NERDYDREAMS: Oh lord heal our nation Prayers won't help. You forget that God gave us free will and the power to change what we can. Nigeria's problems are not God's fault but Nigerians. Change how you do business and everything will fall into place. Ever wondered why Americans, who don't believe in God are so prosperous? Food for thought. |

laudate: I told you before that you have a myopic mindset, and with every comment that you utter... you keep proving me right. I forgot to add the word 'warped,' to that description.
My optimism is founded on nothing, but sheer reality. I have lived in the UK as well as a few other foreign countries, and I have also lived in Nigeria. Believe me when I tell you that Nigeria still has a number of goods things, going for it. My neighbour uses the rent from the houses he built in Nigeria, to fund his lifestyle and living expenses in the US. I have heard several people saying it is easier to trade within Nigeria, than abroad and the return on investments are still far better here than in other European countries.
So all your vile epithets you keep recycling about Nigeria has not stopped those who are making a decent living within this country, from doing so. Only those who experienced a deprived childhood within their own country, seek means of escape from it, and never have anything decent to say about it when they finally leave the place. You seem to get a high from launching invectives and cusswords against your country. So here have the floor... and knock yourself out. Lol.. . . . .Nigeria is really awesome. i can see that all roads are looking good now. Quality healthcare also exist now. Corruption is down and almost non existent. Security is even better now. The cops show up 10 minutes after you call them and the criminals run away as soon as they see them. People also dont build their homes anymore as if they are prison. I also see that power generation is better; everyone has 24 hrs a day power supply. Even the gas situation is wonderful no more long queues at the pumps. Wow, the educational system has been overhauled and there actually quality facilities for a conducive learning experience in Nigeria. You know what? forgive me. I now see why you are optimistic. My bad. |

laudate: Do you earn money for every vile epithet you spew out about your country? So to you, Nigeria is a 'cesspool??' And no one else is allowed to have a different opinion, without you questioning their Nigerian identity? Okay,o! Your clueless mindset has just entered the next level.
I live in Nigeria unlike you, and I can see what took place in the past, what is currently happening and the plans in the pipeline for the future. On the contrary, you are the one with a thoroughly negative mindset who does not have any grasp about what is currently going on, in different sectors of the country.
Like I stated earlier, Nigeria has its shortcomings but I will not denigrate my country in order to feel good like you are busy doing. If you dislike my optimism, hug the nearest transformer. How old did you say you were, by the way?? Lol. . .it's good to have optimism but be realistic about what you are optimistic about. There are no signs that the country is going nowhere but in circles. But, you see change when there is none. You need not look further than the front page of NL to see how phucked the country is. I don't make the headlines, you'all do. Stu.pid shiit that shouldn't be happening is absolutely normal to you'all. I say again, change your mentality and then you can start being optimistic. A goat wears shoes, optimistic he won't be seen as a goat. Optimism does not change reality. |

laudate: Hear we go again. Please go back and re-read your initial post before coming back here to rant. You were the one pouring scorn on Nigeria because of your claims about the lack of a pension scheme, lack of jobs or owning a car after graduation. And my response to you, was that it was not always like that and the state of affairs in the sixties and seventies, were far better than what it is today. So contrary to your statement, nobody is living in denial .
Am a full-blooded Nigerian and I carry my green passport with pride. And I will be the first to admit that a lot of things in Nigeria need improvement. But I will not destroy my country or talk trash about it, in order to feel good with myself the way you have been doing. Neither will I drag its name in the mud, because of some perceived shortcomings.
Does speaking the truth, mean having to denigrate your country?? In one of your earlier posts, you claimed: " The rot in the country today has been going on since independence." Later you said: " i can tell you for a fact, Nigeria has always been crap." You are the one with a skewed mentality here, and it is so sad to see that the myopia through which you view your own country, has clouded your sense of judgement. I am yet to meet an American outside the US, talking trash about their country. They often refer to it as 'God's own country', making you believe it is the greatest nation on earth, despite all the problems they have over there. Tell me, are they living in denial as well? The only reason i asked if you were a Nigerian is because you seem not to know that the country you live in has been a cesspool since inception. If you were a true Nigerian you would have known that. There is a difference between realizing what is and hoping for what can be. If you don't have the true grasp of what is then how do you move on. You need to wake up to reality. |

laudate: If you expect me to swallow your myopic hatred of Nigeria as part of the lessons you are teaching, then sorry... I will gladly pass on that one. I have read your rants and there is nothing worthy of 'teaching' in any part of it, or any cogent objective facts in it, that can be taught. Your insults how how shallow your mind has become.
Last word: Am not sensitive to anything, I just hate it when misguided rhetoric, hate-mongering, childish rants and myopic views are peddled as truth, like you have done. You sure you are Nigerian? So, speaking the truth is hate mongering. Right. Got it. This is another bane of Nigerians; living in denial. Admit that the foundations the country was built on was and is flawed, change the way you'all think, and finally chart a realistic course for change in the future. Living in denial is counter productive. All it does is hold you back. Reminiscing for a time that never existed is sad to say the least. I somehow feel sorry for you. Damn, what a pity. |

