The mentality of Nigerians need to change as soon as possible. Buhari has a daunting task ahead of him. Imagine trying to bring change to people who still have cavemen mentality.
Travel › Re: Why Applicants Are Denied US Visas – Consul-general by Bollinger(m): 2:50pm On May 23, 2015
hansad:
Most of Nigerians who emigrated to the US come home poor, empty handed and cracked.
Tell. what do Nigerians go to do in the US? Look at sky scrappers?
Studies? Most Nigerians who can afford to pay the high fees in US are Nigerian oil thieves.
You might want to revise your post. There is a difference between being issued a visa and staying over your visa date. That is not emigration. If you stay over your visa date is same as prison in the U.S. You won't be able to do anything or work anywhere legally. Of course in that situation, any individual who makes that choice will return empty handed. (I wonder why anyone would want to come back if they actually emigrated). Those individuals who you've known to come back empty handed went to the states illegally. The best way to describe America; close your eyes and imagine anything you want to be and I guarantee you will achieve it.

Politics › Re: Nigeria Would’ve Been In Crisis If Jonathan Disputed Elections – Buhari by Bollinger(m):
This man will fail. not because I wish it but because Nigerians unconsciously are pushing him towards failure with their unrealistic expectations. so you expect the man to fix more than 50 years of rut in 4 years? Remember, it is easier to destroy than to repair/build. Not only does he have to fix the infrastructural decay, which is easy, he has to try to fix the psychological and societal decay of of its citizens, which is harder. Serves him right though for promising so much. Now that he has screwed the populace and he's on his first cigarette, he has started to gradually and subtly recant some of his promises. I hope Nigerians don't lynch him.

You call it obsession, most people will call it manners. I know this for a fact. In the united states army, there is something called the greeting of the day. Make dem born you well pass your Oga no say good morning or good afternoon. You go get counseling statement for disrespect. So, if white man know the value, how come we as africans come de lose the value? Not saying common good morning shows the quality of upbringing. That being said, I am not yoruba but i value that aspect of their culture.

vfactor:
Cos modern day people too get sense! And too much sense....hmmmm....well the end justifies whether too much sense is a good thing or not!
You are not far from the truth. The main reason is women in the past were pretty much properties to be owned. It was no different than owning a slave. Communication was not key. Of course in that kind of scenario the marriage would last forever. Since the woman was bound to the man, willingly or otherwise. Since the advent of women rights, women have become more independent and very willful. The average Nigerian man, who is intellectually docile, finds it difficult to subjugate or communicate without using force. The economy does not help either. The husband is supposed to be the traditional bread winner, but that role has diminished considerably over time. In summary; times have changed and the inability of the male/female species to change with it is the root cause divorces.

You mean the same type of "common sense" they have been using to deceive you and you alone. Mr. Man, look, this is Nigeria and they(you) are the reason why the country is the mockery of the world. If you think you don't like the suggestion, then you better bring up yours and better still, you shut it.
You don't know how pissed off I get when I hear people say "this is Nigeria". It's like saying "we don't do thing normally here" Nigerians love to justify their stupidity and squalor. You need suggestions? I'll give you some. I didn't come up with these though. It is how normal countries go about persecuting criminals.

step1; Gather credible evidence. key word here is credible.

step 2; After evidence gathering, issue arrest warrant.

step 3; Try them in a court of law.

Step 4; if found guilty based on the evidence gathered, throw the full weight of the law at them.

See how simple that was? I know what you are going to say next. You are going to say "this is Nigeria. It's not going to work because we are not normal" So, who's fault or problem is that?

Assumptions, finger pointing and innuendo's is not how the law is enforced in normal societies.

Are you scared you or your daddy or your uncle or the person (politician) that is stealing to keep you feeding fat will be asked to return the stolen public funds? like I said; stu.pid. Instead of the guy to hide in reflection, he responds. Can't even understand a simple message. No one is saying don't go after corrupt politicians, but go after them using common sense.

Is this a joke or what? grin
I actually wondered the same thing. The problem with Nigeria is there are too many stu.pid people everywhere. On the streets, in Govt, everywhere. Ok, it has been established that to govern, you need to pick from the populace an individual to represent the said populace. Here's the problem. When the ratio of st.upid people to the intelligent ones is this high, the chances that you will pick a stu.pid person is also high. That is why Nigeria is so stagnant. What can a stu.pid person achieve? I fear that at this rate, Nigeria will never move past where it is at the moment. Just check Nairaland alone. Stupidity reigns supreme. You can guage a society just from a site like this. Check out yahoo in various countries. It can tell you a lot about the mindset of it's people. Based on Nairaland alone, Nigeria is screwed. Case in point, check out these responses and tell me these aren't ridiculous. As if this is the normal way to generate revenue or persecute criminals to recover stolen funds. Also notice each post started with GREAT. Stu.pid minds think alike.

Great idea. But the governors that serve under yaradua and Jonathan should return more than a that. Each should return more than 20billion each year. The reason being the increase in allocation during their 8 years stay in power

Seun. I seriously believe you have a problem and you don't even know it yet. Your business is in danger and you have to act fast to save it. Advertisers are watching. Your content is becoming a joke. I get it, when you started out, you needed help to get the ball rolling so as to save cost. That was why you were at the mercy of members to create content. Now that you are standing on both feet squarely on the ground, you need to get a handle of the content you are presenting to your suscribers/members. The rate at which useless/immature/ridiculous topics are being churned out is alarming and you need to do something drastic to change this. You need to start emulating yahoo. Employ a few writers of your own to help in creating captivating topics or thoroughly vet topics that appear on the front page. Haven't you noticed that topics don't last more than 3 to 4 pages? While in the past, the minimum would be twenty. Nigerians generally are dull, so almost anything captivates them, and even a shinny coin stuck in the dirt will amaze most and probably end up on the front page with a caption like this "LOOK AT THIS SHINNY COIN I FOUND TODAY". Back in the day when it was expensive to own a computer and have access to internet, it helped alienate the dull ones, now it's a free for all. 12 year olds are running rampage. What message are you sending to advertisers? "Hey advertiser, your target audience will be people ranging from 12 to 15 year old/imature/dull Nigerians. Our content is dependent on whatever is provided by our members and stories that end up on the front page are vetted by our equally immature/dull/incompetent moderators". Take this as a wake up call.

I am quite impressed with Ben Murray-Bruce's social media sensitisation since he became a Senator Elect.

I can attest to his very simple lifestyle and can also reliably confirm he is extremely wealthy.

I see a new Nigeria in 4 years. Criminals are also getting reformed and willing to serve. It is time for serious business.

I believe!
You are easily impressed because you are a mor.on. I bet you'd be impressed in your ability to get up from bed in the morning. What has his flying first, second, or third class have to do with being a senator?
