facts no matter how it hurts.
Femi Fani Kayode & Ayo Fayose are two Yoruba men that history will remember. These men have decided to set themselves apart to ensure that the opposition stands. They might not be perfect men but I think they are doing a good job worthy of commendation.
Ladies & gentlemen I present Femi Fani kayode & Ayodele Fayose. The only reason you would think these two are leaders is because you don't know what quality leadership is. And this is because you haven't experienced it. You are not alone. Most Nigerians haven't. |

Atmmachine: Do you know why people keep committing crimes in Nigeria ?? Nigeria is a third world country.
In America, the guys who did this will be caught in just few days. The corpses will be swabbed and sperm will be collected, finger prints will be lifted from the victims body.
As you can see in the pictures, No policeman was present on the scene, No pathologist is on the scene, no autopsy will be done. The killers won't be caught and they will carry on with the killing.
Most people will say it's because we are black but Ghanaians are black too now. Why are they so different from us? I have been to a lot of countries and the only two countries I can compare Nigeria to is iraq and Afghanistan. There is this sense of unpredictability that is common in all three countries. They are tribalistic as phuck, corrupt as hell, violent as a muthafucker and pretty much nothing works. You might be strolling one minute and the next you'll be witnessing jungle justice. Damn, the similarities really just occurred to me. |

Odunharry: Do you think going through your partner's phone once a while is right and can you allow your partner go through yours??
As for me , use to hate the habit though I don't have problem with anyone going through my phone until I discovered something years back..
My opinion is simple, Check if you want to check especially if you feeling suspicious or you getting less affection and time from ur partner.
Only people who have something to hide will not allow you check and I don't see what's there to hide form my partner except I have an ulterior motive
why I think it's right if you want to is simple.. It can save from cheating partner, deceitful relationship, heartbreak, disease, forced pregnancy etc etc
CAVEAT Be prepared and be strong to take or face anything you see.. If married, it should not be an issue. Unless one has something to hide. |

I watched a documentary about the massacre of South African miners and they displayed a similar suicidal approach to the security operatives . They opened fire on dem like kilode.
If someone approaches you with a sharpened pencil menacingly and u have a gun, will u wait till he stabs your neck before you defend yourself? Try to reason am well well o I get it now. The solution would be to kill every and anything in sight. Just to be safe. Nigerians really do not value life. In iraq, the insurgents would shoot at us and then run and hide among non combatants. Immediately we had to stop. If you didn't, and you shoot anyone without a weapon, you'll be spending the next ten years at leavenworth. Also, the more non combatants you kill, the more terrorist you create. Makes sense doesn't it? |