laudate: I do not consider having a retirement fund as "flaunting" anything, but the way you alluded to it to denigrate Nigeria and trample upon everything connected to it, is what I refer to as "flaunting.".
The pension fund system has been reformed and is even presently undergoing further reforms in Nigeria, as we speak. I have a pension plan, too. So what is the big deal? In your myopic warped view, the lack of a functional pension system, is what qualifies you to pour scorn on Nigeria. I truly pity you. You alluded to driving a car, as a miracle. Nobody has said that here, but I guess in your own small mind....it is truly a miracle, which is why you made reference to it.
Finally you said that; "Owning or paying mortgage is crazy or impossible and getting a job as soon as you graduate a miracle.". In the past, it was not a miracle. Obviously, you do not have elders that graduated from Nigerian universities in the 60s to late 70s. During that time, employers chased fresh graduates from universities with jobs and getting a car loan was almost automatic.
My older relatives and elderly friends who are accomplished professionals working in different parts of the world as well as within the country, showed me evidence of the good life they had in that era, which is why till date a lot of them remain grateful to Nigeria for the good start they had in life. Then why were you so sensitive to my example of it? if anything you should be thanking me for teaching you something you never any idea off. Let me guess you are going to come back and say you knew. Right? Lol. . . . |

laudate: Please return your self-hate into your pocket! Some of you never see anything good in Nigeria because of your myopic mindset and jaundiced view. Nigeria was not always crap. Even the UK and US you mentioned have their own failings and share of woes.
And stop flaunting your retirement funds. No one asked you for it, and nobody is interested in it! Lol.. .if you consider a person talking about a retirement fund "flaunting", then i really pity you. Retirement is a normal topic as normal as breathing. Who lives today without a retirement plan? I sometimes forget who i'm talking to. I forget i'm talking to people who think driving a car is a big deal, having a retirement plan is "flaunting", Owning or paying mortgage is crazy or impossible and getting a job as soon as you graduate a miracle. To me, it's not "showing off", it's "normal". There are no big boys here because everyone has the same thing. I spent a better part of my life in Nigeria and i realized that the bane of Nigeria is not corruption but it's mentality. It's just too phucked up for any change to happen as evidenced from the above post. |

laudate: If Fela had been alive now, his songs would have been more critical. Are Fela's songs the only yardstick for measuring the state of the economy in Nigeria?? Or was Fela the sole authority on the Nigerian condition? Trust me, Nigeria had golden years. Talk to your elders who were graduates at that time, and let them share their stories with you. Then, compare what they had, with what we have today!
In 1991, as a youngster I still remember buying an economy class return ticket with 12,000 naira to the UK on British Airways! In the 1960's in the U.S, bread was 20 cents, today it's 2 dollars, depending on what kind you buy. That's a huge difference considering we still spend our cents today. A gallon of gas was 25 cents, today we buy as high as 3 or 4 dollars a gallon at the pump but we hardly feel it that much. Why? it's called adjustment to inflation. What Nigerians don't understand is there will always be inflation, what you do is you adjust to that inflation. That is what i do and that is what the american government does. This is why americans don't feel inflation too much. I already know that my retirement funds will not hold the same value it would today, so i am already adjusting the way i save towards it. And, no need to ask anyone, i can tell you for a fact, Nigeria was always crap. Growing up we'd never had power for a week straight. Roads were always crap; don't think it just started today. Police and Soldiers had always used civilians for target practice as is today. And the worst part is the Nigerian way of thinking has not changed from then till now. If it had, things would have changed, wouldn't it? |

About Poverty talk to the government before talking to dangote..,,check his companies CSR before forming an opinion... Just checked again. Just so i'd know i wasn't crazy. Google refers to the RICHEST black person, not the most powerful. When anyone is the most powerful in the world, it means his influence transfers to everyone in the world. The person is easily recognizable to almost every living person, which is why michael jackson was on that list at one time which is understandable. And, Obama being on it is also understandable. When Obama coughs, the world listens. The only people that really recognize dangote or feel his impact are his employees and a few Nigerians. Most powerful black man? i think not. He's not even the most powerful in Nigeria not to talk of the world. Tinubu is more powerful than him. Tinubu's impact, good or bad, can be felt by all Nigerians. Buhari is one of his impacts. |

uboma: From the late 70s up to the early 80s were Nigerian's golden years.
There were no hassles securing visas to other countries. We even had the Brits and other foreigners flocking into Nigeria to secure employments in our universities.
As a citizen of the country, upon graduation from the university, a brand new car + accomodation + employment was provided by the govt.
We were the envy of other countries. But the tables has turned around and NGN 1 equals to USD220 now. There's no employment for graduates now. the list is endless and no need recounting them (to avoid emotional breakdown).
Just recently, I was shocked to hear that the govt of Ghana still provides a car and accomodation to graduates of medicine and nursing. About 2 months back, I sent NGN100,000.00 to Ghana and after the transfer via Access Bank, I discovered that the equivalent in Ghana Cedis was just one thousand and a few hundreds to my NGN100,000.00.
Our leaders have sucked Nigeria dry. Will Nigeria attain her golden era again remains to be seen.
Hmmmmmmmm! Really? Fela's songs were released from the late 60's. And listening to it now, you would think he was still alive and the songs were released yesterday. Nigeria never had golden years. The rot in the country today has been going on since independence. |

As you said, Saudi Arabia is a recognised Kingdom with a monarchical system of government.
